Chapter 3: Secrets and Allies
The Gryffindor common room was alive with its usual hum of activity: the crackle of the fireplace, the shuffle of playing cards, and the whispers of students discussing everything from Quidditch to homework. Alex, Harry, and Ron, however, sat at a quiet corner table, their conversation a stark contrast to the casual atmosphere.
"So, let me get this straight," Harry began, leaning forward with his arms crossed on the table. "You're part of a team of warriors from another world—Power Rangers—who fight monsters and protect Earth. And now, these Tyrannodrones, or whatever you called them, are showing up here at Hogwarts for reasons you can't explain?"
"Pretty much," Alex said with a shrug. He hadn't meant to spill so much so soon, but the fight in the hallway had left him with little choice.
Ron shook his head, staring at Alex like he was trying to piece together a particularly tricky puzzle. "You've got to admit, it's a bit hard to believe. I mean, we've seen some strange things, but this? It's next level."
"Strange things are kind of my life," Alex replied, glancing at Ron. "Trust me, I get how weird this sounds. But if those Tyrannodrones are here, then Mesogog—"
"Mesogog?" Harry interrupted, his brow furrowing.
"The guy who created them," Alex explained. "He's bad news. Think of Voldemort but with scales and a dinosaur obsession."
Ron shuddered. "Brilliant. Just what we needed—another psycho who wants to take over the world."
Harry's expression grew more serious. "And you think he's targeting Hogwarts?"
"I'm not sure," Alex admitted. "But Tyrannodrones don't show up randomly. They're usually sent for a reason. If Mesogog has his sights set on this place, there's something here he wants."
Harry exchanged a look with Ron, his green eyes flickering with determination. "Then we'll figure out what it is and stop him."
Alex hesitated. "You're not Power Rangers. I appreciate the support, but this isn't your fight."
Ron snorted. "Mate, we've fought a giant snake, a pack of giant spiders, and the Dark Lord himself. Trust me, we can handle it."
"Besides," Harry added, "Hogwarts is our home. If someone's threatening it, that makes it our fight too."
Alex nodded, a small smile tugging at the corners of his mouth. He hadn't expected them to jump in so readily, but he couldn't deny that their confidence was reassuring. "All right. If we're doing this, we'll need to work together. But you'll have to trust me when I say some things are better left to me and my team."
"Fair enough," Harry said, though Alex could tell he wasn't entirely comfortable with the idea.
"So, what's the plan?" Ron asked.
Before Alex could answer, Hermione stormed into the common room, her face a mixture of frustration and concern. She marched straight up to their table, her hands on her hips.
"Alex," she said sharply, her gaze fixed on him. "You owe me an explanation."
Ron raised an eyebrow. "What's she on about now?"
"I saw him in the library earlier," Hermione said, glancing at Harry and Ron. "He fought off those creatures and then vanished without so much as a word. Care to explain that, Alex?"
"I was going to," Alex said, raising his hands defensively. "Things just... escalated."
"They escalated?" Hermione repeated, her tone incredulous. "Alex, you were fighting monsters in the middle of the library! That's not exactly something you can just brush off."
Alex sighed. He had been hoping to avoid another interrogation, but it seemed Hermione wasn't going to let this go. "Look, I didn't mean for you to see that. It's complicated."
"Try me," she said firmly.
Harry cleared his throat. "Hermione, he's on our side. He told us everything."
Hermione's eyes narrowed. "Everything?"
"Well, most of it," Ron chimed in. "He's a Power Ranger or something. Fights bad guys, saves the world, that sort of thing."
Hermione's expression softened slightly, but her curiosity remained. "And these monsters? What are they doing here?"
"That's what we're trying to figure out," Alex said. "I think Mesogog—he's the one behind the Tyrannodrones—might be after something at Hogwarts."
Hermione frowned, her mind clearly racing. "If that's true, we need to find out what he's looking for before he does."
"Exactly," Alex said. "But we'll need to be careful. Mesogog's forces are dangerous, and I don't want anyone getting hurt because of me."
Harry nodded. "We'll be careful. But if we're going to stop this guy, we need to work together."
Hermione looked at Alex, her expression softening further. "If you're really here to protect us, then I'll do whatever I can to help. But next time you fight monsters in the library, maybe give me a heads-up first?"
Alex chuckled. "I'll try to keep that in mind."
Ron groaned. "Great. Another adventure. Just what I needed."
"Come on, Ron," Harry said, clapping him on the back. "You know you love it."Ron muttered something under his breath but didn't argue. As the group began brainstorming their next move, Alex couldn't help but feel a sense of relief. He hadn't planned on dragging anyone else into his fight, but having allies like Harry, Ron, and Hermione made him feel a little less alone.
Whatever Mesogog was planning, they would face it together. And for the first time since arriving at Hogwarts, Alex felt like he truly belonged.
