SK Future: Soul Kingdom: The True Final Battle

The Soul Princes are on the Starship Phonix, preparing to jump to Soul Kingdom once again. With Bentley in the middle of a slideshow for "Operation: Final Destiny". "All right guys, this is the big one, the operation you 7 have been preparing for your whole life without realizing it. No pressure. Tails, Clank and I have been working on a new seal for the Black Chaos Emerald we saw and used as a prison for the Sins on our first trip to Soul Kingdom. This time, we're not making the same mistakes twice. If I've done my math right, and I always do my math right, this seal is unbreakable. I'd bet my lab on it." "Wow. Just so everyone knows, I don't think I've ever seen him this confident in his calculations. So, who's going to keep the Sins busy when we get there?" "Glad you asked. As for who takes on who, I think it would be best if each Soul Prince takes on the specific Sin they were possessed by after accidentally leaving the Nobodies behind. They will be joined by the Guardians for support. Ira faces Mario along with Fox, Sonic takes down Avaritia alongside Falco,Superbia faces Ratchet along with Jak. Acedia, who I'm assuming will be brainwashed again, will be weakened by Rayman and Klonoa, Link and Aaron face Luxuria, alongside Ned, Sora and Roxas, you're taking on Invidia along with Daxter, and finally, Gula by Sly and Abe. Try and weaken them enough for me to suck them into the Black Chaos Emerald, and in theory we'll never see them again. Ready to end this?"

"…Let's do it."

After a quick montage of Bentley gathering the Guardians, a massive fleet of Gummi Ships are on one side of the threshold. "Remember, we do have extra help if we need it." "…the Skylanders. You know as well as I do that I hope we don't have to call on them." "Agreed." "Can I give the order?" Bentley smiles. "Gummi ships, move in on the castle!" From the Galaxy of Hearts, Chip and Dale are like, "Go! Go! Go!"

And we head into Soul Kingdom for the last time. Final save point, final shop, you know the drill. If there's anything you want to get done, you would do it now. Upon entry to the castle, Bentley says, "It appears each Sin has its own room in this castle."

We head into a boss rush, with the room overall looking similar to the boss room from the Kingdom Hearts 3 ReMind DLC. Each portal needs a specific Soul Prince, and when they head in for their fight, they end up… at a Dive to the Heart." Sly comments, "This is… where I first met Sora." Yep. We're going full circle. Other Soul Princes make similar comments about their Dive to the Hearts and meeting their spiritual links, and then Sly's heart goes dark. "Sora! You OK?" "Can't hear me. Guess I'll have to do this on my own." As he looks in front of him, he sees the Sin, silent and ominous, just waiting for him to step forward."It's time to face my destiny."

And Sly heads into his final boss fight. This chapter is getting long, so I'm just going to say that the other Soul Princes have similar scenes in their Dives. Sly only has to weaken the Sin a little bit, and then we swap to another Dive to play as another Soul Prince. The idea is that they're simultaneously weakening the Sins, about halfway through the Guardians come in to help, and right as they near the end of the health bar Bentley finally gets through to him. Sly just knows Bentley is at a point where he's ready to spring the trap. And so he does. Metroid style escape sequence, anyone? "There's a lot of excess Darkness leaking out. It can't do anything significant to a Soul Prince in theory… but just in case, grab those balls of light on your way out, and you should be fine." One final pulse pounding escape sequence, and the Soul Princes reunite at the castle. "It's finally over." Sora hops on the throne, regaining his kingly powers over Kingdom Hearts/the universe from Keys to the Kingdom by MiniJenn. (Shameless plug, go read it, that story's nuts.) Sora, concentrating on seeing if Sly's right about it being over, notices something. "Guys. Not only did we do it and end the war with the Sins, the Galaxies appear to be linking together again…" "Incredible news. Should make travel easier. What do we do now?" "What we've always done. It's a big universe out there, and a Soul Prince's job is never done…"

Roll credits.

Just like in Ratchet and Clank, you can choose to enter Challenge Mode or time travel back to before the final battle to collect any missing collectibles. Sly also unlocks "Horseshoe Mode", which makes his sections play like the first Sly game by getting rid of the normal health bar, now requiring Lucky Horseshoes for health. You can find them out in the world, or you automatically get one every 100 coins.

Enemies are tougher and you get a coin multiplier as well.

I still have some things to say, so follow me to the Afterword for some final thoughts…
