On Berk
Stoick stood on the docks of Berk looking worried as the ship returned. He helped Gobber of the ship "What happened wheres Hiccup?" Gobber shook his head looking down. "We got into this storm in Baldurs Lake. Hiccup and Astrid were swept into the sea I'm sorry Stoick". Stoicks eyes widenes and he took a step back. "My son" he said as he put his hand on a crate.
Gobber put his hand on Stoicks shoulder "There was nothing we could do old friend. It was the biggest storm I've ever seen. Bigger then the one we got into when looking for Valka" Stoicks eyes widened at the size of the storm. Gobber nodded "Aye it wasn't pretty. Allistairr isn't doing well too he was nearly in time to catch them."
Stoick looked over to Allistairr who was hugging his wife and their younger daughter. Stoick walked over to them "Allistairr I'm sorry about Astrid " he said. Allistaiirr looked up "Thank you chief"was all he could say.
On the island
Astrid groaned as she opened her eyes. she was laying on some soft moss as her eyes adjusted to the dim light in the cave. she looked arround seeing a nearly burnt out fire with clothes hung arround it.
Astrid looked down realising it were her own clothes and she was just in her skirt and a green shirt albeit a ripped one just long enough to cover her breasts. Astrid grunted as she sat up her side aching. "Where am I "she said to herself.
Astrid tried to get up but the pain in her side was to much. she laid there for what must've been half an hour. Her legs were starting to get cold due to her pants being of. She heard a sound to her right. "Oh thank thor your awake "Hiccup said as he dropped his stack of wood of near the fire. Astrid looked at him wearilly "Whete are we and why am I just in my skirt she asked. "On some deserted island, I had to take your shirt of to treat your wound and the rest to drie them so you wouldn't ger hypothermia"Hiccup said scratching his neck. He walked over to the clothes laying on a stone near the fire "I think their dry now "he said as he handed Astrid her clothes and turned arround.Astrid eyed him as she took her clothes and quickly pulled them back on she winced as she stood up the wound in her side throbbing. " Alright Hiccup I'm dressed " She said. Hiccup turned arround and went back to stacking the firewood. "you should lay back down Astrid" he said looking in her direction. Astrid scowled "What I'm not some weakling like you this but a scratch". Hiccup sighed "Just lay back down . The faster your healed the faster we can find a way back to Berk".
Astrid gave him an angry eye but she laid back down knowing he was right. Astrid layed there looking at the flames dancing in the fire. She could hear Hiccup doing something on the other side of the fire but due to the dim lighting in the cave she coulen't see what he was doing. She could make out he was doing something with a knife ad a large stick of wood.
After a while she got irritated by the noise and not knowing what he was doing. "What are you doing " she asked clearly annoyed. Hiccup looked up for a second "Making a bow "he said as he continued his work. Astrid looked at him "Why?"she asked.
Hiccup looked back up "We need food don't we. I don't know about you but I'm not eating fish all day. I think there are some deer or boar on the island." Astrid couldn't help but laugh "And you think your going to be able to pull a bow heavy enoug to even kill a mouse." Hiccup clenched his fist arround the knife handle. Taking a deep breath he layed the stick on the ground.
"What exactly is your problem!" He shouted.
Astrid looked at him with a shocked expression. "What does the great Astrid Hofferon not have a resonse to the useless son of tje chief?" Hiccup said sarcastically. "No thank you Hiccup for saving my life "he continued the volume of his voice growing.
Astrid looked at him opening her mouth to say something but Hiccup cut in "I'm sick of it. All the ridicule all the Hiccup the useless Hiccup the weakling. I made weapons for a living for thors sake. Don't you ever use those brains in that pretty head of yours. Newslfash pounding metal into weapons ues mucle so yes I can pull back a bow"Hiccup finished breathing heavilly.
"I ..." she tried to say. "yoo what Astrid. you know I could deal with all the ridicule but you just had to start participating after your uncle froze to the flightmare "Hiccup said he looked downright scary as stood almodt over her still holding his knife. Astrid gulped memory's flashing back from before the flightmare back when het and Hiccup had been the best of friends. Her bottom lip trembled as she tried to hold back the tears that were forming.
Hiccup saw Astrids reaction and immidiatly regretted his outburst he "Oh gods I'm sorry Astrid "he said as he dropped the knife. Aqtrid shook her head "I was horrible. "she sniffed. Hiccup knelt down "Hey its not your fault. You never did the stuff the others did I'm just stressed by the situation "he said softly rubbing her shoulder. Astrid continued sobbing "I just. I was scared after uncle Finn that they'd start treating me like you since I looked up to him." Hiccup continued rubbikg her shoulder "I know Astrid I know. Just please stop crying. Its alright " he tried but Astrid shook her head "How can you say that its alright." She said.
Hiccup sighed "Astrid what you did hurt yes but you didn't hit me nor called m everything bad nder the sun. You just ignored me and continued training way to much." Astrid finally started to stop sobbing. Hiccup smiled "Now lay back down I need to change the bandage on your wound."
Astrid did as he said still slightly shaking. Hiccuo gently unwrapped the piece of his own shirt he'd wrapped arround Astrids midsection. Astrid winced when he softly pressed near the wound. "It seems to be healing well I sugest you stay in bed for a couple more days. "Hiccup said. Astrid looked down at the large healing gash in her side " How did I ever say its only fun when you get a scar out of it"she winced. Hiccup laughed as he washed the shirt that had been wrapped arround her waist "We'll have to wait for the shirt to dry I don't have anything else to use as a bandage unless I use my pants which I'm not the biggest fan of " Astrid couldn't help but laugh at the joke.
Time skip 2 weeks
Hiccup was stalking through the forest with the bow he made. they'd been stuck on the island for 2 weeks now surviving of mostly fish and small animals they had trapped in snares. Hiccup had been able to shoot a deer last week which had fed them for a while. He looked at the ground recognising the marks of a deer as he tracked it. He neared a clearing with a stream. The deer was drinking at the stream. Hiccup who already had an arrow on his bow pulled back the string aimikg carefully before loosing the arrow.
The deer loolked up at the sound of the bow releasing its arrow but it was alread to late. The arrow hit the deer just above its leg. Hiccup quickly approached the deer which was laying on the ground now moaning in pain "I'm sorry "Hiccup said as he swiftly slit the animals throat relieving it of its pain.
The walk back to their cave was about 20 minutes. When Hiccup arrived he saw Astrid near the caves entrance stretching. "Hows the wound holding up "he asked as he dropped the deer to the ground. "It still throbs but it's healing, you got another one great. "Astrid said as she walked to Hiccup. Hiccup nodded as he started cleaning the deer. skinning it and removing the organs. "Could you take the skin and meat to the fire I'll discard of the rest. "Hiccup said picking up the bag lf organs and bones.
Astrid nodded they'd made it a habit to trow the remains of shot animals they couldn't use away far from their cave so any predators on the island wouldn't smell their catch.
When Hiccup returned Astrid smiled at him. In the 2 weeks he'd cared for her she'd gotten closer to him. "So any Ideas how we could get back to Berk?"she asked. Hiccup shrugged "Nothing yet."he said dismisively.
Astrid scrutinized him "What's bothering you Hiccup?" Hiccup shrugged "Nothing".
Astrid rolled her eyes "Sure nothing. While you have that distant look in your eyes. You always get it when I mention returning to Berk. " Hiccup sighed his shoulder sagging a bit "Its nothing Astrid. " he tried again. Astrid walked over to him "Hiccup please. I can tell its something. Why always when we talk about returning to Berk." as Astrid said those words it dawned on her "You do want to get bak right?".
"I don't know Astrid. "Hiccup said. "But why Hiccup what about your dad or Gobber. I'm sure they miss you. I miss my mom dad and sister. "Astrid said. Hiccup shrugged " I get you want to go back Astrid but me. Sure Gobber might miss me the rest they'll just be happy I'm gone. Gone with the old in with the new they'd say "
Astrid wrapped her arm arround Hiccup "Please think about it Hiccup. " Hiccup nodded "I will "he said. 2 hours later after they'd eaten Hiccup lookes outside "I think its gonna storm tonight. Lets quickly get some logs and bricade the entrance of the cave" Astrid nodded.
They had succeqfully barricaded the cave when the storm started. Hiccup looked at the sky when a high pitched screech was heard and he saw a black thing fall down from the sky. He looked at Astrid they both thought the same.
