Ra is sitting in his room in the arena, on his throne, leaning his head on his fist, looking down at the screen that has appeared in front of him. 'Heaven's next candidate: Yu Huang'.
Osiris smirks. "Looks like things are working in our favor. Did Master Yu Huang not wish to be replaced?"
Ra smirks, leaning his head back. "Yes. Michael truly worked out flawlessly," He says with a satisfied smirk.
Osiris claps a little. "As expected of you, lord Ra. May I ask, out of curiosity. Had Yu Huang refused… who would be his replacement?"
Ra snaps his fingers, the giant sphinx workers picking up his throne to walk them out to the chariot-lot. "That was never going to happen. I would like him to fight. Therefore… he will."
Osiris smiles. "Ah. How foolish of me to even consider."
-Akashic Records-
Pandora is sitting against the wall of the room, panting and heaving, sweat dripping down her forehead. "I'm so… I'm so sorry Michael." She bites her lip, tears streaming down her face. Even as she tries to wipe them away, more just keep coming. "I did this to you. I'm so selfish. I'm the worst…" She whispers to herself when the door shoots open and she hears the loud SLAMMING of the door and she jumps in the corner.
"OOOOOI! Is that sadness I hear!?" A familiar voice calls out. Pandora looks up her eyes sparkling as she sees Wukong squatted down in front of her, head slightly tilted, a look of concern and curiosity on his face. "What's up?"
Pandora swiftly wipes her tears away. "It's nothing… I'm just… tired."
Wukong sighs. "Right. Tired. Got it. Where's that kid with the wing at anyway? It's his damn JOB to cheer you up." He says glancing around for Icarus. However when he notes Pandora burying her face in her knees again at the mention of him he puts the pieces together. "Hm," He stands up, taking a deep breath slamming his staff into the floor. "QUIT CRYING, YOU BABY!" He suddenly yells and Pandora jumps a little looking up at him. "You are the general of humanity now! Tired! Sad! Exhausted! It doesn't matter! Stand up! Puff out your chest! Be proud! Be strong! Show that bird-brain Icarus that he's a DUMBASS for betraying you! Show him you're SERIOUS! I don't know the story and I don't care!" He holds his hand down to her. "Get up and make your race proud!"
Pandora's eyes start filling with tears as she reaches up for his hand. "I want to. I really do! But… they ALL hate me. Even… Icarus,"
Wukong picks his ear with a slightly confused look. "Heeeeh? Not what I heard honestly."
"Huh?"
"I asked around. And THESE GUYS don't hate ya!" He says holding out his hands and as if on cue a few people enter.
"It would appear that our general is doubting herself. Perhaps a signed copy would cheer you up," Says Sun Tzu holding up a copy of his book, The Art of War.
"..." Beethoven silently looks down at her, putting his fingers at the edges of his mouth forcing it into a smile.
"Woof!" Suddenly Pandora is assaulted by Ichiko, licking her face. "Don't feel down! Feel happy! You are one of my favorite humans!" Ichiko barks at her.
Sakai enters. "Quite the establishment in here. Good to meet you all,"
"Ma'am! I promise! If it would cheer you up, that I would write 'Heil Pandora' across the heavens themselves!" Erich Hartmann says saluting her. "Say the word ma'am!"
There's a loud thud as Benkei steps in, the giant man towering over the rest. "Benkei has asked the people he guides. We agree. Pandora is no burden on humanity."
"Yeah. Honestly that story about 'the queen of sin'? GREATLY exaggerated," Houdini says leaned against the wall on the other side of the room. No one even noticed him enter.
Pandora feels her eyes welling up with tears as she looks at the humans she chose to represent humanity, all coming to cheer her on. "You guys… thank you…"
Wukong looks around a little, before holding out his arms. "I'd say with these guys here! What'cha got to worry about!?" He says holding his arms out to the side, to gesture to the group of fighters.
Pandora's eyes swell up even more with tears before she jumps up. "Y-yeah!" She says smiling happily as she wipes her tears away, everyone flashing a brief smile or smirk at her, seeing her back on her feet. She hears a beeping sound and looks up at the screen for the akashic records, where a pop-up appears. Next up: Yu Huang. Everyone suddenly quiets down.
"Well that's not a comforting sight," Houdini says leaned against the wall.
"Benkei is NOT happy about this…" Benkei adds.
Ichiko tilts his head looking slightly confused and Sun Tzu kneels down to scratch its head. "Yu Huang is a chief god. He was the ruler of Heaven for quite a while," he explains and Ichiko whimpers a little.
Erich stands tall and salutes. "Worry not everyone! I am sure Fraulein Pandora, our great general, has a plan!" He says and Pandora nods.
"Yeah… for once I know EXACTLY what to do! Our next contender is YOU!" She yells pointing rather dramatically.
As everyone heads out, Houdini pauses as Wukong passes him. "What about Arthur? And Dante…? I'm guessing you found them. But why didn't they show up?"
Wukong's gaze darkens as he looks down. "I did find both of them. Arthur had some… choice words to say about Pandora."
"A hero of humanity is not someone who needs to be 'cheered up' by others. They are the ones who raise morale with their mere presence. Pandora is no hero in my eyes." He recalls.
"Hmpf. Sounds like him. What about Dante?"
Wukong shrugs. "Beats me. He said something about it not being time for his 'character's introduction' yet. Weirdo."
Houdini smirks and walks off. "Sounds like we got some troubled minds on our side doesn't it. Well… I gotta go prepare for my show. See ya, Monkey King," He says and Wukong blinks, and in that same time Houdini disappears as if turned to mist.
After parting, everyone but Sakai, Ichiko and Wukong leave to do their own things again, Ichiko staying by her side to make sure she's alright. Sakai of course staying because they are partners. Wukong meanwhile simply wants to see Yu Huang fight. Pandora grips the railing tightly. "Please win… Please," She mutters, holding her hands over her heart.
Ichiko barks assuredly and howls a little. "I believe in your choice! I do!"
"Yeah. But against THAT bastard. Who knows what could happen?" Wukong says crossing his big arms.
Heimdall excitedly jumps into the arena. "Aaaaaalright Gods and goddesses! Ladies and gentlemen! It is time to announce the next match-up for the ending of humanity! RAGNAROK!" Loud cheers erupt through the arena, though humanity is still a little torn from losing Michael. Ra sits on his throne with a rather arrogant smirk on his face, Osiris standing behind him with an equally happy look on his face. "First up! HEAVEN! Since the dawn of time! Long before even the Big Bang, Heaven has existed in perfect harmony! Divided by our pantheons, though we may be, we have ALWAYS had the Heavenly council! And for eons upon eons the reason for this was THIS GOD ALONE!" Heimdall yells into his Gjallarhorn pointing to the gods' entrance hall. As he does, suddenly the sky darkens and everyone looks up seeing tons of dragons flying overhead. Wyverns, Drakes, Xulong, many more kinds, each of them roaring into the sky, landing on the roof of the arena looking down into the arena as Yu Huang steps out into the light, a small fire-drake perching on his arm while the other holds a large opulent dragon-headed spear with the blade appearing to be modeled after the flames coming out of its mouth.. "More ancient than even Zeus this god is more humble and kinder than most! Yet regardless of his kindness, his radiant presence causes the dragons which soar the skies, the angels that care for all, the very Heavens, bow in homage to his authority!" As Yu Huang gets into the middle of the arena, every large dragon on the roofs of the arena bows their heads down to him and he smiles up at them with a simple nod. "Though his form may appear gentle and serene, do not be mistaken! For within the depths of his soul resides a power that transcends all of dragon-kind! A power with the strength of a thousand storms, tempered by wisdom of ages past! The Jade Palace sits comfortably as one of the strongest pantheons in all of Heaven! BECAUSE OF HIM! He leads Heaven's angels with a firm but kind hand, he treats all with respect and kindness! Yet make no mistake! There is nothing this man will not do to protect what he loves with the fury of a hundred dragons!" Yu Huang holds his arm up as the tiny drake on his arm weakly flies into the sky, giving an adorable screech as the grown gigantic dragons around the arena roar, breathing fire of all colors of the rainbow, meeting in the middle for a spectacular fireball of swirling colors. "REJOICE Humanity! For you will witness the power of HEAVEN'S STRONGEST MAGE! Presenting! The Commander of Angels! The eternal guardian of dragons! THE JADE EMPEROR! THE CELESTIAL SAFE! YUUUUUU HUAAAAAANG!"
The crowd explodes with cheer from the gods' side as Yu Huang claps happily himself seeing the tiny fire drake flying. "Good. See how happy everyone is that you have taken your first flaps? Now fly to your mother little one," He says and the drake spits a little fireball of happiness before it flies up to one of the giant dragons on the roof. "Thank you all for cheering him on."
The gods all look slightly confused. "Huh? We weren't cheering for some little dumb whelp!" A particularly loud god yells.
Yu Huang sends the god a single look. "He has been struggling for a long time to fly. Please show some respect," The god immediately slumps down in his seat.
Izanagi and Izanami have also arrived for this round, Tsukuyomi standing next to his mother's seat, fixing his mask. "I can't believe uncle Yu Huang is actually fighting…"
"Yes dear. It is quite unbelievable. I too had thought that of all gods he would choose someone to replace him," Izanami says putting her hand on her cheek.
Izanagi crosses his arms. "He did. The moment he knew he was on the roster he chose his replacement."
Tsukuyomi glances over. "Do… you know whom he picked father?"
Izanagi nods. "Me. However I imagine Michael's fall has caused him to wish to fight."
Yu Huang looks to Heimdall with a soft smile. "Ah and Heimdall. Please. There is no need to exaggerate. I know many gods who excel at magic more so than I."
Heimdall scratches the back of his neck. "Yeah… right. My apologies, master Yu Huang. NOW! Your opponent!" He points to the humans' gate. "What does it truly mean to conquer!? That is a question asked by all nations across the land of Earth! The Roman empire! The colonists who sought new lands! The Mongolian armies of old! Yet one nation took their conquest so far that nearly all of the world banded together to stop them! That nation was Germany! And yet amongst all the soldiers fighting with and against them! One man stood out! The man who is said to conquer an entire space of the battlefield on his own!" Suddenly there's a loud WOOSH overhead as some dragons shield their young from the wind. Heimdall looks up in surprise as a plane comes RUSHING over the arena. It appears slightly old, made of simple metal plating and even has a propeller still. Yet also not as ancient as there is jet propulsion at the back. The cockpit is seated in a large glass sphere of sorts allowing the pilot to look down at well as around with ease, guns mounted on both wings and even a few missiles, with more weapons strapped to the bottom of it. "Flying in his Bf 109G, this man participated in a nearly ENDLESS series of battles and missions for his nation! Over a THOUSAND successful flights for his country! Over 300 confirmed enemy planes shot down! This man holds the unparalleled throne of the sky amongst all of humanity within the palm of his hand!" The plane shoots into the sky and begins emitting smoke from the back as he starts to write. "In the dark boiling crucible of combat, few men can claim to take to the skies as swiftly, bravely and easily as this man, his wings of steel cutting through the storms of tumultuous war! With his skill and bravery this man etched his name into legend!" The plane finishes its writing, reading 'Hail Pandora!' and Pandora smiles up at it as the plane nose-dives down towards the arena. "And now here he comes, taking flight once more, ready to carve his name and soul into the eternity of Heaven!" It slows down as the jet engines suddenly tilt down, and a few smaller ones under the wings and nose of the plane begin firing allowing it to sit perfectly still in the air. "Here he is! Humanity's Greatest Fighter Pilot! The Black Devil of The Air! THE IRON CROSS AVIATOR! THE AERIAL ACE! ERIIIIIICH HARTMAAAAAAAANN!" Heimdall yells out as Hartmann gets out of the cockpit, hopping onto the wing of the plane waving to the crowd.
However… instead of cheers he is met with silence. For a simple reason. The swastika on the tailfin of his plane. However he doesn't stop waving and smiling. "Thank you thank you! So nice of you Heimdall!" He smiles down at Yu Huang. "SO! I will be fighting you! I look forward to it!"
Yu Huang taps his spear against the ground. "I see you are in a machine of some kind. Will you be battling me in that?"
"YEP!" Hartmann jumps into the plane against and it BLASTS straight up into the air. "So come and get me!" He yells and his voice echoes out from the plane through some kind of speaker-system.
Yu Huang sighs. "Perhaps it was folly of me to fight. There are many gods more suited to aerial combat than I. However!" He reaches down grabbing hold of one of the small jade jewels on his belt, resembling a curled up dragon. He holds his hands in a handsign around it and it starts to float between his fingers. "I will do my utmost," He begins to glow with deep green energy. "Oh great dragon of the skies. May I be blessed with the power that even slightly compared to yours. Gone you may be, but your keeper needs you!" His eyes shoot open as suddenly the jewel fires a MASSIVE jade dragon-beast out of it, spiraling into the sky, creating small clouds beneath it as it runs into the air, before floating back down, swooping across the arena and Yu Huang jumps onto it's head before launching into the sky after Hartmann's plane. FULL DRACOMANCY: XULONG!
"Oho!" Hartmann laughs. "Now THAT'S cool! This is gonna be SO much fun!" He yells out as the two hover a ways away from one another.
Heimdall thinks for a moment and screens appear, showing the two of them. "It appears the stage is set! It's a fight to answer the age-old question of human children across the world! Who would win!? A jet plane!? Or a dragon?! LET THE SEVENTH ROUND OF RAGNAROK! BEGIN!" The two of them move immediately, Hartmann blasting forward, and firing his guns at the dragon while Yu Huang's dragon simply charges with its long green body, roaring at him.
