SK Afterword
105 months ago, give or take a few days, (I'm writing this in January)I published the first chapter of The Soul Kingdom Trilogy. To be honest, I didn't think I'd get this far. Back in 2013, Sly 4's infamous cliffhanger made me, let's just say, not happy. After seeing the ending, the first place I went was the Sly Cooper Fanfiction Wiki. I discovered Age of Thieves and its sequel, The Dimension Generation, as well as this mysterious thing called "Soul Kingdom." Intrigued, I took the provided link to the Soul Kingdom Wiki, and read the article about Sly's part of the project, "Soul Kingdom White", and you can imagine my surprise when I read the mention in the article about Sly meeting Sora. I thought, "wow. I didn't see that coming." I also thought, "more people need to see this." So, I fired up my account on this site and posted what was already done. A few hours later, my inbox on gets a message from one of the people in the writing team, SoulKingdomCreator, AKA Soul. She basically asks, "Would you like to help me and my friend Mino finish the project?" I said yes, although it took longer than I wanted to respond. And although we have since had a falling out that has caused me to finish the project on my own, it is finally done. I've discontinued it a few times, but I just couldn't let this project go unfinished. I wanted a happy ending, while making it open ended enough that I could return to this universe in the future if I ever decide to. It's been a wild ride… out of all the fanfics I've been writing over the years, I've always loved SK the most. At one point it was looking like I could get it done before 2025, obviously that didn't happen. The end is in sight as I write this near the end of January, with the first arc of the Future Series nearly finished at the moment. I don't think you realize how weird it is to say those words, given how long I have been working on SK…
Post-Soul Kingdom era Huntington here. It's now the first days of February, and somehow the story ends at an even 75 chapters. I'll take that. I'm hoping this story will stay fresh for a while. I actually haven't done a front to back read in a while. I should probably get on that. I made the ending open enough that I could come back to this universe at some point in the future, but right now I need a break badly. My goal has been to get this done before the Switch 2 Direct on April 2nd. And I am so happy I did it… before I go, one more thing. I stuck a phrase hinting at a future Soul Kingdom story in this afterword. See if you can find it to get an idea of where the Soul Princes are going next… Until next time.
