The hum of the car filled the quiet evening as Dino drove down the empty streets, glancing occasionally at Hibari, who was in the passenger seat with a bag of snacks. They'd just come back from the convenience store, and Hibari looked far too pleased with his loot, casually unwrapping a packet of chips.
"Do you always buy this much?" Dino chuckled, his tone warm. "Not that I can't afford it, but are you trying to make me broke or something?"
Hibari, with all the grace of a feline ignoring an unnecessary comment, didn't even look at him. Instead, he opened the bag of chips with practiced ease, popping one into his mouth without a word.
"Oi, at least share," Dino teased.
Still, Hibari didn't respond, not even sparing him a glance. Dino laughed softly, shaking his head as he focused on the road. His smile lingered—it wasn't like he expected Hibari to suddenly turn generous, but there was something amusing about how serious he was about snacks.
They hit a red traffic light, and Dino eased the car to a stop. He leaned back in his seat, tapping his fingers on the steering wheel in rhythm with the quiet song playing on the radio.
Then, without warning, Hibari reached out toward him. Dino blinked, glancing over to see Hibari holding a Pepero stick toward him.
"Oh?" Dino said, tilting his head in surprise. "For me?"
Hibari didn't answer, but the way he was holding it—one end gripped in his fingers, the other sticking out of his mouth—made the gesture crystal clear.
Dino's lips curved into a grin. "Well, don't mind if I do," he said smoothly.
Instead of taking the offered stick from Hibari's hand, Dino reached over, grabbed his wrist gently, and leaned in, biting the other end of the Pepero straight from Hibari's mouth. The chocolate snapped between them, and Dino leaned back with an easy smile, chewing thoughtfully.
"Thanks," he said, just as the traffic light turned green. He released Hibari's wrist, put his hand back on the wheel, and drove off as though nothing out of the ordinary had just happened.
Hibari sat frozen, the Pepero stick he was holding still suspended in the air. His brain raced to process what had just happened, and the realization hit him all at once.
His cheeks flushed a deep red, and he snapped the Pepero in half angrily before shoving the pieces into his mouth. "Stupid," he muttered under his breath, biting the snack with more force than necessary.
Dino glanced over at him and chuckled. "What was that?"
"Nothing," Hibari snapped, avoiding his gaze as he chewed furiously, glaring out the window.
Dino chuckled again, his grin widening. Moments like this—seeing Hibari's rare, flustered reactions—were worth every penny spent on snacks.
