Dear Diary

My name is Satoru Gojo and just like you, the rest of my pages are blank.

..

Satoru's eyes crack open. He wakes up and he breathes. The heaviness of his nightmare pulls at his weight and shows by the dark shadows beneath his eyes. He washes his face and his eyes dim, today's today and yesterday's yesterday. He can keep going on like this until he's in his 20's or maybe even 30's but by then what would be left of him?

"Satoruuuuuu it's time for school!" his mom roars out and Satoru smiles, maybe till his 40's.

He goes down the stairs dressed and neat and ready for school. It doesn't matter though, when he comes he'll be a hot mess, his just doing this for his mom's sake. Speaking off, his mom blinks, she's a beautiful woman with white hair and red eyes which strike against his own blue eyes. Satoru blames his father's bed powers otherwise he would have looked like his beautiful mother. Then again, his looks are a reminder of what his reality is.

His mom smiles, "that's my boy, here's your lunch, chef Oyama made it especially for you" she winks and Satoru rolls his eyes, "of course he did, it's his job mom" he says and his mom rolls her eyes. She kisses his cheeks and smothers him whilst Satoru pretends to die for air as he unconsciously leans on his mom. She's real. She's safe. She's sound. He clutches on her waist and his mom blinks in confusion, "is everything okay Satoru?" she asks tenderly and Satoru flinches, he's getting rusty. He almost gave himself away.

He looks at her red eyes and he shakes his head. He just wanted to reaffirm her existence, but he won't tell her that. He won't tell anyone. This is his burden.

"Nothing mom. I just had a bad dream" he says. It's enough to explain his behaviour and pacify his mom for a little while. As for the content of his dreams, he'll leave that up to his mom's rich imagination. His mom rubs his head as if he was still a child and she knows it's fruitless but she asks anyway, "would you like to tell me about it?" Satoru smiles, "bye mom" he says and he guesses that's the perks of being a teenager. He can keep quiet and be unreasonable without consequence.

Satoru leaves his family's compound and his chauffeur opens the car to his door. He gets in and his phone and he puts headphones on. The instrumental music soothes his soul for a couple of minutes and Satoru closes his eyes. Today's joy. Tonight's sorrow. Riko's about to die.

"We're here Young Master Gojo"

Satoru gets out and someone waves at him enthusiastically. "Satoru!!" he must be still dreaming because it's Utahime and she's smiling at him.

Satoru pinches his arm, okay still not a dream. He walks to Utahime and she literally flies into his arms. Never one to waste an opportunity, Satoru holds her waist and brings her close until their lips are barely touching, "I knew you'd fall for me scarfac-" before he finishes, Utahime punches him in the face. He groans, okay. He is definitely not dreaming. "I'm trying to be nice you MORON!" Utahime roars scaring all the birds in the vicinity. Everyone ignores them already used to their antics and Satoru pouts.

"And here I thought you'd finally fall for me" he says with an exaggerated sigh. Utahime rolls her eyes at him but then he sees something different on her amused yet exasperated smile. It's nostalgia and it's sad, before he questions it, it's gone and it makes him feel like he imagined it.

Utahime huffs, "I would never fall for you.." she trails and Satoru perks up, "unless you were the last man on earth" he blanches. That's not possible. Satoru looks at Utahime then he perks, "wait! That means you would still!" Utahime rolls her eyes, but she doesn't answer..Satoru's eyes widen, "did you fall for me scarfac-"

"YOU IDIOT!"

Utahime screeches and she huffs and then leaves. Satoru looks at her back and sees her back overlap with a memory of an older version of her with eyes wide open in horror, blood smeared all over and body unmoving even from the number of times he shook it.

"Utahimeee..wake up..please.."

And Satoru grimaces, he should bother her more, otherwise the memory of her death will become a reality in his mind. He can't let that happen.

"Jeez what did you do to Utahime now?" Suguru asks lazily as he helps him from the ground. Satoru grins, "nothing. Did you write yesterday's homework?" Suguru's face contorts to confusion then he face palms, "..that's what I forgot!" Shoko who recently arrives gives him a look. "We had homework?" she asks lazily as she sucks her lollipop. "Will you let me copy?" Suguru asks and Satoru sticks his tongue, "neh" Suguru chases after him throughout their entire morning and Satoru laughs, full of joy and ease.

Class comes and goes and before he knows it, it's lunch. He opens his lunchbox and as expected everyone in group looks at him expectantly. "No" he says childishly looking at the gazes of everyone present as if he hasn't been sharing his food since chief Oyama was hired.

"Don't be stupid Satoru" Suguru says, his food already in his mouth. Satoru glares and then huffs, "money talks" they all give him money and Satoru laughs as Nanami looks at him painfully but gives him money anyway. Sure he doesn't need the money but hey, might as well suck his friends dry.

They eat his food and discussions resume naturally within the group. "Did you hear about the increased attacks on the bay area?" Suguru asks gravely and Satoru frowns, he didn't. He's been too lax. Suguru sighs, "apparently there's been suspicious supernatural activity because the killer whoever of whatever maybe leaves a trail of dead bodies and according to an eyewitness, the thing moves like air. It's invisible and yet it kills with such precision that it couldn't possibly be something man-made"

Satoru frowns, that sounds suspiciously like the work of a curse. Which should be impossible because this world doesn't have curses, he's checked quite thoroughly over the years. Unless..

Suguru continues unaware of Satoru's thoughts, "one eyewitness however saw a green mutation of sort of an animal and he's insistent that it was the cause of this" Satoru's heart stills. He looks across his friends who eat their food happily and he finally spots it. A curse is wrapped around Shoko's neck. How long has it been there? Satoru looks down and water surrounds the place and he starts to see them. All of them. Curses.

They're back, they're alive and that means his countdown is starting.
