Life with Yumi has fallen into a routine. Each morning, Toriichi takes off his shirt—to avoid it getting damaged from his spines—and sits on a folding chair at the front of the store, waiting for something to happen.

While they wait, Yoichi keeps up Toriichi's public school education, teaching him math, science, and whatever else Yoichi remembers from that time. Yumi originally offered to teach, but Yoichi's too small to manage the store.

Older Toriichi rarely talked about his time with the government, but Yoichi knows a few details. His quirk was experimented on, and they didn't teach him. Occasionally, Yoichi would have to help him with basic math, much to Toriichi's dismay.

Yoichi is determined that this time around, his brother will know how to do long division. They sit there, Yoichi with no teaching experience, attempting to make something normal out of their strange situation.

A few customers come in, with Yumi saying, "Welcome!" each time with increasing desperation for the rare customer that ventures in.

The customers stare a bit at the two of them, looking more like they should be in daycare than sitting in the store, and then continue with their shopping.

They buy their items quickly and leave even faster, desperate to avoid the chaos ever-present in the city. Many of the people left are too low-income to leave for the countryside, Yoichi can tell from the quality of their clothing and shoes.

Yoichi feels a bit guilty, thinking of Yumi. He hasn't told her that there may be people after them. He hopes that the government will give up their search in exchange for picking a random kid with powers off the streets.

He prays that the child doesn't come out as jaded as Toriichi did. Looking at Toriichi now, his personality is like night and day compared to his older self. Whatever they did to Toriichi in that facility changed him, made him the man he became. Without it, Toriichi's a very normal five-year-old who's currently complaining that he still has to have school.

"But why do I need to learn this boring stuff? Kindergarten had naps and coloring books, not this," Toriichi says.

Yoichi smiles and says, "Well, because you're so advanced, I'm teaching you big kid stuff. You don't need naps and coloring books."

Toriichi says, "But I like coloring books!"

Yoichi sighs and grabs a coloring book and some crayons from Yumi and hands them to Toriichi.

Toriichi happily colors inside and outside the lines, creating a blue-skinned princess with green hair.

Toriichi is coloring while Yoichi watches, and Yumi is watching a customer shop when it happens. A man comes into the store, walks to the register, and pulls out a gun.

He says to Yumi, "Give me all of your money!"

Yoichi can spot the customer hiding with their cell phone out recording.

Yoichi turns to his brother, but Toriichi has already quietly walked behind the man and has his spines out to disarm him. Toriichi disarms the man. The man turns to look at the spines, sees a little boy at the end of them, and yells, "What the fuck?"

Toriichi says, with his spines circling around him threateningly, "You should leave."

The man says, "Or what? You're just a little kid."

The spines grab the man and hold him upside down, the blood quickly flowing to his head. Toriichi says, "Well, you're just an adult."

Toriichi holds him there for a bit, until the spines set the man down on the ground with his gun and Toriichi says, "Please leave."

The man grabs his gun and stumbles out of the konbini.

Everyone is silent for a minute, then Yumi quietly sighs in relief.

Yoichi says, "That was really good, brother."

Toriichi smiles shyly at him and says, "Really?"

Yoichi says, "Really, no one got hurt, thankfully. You might not always be able to resolve situations that way though."

Toriichi says, "What do you mean?"

Yoichi pauses then says, "You may have to really hurt someone someday."

Toriichi makes a face at that.

Then, the customer runs up to Toriichi and says, "That was so cool—the way you just told him off so calmly!"

Yumi says, never hesitating to advertise, "He's our new security guard, that way anyone can feel safe shopping at Yumi's Konbini!"

The customer pauses and says, "A little kid as a security guard is a bit strange, but I guess I can go with it. Shouldn't he be in school?"

Everyone just stares at the customer, who after an awkward pause says, "Well, anyways, I better get going. Thanks for protecting us!" The customer walks out the door.

Yumi sighs and says, "I guess we were bound to get questions about why you're not in school. Next time, let's just say you're homeschooled."

Toriichi says, "I am homeschooled."

Yumi hmms and says, "I guess you are, technically."

Yoichi's realization that his brother will have to commit more violent acts to turn away criminals is making him look down in thought. Yoichi says, "We may need to start sparring, getting you used to fighting."

Yoichi really feels like a pimp now, forcing his brother to fight when he may not want to.

Toriichi looks excited, "Yeah, I want to fight! I bet I'm gonna win, you're a little weak, brother."

Yoichi's eye twitches; he thinks, weren't you just sick yourself?

Yoichi tries to think back to Midoriya's training routines and wonders how he's going to adapt them for a five-year-old.

Unbeknownst to them, the customer posted the video he took to YouTube, and it's going viral.
