Izuku awoke, stretching his arms high above his head; as he did so, the memories of the past few days flooded over him, of Yui and Reiko telling him they were in love with him. He dreamed of having a girlfriend, but he seriously doubted if that would ever come to pass due to his size and appearance. But at least he would always have his sisters; that was what they said.
It was Friday at the very least, so the weekend was coming up; now, it was all about trying to figure this out. His father was proud of him for being a ladies' man, which was no help, but his mother sat him down with his head in her lap and told him it was essential to take his time and to let his heart guide him. She understood Reiko's importance to him, but he needed to get to know Yui; it was the fair thing to do and what he had told her he would do.
Yui would talk to him at lunch, but she loved to text him. She could text even faster than Mina, which Izuku thought was impossible. Izuku secretly wondered if Mina had a secondary quirk that let her text as fast as she did. He climbed out of bed, grabbed his towel, and went to take a shower before his day began. Standing under the hot water, he just closed his eyes and tried to think of what he would do. Still, his mind would wander at that point, providing images of Reiko in a bathing suit, and then he would begin to wonder what Yui looked like in a bathing suit, and his teenage mind would run rampant. Izuku looked down at his erect member, who was now getting in the habit of trying to break free when a stiff breeze would blow. Hell, he wondered if there was something wrong with him. Josie's tail brushed his arm, and Mina's shirt was a bit thin; it didn't take much, and it was annoying because it always seemed like that was the time when the teacher would call him to the board to solve some problem.
The world was a cruel place, and just liked to have fun at his expense, at least that was what Izuku thought as he tried to concentrate on baseball or something boring so he could calm down. It was a long shower. Izuku ate a box of cereal and headed out for the day; as he stepped off the train, he had not gone far when he heard the telltale sounds of a hero fight. And it sounded rather large. Izuku made his way over; sure enough, it was what he thought. The first thing that caught his attention was the villain; he was huge, well over eight stories tall, and the battle had been forced into a park. Izuku could see damage to buildings on the other side. Then Izuku's heart jumped into his chest; he saw his sisters and the guys in the fight.
The villain had blue skin, hair like seaweed, golden wrist bands, and a gold belt and pants made of grey leather; in his hand was a massive stone club.
Loud Cloud was racing towards the villain's face with Midnight at his back, her gas trailing behind them as they were trying to subdue the villain, but even at that size, the villain was fast, and with a swipe of his club he would send them off course, and the wind generated would disperse the gas. Izuku saw Eraser Head's hair float up, but nothing was happening. Mic's sonic shouts would distract the giant and make him stumble, but the ground would shake due to his size. Nagant was taking her shots, but they seemed to be doing minor damage; it was getting desperate for her to take a lethal approach.
Izuku held his breath as Loud Cloud and Midnight made another run at the villain; again, when the club came at them, they had to change course. But this time, the villain followed it up with a palm swipe that connected; Izuku's eyes went wide as Cloud and his sister flew. His feet began to move before he could even think. He burst forward through the barricade, and in one step, he was airborne. He flew through the air and caught them both; Cloud was out, Midnight was battered and bleeding. He heard her whisper his name as her arm fell limply to the side. Pure anger erupted from deep within Izuku; everything seemed to go red.
Yui was on her way to school when the sounds of the hero battle drew her attention; she was watching the fight with the blue giant, and then she saw the love of her life come leaping out of nowhere and catch two heroes who had been swatted away like flies. She called his name, telling him to get back, but then she watched as Izuku set the two heroes down; his body twitched, and his muscles increased, tearing off his shirt and nearly shredding his school uniform. Yui's heart began to pound, and then she heard the roar! It silenced the spectators, the battle everything and the giant turned towards the sound of the challenge.
"Izuku, NO!" Nagant shouted. Izuku ran forward a few steps and launched himself towards the giant. The crowd was shocked, and the giant's club came through the air. Yui screamed, but Izuku just crashed through the stone club, shattering it; it barely slowed Izuku down, who crashed into the villain's chest, sending him stumbling back.
The giant steadied himself and brought his massive hand down to smash Izuku. The crowd gasped, thinking that the green beast had been crushed, but then they saw Giant's hand being thrown up and away. Izuku exploded out of the crater and hit the Giant flush on the side of the kneecap with a massive right hook. A sickening crack, followed by the crowd reacting to the Giant's knee going sideways, dropped the giant to one knee. Izuku landed, his powerful legs tensing. This time, he jumped under the giant's chin again and landed a double-fisted uppercut. The Giant fell to his back, and Izuku landed on the villain's chest.
A thundering backhand from the giant sent Izuku flying; Mic ran and screamed for all he could right in the giant's ear, shattering the villain's eardrum. Mic backpedaled as the Giant screamed in pain and tried to swat at him, only for Izuku to come and knock the attack away. Nagant aimed the giant on his side; she fired her shot, hitting the villain in the corner of her eye. The giant yelled, rolling to his hands and knees, trying to get up; when Izuku came falling out of the sky, a double leg stomped to the back of the villain's head, driving his head into the ground. The villain was staggered; Izuku didn't stop. He leaped again, and on the second stomp, the villain stopped moving.
Kaina didn't see her little brother. She saw the Hulk standing atop the fallen villain; she watched as the Hulk threw his head back and roared. "Hulk," Kaina called out. "Hulk, you need to calm down. Can you let Izuku come out?"
The Hulk roared at her; Kaina let her quirk go as she raised her hands. "Come on, Hulk; you beat him; now calm down."
"Come on, little listener, we need you to relax," Mic said, trying to keep the Hulk in one place.
The Hulk was looking around at the gathered crowd; Kaina saw his legs begin to tense, "Fuck," she muttered. "Nemi!" Kaina shouted. The Hulk paused, "Nemi will be upset if she doesn't see her Izuku when she wakes up! She is hurt, Hulk. She needs her Izuku to get better."
The Hulk looked to the distance, then towards where Medical was treating Midnight and Cloud. He shook his head; Kaina held her breath as the Hulk's proportions shifted and returned to the merged state. The red haze faded, and Izuku wobbled in place; he was standing on top of the villain his family had been fighting, and he only had on a pair of shredded pants. He looked down and saw Kaina and Mic staring at him. "Hi, sis," Izuku said, waving his hand sheepishly.
Izuku sat on the ground with a massive blanket wrapped around him. Kaina was talking with the authorities; it had turned into them wanting to see Izuku's hero license. Kaina explained that he wasn't a hero but her adopted brother. Then threats of vigilantism charges started to get thrown around, but Kaina lied and said that Midnight had authorized Izuku to use his quirk when he caught her. Midnight was also an adopted sister of Izuku. Thankfully, Present Mic backed Kaina's story, as did Eraserhead, who was talking with Izuku and trying to find out what had happened. Once Aizawa had heard that Izuku had lost control, a whole different situation was alarming in Aizawa's head. They would have to contact Nezu about this new development.
Yui still couldn't get to Izuku, but she had gone looking and found where he had dropped his bag when he raced in to save those heroes; she had a hard time taking her eyes off him and keeping her thoughts from anything other than torrid fantasies. When she heard and felt that roar, it knocked her to her knees, not because she was scared. Once things had been cleared and the large flatbed and cranes had been brought in to transport the villain away, she could make her way towards her love.
Izuku saw Yui approaching, holding his bag; she waved at him, trying to cover himself, though not very well with the blanket, as he walked over to her. Yui breath hitched, seeing his bare chest and muscled legs coming towards her, but she was able to keep herself under control. "I found your bag," Yui said.
"Thank you, Yui," Izuku said, scratching his cheek. "You are super late for school, though."
"I know, but I saw the fight, then I saw you jump in, and I just couldn't take my eyes off you," Yui said, looking up at him with stars in her eyes. Kaina was watching the interaction; from talking to Izuku, she knew this was the girl who had come out of nowhere to declare her love for him.
"You saw that?" Izuku said, sounding embarrassed. "I am…"
"It was so beautiful," Yui said, stepping forward. "Watching you go into battle like that was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen. It reminded me of when I saw your news footage all those years ago. I was transfixed, and seeing you able to do battle like that in person was breathtaking. It made me fall even deeper in love with you." Yui's breathing had increased.
"That didn't scare you?" Izuku said, a bit dumbfounded by her declaration.
"Not at all, that passion and strength is amazing, Izuku," Yui said.
"But I lost control," Izuku managed to reply.
"But you didn't hurt anyone; you beat the villain and saved those heroes," Yui said, staring up at him. Lust slowly replaced the stars, but Yui rained herself in. "I don't care if the whole world is scared of you and your strength; I will always be by your side, Izuku."
"Thank you, Yui," Izuku said, his heart pounding in his chest.
"Are you going to school now?" she said hopefully, dreaming of walking to school with him, maybe being carried in his arms. Of resting her head on his bare chest, perhaps they could go somewhere else, someplace alone. Yui shook her head to clear her thoughts.
"Um, no, I don't have any clothes, and I have to deal with this stuff," Izuku said quietly.
"Oh," Yui said, a bit disappointed. "Are you in trouble?"
"He is in some trouble," Kaina said, stepping forward. "Thank you for returning his bag, but you should move along to school, young lady. I will contact the school and explain that you were caught up in the battle and had to provide a statement. Now run along."
Yui glared at Kaina for a brief second, "Thank you, ma'am." Yui bowed and handed Izuku his bag.
"Yui, will you tell Reiko, Mina, and Josey what happened and that I am not injured?" Izuku said.
"As you wish," Yui said. "If you are not busy this weekend, maybe we can go to the movies?"
"That sounds nice," Izuku said. Yui brightened considerably as she skipped away, promising to text him later to make arrangements.
School
Reiko and the girls had been trying to message Izuku all morning when he didn't show up for morning class; Yui's absence was noted as well. Then, during their first break, they saw the news alert of the Hero Battle in the park and the reappearance of the Hulk, who hadn't been seen in years since his fight with All-Might in Tokyo.
Reiko was then frantically trying to call him, Nemi, and Kaina, but no one answered their phones. Mina and Josei were surprised to hear that Izuku had fought All-Might, so after they calmed Reiko down, they had to get the story from Reiko about what was happening and why Reiko was freaking out, and who the Hulk was.
Reiko calmed herself enough to tell them more about how she and Izuku had first met. It wasn't the first time she had told them, but there were parts of the story she had left vague. The girls' eyes were wide, hearing how the Hulk was Izuku and Izuku was the Hulk, that uncontrolled part that had manifested with Izuku's quirk. The Izuku she knew was not the green giant. They knew he was just a regular boy with a quirk he couldn't control.
Mina looked at Josie as the details were provided; they had heard this story in some parts from both of their friends but not everything. Izuku is lost on a camping trip, not missing for a month, or the Hulk part.
"Izuku could tell you in better detail, but from what I understand, the Izuku we know is who he would have grown into, but it was jumpstarted by an accident. For Izuku to have survived the accident, it triggered his quirk, and the Hulk resulted from that manifestation," Reiko said. "And that is the Izuku we have now, so it is scary that something triggered him to lose control again."
"I think I get it," Josie said. "I was born this way, but Izuku was born normal, looking like you, but when his quirk manifested, he was going to mutate into the Izuku that we know now."
"I wonder what kind of quirk is that?" Mina said as they saw Yui walking up.
"Izuku told me to tell you that he is uninsured and that everything is under control," Yui said. "He is in a little bit of trouble but nothing too serious, according to Lady Nagant." Yui then started to walk past them.
"Wait, Yui," Reiko said quickly. "You were there?"
"Yes, it was so beautiful," Yui said wistfully before walking into class as the bell rang, signaling their break's end.
"That girl is weird," Mina said as they entered class.
Reiko's phone buzzed, and she looked for and saw a text from Izuku.
Izuku: I am okay; I have to go to the U.A. I lost control, and the Hulk came out; we will see if we can figure out why.
Reiko: I am glad to hear that you are uninjured. Are your sisters and family members okay?
Izuku: Nemi and Cloud got hurt but will be fine, the doctors said.
Reiko: Do you know what happened?
Izuku: They were fighting the villain and got hurt. Before I knew it, I jumped up to save them, but they were hurt, and then I saw red.
Reiko: Do you need me to come to the U.A. with you?
Izuku: You have class.
Reiko: You are more important, my darling.
Izuku: …
Izuku: I would feel better if you were there. Kaina was able to wrangle the Hulk this time, but you are the only one who has been able to do so without Nemi.
Reiko: Say no more. I am on my way.
"I have to go," Reiko said to Mina and Josei, promising to call them later and fill them in. Reiko walked to the teacher and told them she had to leave due to a family emergency; she collected her bag and made her way to the exit.
U.A.
Security greeted Reiko at the gate and issued a badge; with ease, she made her way to the medical wing and her Izuku.
She saw him sitting on one of the medical beds garbed in a U.A. athletic uniform. She bowed to Recovery Girl, who smiled and told her to proceed. Reiko walked over and softly took his hand. "I am here," she said softly.
"Thank you for coming, Reiko," Izuku replied. "I am sorry for causing you trouble."
"You are no trouble at all," Reiko said. "Besides, if you didn't get into trouble, we would not have met, and I would not have fallen in love with you."
"Reiko…" Izuku protested.
"I understand, Izuku," Reiko said, rubbing the back of his hand. "I should have said so sooner; my hubris and folly have led us to this situation. But that doesn't change how I feel about you. No matter the trouble or difficulties between us, I will find my way to you repeatedly."
"Thank you, Reiko," Izuku smiling at her; both of them blushed and fell silent as they sat her holding his hand for a little bit.
"Do you want to talk about it?" Reiko said, breaking the silence.
"It was like before; everything just went red. I caught them, and I could see they were hurt. The last thing I remember is being so angry," Izuku said. "The scary part is that it is like the first time I have been trying to remember, but it is hazy. I remember that I was not in control; I was just along for the ride."
"It must be terrifying to not be in control of your actions," Reiko said. "I can only sympathize with you as I have not experienced that for myself."
"I want to be a hero, but what is going to happen if I get mad during a fight and Hulk takes over," Izuku whispered, his eyes on the floor. He felt the pull of Reiko's quirk as she turned his head to look at her.
"The Hulk wants to protect those you care for," Reiko said, touching his cheek. "Yes, he reacts to the situation, but he still is you. That desire to protect and be a hero is still there. You will get angry again; it will happen, but learning how to control that anger will be paramount. I know you can learn to do this, and if you lose control, I will pull you back like always. You and the Hulk are stuck with me, Izuku Midoriya." Reiko pulled him down and kissed his cheek; Izuku blushed and sputtered a bit, earning a laugh from Recovery Girl, which made both of them blush.
Nezu
Nezu was staring at the video monitors as he had Takumi of the JDF and Masa of the HSPC. Both were very concerned with this sudden reappearance of the Hulk and were fighting with Nezu on his point. The HSPC was questioning if Nemuri had permitted him to use his quirk, and JDF was concerned about whether this was a prelude to a possible rampage if Nagant had not been there to handle the situation.
Nezu watched as subtle jabs were being flung between Takumi and Masa. The two groups had been going after each other since Nezu alerted Thunderbolt to HSPC's more nefarious actions. Nothing had been done in the open, with differing opinions between HSPC heroes and JDF forces when their jurisdiction seemed to cross over. A disturbing trend Nezu noticed was the increased capabilities of the JDF in their armaments and response capabilities.
The JDF had responded to a villain making landfall that, for lack of a better description, seemed to be some Kaiju. They had held their ground till All-Might and Endeavor, along with other top heroes, to finish the villain, and by that, they had driven it back to the sea where Godzilla managed to bring the villain down on some remote island.
All the armaments were gamma-powered. Nezu had consulted Hisashi on the subject, and there was only one conclusion: that his old partner, Samuel Sterns, was alive and working for Thunderbolt. It was a troubling thought, but there was nothing Nezu could do about it; if Sterns had survived the attack on the base, he was captured by the JDJ and subject to their discipline as he was a government contractor. The JDF still made overtures now and then to Hisashi, who politely and firmly declined every time.
"As troubling as this may seem to you both, Mr. Midoriya has violated no laws and was able to help bring a dangerous threat under control without the escalation of calling in more heroes or the JDf," Nezu said. "The troubling thing is this increase of larger threats that we are seeing than ever before. This villain was not on record; his quirk had nothing to do with his size, yet he just appeared out of nowhere."
"Very odd," Masa said.
"We should look into that," Takumi said. "I trust you will keep us updated then, Nezu?"
"If I feel there is something worthy of updating you on, then yes, good day," Nezu said, ending the call.
"You reckon they are up to something?" Snipe said, leaning back in his chair. Snipe has the appearance of a stereotypical Western cowboy. His face is concealed by an old-school tan gas mask, which resembles a horse's muzzle and features triangular holes for his eyes. Silver ear-defenders are wired to the sides of the mask, while his dark, bluish dreadlocks hang shoulder-length and are visible from the back and sides.
On his head, he wears a brown cowboy hat adorned with a thick metallic plate at the front, with a large "S" stamped in the center. His footwear consists of gray boots with knee-high shafts and vamps, accented with silver trims that dip slightly at the front, and each boot has a heel-band with a spur attached at the back.
Snipe sports a large red cloak buttoned at the top with frayed ends. Underneath, he wears a plain black tank top, complemented by white armor strapped over the right side of his torso and a brown belt with a gun holster attached at his hip. His pants are baggy, and either black or dark brown, with light brown or yellow chaps layered over them in classic cowboy fashion. On his arms, he wears black, skin-tight armguards extending up to his biceps and tan gloves on his hands.
"Something is amiss in the state of Denmark," Nezu responded to his recently promoted chief of security.
"And the young un?" Snipe said.
"I don't believe that Mr. Midoriya was the target; he just happened to be there to stop the rampage," Nezu responded. "Him losing control, though, is a bit troubling, but it more than likely stems from his quirk manifesting in the way it did; he will need counseling to learn to handle such things as all children burdened in such a fashion."
Counseling
Izuku was happy to see Ms. Yukina was still employed at the school, but she wasn't alone with her tall man, 6'5 with a dog quirk, who she introduced as Hound Dog. He was also a counselor at the school and would be taking over Ms. Yukina, who was retiring at the end of the year. Ms. Yukina made sure Izuku was comfortable with him sitting in on their session. Izuku agreed, and they began to talk about the day. Of course, they focused on his feelings at the time of the change; there was a bit of a moment of panic by the counselors when a rumbling growl came from Izuku sitting with his eyes closed, exploring how seeing Nemi hurt like that made him feel.
Reiko did not react. Instead, she took his hand, and they saw him visibly relaxed and take a deep breath. It was easy to see after that incident that, like his very first transformation, fear and anger had been so overwhelming that his mind had shut down, and the Hulk part of his mind had taken over. Not only do they believe he had multiple personalities, but his primitive mind had more influence than most people. This was where Hound Dog stepped in and offered exercises that Izuku could do to help control those impulses.
Hound Dog explained that when he would get worked up or angry, he would speak incoherently and violently, using a mix of words and a sound akin to a dog's growling. He even felt the impulse to lash out, and how, in his youth, that had been a problem he had to work on and overcome. It wasn't something they could solve in one session, but it was a platform they could build on going forward. After the session, Inko arrived with new clothes, and Izuku was cleared to go home.
When they exited, Hound Dog turned to Ms. Yukina. "I know you saw that effect the girl had on him."
"I did," Yukina responded. "She has always had that effect on him, more so than Midnight or Nagant; only his mother comes close, but even then, she can affect him more so than her. It stems from after his first transformation; when he reverted, that girl gave him the feeling of comfort and peace when his world was upside down. Since that point, she has become his mental safety point, and the girl is fearless when it comes to him losing control."
"I am concerned about what would happen if something tragic were to happen to her," Hound Dog said, looking over the file.
"Whoa, be the one who inflicted the tragedy," Yukina said. "I fear what that amount of rage and anguish may release in the boy. I don't think he is even aware of how important she is to him; he is fond of her and cares for her, but he is aware of how important she is to his mental stability."
"Telling him could cause him to latch onto that fear of losing her and lead to a cascade of other problems," Hound Dog finished; Yukina nodded. "What are the plans for when he enters the U.A? I do not see a future where he somehow fails the exam, not with the group he has had around him for so long."
"I believe that Midnight and Nagant are interested in becoming instructors. Midnight has nearly completed her Psychology Degree, and Nagant has her instructor's license from her time at the HSPC. Cloud, Present Mic, and Eraser Head also pursue their instructors' licenses. Their encounter with Mr. Midoriya profoundly affected all three of them."
Rieko and Izuku
Rieko called her parents to let them know she was going to Izuku's house and would stay the night; they had been updated on what had happened courtesy of Inko. Her mother blessed her and told her not to be home too late the following day.
Inko pulled through a drive-thru to get food for the kids; she quieted Izuku's concerns about Cloud and Nemi. Both had been healed and would be released soon. So Nemi would be home later. She scolded Izuku about getting involved in a villain battle but was happy he could keep Nemi from further injury. Once home, Inko left the two alone as she saw them preparing dinner for the rest of the house.
"I don't like the thought of you not being near me," Izuku said, breaking the silence. "But I am afraid."
"What are you afraid of?" Reiko said, giving him a gentle tug. Izuku shifted and laid his head in her lap, looking up into her blue eyes.
"Everything," Izuku said softly. "What does this mean? When Yui said those words to me, my heart fluttered. I had been thinking about what it would be like to have someone…to like and be liked someone in that fashion. I had been thinking about you and even Josei."
"Josei?" Reiko said, a bit surprised. "You like Josei?"
"No, but she is like me; she understands things that people like us have to go through," Izuku said, his eyes closed. "And she is my size," he said with a bit of stutter.
"You are concerned about your size?" Reiko asked.
"Yes. I mean, I am huge; when the Hulk and I merged, it was big, and I have even gotten bigger since then; who's to say that won't get bigger still," Izuku said, his eyes still closed, his voice filling with emotion.
"What if I tell you I don't care about your size?" Rieko said, stroking his hair; Izuku's eyes slowly opened. "When I look at you, Izuku, yes, I see how large you are, but what I see is the person you are inside. The sweet, gentle, protective person you are. The person who wants to be a hero to protect others, stand with his family and make the world a better place, not just for those like you but everyone. That nature made me fall in love with you. Yes, I find you physically attractive, but when I look into your eyes, I get lost in them and fall in love again."
"While I have not suffered the discrimination in the same manner you have, I have been with you every step of the way," Reiko continued. "I have felt my blood boil the same as you, felt it break when ignorant parents would pull their children away. If they knew how sweet and gentle you were, they would love you as I do. All of those idiots who stare and say harsh words, if they knew you, they would be tripping over themselves to just be near you."
"Reiko," Izuku whispered.
"I will repeat it like a fool. I waited too long, and now there is a rival," Reiko tilted her head as he looked at him. "I will not let her take you from me, Izuku. You are too precious for me to ever surrender you to another. I believe that you fight for what you love and want. I am blessed that those two things are you."
Reiko closed her eyes and leaned down; Izuku was positive she could feel his heart pounding in his chest. He didn't move when he saw her lips pucker slightly; he closed his eyes on the couch of his home to young future heroes experiencing their first kisses. It was soft, tender, warm, and loving, answering whether they had genuine feelings. A question of what it would all lead to. But that question was for tomorrow; when she pulled back, she smiled as Izuku whispered, "Wow."
