Ch 19 Confessions
Scar laughed evilly as Kion's head snapped back and his eyes closed. The evil lion looked over and saw that Zira had succeeded in knocking Kopa out could. "Kill him Zira," Scar commanded when Zira looked over at him. "I'll dispose of the traitor."
"Yes Scar," Zira said as she advanced on Kopa while Scar did the same with Kion. But before either one of them could act Kike suddenly cried out. "Stop!"
"You dare interfere?!" Scar thundered, whipping his head towards the young lioness, who gulped in fear.
"F...forgive me Scar," Kike stammered. "B...but I thought you should know Simba and his lionesses are heading this way!"
"We'd better go," Zira said. "It'll be the death of us both if Simba catches us." Scar let out a growl but said nothing as he knew that Zira was right.
"We'll go to the Dark Lands," Scar declared. "King Alamine is a friend of mine. He'll allow us to stay."
"Come Kovu," Zira said, turning to fetch her son. But to her shock Kovu was gone as was Vitani. "Damn it where the Hell did he go?" Zira hissed, looking around for her youngest son.
"Zira there's no time!" Cala cried out as the roars of Simba and his Pride got nearer. Zira growled and went with her Pride, knowing she'd have to look for Kovu another time. By the time Simba and his Pride got there Scar and Zira were gone.

Simba and his lionesses reached the Outlands and to his horror Simba saw his sons lying motionless on the ground, blood pooling all around them. "Great Kings Above!" Simba cried out, running to his sons.
"My babies!" Nala cried at the same time as she too raced towards he fallen sons. Simba had reached Kion first so Nala ran to Kopa.
"How...how bad are they?" Sarafina asked, her voice shaking as the tears came to her eyes as she took in her grandsons' bloodied states.
"They're alive," Simba said, looking over at Nala, who nodded. "Kion had a pretty bad gash on his head. That's why there's so much blood."
"Same thing with Kopa," Nala chimed in. "We need to get them back so Rafiki can look at them."
"Agreed," Simba said as he gently picked up Kion and put him on his back while Nala did the same with Kopa. The group headed back to Pride Rock not knowing that Kovu and Vitani had been hiding in the bushes along with Kike. The trio followed closely behind the others, making sire they were quiet as they could be.

A little while later the group was back at Pride Rock and Rafiki was examining the Princes. Just then Kike came onto the scene and joined the others. Kovu and Vitani had been instructed to stay hidden just outside the cave until Kike could explain to Simba what was happening. "I just heard," the beige lioness said. "How are they?"
"No news yet," Simba said as he paced.
"King Simba there's something I need to tell you," Kike began, ready to confess everything and beg for mercy. But before she could say more Rafiki emerged from the cave.
"Rafiki how are my boys?" Simba asked as he, Nala, Sarafina and Sarabi approached the old mandrill.
"De Princes will be just fine," Rafiki said with a smile. "Just some minor scratches and bruises but nothing to serious. I did have to patch up de cut dat was on der heads but dat was not vedy serious. Dey are awake if you would like to see dem."
"Thank you Rafiki," Simba said with a smile as he and Nala dashed inside the cave to see their sons.

As the King and Queen entered the cave they saw Kiara sitting with her brother chatting away. Simba and Nala ran to their sons and nuzzled them. "Oh my sweet boys I'm so glad you both are alright," Nala said as she licked her sons.
"You both had us quite worried," Simba out in. "What exactly happened?"
"Zira went crazy!" Kopa cried out. "Again. Me and Kiara saw her grab Kion and take off with him. So I ran after them. And its a good thing I did because Zira was about to kill Kion when I stopped her!" Kopa was talking a mile a minute as he remember the horrifying ordeal.
"Its alright honey," Nala said, wrapping her paws around Kopa, who by now was shaking. "Its alright my sweet Kopa. You're safe now."
"You both are," Simba said, smiling at Kion. But the golden King saw that Kion had a guilty look on his face. "Kion?" Simba said gently. "What's wrong son?"
"Its all my fault," Kion whispered. "Kopa got hurt because of me."
"That isn't true Ky," Kopa said, shocked at his brother's words. "Zira was the one that..."
"She only got so mad because of me," Kion cried out, surprising his family.
"What do you mean son?" Simba asked.
"I was trying to right a wrong," Kion said. "But it backfired."
"Honey what wrong were you trying to right?" Nala asked with confusion.
"Scar," Kion said softly, looking down at the ground in shame. "Its my fault Scar escaped."
"Kion that's not true," Simba said.
"Yes it is Dad!" Kion cried out. "I helped Scar escape! I was talking to him for weeks and he had me completely convinced that he was just a misunderstood lion. So I helped his lionesses break him out. I even tricked Beshte into helping me. I'm sorry Dad! I'm so sorry I betrayed you and Grandfather!" By now Kion was sobbing and Simba quickly pulled his boy close and nuzzled him.
"Shh there now," Simba gently soothed. "Its alright son."
"No its not," Kion sobbed, burying his face in Simba's mane. "Its not alright Dad. How can you even say that it is?"
"So you were tricked," Simba said, rubbing soothing circles on Kion's back.
"I'm a traitor," came Kion's muffled response. "And I deserve a traitor's punishment." With that Kion pulled away from Simba and layed on his back at Simba's feet and tilted his head back so that his throat was exposed.
"Kion what in the world are you doing?" Simba asked, shocked at his youngest son's actions.
"Accepting my fate," Kion said softly as he closed his eyes. "I'm a traitor so I deserve to die a traitor's death. And I know that you as the King have to deliver that punishment." Simba blinked in surprise and looked over at Nala, who had the same shocked look on her face.
"Kion there's no way I'd ever hurt you," Simba said as he gently rolled Kion over and pulled him close.
"But Dad," Kion began as he tried to pull away from Simba. "I'm a traitor and..."
"You're not a traitor son," Simba said firmly. "Not by my standards. As I said before you were tricked by Scar. I know first hand what a good lair he is. When I was your age he tricked me too. He had me convinced that I was responsible for my father's death remember? So what happened wasn't your fault Kion. And in the end you realized the error of your ways and tried to fix things. As King I would always give the offended a chance to redeem themselves before I carried out any death sentence. So there will be no punishment of any kind and certainly not death."
"I think you're punishing yourself quite enough Kion," Nala chimed in as she nuzzled her so.
"I agree," Simba said, giving Kion's head a lick. "And I know if your grandfather was here right now he'd agree." Then as if on cue a gust of wind ruffled everyone's fur. Kion smiled as he knew that was a sign from Mufasa that he had been forgiven. Kion opened his mouth to speak but before he could the group heard the hushed whispers of creatures talking outside.
"I'll go see what's going on," Kiara offered. Before anyone had a chance to protest the Princess dashed out of the cave. When Kiara saw who was out there she gasped in surprise and shouted for Simba to come at once.
A/N I'm leaving you all with yet another cliffie. Don't you all just love that? lol. But I do hope you all enjoyed this chapter. Review please and thank you.
