Episode 69: Gulpin it Down
On a bright and sunny day, Mew and her friends are enjoying lunch in a harbor-side city park
Seeing the map, Brock says, "According to this map, we still got a good distance away from Petalburg City."
"Really?" Tomo asks.
"Yes. We just need to walk through Rusturf Tunnel, and we need to take a left from Meteor Falls," Brock says.
"Really? So that means we're close to my home town," Zinnia says.
"That's cool. Still, I can't wait to battle against Normal again," Mew says.
Pikachu and Eevee agree.
Then Max says, "But don't any of you forget how strong my dad is."
"Kinda hard to forget with you reminding us all the time," Mew says.
And May says with excitement, "I can't decide what I want to eat first when we get there."
Then Max says, "Our mom is the best cook in the whole world."
"I guess I won't care what she makes, since it's all gonna be good," May says.
Max also adds, "I think I'll ask her to make her famous Sloppy Joes."
"Oh yeah, me too…" but when May reaches for a sandwich, a blob with a mouth comes by and swallows the sandwich whole. Followed by everyone else's sandwiches.
"What's that?" Brock asks.
"It's a Gulpin," Zinnia says.
The Gulpin spits out Pikachu's food bowl.
Gulpin is a round, green, amorphous Pokémon. It has a black diamond marking on its back and a yellow feather-like adornment on its head. Its face consists of puckered lips and slanted eyes that are usually closed. It has two stubby appendages that are the same shape as its lips.
"Taking someone's food is rude, you know!" Jen says with a pout.
"Got to check this out," Mew says and brings out her Pokedex.
Dextette says, "Gulpin, the Stomach Pokémon. A Poison Type. Gulpin is able to swallow items of its own size whole, as its stomach comprises most of its body. Its unique stomach acid allows it to digest almost anything."
"I guess Gulpin is a good name for it," Tomo says.
"No kidding, that thing's got quite an appetite," Brock ays.
"Reminds me of Mew's Snorlax," Molly says.
"I can't believe that Gulpin ate most of our lunch in no time flat," Max adds.
And May says, "And still looks so cute, too."
Suddenly, an air raid siren is heard, causing the Gulpin to retreat.
Then they hear Officer Jenny's voice, "Attention, this is an emergency police order! Residents must evacuate immediately! Repeat, all residents evacuate immediately!"
"Evacuate? Where? And why?" Mew wonders.
Mew and her friends decide to investigate a small nearby town that is called Toku, but this emergency has turned the once busy Toku into a deserted ghost town. They walk down the streets and see the place is deserted.
"People sure follow orders around here," May says.
"Yeah, I don't see another person anywhere," Max says.
Suddenly, they hear a scream.
"Where'd that come from?" Zinnia asks.
"Let's find out," Mew says.
Inside a nearby bakery, a woman was being cornered by something.
She cries out, "Stay away!"
The group then rushes in.
"What is it, ma'am? What;s going on?" Mew asks.
The baker points her finger, "There! Those things!"
The group looks and finds a group of Gulpin.
"It's a gang of Gupin, and they're eating everything on the shelves!" Brock says.
"Pikachu, we got to get them out of here, now!" Mew says.
Pikachu leaps into action, but gets pinned by two Gulpin before more dogpile him.
"No, Pikachu!" Mew cries out and tries to dig away the Gulpin, "Hang on, Pikachu, I've got you," and pulls him out
"Oh, no! Look at that!" May cries out.
Everyone sees Gulpin pouring down from the vent and flooding the building.
"It's an invasion!" Zinnia cries out.
"There's way too many of them!" Max cries out.
And May screams, "I can't breathe!"
Molly cries out, "Help!"
Soon, a whistle is heard.
And Brock becomes lovestruck, "Hey! You hear that whistle?! It's…" but the Gulpin soon pins him down as Brock cries out, "Jenny."
Officer Jenny soon runs up with a Tangela in tow
Öfficer Jenny cries out "Tangela, Vine Whip, now!
Tangela uses its vines to pull our heroes and the bakery owner out of the building just as the Gulpin leaves.
Molly then turns to Officer Jenny, "Thank you, Officer Jenny."
"You're welcome, but you all have to clear out of here, it's too dangerous to be on the streets," Officer Jenny says.
"I certainly will," The baker says.
Then Officer Jenny says, "And that means non-residents as well."
"But Officer Jenny, we're in the middle of a long journey," May says.
Änd we needed a long rest," Max says.
"Oh. Well, in that case, come with me to the Pokémon Center," Officer Jenny says.
Soon, the gang soon arrived at the Pokémon Center.
"All residents in the threatened area have been evacuated. We're now initiating measures to drive the Gulpin out of Toku Town," Nurse Joy says.
"Excellent work, Nurse Joy," Officer Jenny says, "Continue monitoring the situation."
"Will do," Nurse Joy says.
Brock gets all lovey dovey, "Just watching those two beauties working side by side, how can I possibly make a choice?"
"Somehow, I don't think it's gonna come to that," Max says.
Mew then says, "I've never seen a Pokémon Center like this."
"That's because this Pokémon Center also doubles as a Central Gulpin Defense Center," Nurse Joy says.
"Central Gulpin?" Jen responds.
"Defense Center?" Molly questions.
"I wonder what that means," May says.
"I'll tell ya," A voice speaks up. Soon, an elderly man arrives, "The Gulpin population is rising again."
The group turns to see the elderly man with gray hair and a beard, he wears glasses, a purple shirt with a white lab coat, a black belt, and grayish pants. And big gray eyebrows.
"Again?" Mew questions.
"Everyone, this is Professor Jacuzzi. He's a specialist in Gulpin research," Officer Jenny says.
Prof. Jacuzzi says, "And I've been studying those pesky little rascals coming up for fifty years.
Officer Jenny is busy on the control panel and explains, "It seems that every year around this time, a huge number of Gulpin wreak havoc in our town. Their intent is to consume everything they can and our losses are staggering every time."
As Officer Jenny talks, she brings up images from the last attack.
"This year, our plan is to stop them, once and for all," Officer Jenny says.
"Well, in this case, it makes sense for you to seek the help of Professor Jacuzzi," Brock says.
Professor Jacuzzi walks toward a map of the town.
Prof. Jacuzzi says, "After fifty years of research, I know the habits of those Gulpin like the back of my hand. I also know where they're headed," and points on the map, "Right in the center of town.
Zinnia then says, "Hey, that's where all the food is stored up, right?"
"So if the Gulpin eat all the food, then Toku Town won't have any left!" May asks.
Prof. Jacuzzi then says, "Now, don't you worry, everyone. I've been working on something that'll stop those Gulpin right in their tracks."
Just then, Nurse Joy sees a blip on her radar, "It looks like they're on the move."
"As I predicted, they're making their way to the center of town," Prof. Jacuzzi says.
"Well, there's no choice but to begin our Gulpin Immobilization plan immediately!" Officer Jenny says.
"You got it, Officer," Prof. Jacuzzi says, "We'll put a stop to those Gulpin once and for all!"
Then Mew asks, "Professor, is there any way that we can help you out?"
A bit later, as the air raid sirens sound, some of our heroes are at a bridge over a river
"Alright, everybody, it's now or never," Officer Jenny says. She then asks, "Is everyone ready to go?"
"Yes, ma'am!" Everyone says.
Soon, the Gulpin appears over the horizon.
"Here they come," Officer Jenny says.
Meanwhile, Professor Jacuzzi was in some kind of machine, and says, "I'm now executing plan A. Switch, on!" and pushes a switch forward.
From the truck behind the group, a rocket prepares to fire.
Prof. Jacuzzi says, "Distance, 350 yards. Adjusting trajectory by .25%, and off we go!" and presses a button.
The rocket soon fires and starts to come down before dropping its payload onto the bridge.
"Whoa, what's in there?" May asks.
Prof. Jacuzzi steps out of the truck and says, "You're looking at what's taken me many years to develop. My Gulpin Pokéblock."
"You made it specifically for Gulpin?" Max asks.
"That's right, young man," Prof. Jacuzzi says, "It's made of all 108 ingredients proved to attract Guplin. It has taken me much time and effort to combine them in such a way that makes it especially appealing to Gulpin."
The Gulpin leap towards it
Prof. Jacuzzi then says, "Watch," And presses a button on the remote.
The Pokéblock soon takes off via a helicopter rotor that came out of the top, surprising everyone.
"Wow," May replies.
Zinnia then says, "I get it. Lead them away from the town so we don't risk hurting them."
The Gulpin follow the Pokéblock back to the woods.
"It's working! The Gulpin are going back across the bridge!" Brock says.
Prof. Jacuzzi laughs and says, "And it's another victory for the science community!"
Suddenly, a mechanical arm comes down and grabs the Pokéblock.
"Wait, professor! What's going on?" Officer Jenny calls out.
Everyone looks and sees Team Rocket laughing at their deed.
"Who in the name of science are you?!" Prof. Jacuzzi asks, shocked.
Jessie:
Prepare for trouble, your experiment's gone horribly awry.
James:
Make it double and kiss your Pokéblock goodbye.
Jessie:
To protect the world from devastation.
James:
To unite all peoples within our nation.
Jessie:
To denounce the evils of truth and love.
James:
To extend our reach to the stars above.
Jessie:
Team Rocket blasts off at the speed of light.
James:
Surrender now, or prepare to fight, fight, fight.
Meowth:
Meowth! Dat's right!
Wobbuffet:
Wooooobbuffet! (That's a cut!)
"It's Team Rocket!" Mew and her friends exclaim
Prof. Jacuzzi asks, "What's a Team Rocket?"
"They're a group of bad guys from the Kanto Region, who also a bunch of thieves and always try to steal stuff, including Pokemon," Mew answers.
Then James says, "You twerps, always twisting the truth! We just saw something flying over the bridge and decided to take it. That's all."
"Oh please. We need that Pokblock to feed the Gulpin," May says.
"In that case, how can we be so rude," Jessie says in remark, "Well, this Pokéblock's ours now, so just get some more of your own!"
"Remember, possession is 9/10ths of da law," Meowth says.
"Wooooobbuffet!" (THAAAAT'S justice!) Wobbuffet adds.
Mew then calls out, "You do realize the Gulpin are going to get really mad at you!"
The Gulpin all suddenly fire Sludge at Team Rocket's balloon.
"You're messing up our balloon!" Team Rocket cries out.
Prof. Jacuzzi then says, "That looks like a group Sludge attack!"
The balloon soon lands in an explosion.
Jessie cries out in anger, "I will not tolerate Sludge slinging!"
"Yeah, ya mucked up our poifectly poifect Meowth balloon, you punks!" Meowth says.
"So now it's time to get down and dirty!" James adds.
And Wobbuffet says, "Wooooobbuffet!" (LEEEET's rumble!)
The Gulpin all start glowing purple.
"Uh-oh," Zinnia says.
Prof. Jacuzzi says, "Oh, boy, looks like they're all using Stockpile."
"Stockpile?" Molly questions.
"It's a move that can allow Pokemon to charge up a Pokempm's energy. And for Gulpin, whenever they do it, Team Rocket will be given a Spit Up," Mew says.
"You are correct," Prof. Jacuzzi says.
The Gulpin all fire beams of energy at Team Rocket.
"And there it is." Prof. Jacuzzi says.
The combined attacks send Team Rocket flying.
"We're blasting off again!" Team Rocket cries out.
As for the Pokéblock, it goes falling toward the bridge.
Brock reaches out, "I got it! I got it!" and catches the Pokeblock.
"Great attack. Stockpile to gather energy, than Spit-up to release it in a powerful burst," Prof. Jacuzzi says.
And May says, "Yeah, but we got more important things to worry about."
The group looks to see the Gulpin are rushing over.
"They're coming back!" Brock says.
Officer Jenn throws her Pokeball and calls out, "Tangela, Meganium, Parasect, come on out!"
And all three come out.
Officer Jenny calls out, "We have to stop the Gulpin! Tangela, use Vine Whip! Meganium, Razor Leaf! Parasect, use Stun Spore!"
All of the attacks are thrown or launched and most of them hit their targets.
"Officer Jenny really puts together awesome attacks,"
"Yeah, but since Gulpin are all Poison Types, they aren't having much effect," Max says.
"Then we'll use a Ground Type!" Mew says.
Mew then calls out, "Go Diglett!"
And Diglett comes out of the Pokeball.
"Now Diglett, use Mud-Slap!" Mew calls out.
Diglett performs the attack.
The Gulpin performs Sludge Bomb.
"Duck!" Mew calls out.
Diglett ducks into the ground.
"Use Mud-Slap!" Mew calls out.
Diglett performs the attack and hits the Gulpin.
"Now I have a chance to activate my high-powered mini jet!" Prof. Jacuzzi says and presses a button on his remote.
The Pokéblock soon shoots out of Brock's hands and takes flight before zooming down the river. with the Gulpin following right behind it by going over the railing of the bridge to swim after it.
"They're chasing it down the river," Mew says.
"Good, they're gone," May says.
"We're not out of the woods yet, so I suggest we head back to the Defense Center right away," Officer Jenny says.
Everyone agrees.
Suddenly they hear a Gulp Gulp Gulp.
The group turns their heads and looks down to see three smaller Gulpin, scared to jump into the river.
"Oh no. Three of them got left behind," Max says.
Gulpin is sad that she's been left behind.
Mew then picks up the little Gulpin, "Don't worry, we'll get you back to your friends. For you, you can stay with us."
Max then picks up another, "Don't worry, we'll take care of you."
"Yeah. You can count on us," Tomo says.
The little Gulpin nods.
Later that evening and far away, Team Rocket was wandering away from where they landed.
Meowth groans, "My tummy's on empty."
"I haven't had a bite since breakfast and I'm running on fumes," James says.
"Just because we lie, cheat and steal for a living doesn't mean we aren't entitled to three square meals a day," James says.
Then Wobbuffet notices, "Wobbu!" (Looky!)
Team Rocket looks and sees the Gulpin had caught up with the Pokéblock rocket and eaten the Pokéblock itself.
"Look! There's that gaggle of Gulpin!" Jessie says.
"I wonder where they're running off to," James says.
Then Meowth says, "Well, if I know dose Gulpin, dey got a big appetite, sos I bet you they're going off in search of some grub."
"You know what that means?" Jessie says.
"It means if we go where they go, we're bound to find some food!" James says.
"Correct! Let's follow them! Got it?" Jessie says.
All of her teammates agree.
Later that night, back in Toku, the air raid sirens kept on going as our heroes stayed in the Defense Center. Suddenly, all the lights in town go out.
"We have a black out! Switching to emergency power!" Nurse Joy says.
"Any idea what could've caused it?" Officer Jenny asks.
As Officer Jenny speaks, the lights do, indeed, come back on.
"Yes, one of the underground power cables was cut," Nurse Joy says.
Mew turns to the little Gulpin, "You think your friends might have accidentally cut the cable?"
"Gulp. Gulpin Gulpin Gulp Gulp." (Maybe. We can get into anything when it comes to food.) Little Gulpin says.
"I can tell," Mew says.
Then Tomo notices, "Look! Something's moving underground, fast!"
"It's heading right for the central storehouse!" May says.
"I'm afraid those Gulpin are at it again," Prof. Jacuzzi says
Down in the sewers, the Gulpin travel on with Team Rocket right behind them.
"Just a little exercise before we eat," James says.
"And seeing how much dese tings like food, it'll be a lot!" Meowth says.
"Which means all we have to do now is keep following them, and pretty soon, we'll be gulpin!" Jessie says.
"Wooooobbuffet," (Yummy, yummy, foody-woody.) Wobbuffet says.
The Gulpin keeps on trucking.
In the defense station, Jenn says, "Now close the gate. And we'll force those Gulpin above ground.
"Yes, right away," Nurse Joy says.
With the press of a button, the sewer tunnels start closing off, so the Gulpin take a detour
"Looks like we've got them right where we want them," Nurse Joy says.
Officer Jenny then says, "Professor, try using your Pokéblock again."
But Prof. Jacuzzi says, "No, these Gulpin are highly intelligent Pokémon and I'm certain they won't fall for the same trick twice."
"That's true," Tomo says.
The three Gulpin nod in response.
"So what are you going to do with them?" Max asks.
"Yeah. Once they're above ground, won't they turn around and go back the way they came," Brock adds.
Prof. Jacuzzi then says, "Well, it does appear that our options are getting increasingly limited. Officer, do what you can to keep these Gulpin at bay."
Officer Jenny salutes, "You got it, Professor Jacuzzi."
Mew then says, "Pikachu, Eevee, what do you say we go help?"
Pikacnu and Eevee agree.
Mew then turns to the little Gulpin, "Wanna help too."
"Yeah. You can help us," Max says.
"And get back to your friends," Tomo says.
The Pokemon , the Gulpin burst from a manhole and hop onto the street and start making their way toward the center of Toku Town, but Mew, her friends, and Officer Jenny blocked the way.
"Those Gulpin aren't gonna get any further than this," Mew says.
Pikachu and Eevee hop off Mew's shoulders, ready to battle. Meloetta, Skewovet, and Amaura are ready to battle.
Officer Jenny then calls out, "Tangela, Meganium, Parasect, come on out!"
And all three pokemon come out.
Officer Jenny calls out, "Now Tangela, use Vine Whip! Meganium, Razor Leaf! Parasect, Stun Spore!"
All three Pokemon perform the attack and hit the Gulpin.
Mew calls out, "Pikachu, use Thunderbolt! Eevee, use Stone Edge!"
"Meloetta, use Psybeam! Skwovet, use Bullet Seed!" Tomo calls out.
"Amaura, use Psybeam!" Jen calls out.
All five Pokemon fire the attacks and hit the Gulpin. The attack launches and hits multiple Gulpin, but many more leap forward and continue down the street despite being knocked back by attack after attack while many others are left paralyzed.
"I can't believe it! All those attacks and they're still going!" Max says.
"I guess the food in the storehouse is just too big a draw," Brock says.
The three little Gulpin nod their heads.
And May says, "I wish they'd all just go away!"
The Gulpin soon get closer
"They're starting to get close!" Mew says.
Soon, Professor Jacuzzi drives in from an alleyway and blocks the path further.
"Professor Jacuzzi!" Officer Jenny says, shocked.
Prof. Jacuzzi says, "What happens when plan A fails? Plan B!" and pulls a switch above him.
Outside on the back of the truck, a cannon rises out of the top and two satellite rays are revealed on the side.
"That's plan B?" Tomo replies, confused.
"T-element settings are all now complete for attack!" Prof. Jacuzzi says, and pushes a lever.
The two satellite rays fire at the Gulpin and make some of them disappear.
"How'd they all disappear?" Max asks.
"Where did they disappear to?" Zinnia asks.
Back inside the truck…
Prof. Jacuzzi says, "H-element settings are complete. And, fire!" and presses a button.
And soon., the cannon on the top of the truck starts firing the Gulpin that are zapped into the sky.
May notices, "Wait a minute. If that's the Gulpin that got zapped, how'd they get inside?"
"What do you know? Sometimes, I even amaze myself. Now, I've just begun to fight," Prof. Jacuzzi says.
More Gulpin are zapped and fired out of the cannon.
"That is just brilliant," Officer Jenny says.
"As soon as they're teleported into the truck, he launches them," Brock says.
Prof. Jacuzzi says, "You are now witnessing my latest and greatest invention made exclusively for the purpose of Gulpin group control, called the Mach 3 Particle Cannon! First, I use a subatomic particle beam that initially absorbs the Gulpin. Then, as I add in the combined power of both Stockpile and Spit-up, the Gulpin are launched far away from town at a blistering speed of Mach 3! Incredible, if I do say so myself.
"I'll say. It is incredible," Tomo says.
However, the Three Gulpin climb on Mew, Max, and Tomo, shaking their heads.
"I guess you don't think so," Max says.
"I guess you're right. Who wants to get launched like that," Mew says.
However, there's one Gulpin left.
"Only one Gulpin is left, Professor," Officer Jenny says.
"But not for long," Prof. Jacuzzi says.
But as the professor pushes a lever, the power in the truck shuts off and the machine deactivates.
"Now what?" Zinnia questions.
"The system shut down!" Officer Jenny says.
"Not shut down, froze up," Prof. Jacuzzi says.
"Uh oh," Jen says.
"Talk about bad timing," Tomo says.
Prof. Jacuzzi says, "Seems that Subatomic particles are a bit unstable, and they aren't the easiest little things to play around with."
The Gulpin makes a break for it
"Gulpin, come back!" Mew calls out.
"It's trying to get away," Officer Jenny says.
Mew then throws her Pokeball and calls out, "Treecko! Use Bullet Seed!"
Treecko is let out and fires the attack, but Gulpin retaliates with Sludge. Inside the truck, Professor Jacuzzi tries to get the machine back up and running and manages to do so.
"There. Reinitializing particle cannon," Prof. Jacuzzi says.
"Treecko, use Pound Attack!" Mew calls out.
Treecko throws the attack.
But just then, in the truck, "Thar she blows!" and activates the subatomic particle beam.
However, the beam accidently zaps both Pokémon, shocking everyone.
"Treecko!" Mew cries out
They're both soon teleported away, where something strange happens, causing the machine to short-circuit.
"Oh, no!" Prof. Jacuzzi cries out.
"Professor, you got to do something!" Mew cries out.
"Is Treecko hurt?!" May cries out.
Prof. Jacuzzi tries to manage the control, "I'm doing all that I can!"
The machine starts going critical before it goes up
Officer Jenny then asks, "Is everyone okay?"
"Yeah, I think," Mew says.
Prof. Jacuzzi comes out from the debris, "But what just happened here?"
They all soon see a glow over yonder.
"Look! Those lights!" Zinnia says.
"Are they Treecko and Gulpin?!" Molly asks.
Soon, the lights morph into Treecko and Gulpin, only they've grown to about the side of the large buildings.
"They're… they're huge!" May cries out.
"They're gigantic!" Max adds.
Then Brock asks, "Professor, what happened?"
Prof. Jacuzzi explains, "I think Gulpin's Spit-Up attack reacted with the subatomic particles, thus enlarging them both to incredible proportions."
The now giant Gulpin takes its leave.
"Gulpin's on the move again!" Jen cries out.
The giant Gulpin destroys everything in its path.
Mew turns to Officer Jenny, "Officer, I need your megaphone."
Jenny then gives Mew the megaphone, "Here."
Mew takes the megaphone, "Thanks," and rushes over, and calls out, "Treecko! You've got to stop Gulpin!"
Treecko nods, leaps into the air, lands down in front of Gulpin and lets out a battle cry.
"Be careful Treecko, we don't want to break anything!" Mew calls out.
Treecko nods and holds Gulpin as hard as she can.
Meanwhile, Officer Jenny and Nurse Joy help with the evacuation.
Officer Jenny calls out, "Everyone, please, just try to remain calm!"
"This way to the shelter!" Nurse Joy says.
Treecko gives the giant Gulpin a toss and sends it crashing towards a skyscraper, only for it to retaliate with a Sludge attack.
"They're gonna destroy the whole town!" Max says.
"I hope Treecko's okay," May adds.
Prof. Jacuzzi then says, "And here I thought my particle cannon was the answer."
Treecko goes down, causing some debris to head toward Mew, who quickly evades
"Okay, we got to get rid of that Gulpin, somehow," Mew says, and looks around.
Then gets an idea, "Wait!" and looks to the right and sees the nearby lake, "Of course!" Then calls into the megaphone, "Treecko, get Gulpin to go toward the lake!"
Treecko agrees and throws the giant Gulpin in the direction of the lake before it starts using Stockpile.
Meanwhile, down on the ground, Team Rocket was fleeing with some stolen food.
"Sometimes, it's nice to eat on the run," Jessie says.
"Well, I always preferred my food to go," James adds.
"It must be comfort food cause I'm comfortable," Meowth says.
Just then, the giant Gulpin passes overhead. Team Rocket looks up, but the Gulpin fires a Spit-Up that sends them blasting off once again.
Team Rocket cries out, "Bon appetite!"
"Wooooobbuffet!" (Thaaat's sour!) Wobbuffet cries out.
The giant Gulpin lands in the lake, but as Treecko arrives, the giant Gulpin attacks from below as our heroes show up to watch.
"Treecko!" Mew calls out.
"Hang in there!" May calls out.
"You can do it!" Max says.
"Treecko looks tired," Brock says.
"I don't know how long he can keep this up," Zinnia adds.
"You're right," Officer Jenny says.
"It must be difficult for a Pokémon to battle at THAT size," Nurse Joy says.
Gulpin starts using Stockpile again
"It's using Stockpile again!" Molly cries out.
"Here comes another attack!" Jen cries out.
The Giant Gulpin fires the attack.
Mew calls out, "Treecko, dodge it!"
Treecko does so while the attack tears through part of the park. But while in midair, Treecko returns to normal, prompting Ash and Nurse Joy to check on it.
"Treecko, are you okay?" Mew asks, worried.
"Wow. All that intense battling must've brought Treecko back down to its regular size," Nurse Joy says.
Mew brings out her Pokeball, "Well, you did awesome fighting at THAT size. You definitely earned a break."
Treecko is recalled before the Gulpin starts heading back towards Toku.
"Gulpin's heading back in the direction of town!" Max says.
Prof. Jacuzzi says, worried, "I'm afraid I don't have any idea on how to stop a giant Gulpin."
"There's got to be something we could do," Molly says.
Then May has an idea, "I know! Why don't we catch it with a Pokéball? Think about it, no matter how big it is, it's still a Pokémon and that means we should be able to catch it with a Pokéball."
"Alright, then let's give it a shot!" Prof. Jacuzzi says and throws the Pokeball, "Alright, go, Pokéball!
The Pokéball is thrown and hits before sucking the Gulpin in, but it busts out instantly.
"It didn't work," Max says.
"That Gulpin is way too big," May says.
"I guess that's that," Prof. Jacuzzi says.
But Nurse Joy say, "Wait a minute, there's more than one type of Pokéball, remember?"
"I think you're right, Nurse Joy," Mew says and digs into her backpack.
Then hands a specific Pokeball to Prof. Jacuzzi, "Use this."
"Why that's a Heavy Ball," Prof. Jacuzzi says.
"A Heavy Ball?" Max questions.
"What's a Heavy Ball?" May asks.
"A Heavy Ball is a Pokeball that is made from a Black Apricorn, "Brock says, "This Pokeball is used to capture any Pokemon that weighs a lot."
"I think we can use this to capture Gulpin," Mew says, and presents it to the professor.
Professor Jacuzzi takes the Heavy Ball, and says, "All my years of research has led to this moment! Go, Heavy Ball!" and throws the Heavy Ball.
The Heavy Ball hits, sucks in the giant Gulpin, lands, wobbles and warbles and finally pings.
"Alright! Gotcha!" May, Max, Molly, Tomo, and Jen cheer.
Soon, as the sun rises, Professor Jacuzzi picks up his newly caught Gulpin.
"Yes, this Gulpin is mine," Prof. Jacuzzi says.
"Professor, won't it still be gigantic when you let it out of the ball?" Brock asks.
"Well, if Treecko shrunk down to its proper size, I'm sure the same will happen to Gulpin," Prof. Jacuzzi says, "Let's find out. Then throws the Heavy Ball, "Gulpin, come on out!"
Gulpin materializes, still giant sized, shocking everyone.
Officer Jenny cries out, "Professor, please, put it back in the ball!"
"Right! Gulpin, return, now!" Prof. Jacuzzi says and calls back Gulpin.
Bringing a sigh of relief to everyone.
"What are you going to do with Gulpin, professor?" Mew asks.
Prof. Jacuzzi says, "As you may know, I've studied Gulpin for fifty years, and with that knowledge, I should have no problem returning it back to its normal size."
Soon, the three Gulpin nudges Mew, Tomo, and Max.
"Well, I say those three seem to like you," May says.
"I guess they do," Mew says.
"Yeah. And we like them too," Tomo adds.
Then Max asks, "Hey, do you three want to come with us?"
The three Gulpin look at each other. Then all three nod.
"Well then, you know what that means," Mew says.
Mew, Tomo, and Max each throw a Pokeball, "Pokeball! Go!"
And with that, the three Gulpin get tapped and pulled into the Pokeball. After a few wobbles, moving, and a ping, all three Gulpin are caught.
Once again, Mew and her friends learn that in the magical world of Pokémon, anything is possible. And now, they will continue on to Petalburg City, looking forward to seeing family and, hopefully, another gym badge.
