Good grief! In the author's note for my previous kiss scene, I said I already had this one planned out, so it shouldn't take me too long. Then it takes me about a month to get it out! Oy vey...

Still, I like how this one turned out. I hope you guys do too!

As always, please leave a review if you like this story, or have suggestions on how to improve my kiss scene writing! Thanx!

Steam rose invitingly from the small ceramic cup as eleven-year-old Agitha poured in a serving of hot black tea. She leaned over it and breathed in the fragrant steam for a moment, a pleased smile gracing her features. Then she ladled in half a spoonful of sugar and grabbed the small pitcher of cream, watching the tea turn cloudy as she poured a little bit in. Taking a seat on her "throne," she sipped slowly and appreciatively as she surveyed her home and the dozens of insects that roamed the place. Many of these congregated around the small dishes of sugar water she'd put out for their enjoyment. As she watched, she smiled.

Life was good for the Princess of Bugs. A simple life, and a mission she never got tired of, were all she felt she needed, princess or no. It fulfilled her in a way that she doubted any of the grown-ups' jobs ever could. She doubted that even Queen Zelda, in her castle just a few city blocks away where she governed all of Hyrule, could feel as content in her life as Agitha felt.

She never got lonely either, even with her seemingly solitary life. Ever since the Golden Bugs had taught her to communicate with the insects, she was never without company. Nor was she without resources, as there were numerous charitable people within Castle Town who admired her, or believed in her mission, and supported her as best they could. And that wasn't even counting those who assisted her in more practical ways - by teaching her how to grow the flowers that would most attract and nourish the bugs, by capturing and relocating insects they'd found in their homes to her, in one special case by going out and bringing the Golden Bugs to her recent ball.

Agitha sighed contentedly as she considered it all. She would never tire of this life.

A sudden knock at the door brought her out of her reverie. Not that she minded, of course. In her experience, any company was good company. "Come in," she called out, hoping whoever was outside the door would hear.

They did, and the door opened to admit…someone she'd never met before. It was a young Zora, around her age, with striking green-gold eyes and wearing a golden gorget studded with three sapphires. Clearly someone of importance, though the innocent wonder in his face told Agitha that it hadn't gone to his head. That was promising, she thought. She hadn't met very many self-important people in her life, but the few she had had left a bad taste in her mouth. This stranger seemed like he'd be more pleasant.

He immediately gave a small, polite bow. "Am I in the presence of the Princess of Bugs?" he inquired, his princely tone mixing delightfully with his high, soft, boyish voice.

Agitha couldn't help but smile back. "You are," she answered. "My name is Agitha. What's yours?"

It seemed the Zora was just as delighted by her as she was by him, for he smiled as he replied, "My name is Ralis, and I am the Prince of Zoras. I've traveled from Zora's Domain to meet you."

Agitha's widened a little at that. "You've heard of me, then," her words were half-question, half-statement, as clearly, he had.

Ralis nodded. "A friend told me of you," he explained, his eyes never wavering from hers. "He said there was no princess in all the lands he'd been to so gentle and compassionate as you."

That comment brought some extra warmth to Agitha's face. That was high praise, she knew, especially if it was coming from who she thought it was. To hear someone of such great import as a prince repeat it, and heed such praise enough to travel just to meet her…well, that truly was something special.

Of course, she had, likewise, heard of the Prince of Zoras. In fact, she suspected he may have a mutual friend with her. "I believe I've heard of you as well," she remarked as the blush began to leave her cheeks. "Our friend told me you were honest and sweet, and I'd be delighted if ever I met you. I see he was right about that." This last she said with a spreading grin.

Now Ralis blushed - though Agitha had never met any Zoras before, she could at least tell he was blushing. "I-i-i'm delighted to meet you too," he stammered, and Agitha added adorably shy to her opinion of the prince.

There was a few seconds' pause before, seeing that Ralis wasn't quite over his shyness, Agitha inquired, "So, now that we've met each other at last, how shall we get to know each other?" That question hadn't even been meant to tease, and yet the prince's blush still grew more intense. Clearly, he meant to say something that would take a good deal of courage.

Her question, it seemed, galvanized him to get it out. "M-may I have a d-dance?" he asked, holding his hand out to her and managing a nervous smile. Agitha held a hand to her mouth to cover a delighted laugh. It was a bold request, to be sure, but given Ralis' shy innocence, it was absolutely welcome.

She glanced briefly at a pair of large, glowing golden crickets that had paused in their drink from a bowl of sugar water, then back at her young admirer. "Absolutely," she answered, rising from her throne and coming to meet him. Gently she took his offered hand and guided it to her waist, then his other hand and held it. The crickets began chirping, and after a moment of psyching themselves up, the pair stepped off.

It was a most unconventional dance - a Zora and a Hylian, both barely in their preteens, swaying slowly in each other's grasp, accompanied only by the song of a pair of crickets. Yet neither of them minded. Even in the humble setting of a Castle Town House, this was still better in their eyes than any grand ball at Hyrule Castle. And the crickets' tune, far from a monotonous single noise, was surprisingly varied, the sound changing ever so slightly with each chirp, producing a complex, harmonious song far beyond what any normal insect could accomplish.

Had either of them been counting the time, they would have marked six full minutes before the crickets' tune slowed. The pair's dance, too, relaxed; where before they were dancing as they would at a formal ball, now they were simply swaying in each other's arms, more of a moving hug than anything else. And it was at this time that the silence that had descended over them was broken. "You're really sweet," Agitha told Ralis, before leaning in to whisper in his ear, "Will you be my prince?"

Ralis must have been quite taken with her at this point, for despite his blush returning full-force, he didn't hesitate to reply, "I'd love to."

Agitha grinned, and without another word, leaned in and gently planted her lips over his. Once again, there was no hesitation on Ralis' part in returning her kiss. Agitha had been intending for a short, soft peck, but feeling him kiss back made her instinctively deepen it, tilting her head a little and letting her lips part a bit and close over his again.

What was meant to be a sweet, simple kiss turned into fifteen seconds of pure bliss for the couple as they held each other tightly and drank deeply from each other's lips. In that moment, they took their first steps - small, perhaps, but important - in growing up.

When at last their mouths drew apart, Ralis hesitated a second before asking, "So, what happens now?"

And in truth, Agitha wasn't really sure. They were obviously not at the stage where they would dwell with each other permanently. Yet the distance between their respective homes meant moments like this would not be quite as frequent as either would've liked. But that didn't mean they couldn't still try to make this work.

"We can write to each other, at least," she suggested. "Maybe we could visit each other too. Every two weeks, maybe?"

Ralis nodded. "That sounds great," he responded with a smile. "I can't wait to show you around Zora's Domain!"

Agitha googled at that. "Sounds like fun!" she encouraged, before claiming her new boyfriend's lips over more time.
