It had been three years since the incident with C.A.T. Co and two years since Aliya had found herself a permanent home with Leon and Helena. Aliya had been allowed to stay with the two agents permanently since it had been discovered that other facilities would always be after her so here, she was, staying with them until she was able to take care of herself. In addition to Aliya living with them full time, Helena and Leon had gotten married six months earlier. The wedding had been a small ceremony since the two agents had no living relatives, the guest list mostly consisting of their coworkers at the D.S.O and BSAA including: Sherry, Jake, Hunnigan, Madison, Chris and Jill along with their young daughter Elizabeth, and their newest addition, Piers, Rebecca, and even Claire had attended.
Sherry and Jake had also gotten married in the last six months, and it had been a busy time for everyone. Albeit there hadn't been much wedding planning on Sherry and Jake's part since the two had opted to elope and only wanted Claire, Leon, and Helena to attend since they weren't fans of having a lot of attention on them and wanted to avoid the stress of planning a big event.
Aliya walked into the house with her two friends Trevor and Maya after their Soccer practice, Maya's mother having dropped them off after practice.
"Mom? Dad?" She called, ignoring Maya's pestering about asking the two agents if she could attend a bonfire with the team the next day to celebrate the end of the school year.
"In the kitchen!" Leon called to the now sixteen-year-old, who followed the sound of his voice to find him cleaning up from dinner, "hey there's leftovers in the fridge if you guys want any."
"Oh no thank you, Mr. Kennedy. My mom got us all food on the way here." Maya says, brushing a strand of blonde hair out of her brown eyes. Leon nodded, happy that Aliya had made more friends in the last two years and joined a sport. This also made it easier for Aliya to get a ride home when he and Helena had to work late.
"Hey where's mom?" She asks, noticing that Helena was nowhere to be found.
"Oh, she went out for drinks with your aunt Claire and aunt Sherry. She won't be home until later."
"Oh, okay," Aliya says, looking around nervously as Maya and Trevor, both nudged her, "hey so our soccer team is going to the beach for a bonfire tomorrow to celebrate the last day of school and I was wondering if I can go?"
Leon stopped what he was doing and stared at her, raising an eyebrow at her. He was surprised that Aliya was even asking for permission. Now that C.A.T. Co had been dealt with, she usually told them she was doing something, and they would allow it if it was within reason.
"Who's going to be there? Any boys?"
"Just Trevor and the guys from the team. You met all of them already."
"Is there going to be alcohol?"
"Dad, we're fifteen," Aliya says with an eye roll, sighing when Leon gave her a look, "there's no alcohol."
"Is an adult going to be there?"
"Yes sir. Our coach is going to be there." Maya lied, knowing that the answer to this question would have had Leon saying no. The truthful answer to the alcohol question would have also had Leon saying no. Maya had always been one of those friends that parents always liked because she had straight A's and was always deemed a good influence which is another reason why Leon and Helena had loosened their reigns on Aliya in the last two years.
"Alright, it's fine with me just ask your mother when she gets home. What time would you be home?"
"Well, I know my curfew is ten, but can I extend to midnight?" Aliya asks, knowing that she was pushing her luck with this question, but she could always hope that Leon would say yes.
Leon looked at her, "Ten-thirty."
"Eleven-Thirty."
"Ten-forty-five."
"Eleven-fifteen."
"Eleven."
"Deal."
"And if you're going to be late, you need to call or text one of us."
"Of course, daddy," Aliya says, happy that she got her way. Granted it was rare that the two agents said no to her about going out with friends since she had spent the first twelve years of her life as an experiment in a lab. Since she was experimented on with two viruses, the two agents wanted her to be able to live a normal life. It was also because they loosened the reins on her that she was usually honest and came to them with anything. Sure, over the last two years they had made close calls where a new enemy had tried to get Aliya where they needed to always have a watchful eye on her, but the threat was always quickly dealt with.
"Alright, come on Trevor, my mom's bringing you home too, remember?" Maya asks, tugging on Trevor's dark blue soccer uniform, "Me and my mom will pick you up for the bonfire, Aliya."
"Awesome. See you guys tomorrow."
Aliya watched as her friends left and went upstairs, saying hello to her dog, Sylvie, who wagged her stub of a tail from where she lay in bed. Sylvie was a corgi and had been a gift from Leon for her thirteenth birthday since it had been her first birthday away from the lab. Aliya put her backpack down and went over to her desk, pulling out a square looking auto injector that had sticky residue on the back of it. Since she had the T and G virus in her system, she had to rely on a special serum to keep them from killing her. Rebecca Chambers worked tirelessly in the BSAA's lab and used a Dex-com that was usually for diabetes and put Aliya's serum into it. Aliya took the old device off the back of her arm and firmly installed the new one.
Once that was all squared away, she laid across her bed and started doing her homework. She had gotten so lost in doing her homework that she had not noticed how late it had been and didn't notice that Helena was now standing in the doorway.
"Oh, hey Helena, what time is it?" she asked, looking at her phone to see that it was midnight.
"It's late but I got home and saw that you were awake. Leon also mentioned that you had a question for me?"
"Oh yeah tomorrow night our soccer team is going to a beach for a bonfire to celebrate that the school year is over, and Leon says that it's fine, but he told me to also ask you. Yes, there will be boys there but it's just Trevor and the guys from the team. No, there's no alcohol, and yes an adult will be there."
"Alright well if Leon says that it's alright and you have answered all the questions, I have then I suppose it's fine. What time will you be home?"
"Leon told me to be home by eleven."
Helena nodded, "Alright, well goodnight."
"Night."
Helena closed the door behind her and went down the hall to hers and Leon's room where Leon was in a deep sleep at this point. Helena couldn't help but smile and gave him a kiss on the head and got into her pajamas before climbing in on her side of the bed.
Helena put her head on his shoulder as she drifted off into a deep sleep.
