Chapter 6: Vroom Vroom
As the night went on, I met various Gerudos. Many of them gave me stern looks, despite Lasella's endorsement of me. I knew I'd have to earn their trust, but I wasn't sure of how to do that. Fortunately or unfortunately, the Gerudos had a plan for that.
As I was standing in the corner of the room talking with a few Gerudos, Naresa, one of Lasella's friends, brought me a mug and said. "Drink this as a symbol of our friendship. It's traditional." She was very assertive, practically putting the mug into my hand. She then looked me over.
"I'm not really thirsty." I said. "But you did make it for me." A part of me had a bad feeling about this, but I figured that the Gerudos would just kill me with their scimitars before they would make recourse to poison. The drink itself was quite fruity, having a Hydromelon flavor and a hint of something vaguely pineapple. But there was a kick to it, and I didn't know what the kick was from.
"What do you think?" Naressa asked, wearing a suspiciously satisfied-looking smile.
"It was great!" I said. But I was already feeling it."What was in it?"
"Nothing too special. Just hydromelon, sugar, pineapple, and something else."
"I… need to sit back down."
"Yes, you do. You're tired."Naresa took me by the hand, leading me toward a different room in the hideout. She sat me in a chair.
I think Lasella walked in next, although I'm not 100% sure it was her. She leaned down, looking into my probably-glossy eyes."Wow, I wish I could get messed up like that by the potion!"And she laughed and patted me on the back.
"What's… going… on?" I asked.
Naresa said,"Don't worry. We just need to ask you a few questions. Lasella doesn't think you're a spy, and I think she's probably right. We just need to verify that. I want to hear your whole life story, James. It's bound to be interesting!"
"Ok. Where do you want me to begin?" And my memory recall ends there.
The next morning, I woke up in my hotel room, unsure of how I'd gotten back. There was a note on the night stand, which read "Thanks for a wonderful night! -Lasella." And pieces of the previous night began to return to me.
After getting my bearings, I decided to go downstairs and find breakfast somewhere. The clerk at the hotel counter saw me leaving and shouted, "Be careful not to get mauled down by any fork lifts!" She had a fork in her hand that I assume she'd gotten to make this joke, and she lifted it up and down into the air and made a downward stabbing motion. I didn't notice it last night, but she was one of the Gerudo inside of the hideout. This must have been her cover job.
"Good one!" I said, putting two and two together. "It was an interesting night. I'm off to find breakfast somewhere. Should I assume that Lasella and her friends done with me?"
"Oh, I don't think so. There are lots of uses for a strapping young lad! But don't worry about that right now. Go and get your breakfast! See the town. Our business will come later."
And I did just that. I'd never been in such an arrangement. A 'Don't contact us. We'll contact you.' state of affairs. At some point, the Gerudo were going to include me in their plans, and perhaps this would lead to a chance to infiltrate Hyrule Castle. Or perhaps not. I was kind of drifting along without a definite next goal, at this point.
While I was in line at a bread stand, a little kid walked up to me and said, "Watch out: I'm Carlos. I'm going to get you! Vroom vroom!"
