Winter
Back when he was with the Yagi's, Izuku always hated Summer and Winter. The poorly insulated attic he slept in left him either frozen or cooked. Sometimes he wonders how he ever survived living in that house. But now, with the snow falling on his faux white hair, he had only one thought. 'I miss Rei.'
Keimusho Prison
Izuku landed on a platform just off of the bridge connected to a prison. The other day, someone on the street was screaming for heroes or police, but they never came. They were too focused on a single boy to help the public. It was a young man who was yelling about a potential prison break at the Keimusho Prison. Although no one looked directly at him, the unease was plain to see. Back then, people would've dismissed him as crazy or playing a practical joke. But now, with the heroes repeatedly failing, there's no telling what could come next.
After two hours of no activity on the outside, Izuku was about ready to hit the road, until he heard some rumbling from the inside. It was a thumping sound that got closer. The ground began to tremble and plumes of dust began to rise. He stood in front of the main door and prepared to fight. He took a stance with his hands, feet, chest and face alight with his forest green fire.
Crash!!*
The main doors were smashed to pieces by someone who must've had super strength. He could hear the harrowing cackles of freed villains and criminals. From what he could tell, Izuku was measuring at least fifty escapees. "Holy crap, we're free!" "I can't wait to rip some hero throats!" "It's finally our time in the sun, right boss!" A leader. Izuku saw several figures in the smoke. One was a huge muscular humanoid with a beak. One was a mist cloud with glowing eyes. The first person he saw clearly made his eyes widen with surprise.
"That's right! With these numbers under my guidance, we'll even end All Might!" That voice... That high-pitched, cracky, raspy voice... Stepping out of the veil of dust was a young man with shaggy blue hair and several detached hands covering him. "You!" he exclaimed. The self-proclaimed villain leader looked ahead, his chapped lips forming a wide, triumphant grin. "Oh good, you got my invitation!" he chuckled.
While the villain leader and the Green Devil seemed to know each other, the other prisoners were confused and slightly annoyed. "Who's the brat?" "Beats me, we gonna kill em?" The living mist spoke up. "Allow me to fill in some of the blanks," he began. "This is no ordinary child, he is the Green Devil. Surely, word of mouth has reached you about the young scourge of hero society. He wields firepower that invokes fear and surpasses Endeavor's. He even fought All Might and lives free to tell the tale."
Suddenly, the prisoners became awestruck and slightly fearful of the short figure in front of them. They had heard the guards talk about him, but they didn't expect him to be so shrimpy. Izuku noticed how most of them recoiled, but the handyman, mist man and bird man didn't look fearful at all. Those three were the truly dangerous ones. "And that's why we're here. Welcome to the group, friend!" The leader said.
"You're like us, beaten down and oppressed by this hero saturated society. So, join us! We'll tear down the last pillar holding this twisted world up, and create a brand new world fit for everyone! Not even All Might could stop us! The League of Villains! What do you say?" He sounded much too proud of himself, as if he accounted for everything. Except for one thing... "I refuse." Izuku said, shocking everyone. 'A large gathering of followers, interested in recruiting me. He's one of All For One's pawns. I'll keep my distance until I can learn more about him.'
"Sorry, but I'm not interested in following an overcompensated blind leader who doesn't believe in what he preaches." The leader then started scratching his neck. "What did you say, brat?" The mist man then interjected. "Young man, you do know what you're saying, don't you? If you're not with us, you're against us." As he said that, the escapees began readying their quirks to attack. "It would be an unwise decision for you to make." he finished ominously.
Flames formed an X over Izuku's chest and wings sprouted from his back. "We'll see about that." The villain leader scoffed. "Tch. How disappointing. Get him."
A wave of criminals charged at the boy, an army of fifty versus one. Hardly fair. Izuku raised his arm and a huge fire hand manifested. He swiped across and grabbed several inmates. He held them tightly in his enlarged fist and swung down on the next wave, easily decimating half of the scumbag army. "Street trash is the best you could find, villain leader?" Izuku taunted. The leader seemed unphased.
"DIE!" A man with sharp claws tried to swipe at his throat. Izuku dodged and uppercutted him unconscious. The next wave worked with long-range moves. Lightning, fire, dark energy bombs were all hurled at him, creating a large cover of quirk destruction. When the smoke cleared, all that was seen was a swirling green fire column that left the boy without a scratch. "Is that all?" he asked. The prisoners were stunned by what they just saw. A single child made them all look like useless weaklings.
"Damn it, damn it, damn it...!" The leader growled as he scratched his neck furiously. He and the living mist transported themselves to the top of a nearby watchtower and were looking down at the massacre of the newly formed League of Villains. "At this rate, he'll wipe us out before we've had a chance to do anything!" The mist man spoke up. "Remember, Tomura Shigaraki, our mission is recruiting, which we have accomplished. All For One permitted you to try to welcome the Green Devil, but he is clearly more harm than good. We must allow some of our new friends a chance to escape and continue to ravage this crumbling world. It's time to unleash the Nomu."
Tomura stopped scratching his neck. "It's a shame, really, Kurogiri. I never thought I'd be killing children on my big start, but it's only level one. We have to start somewhere." Right as he finished talking, Izuku had just enveloped a man in cold flames and tossed his unconscious body aside. He looked up and saw the ringleader, and flew straight at him. "Nomu!" Izuku pulled back his fist and punched with an explosive impact.
"Was that supposed to hurt?" Izuku's eyes widened as he realized his fist connected with the black, brain-exposed creature, and it didn't recoil at all from the damage. The creature reached for him, but he pushed himself back and hovered in the air. Tomura had his wide grin again. "You may have fought All Might, but you barely scraped by! Let's see how you fair against the genetically enhanced nomu that was designed to kill him! Try to make it fun, huh!?"
In an instant, the creature lept at Izuku and grabbed his ankle. He was thrown right down to the ground. 'This is one of those zombie things from the news, but it's way stronger! Genetically enhanced? It definitely looks like a mutant!' Izuku landed on the ground, and saw the Nomu coming at him from above. "Flashfire Fist: Jet Burn!" Izuku's fist created a large green explosion at the center of Nomu's body. The heated blast consumed the beast's entire body, yet he didn't move an inch.
But then, with movements too fast for Izuku out-maneuver, the nomu grabbed the extended arm and crushed. "AAAHHHHH!!" Izuku screamed as his bones snapped and blood sprayed from his limb. When the dust settled, he saw that the damage from his attack was rapidly being repaired. "Impressed? Nomu here has shock absorption and regeneration! I told you he was made to kill All Might, didn't I? And as a little bonus, he's got naturally super strength and thick skin. Good luck burning through that! So, are you gonna join or are we gonna drag you out of here by force?" Tomura gloated.
From where Izuku's arm was held, intense flames erupted. "Neither!" he yelled as he melted away Nomu's flesh and pulled his arm back. The creature raised his free hand and tried to smash the devil into a red mark on the ground. He dodged and positioned himself behind the monster. He had his green eyes fixed on the creature's exposed brain as he coated his left arm with a searing hot sword. He stabbed his hand right through the monster's brain. Nomu released a loud, blood-curdling cry of pain as the flames worked to end him.
Tomura and Kurogiri watched in awe and dread at what happened next. Nomu's regeneration was working double time to try and repair it's brain, but that was impossible with the flaming sword lodged in it. "Say your goodbyes!" Izuku yelled. The Nomu flailed and shook around, trying to get the Green Devil off of him, but it was to no use. 'His brain is the most sensitive and vital part of him, so if he has any sense at all, he'll focus all his regenerative capabilities on restoring it! That leaves the rest of him to be incinerated!'
Nomu could only scream and thrash about as his head was engulfed in extremely hot green flames. They escaped from his mouth and ravaged his insides. Small flames burned through different spots across his body, before he was entirely enveloped in an emerald blaze. When his last howl passed, the area suddenly became silent, followed by a loud thud and continued silence. Izuku pulled his arm out of the bloody ash that was a nomu's brain. He found himself once again standing atop of a lifeless, half-cremated corpse.
Izuku huffed, tired from the amount of heat he had to generate to melt the monster's inhuman organs. "You cheated...!" Izuku back flipped, narrowly avoiding a rageful hand approaching his throat. "You fucking cheated!!" Tomura yelled as he lunged at Izuku again. "Oh right, you're still here." he said as he jumped above the screaming man-child throwing a tantrum.
Suddenly, a portal appeared right in front his face, with a palm creeping out. 'A portal!? That guy's a living portal!?' Izuku thought in astonishment. He swerved to the left, but just as he was about to get out of harms way, he right forearm was grasped, and he was pulled in to the swirling warp gate. "Forget the Nomu!" Tomura yelled. "I'm gonna tear you apart myself!" Izuku felt the fabric on his arm break away, followed by his skin. Cracks began to form over his forearm and more blood sprayed from his broken right arm!
"DAMN YOU!" Izuku yelled as blood and fire escaped from his wounds, making Tomura let go and drop and roll to put out the fire burning his hand. Izuku surveyed the damage done to himself. Cracks were on the surface of his arm, like it could break off completely at the next hit. "THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT!" Tomura took advantage of his momentary pause and went on the offensive again. He swiped his palm across the boy's chest, exposing it and causing cracks to form and more blood to escape! "I HATE YOU!"
"Prominence Burn!" Izuku fired a wave of hot flames from his chest to stop Tomura and cauterize his new wounds. Pushing himself that far beyond brought him to his knees, desperately gasping for air. He put out more power than intended, and was paying the price. "Too little, too late." Izuku's blood ran cold as he heard that squeaky, raspy voice. He looked up and saw Kurogiri protecting the hand-covered villain. "It's time to send you back to Hell." he said as he slowly brought his palm to Izuku's face.
Bang! Bang! Bang!*
"ARGH! FUCK!" Tomura yelled as he fell to the ground. The sound of gunshots filled the air, and bullets pierced his shoulder and leg. Kurogiri protected him against the offensive of the prison guards. He and his leader were forced to retreat. "Dammit!" one guard yelled and spat where he stood. Izuku could finally feel calm enough to pass out. The adrenaline wore off and the fire surrounding him wore off. The guards carefully approached his unconscious body, keeping their weapons trained on him.
He collapsed after fighting several of the escapees and a monster. Only one kid had that kind of power. "Holy shit, it's the Green Devil!" one of them said. "Did he stop these criminals? How strong can one kid be? Do we arrest him?" A guard put down his weapon and checked the boy over. "Get these criminals back in there cells! I'll find a prison doctor! Once he's conscious, we'll interrogate him. Go!"
Elsewhere
"Fuck! Fuck this! Fuck me! Fuck them! Fuck everything!" Tomura screeched as he dropped to the ground due to the pain of his injuries. Kurogiri ran to get him bandages and disinfectant. "The Nomu was a complete bust, Master! If it can't even beat a brat, there's no way in hell it can kill All Might!" The "master" rose from his seat and placed his hand on Tomura's blue hair. "I wouldn't be so sure about that," he grinned to himself. "For now, you can relish in your success, Tomura." The young villain could feel his wounds being slowly, painlessly closed.
"Though you may have lost your strongest pawn and the majority of your new army, handfuls of them did escape. And the prison break will send society even further into fear and panic. Things may not have gone exactly as we wanted, but take pride in the progress you've made." Tomura sighed, and stumbled back to his feet. "Still, I'll make him pay for this set back and these burns!" All For One smiled.
'Excellent. My protege is showing growth, and he knows how to get people to rally to his cause. Granted, they were already rotting in cells with no other option, but details, details. And as for the Green Devil, hmmhmmhm. It's time to put the final nail in Izuku Yagi's coffin. I'll leave that to you, All Might.'
2 months later
"You seriously have the Green Devil in your prison!?" Tsukauchi asked in the warden's office. The old man sitting on the other side of the desk nodded. "Indeed, he showed up and stopped the majority of our escaped prisoners. He was critically wounded by the end, and after what the boy did, it didn't sit right with us to leave him to die in the snow. But we are still being cautious. Our doctors have been working slowly, and we've kept him sedated until he is in stable condition. He's been fading in and out, but he should be fully conscious in three days."
"I see, and you haven't classified him as a prisoner yet?" the detective asked. "Not until we've heard his full story. He is far from innocent, but I'd like to see the full picture before making a decision, which is why I called you." The detective was immensely pleased with that response. Lately, he had been hearing from everyone that the monster deserves life in prison, or even death. "Thank you for informing me. I'll be back, but please keep me informed of his condition."
The warden held out his hand. "Wait, before you go," he reached for something in one of the drawers in his desk. "I said he's been fading in and out of consciousness. For the brief moments he was awake, he wrote this." Tsukauchi was handed a folded piece of paper that looked like someone wrote it while half asleep.
"A villain with several hands. A living portal. That monster was called nomu. Made to kill All Might. Multiple quirks. All For One is plotting."
The paper he just read sent chills down Tsukauchi's spine. He had a feeling the Demon Lord wasn't dead, but active? If this society deteriorates further, he will surely be reintroducing himself as the terror of the world. Even more unsettling, Izuku knew about the existence of All For One and seemed to know about what he could do. Meanwhile, Tsukauchi has doubts that All Might even told his successor the grave task entrusted to her. "W-When did he write this?" the detective finally asked. "Last night. Though his body has been suspended, and his quirk sealed, his mind has spikes at times. Bad dreams, the doctors suspect."
Tsukauchi folded the paper and put it in his jacket pocket. 'Izuku always wanted to be a hero, be like All Might. It's possible he could try and go after All For One himself! I've got to tell him that would be suicide!' "I know you said the kid is sedated, but if possible, I'd like to speak to him face to face." The warden looked at the detective like he had gone insane. "Sir, why on earth would-" Tsukauchi interrupted. "I'm working with several heroes, All Might included, to track down an extremely dangerous villain, the one who orchestrated the attack on your prison. The Green Devil would be a great asset." 'And Hawks and I can finally get him in one place long enough to talk to him.'
The warden seemed to contemplate his request. It wasn't completely unreasonable after what the boy had done, but not exactly sane either. He opened his mouth to answer, but... the blaring of an emergency alarm cut him off. "What the!?" he gasped. He opened the door to ask the guard what happened, and found him on the ground and a green-haired boy in hospital clothing. He was running like hell with tears in his eyes. "That's him! Stop!" the warden yelled.
Moments Before Izuku's Escape
Izuku's Mindscape
Izuku was floating all alone in a black void. There was no beginning or end, just a pitch black night. He had his mostly black, and green hair and a hollow look in his eyes as he tried to review what he knew and what he learned.
"Ten years ago, back when Izumi and I were close, back when we were siblings, we lost our dad. Months later, mom met Toshinori, All Might outside dad's hospital." Izuku's hair turned white as he thought about Rei, but back to its original color when he refocused. "Ten years ago, I think All Might fought someone. A lot of the details about the villain are kept tightly hidden, but I'm betting its All For One."
Izuku clenched his right hand so hard it bled. "Damn bastard...! And now that Yagi and Bakugo are training under Teleki and All Might, that places a target on their backs. Tch! Good riddence! All For One... he has to be as wounded as All Might, I can exploit that the same way I did with him."
"Don't. You can't."
Izuku froze as an unfamiliar voice spoke to him. He turned around to see a light behind him. As the light dimmed, he saw a face he that was burned into his memory from years of staring at its portrait. The hero of the era before All Might came to power. His grandmother, Nana Shimura. Izuku was stunned silent and backed slightly. His face contorted into awe and...
"You can't face him. You'd be killed for nothing. I don't want that for you."
Izuku couldn't fully hear her as his chest was pounding madly. The mindscape began to shake and crack, as Izuku was enveloped in a panic attack. Instead of hearing the voice of someone he admired more than All Might, he heard and saw the horrific things he's done. The chaos he's caused, the lives he's ended, all of it made him believe the figure in front of him would reject him, too. Only this time, rightfully so. Nana tried to gently approach her son, but the voice in his head wouldn't allow that. It was Izumi's voice.
"Old Dad and Grandma would be hella pissed to be stuck with you."
"...She's right."
Reality
Izuku jumped out of his hospital bed covered in cold sweat. His heart was still pounding erratically, and whimpers escaped his throat. He knew only one thing as he clawed at the hospital clothes. 'I need to get out of here!' He saw that a quirk suppressant cuff was attached to his left wrist. He grabbed the pen and bolted for the door. The poor boy sprinted down the halls of the prison, desperately trying to pry off the cuff with the pen. The sirens going off didn't help his panic attack.
"Hey, stop!" a guard yelled. Izuku's survival instincts kicked in and he lunged at the man, leaving small green flames in his wake. He chopped the man on the neck, knocking him out. He continued running, ignoring the shouts of the detective and warden.
That brings us to now. Izuku running for his life in a state of panic with tears in his eyes. He was running toward the window at the end of the hall, and had almost broken the seal on the cuff. "Stop!" Tsukauchi tried to reason with him, but it was no use. It was like trying to reason with a mouse as a lion. The former was being screamed at by his instincts to run. Tsukauchi took drastic measures and picked up the downed guards gun. He fired!
A bullet flew right past Izuku's head and into the wall in front of him. It may have been a warning shot, but he didn't slow down or bat an eye. Tsukauchi took another shot. This time, it cut off a few strands of hair. 'Please don't make me do this!' Tsukauchi begged internally as his tears obscured his vision. He readied his finger to pull the trigger a third time.
click!*
*BOOOM!*
Tsukauchi and the warden were blown away by a the shockwave of a huge explosion. The tried to collect themselves and saw a green fire flying through the sky. He had escaped, and was on route to god knows where. Tsukauchi dropped the gun and tried to wipe his tears. He had never seen or heard of the Green Devil freaking out so bad, even against monsters and villains. The detective was stumped on what to do next. 'He was crying...' That thought continued to echo in the detective's head.
Meanwhile, in the air, Izuku was doing everything in his power to fly away as fast as he could, tears pouring out of his eyes. He had large explosions continuously bursting from his palms, a large pair of wings on his back and jet flames on his feet. 'Green Explosions: Explosive Speed for propulsion. Sole Jets for balance. Faux Fierce Wings, cut down wind resistance.'
"That's right. Fly right into the waiting, loving arms of your family after your nightmare. I'm sure they'll gladly comfort you, you are their child, after all. Hm hehehe."
1 Week Later
Izuku had given himself some much needed time to collect himself. His dream about his grandmother shook him to his very core. He checked his body, new crack-like scars on his right arm and chest, and still not completely fit to fight. Any belief he had in himself was gone. He was desperate, and desperate people do desperate things. He simply walked through the disgustingly familiar suburban streets carrying his reliable yellow backpack, midday under the dark clouds of a cold day. As he walked, he didn't notice the remorseful turquoise eyes of another scarred onlooker. "See you in Hell, kid."
Izuku passed by Dagobah Beach, one of his old hiding places from his bullies. They always found it fitting for trash to be amongst trash. But the trash at the beach was gone. It looked pristine and beautiful, even under the depressing atmosphere. He decided to walk across the clean sand for the first time. He decided to take off his red sneakers and feel the sand with his feet, but a few familiar figures made him freeze. Izuku hid himself in the rocks. 'Of course, I should've guessed. This may be the most excruciating day of my life, but I can't go on like this.' He was ready to throw in the towel and turn himself into the Yagi's. As horrific as it was for him to admit, he couldn't do this alone anymore. He needed his family.
On the sandy shore were All Might and Teleki looking proudly at their star students. Katsuki Bakugo and Izumi Yagi. The latter had her face contorted with disgust as she thickly swallowed something. "Man, did I dodge a bullet!" Katsuki huffed. "I'm surprised you actually said Izumi could take it, Katsuki." Inko said. "Unlike me, she's practically defenseless against that green pyromaniac. She needs this to level the playing field." Inko and Toshinori smiled proudly at the boy's heroic generosity.
'What are they talking about? Why does Yagi look like she's about to throw up?' Izuku wondered.
"Make no mistake, I'm still gonna be the number one hero! We may be a duo, but there can only be one indisputable best, and it'll be me! Good luck swallowing that, Izumi!" There's that horrifically huge ego. Izumi shook off her disgust and grinned at her blonde friend. "I wouldn't be so sure, Kacchan. Before we know it, I'll be as strong as All Might!" "Like that means anything to the guy who'll surpass him!"
All Might walked up to the two and placed his hands on their shoulders. "We couldn't be prouder of you two, and all the extra hard work you've put in these past few months. You really went Plus Ultra! Izumi may have inherited it, but Katsuki, you would also make an exemplary successor. I'm so happy to know the legacy of One For All is in good hands!"
As All Might and Teleki carried on proudly, Izuku felt his heart burning in his chest. After all this time, he comes home and the same scene repeats itself. Izumi and Katsuki being praised while his pain is invisible. But one little thing kept his ears fixed on the group. 'One For All...? What is that? The opposite of All For One? And what does he mean inherit?'
"Hey, how long until tech support gets here?" Katsuki asked. "Her dad says not until Japan's crime rate goes down." Inko said dejected. "So not long then." Katsuki proclaimed as he punched his fist into his palm. Izumi smiled next to him. "Yeah! Once I get this power down pat, in like a week or two, we'll take the villains by storm, starting with the Green Devil!"
'So typical. They think their power is all they need to be heroes. They don't have anything else to make them even remotely heroic. That's why they rejected me.'
All Might spoke up. "It will be nice to have Melissa, the house has been feeling rather empty." His grin wavered, if only slightly. Izuku was clutching his hospital clothing as smoke came off of it. '...Who is this Melissa?' he wondered having never met anyone by that name.
All Might's grin never dropped but his face became more serious. "Izumi Yagi, you have inherited my quirk, One For All. Take honor in knowing that the world will one day looking to you as its next symbol of peace. I know that you will succeed, for Japan and for your brother's and grandmother's honor."The green-haired girl nodded and gladly accepted, having no idea what she was getting into.
Meanwhile, Izuku was having a breakdown all over again. 'What the hell is going on here!? One For All? Inherited his quirk? None of this makes any sense! And in my honor!? What does that... mean...' His mind was racing before it slowed to a horrifying conclusion. He had been missing since last year, and since then crime and villainy has spiked. The Yagi's quirkless son, alone in a crumbling superhuman society. What could possibly happen? Izuku tried desperately not think about it as he flew from the beach. Thankfully, the Yagi's and Bakugo were too focused on each other to notice him, as usual.
Half a mile away from the beach, Izuku flew to the front door of the Yagi household, and crashed right through the door. He picked himself up, not feeling much pain and leaving the doorframe on fire. He saw the old memorial table. It wasn't that anymore. It looked like any regular decoration table with flowers and pictures of the current family. Except for one. Izuku let his tears spill profusely as he ran up the stairs, his fire burning away at the house without him caring.
He went straight to Izumi's room. He didn't care if she would kill her for it, he needed answers. He saw something that made his heart ache: bunk beds. He hadn't seen those since before he was misdiagnosed as quirkless. On the bottom bunk, he saw her laptop was open to a picture of a blonde, blue-eyed girl. He had never seen this face before, she looked to be from a different country. "Who is that?" he wondered aloud. Perhaps Izumi's diary would shed light on the matter.
He clicked off the picture of the blonde girl and opened his sister's digital diary to a random page.
"Even when he's gone, Izuku keeps pissing me off. I found his journal about dad. It's full of stuff about him and the old man together. There's barely any me! One last slap in my face before you leave, huh Deku? Just rub it in my face that you've got so many good memories of Hisashi, while I have almost none."
Izuku felt a new level of disgust and repulsion toward his twin sister. He finally understood why she hated him after all these years. It's because he was with Hisashi more than her. More than anyone really. Izumi was too infatuated with their busy, 'heroic' mother to make time for her plain old dad and his weak fire-breathing quirk. She carries guilt and regret for not being like Izuku, and takes it out on him. That's what Izuku is to her, her deep-seated regrets given form, despite having done nothing to wrong her back then.
Izuku clicked to another page of her diary, an entry about this "Melissa".
"She's gonna be great to have around, making awesome gear for me and Kacchan! At least this quirkless is smart enough to know she can't be a hero and makes herself useful, unlike Deku."
Izuku felt his heart weep, burn and bleed. "Q...Quirkless..." His shallow voice repeated that word. This blonde girl is like he was. She's his... replacement. Izuku grasped his stomach and vomited all over the laptop. He rolled off the bed and landed on his hands and knees. He cried and coughed out his stomach's contents. He finally understood why his sister hated him, and what his family was doing to move on. That was the worst blow he's ever suffered. At least, that's what he thought.
Izuku picked himself up and left the room, not noticing his vomit melt through the floor. Yup, he vomits lava. Questions for later. He pushed himself to look into his parents room. Nothing was different from his last visit, except that now Nana's picture was hidden inside the drawer. He picked it up and held it to his chest and cried. The flames continued to climb the house as his emotions were exploding out.
'Quirkless...' Izuku thought, and Toshinori popped in his head. Toshinori said his quirk was somehow passed down to Izumi. 'Did it originate with him or...' Izuku looked at the burning picture of his grandmother. 'No... you trained him. You must've... S-So he was quirkless, too? He was like me? But he never did anything to help me...!' Izuku flipped the paper around and saw something written on the back. No doubt from Toshinori.
"Dear Master
I've made my choice to pass on our quirk to Izumi. She will make both of us proud as its ninth wielder. Perhaps you two will be united, and you can guide him. I feel bad for my son, Izuku, but I can't leave the power in his hands. He might be like I was, but he isn't me. He doesn't have the bravery to be a hero. It'll be much better for him to remain timid and quirkless. Please watch over us from above, Mother."
Izuku's flames flared up as the paper in his hands was reduced to ash. His animosity for his family was climbing new heights today! He just learned that his father is the biggest hypocrite ever. He told him he couldn't become a hero, to him it was like saying his son had no purpose in this world or this family. Izuku's world crumbled that day. If the quirkless back then were treated like he was, it would explain everything with his relationship with his father. The coward couldn't bear to look at a painful reminder of his hard life. He wanted to leave it behind and focus on being the world's great symbol, and in doing so, he created a great monster.
That just leaves one place left to look. His old room.
Izuku didn't bother with ladder, he just burned through the rusty flooring separating him from his original prison cell. He turned to where his mattress lay, but saw something entirely different. It was something he could never unsee. The sight was so jarring, so shocking, so unbelievable, so heartbreaking that it brought him to his knees. He cried silently while keeping a near blank expression of surprise. He would've vomited again, but he couldn't. He was empty inside.
What he was staring at was a shrine for the deceased. And his picture was in the center. Izuku Yagi is dead.
The broken soul was on his hands and knees as he took in this world-shattering reality. His family believed he was dead. They accepted he left them and moved on. He, the living embodiment of their regrets, failures and awful past, was nothing more than an ugly memory they hoped would fade away soon. The poor soul felt himself drown in a sea of abject misery and crackling flames. The house was nearly completely engulfed in the searing hot fire of his pain.
'I'm dead to them. They've already moved on from me. The quirkless failure with no reason to live. No... I did have a role here. I was the living embodiment of everything they wanted dead. I wanted to be a hero, but I was born to be their villain. And villains don't get happy endings.'
He had no idea how long he was sitting there, crying over the death of himself. The attic was Izuku picked himself up to his feet and walked to the shrine. He pulled off his red sneakers and placed them down to burn. He reached into the smallest compartment of his backpack and pulled out an ultra rare All Might trading card. He placed it in front of its owner. The silently bawling boy put his hands together in a praying manner. He stood there as the flames caused the attic to collapse and the shrine to burn. He closed his eyes as the burning tears still slipped through.
'You didn't deserve to live the way you did. Your life was a nightmare. At least now, you can finally be free from it. Don't worry, I'll show your family what real Hell is. Call it a farewell gift from the Green Devil.'
The roof of the house collapsed and the floor was falling into the ground floor. The Green Devil fell down at the end of his prayer. When he opened his eyes, he saw them. The Yagi's and Bakugo outside of the doorway. The people who made Izuku's life hell to the end. His eyes shot open into a crazed, volatile glare, bloodshot orbs with pin sized pupils. His tears evaporated in an instant.
The entire house was engulfed in a massive pillar of green fire, destroying the structure that had been their home for so long. Hisashi Midoriya, Nana Shimura and Izuku Yagi all burned away in the wake of the Green Devil. From the inside of rapidly collapsing house, the devil raised his hands in front of him and released two gargantuan explosions at the family of hypocrites. The recoil sent him flying away, just as he wanted. He needed to get away from them.
The Green Devil had explosions from his hands, jet flames from the soles of his feet and large wings on his back. His speed was incredible, and he essentially became a large flaming missle that burned, melted or incinerated everything in its path. His fire continued to grow larger and wider as he crashed through house after house of his childhood neighborhood. The flames of disaster spread so quickly and burned so hot, dozens of lives were lost with each passing moment, and he had no intention of stopping anytime soon.
The scale of destruction was unprecedented, and the one responsible was gritting his teeth as everything replayed in his mind. In one particular house, he briefly saw faces from Aldera. His fire expanded into triple the size of house. 'You'll pay...!' He thought as he cremated his abusers. Continuing straight, he came across a familiar playground.
"Come on, Izuku! Let's play Heroes and Villains!" Izumi said enthusiastically. The boy was trembling in place. "O-Okay, but why am I-I the villain everytime?" Kacchan came up to answer that. "Isn't it obvious?" he asked as he ignited his quirk, striking fear into the green-haired boy. "Unlike you, we heroes don't lose!"
Present
"RRGGHHAAAAAHHH!!!" The devil released a blood-curdling howl that echoed through Musutafu. His flames grew even stronger, his power having the size of a large building. He left behind nothing but smoldering earth, hundreds of instantly cremated corpses, causing a mile-wide trail of destruction that only grew wider. There was no apparent end to the emerald inferno that consumed everything in its path.
Finally, the Green Devil saw the worst of his hells, Aldera Junior High. His speed increased, for the first time he was eager to reach the school. "BURN IN HELL, EVERY LAST ONE OF YOU!!" At this point, he looked like a green sun gliding across the earth, as tall as a skyscraper. Aldera was wiped clean off the face of the Earth in an instant, followed by hundreds of others. Suddenly, small explosions began appearing all around the devil. They grew in size, even across the trail of flames he left behind for a little extra destruction. They continued to grow until...
A massive, gargantuan explosion ravaged everything for a mile and a half. As the green sun detonated, the flames behind him flared up greatly before almost entirely going out. Izuku- no, the Green Devil picked himself up out of a crater. He felt better after working out his pain, and saw the damage it did. As far as the I could see, nothing but ash and cinders. Hundreds of innocent lives, destroyed in an instant by him. Strangely though, he barely felt any disturbance at that fact.
Thunder growled over his head and lightning flashed, followed by a sudden heavy downpour of rain. Without a word, he turned his back to the destruction, and flew away with his quirk. This world is now home to a newly born devil, and what was left in the wake of his birth? A scorched graveyard.
