Chapter 4: Alter
Minato looked up at Hiruzen. He felt a twitch come to his eye, and his shoulders sagged. "Oh, this is not going to go over well," he rubbed his face with a chuckle. "May I ask who?"
Hiruzen smiled and handed over the files to the young jounin who read the file.
"Obito Uchiha and Rin Nohara, you do realize Kakashi and Obito can't get along right?"
"Another reason why they should be placed together." Minato nodded.
"Yes sir, may I ask about Naru?"
"She'll receive one teammate, the other fitted for her did not pass," Minato nodded. "Give Sakumo the news as well."
Minato nodded and left with a bow. 'This is gonna be a headache.'
He searched for the two genin training with Sakumo on their lightning style.
"Here," Minato handed the file to Sakumo who read it and arched his brow.
"Really?" Minato nodded and watched both kids move in sync. "One for me and two for you…"
"A rivalry no less,"
"It'll keep Kakashi on his toes,"
"We do a team introduction in two weeks."
Kakashi's eye twitched as the adults announced that they would be joining a separate team from their current two-man cell.
"I don't want any new teammates!" Kakashi protested.
"Kakashi you don't have a say, it's happened whether you like it or not,"
"I don't want to be around baby genin.." He grumbled.
"You're a baby genin, just because they're a few months behind they are still genin just like you."
"Well … why isn't Naru getting any?!" He pointed to the girl.
"She is, only one teammate though."
"Who are they?"
"I guess you'll find out in two weeks," Minato said, Sakumo nodded with a smirk.
"Does this mean we have to take those baby D-ranks again?" Naru asked, Kakashi pouted and kicked at the dirt.
"Maybe a few, but certain things you'll stick to the way it is, and when that happens we'll combine the two teams to train in between."
"Well I guess it won't be so bad, can we finish sparring now?"
"No, we have a surprise for you," Sakumo answered.
"What?" Naru's eyes glittered, and Kakashi glanced at his father.
"We're taking you to the weapons store so you can pick out specialized weapons to master and make your own."
Both fathers brought their kids to the specialized weapons store, Naru practically kicked up dirt as they arrived and rushed into the building.
Kakashi paused outside as Minato followed his daughter, Sakumo looked at his son. "Kakashi?"
"How will I know what to pick?"
"You'll feel it, trust me, don't think too hard, the right one will call to you." He pushed Kakashi inside and laughed as Minato raced after Naru who was ahead running around.

I walked into the large building and took in the various metals, swords, kunai, shuriken, and more that glittered on the wall. 'Whoa…'
I followed the aisles and found myself in the katana and tanto sections, I grunted as I stood on my toes to see the written plaques of information, I couldn't wait to hit a growth spurt.
"This is a special handcrafted blade from the land of Iron, it's made to allow the chakra to enter and form an extension to give further reach," I looked at the old shopkeeper as he brought the katana down. The handle was wrapped in blue satin and the blade was black and white with a thin clear line down the middle. "But it's difficult, it seems you need a special kind of chakra to wield it, wanna try?" I nodded took the blade and focused my chakra, I watched as my silver chakra glowed and filled the line, the blade vibrated and warmed in my palms. "Well, it seems you found your blade, young man," I smiled and turned to my father who nodded to the shopkeeper.
"We'll take it, and a few other things."
"I'll get the sheath and have it upfront." He gently took the blade and walked past.
"Thanks, Dad,"
"Naru!" Minato yelped from the other aisle, Sakumo laughed as Naru practically terrorized Minato.
"I think she's a little excited," I murmured.
"I think she loves terrorizing Minato." I nodded knowing full well he was right.
I let Dad lead me to the straps and belts and help fit me into a few before we grabbed multiple weapons I could start mastering.
Naru
Tou-chan's eye twitched as I slowed and entered the tanto aisle. "You're not funny," He huffed.
"I think I am," I stuck my tongue out at him. I looked at the blades and decided I had scared him enough, now it was time to get serious and find myself a weapon. My eyes caught sight of a tanto with white gray and gold designs, I thanked the shopkeeper as he handed the blade to me at my asking. "This is a great blade with Wind style and water style.
"Perfect!" I exclaimed, I ran my fingers down the blade and shivered as I felt right holding the blade.
"This needs a sheath picked out for it, the best for this size would either be a middle back or a back hip one," I nodded and looked at the sheaths and tried a few on before deciding on the hip style that could attach to other weapon pouches.
"Thank you for the help," I bowed as he nodded and brought what I picked out to the front. "Tou-chan!"
"What did you break?"
"Nothing!" I put my hands on my hips and huffed. "Are senbon hard to master?"
"A might, you must have agility and dexterity mastered, I think a shuriken would be more up your alley." I followed him to the various-sized shuriken and listened as he instructed me how to hold and maneuver with the large shuriken.
"This is fun!" I exclaimed and continued to shop before we headed up to the front finding Kakashi with two bags and a blade strapped to his side. "A katana?"
"Yeah, it's cool." He replied.
"I picked out a tanto and giant shuriken!" He nodded as Tou-chan paid and I strapped my new blade and pouches around my waist. "We're totally badass now."
"Naru Namikaze!"
I hunched with a giggle and headed out with Kakashi and sensei with a promise to begin training in the morning of our new weapons

I cocked my head as I helped Kaa-chan do the dishes. "So, we're gonna go shopping?"
"Mmhmm," She nodded. "It's time you get a style you like, something comfortable and practical." She looked at my average long sleeves and baggy pants I wore on missions and training. "Plus I have a special surprise too."
"What?!" I chirped, and she shook her head.
"You'll find out tomorrow." I slumped my shoulders but nodded.

Naru and Kushina walked out early the next morning with Minato's wallet and a vague answer to their destinations leaving the man nervous and confused. Both walked into the large clothing store and began to shop and grab different styles before heading to the changing room.
Kushina helped Naru slide on various clothes creating a different style for her until they decided on a final look.
She wore a short-sleeve yukata shirt that folded to the left it was white with purple lining that went past her hips with a slit up the side, and a corset-like covered her front with a swirled leaf pattern on the sides, under she had a long sleeve mesh shirt that looped around her thumbs with medium-length gloves on. She wore a pair of black pants with straps around her thighs and calps with multiple pockets, a pair of ankle shinobi sandals that had a small Konoha pin attached to the zipper.
"I love it!" Kushina smiled, Naru twirled in the mirror and nodded rapidly.
"Can we get the clan symbol on it somewhere?"
"Of course," Kushina smiled and helped her change back into her regular clothes before they bought multiple copies. "Once they arrive we'll get them embroidered.
"I guess we should save some of your father's money huh?" Kushina smiled as they dropped off the original set to get the Namikaze and Uzumaki symbols on the back and sleeves. "Plus we head for your surprise tonight,"
"Where?"
"We're going to a Uzushiogakure temple in the land of Fire to see your grandfather and learn some clan-specialized jutsu."
"Really!? Cool!" Naru cheered.
Kushina smiled as she walked into their home finding Minato cleaning the kitchen. "Well I like this," She purred, he smiled kissing her lips. "Go pack,"
"Heading out?"
"Yeah, can you manage to cook for a few days?"
"Yes, I'm not that bad Kushina." He deadpanned, she kissed his cheek and walked to their room to pack her bag.
Naru waved at Minato as she and her mother left the village on their journey.
"So, this temple how come we've never gone before?"
"It's a high-class secret temple, I was going to take you to Uzushiogakure until my father said he'd be here for a couple of months,"
Both mother and daughter traveled for two hours before they came to a temple with the Uzumaki symbol above the door. Naru stared in awe as the doors opened and some guards nodded to them both and directed them to the series of rooms ready for guests.
"You know the Uzumaki clan is renowned for their fuinjutsu styles, no one can compare," Kushina said as she unpacked. "We'll start you on basic sealing of items and unsealing and as time goes on you'll learn how to use sealing on people."
"What purpose does sealing people have?"
"Not sealing people, but take me for example, I have a seal on me,"
"For Kyuubi!"
"Exactly, seals have many uses and can come in handy for chakra reserves or your father's new style of transportation." Naru nodded crawling on the bed as a knock sounded.
"Is that my little granddaughter?"
"Grandpa!" Naru squealed and jumped into the man's arms giggling as he spun her around.
"I heard you're ready to learn sealing,"
"Yep! I'm a grown genin now!" she puffed her chest as he put her down.
"Well Lady Naru, please follow me." He smiled and bowed, she smiled and walked out following him as he began to show her around.
Kushina finished unpacking before looking for her daughter and father finding them in the meeting hall where Naru lay on the floor painting seals slowly.
"Thank you," She smiled. He chuckled and rubbed her head gently. "How is home?"
"We're having to strengthen our border patrol, the impending war seems to have made some brazen." He said with a frown. "Nothing we can't handle." Kushina nodded.
"Done!" Naru chirped, Kushina crouched next to her and nodded. "Now add chakra into it, go over the strokes with chakra in your fingers."
Naru focused her chakra shimmered a pale gold and looked at Kushina's blue chakra. "Chakra is inherently blue, but with great control and reserves it can take on a different color, like your father has green, Sakumo's is white." She explained the unasked question. "Go over the words until they glow with chakra, not too much or it will burn the paper,"
Naru practiced for an hour but found the symbols barely shining with chakra, she pouted until Kushina explained that fuinjutsu was not something that could not be done in the blink of an eye.
Two days passed for them and Naru excelled after rest and began to do basic sealing into scrolls before she left was gifted her a personal medium-sized scroll that with a strap could be worn on her back.
Naru held her head up proudly as they walked back into Konoha.
"Well look who's back," Naru turned to Sakumo and waved at him.
"A mission?"
"Yeah, Kakashi has been with Minato while I was gone,"
"Sure they didn't burn the house down?"
"I'm telling him you said that," Kushina teased and began to run down the road with Naru on her heels.
Once Kakashi left with his father and they ate dinner Naru began to tell her father all about her studies and secrets she was shown of the temple.
"Well, I have one more surprise then it's off to bed," Minato said, Naru nodded stifling a yawn then gasped as Minato held out a pendant that was lighte blue with silver wrapped around it on a thick leather.
"It's so pretty!"
"It has my seal so I can reach you no matter how far," He kissed her head, she slipped the necklace on and smiled at it.
"Thank you Tou-chan!"
"And your clothes came while you were gone too."
"Sweet!"
"Get some rest, you meet your teammates tomorrow!" He called, Kushina sat in his lap and kissed him.
"Date night?
"Yes please," He purred.

"What!?" Kakashi snarled, Minato rubbed his head as they waited for their new teammates to arrive.
"It's not that bad Kakashi,"
"Why them?!"
"Because they are best suited, so suck it up." Kakashi huffed with a pout.
"Who am I getting?"
"Hotaru," Sakumo answered.
"Cool,"
"How does she get someone she likes and I get them?!"
"It's Obito and Rin, you were in the same class, it's noones fault but your own that you wouldn't make more friends than Naru,"
Kakashi kicked at the dirt and muttered under his breath.
"Naru!" She turned smiling at Hotaru as she ran up and waved to Sakumo. The girl was seven like Naru but tall for her age with brown hair with green tips, pale blue eyes and fair skin.
"Okay girls let's go," Sakumo said ushering the two away as they giggled and talked catching up the past few months.
"If we're waiting on Obito we'll be here all night,"
"Enough Kakashi."
"Sorry I'm late sensei!" Rin said running up, Minato greeted her with a smile.
"You're right on time actually. Nice to meet you Rin,"
She nodded to him and turned to Kakashi a blush on her face. "Hi Kakashi," He grunted in return until Minato bumped him from behind.
"Hi,"
"Introduce yourself,"
"I'm Nohara Rin! I like being with my friends and protecting my village, I don't like useless fights or people acting brave or stupid! My hobbies are studying and helping my friends and my dream is to be an amazing medic ninja that will always help my comrades!"
The three waited around for another ten minutes before Obito ran up with a lollipop in his mouth.
"It's good to finally meet ya! Everyone has introduced themselves you're last,"
Obito grinned widely.
"I'm gonna be Hokage! My name is Uchiha Obito! For my stone face, I'm gonna make sure my trademark goggles and sharingan are nicely carved out!" He said adjuting the blue and oranga gear. "So I can glare at the neighboring lands! I'll scare the hell out of 'em with my sharingan stare and no one will dare attack our village!" Kakashi scoffed with an eye roll, Minato smiled at him.
"Tsk! Rattle off your instructions after you become Hokage and activate your sharingan!" Kakashi snipped. "Anyways, how can they carve your shainrgan if you're wearing goggles?"
"They can carve it over my goggles!"
"Then it would look like your eyeballs are popping out," Rin giggled, Obito frowned looking down thinking of the image.
"Anyways, I'm happy someone on this team shares my dream," Minato smiled, Obito looked up at him. "You know me as Naru's father but I'm Minato and I'll be your sensei from now on, glad to meet you."
"YES!" Obito cheered giving a thumbs up, Kakashi sneered at the boy and stared at the grass.
