Chapter 5:
Ben continues to fly through the skies and continues to get visions.
The villagers used Seijiro as a stopgap sacrifice dubbed the "Kusabe", though Ryozo escaped. When Itsuki tried to help Yae and Sae escape, Sae let herself be captured so they could perform the sacrifice and be 'together forever', but Yae ran.
"If Yae ran, then how did they make it work," asks Ben. He then flies down.
...
Ben starts getting other visions.
Itsuki killed himself in despair at Sae's capture, and the villagers sacrificed Sae alone. This caused the ritual's failure, consuming Minakami Village and causing Sae and Seijiro to return as vengeful spirits.
"So, that's it," says Ben.
"Indeed, it is," says Sae.
"Let my cousin go," says Ben.
"The only way to free us all is that you kill her," says Sae, "the ritual must be complete!"
"I hate to break it to you, but it requires twins, "says Ben, "me and Gwen are cousins!"
"The ritual requires twins, but that doesn't mean twin siblings," says Sae, "you and your cousin are the same age, and have the same birthday! There for..."
"We're the closest thing you can find," says Ben.
"You and your cousin are not that different from me and my sister," says Sae, "that's why you're perfect!"
"Not gonna happen," says Ben. Sae then disappears. "Gwen, I'm gonna save you!" Ben then runs.
