The warm afternoon sunlight streamed through the windows of Dino's office, casting a golden glow over the room. Hibari sat on the couch, arms crossed, a bored expression on his face as he waited for Dino to finish signing off on some paperwork.
Dino glanced up from his desk, pen tapping thoughtfully against the wood. He'd been eyeing Hibari for a while now, noticing the subtle changes in the younger man—the sharpness in his features, the slightly broader shoulders, and the way he carried himself with even more confidence than before.
Unable to resist, Dino set his pen down and leaned back in his chair, a playful smile tugging at his lips.
"Kyoya," he began, his tone suspiciously casual.
Hibari raised an eyebrow, already wary of the grin on Dino's face. "What?"
Dino tilted his head, feigning curiosity. "Have you… hit puberty yet?"
The room fell silent.
Hibari blinked, his expression morphing into something between disbelief and irritation. "…What did you just say?"
"I mean," Dino continued, undeterred, "you're so small sometimes, I wonder if you're really grown up yet." He gestured vaguely at Hibari's frame, though he was fully aware that Hibari's lithe build was deceptive—he was more than capable of taking down anyone, including Dino himself.
Hibari's eyes narrowed dangerously, a faint flush creeping up his neck. "Say that again," he said, his voice low and threatening.
Dino chuckled nervously, waving his hands in mock surrender. "I'm kidding, I'm kidding! You just have this youthful vibe, you know? It's a compliment!"
Hibari stood up abruptly, his aura radiating annoyance as he stalked toward Dino. "Do you think I won't bite you to death right here, Cavallone?"
Dino leaned back in his chair, laughing nervously but unable to stop himself from teasing further. "Hey, take it easy! No need to get all worked up. See? Getting all riled up just proves my point—so immature."
Hibari's fists clenched, and for a moment, Dino thought he might actually get hit. But instead, Hibari reached forward, grabbed Dino's tie, and yanked him forward, their faces inches apart.
"Want me to prove how grown up I am?" Hibari growled, his voice low and dangerously calm.
Dino froze, blinking rapidly as heat crept up his cheeks. "O-okay, point taken," he stammered, suddenly realizing he might've taken the joke a bit too far.
Hibari released him with a scoff, turning to leave the office. "Stupid Haneuma," he muttered under his breath, the faintest hint of a blush on his cheeks as he walked out.
Dino sat back, adjusting his tie with a sheepish laugh. "Guess that answers my question…" he murmured to himself, a grin creeping back onto his face despite the close call.
