Restoration Battlefield
Sonic jumped up, speeding over to Shadow's falling form, panic on Sonic's face.
He sped over, and quickly jumped up. He managed to catch Shadow, and deftly brought him back down to the ground. Sonic gently set Shadow down, his once again unconscious form not moving an inch.
Sonic made a sigh of relief, before turning back to the Chaos King. Sonic smirked. What was the Chaos King.
The thing was in pieces, sparking and burning. Sonic knew the machine could take quite a lot of damage, but something told Sonic this time it wasn't getting back up.
Suddenly, Sonic's smirk was dashed when he remembered who was in that machine. His heart leapt into his throat, and he sped over to the burning wreckage. He started sifting through pieces, looking for where the glass cockpit could've been.
No, no no no no, please be okay Tangle… Sonic thought to himself, his face showing panic.
Right as he was about to clear away another piece of rubble, he felt something wrap around his chest. In confusion, he looked down, only to see a glowing tail wrapped around him. He had enough time to widen his eyes before being thrown away from the wreckage, smashing against the dirt.
He gasped in pain, slowly getting back up. When he was back on his feet, he looked to the wreckage to see Tangle slowly stand up. Sonic gulped. Tangle was still in a pseudo-super state.
Tangle shook off some debris that was sticking to her shiny fur, and looked around at the wreckage. For a moment, the only look on her face was disbelief. Then, she glanced over and saw Sonic, standing over the prone forms of both Blaze and Shadow.
She stared for a moment, before looking at her still shining fur. She smirked. She looked back up at Sonic with a smug smile. Sonic once again gulped.
Tangle suddenly ran over, her form becoming a shiny blur for a moment, before brutally smashing into Sonic's chest, sending him flying backwards.
Tangle laughed. "Wow! Man that felt good!" She shouted, before speeding over and grabbing Sonic with her tail. Sonic tried to escape the grab, but the tail was so fast that it was just a blur to Sonic. He was wrapped up, before being thrown into the dirt again.
"So, this is what it's like being super? I gotta say, while that mech made me feel powerful, it didn't let me get the real feeling of being super, you know?" She said cockily, before turning her tail into a fist.
Sonic jumped up, narrowly avoiding the mega punch from Tangle's tail from smashing him into the dirt. He started running in circles, trying to confuse Tangle. It only worked for about a moment before Tangle's tail sped in his way, making him run right into and knocking him onto his back.
It once again grabbed him, before throwing him high into the sky. Sonic could hear Tangle's crazed laughter all the way up.
Sonic had a moment to bring his thoughts together, which were blaring only one message. This is impossible! Super forms don't last this long! Let alone a weak super form like Tangle's! This doesn't make any sense!
What Sonic wasn't aware of is that the way the mech was made, it could keep Tangle in a super state indefinitely. After the collapse of the Chaos King, it wouldn't have been able to hold the super state together anymore. However, Instead of running the super state, it kept it in a form of stasis. Meaning that the super state was locked at the time it was on as it powered the mech, meaning that Tangle's super state had not run its course and could realistically continue the fight as super Tangle for as long left as the timer originally was.
Sonic curled into a ball, homing attack straight at Tangle like a falling missile. Tangle smirked once again, before quickly using her tail like a bat, smacking Sonic into the ground once again.
Sonic groaned, his body aching. This time, he really couldn't get back up. He, Blaze, and Shadow had thrown everything they had at Tangle and the Chaos King, and they failed.
Tangle casually strolled to Sonic, her smirk widening into a full blown smile. "As I was saying before Sonic, we win." She said cheerfully. Sonic didn't bother to give that a response.
"Man. You know, I always wondered why the villain gloated before just finishing the job. Now I know! This is great!" She said, laughing. "HA! Getting hit with that laser was the best thing to ever happen to me! Gotta say though, you really put up a fight! That whole new form of yours was awesome!"
Sonic slowly stood back up, every bone aching. Tangle just raised an eyebrow. "Not giving up yet, are we? Come on Sonic, we both know that not even you can stand up to a super state." She said. Sonic knew she was right, there was no way he could beat a super state, even one as weak as Tangle's.
If I was in top form maybe… He thought, frustrated. As it stood though, Sonic being in one of the worst states he could possibly be in meant he had no chance. Didn't mean he couldn't stall though.
Sonic brought up a smirk. "And you should know by now that I will never give up. And just like last time, I won't be the only one to stand up to-" He started, before getting brutally kicked in the stomach.
He fell backwards, gasping and coughing in pain.
"Blah blah blah. You were right, I do know better. I know you. Boy, wasn't I quite the super fan of yours? I never admitted it, hell, I even pretended I didn't recognize the blue blur when he stepped into my village to help me out. Of course, I don't think I ever hid it from you either, but that's all in the past now. Now though? I don't have anything holding me back from the fun I want! Everything that's been happening so far has been so exciting!" She said, her grin growing wider.
She scooped up Sonic with her tail, using it as a kind of rope. She hoisted him up and brought him to her face. "My life has been so boring. That is, until you stepped into my village one day. After that, things picked up so fast! I defeated a small army of badniks with a fire princess and The Sonic the hedgehog. Then, I get invited to take out a giant metal dragon! And after that? Well, just ask Jewel or Whisper." She said mockingly.
Sonic glared at Tangle.
"And now? I got to fight you." She said malevolent, her golden eyes staring straight into Sonic's. "What could have been more exciting than that?" She asked rhetorically, winking.
Out of nowhere, a blue laser struck her right in the chest, causing her to be thrown away from Sonic, her tail's grip loosening.
Due to the surprise attack and Tangle losing her focus, as well as how long Tangle had kept it up so far, the super state winked out in Tangle's surprise.
The Chaos Emeralds briefly went to scatter themselves, before all shooting towards a specific area in the Chaos King's wreckage, all convening into a small pile.
Tangle quickly hopped up, only to see that she was shot by Whisper. Apparently, While Tangle was monologuing, Whisper had run over until she was at close enough distance to nail Tangle. She wasn't the only one though, as both Knuckles and Tails were also running over as fast as they could.
Tangle looked back at Sonic, who was now free and standing up with a grin. Tangle then noticed that Blaze was starting to shift, most likely waking up.
Tangle grit her teeth. There were too many of them, and Tangle knew that going into a super state again would be a very bad idea. She quickly bolted to the Chaos Emeralds. Sonic tried to run her down, but he was too hurt and exhausted to go any faster than a quick jog.
While Tangle was running to the Chaos Emeralds, she went to click a little device on her wrist, signaling for a quick evacuation from one of the Egg-mobiles. What she got instead was a signal from her communicator that Alcurine was trying to contact her.
She sighed angrily, before activating the communication, all while running towards the pile of Chaos Emeralds.
"Tangle! Are you ok!?" Alcurine asked loudly, obviously worried. Tangle just nodded her head, conserving her breath for the running. Alcurine looked at something off the screen, before standing up.
"Whatever you're doing, just stall ok? I'm coming to pick you and the emeralds up!" Alcruine said, before abruptly cutting off the communication.
Easier said than done, A. Tangle thought to herself, quickly scooping up the Chaos Emeralds. She turned back only to narrowly dodge getting hit with another blue laser blast from Whisper.
Tangle plastered a grin on her face. "Yikes Whis, trying to kill me, are ya?" She said mockingly. Whisper clearly tensed, but didn't rise to the bait.
Tails decided to stay behind near Whisper and Sonic, checking on his big bro. Knuckles however, was more than happy to run in, clearly ready to punch Tangle's teeth in. Tangle just rolled her eyes, before pulling up the Green Chaos Emerald.
Vines erupted from the ground, grabbing unto Knuckles and pulling him to the ground. Knuckles struggled against the supernaturally strong vines, looking very angry at dealing with them again. Tangle very briefly glowed green, before dropping the emerald and cutting her connection prematurely.
Tangle fell to her knees, gasping. Sweat poured from her, and her face was twisted into a pained grimace. Whisper looked at her with worry, while the rest looked at her with confusion.
Tangle briefly looked confused, before slowly getting back up, a strained smirk on her face. She felt something warm on her cheek, and went to wipe it away only to see that it was blood from her mouth.
She shook away the blood from the back of her hand, grabbing the White Chaos Emerald. By this point, Knuckles had finally gotten out of the vines, and looked furious. He once again rushed to tangle.
Tangle connected with the White Chaos Emerald, briefly getting a white sheen. She spun around, launching a phantom slash at Knuckles, of which he easily avoided by going under. Suddenly the white sheen popped away, and Tangle grabbed her chest in obvious pain.
Due to this, Tangle was unable to avoid a solid hit by Knuckles, launching her back into the rubble. She slowly tried to rise up, but just fell to her knees, coughing painfully. Out of her mouth came more flecks of blood, and her nose started bleeding.
Now even Knuckles was looking at her with worry.
Tails's eyes widened in realization. He turned to the rest of the group. "Guys, it's Chaos Sickness!" He said suddenly. The rest of the group turned to him confused. He almost rolled his eyes.
"Look, Most regular people don't have a lot of internal chaos energy, nor can they handle too much chaos energy. Exceptions being Sonic and Shadow of course. But for an ordinary islander, using chaos powers too much results in internal damage. Tangle was just super, and from what I saw she was super for far longer than normal. Now she's trying to use Chaos Emerald powers? The strain of all that chaos energy is killing her from the inside!" He said, his face morphing into concern.
Whisper looked back to Tangle terrified. Her eyes were wide open with pure panic.
Knuckles hummed thoughtfully, still watching Tangle try to get her breath back. "That's true… I actually just told Sonic about this. I don't have as much chaos energy as Sonic, so if I didn't have the Master Emerald as a buffer for when I go Super Knuckles, I would be overloaded with too much energy. Is that what's happening to Tangle?" He said, concerned.
Tails just nodded glumly, before his eyes widened. Knuckles quickly turned back, only to see Tangle's tail smash into him. He went flying back, smashing into the ground.
Tangle slowly rose from her kneeling position, her face screwed up in pain. She still somehow managed a very shaky smirk. "Got you…" She said.
She coughed some more, before bringing up the Yellow Chaos Emerald. Whisper's somehow opened wider in fear. "No, Tangle don't-!"
Suddenly, the Chaos Emerald was ripped from Tangle's hand. She looked at her now empty hand in confusion, before looking to see where it went. She eventually looked up, only to see the Yellow Emerald and the rest of the Chaos Emeralds being sucked into a flying aircraft. Tangle grinned. The aircraft had an Eggman logo on it.
"Tangle, that's enough fighting. Now It's my turn."
Alcurine suddenly appeared out of the aircraft, in a much smaller Egg-Mobile, smiling. It was once again hooked with a turret, and the turret was once again glowing with an ominous purple-green light.
"Let's have some fun, shall we?"
