Notes: this is for Draco's den Denopoly. For a challenge from Draco's Den. Narcissa/24 hours to live prompt
Narcissa has devastating news read to her after the war is now over, and the light side won. Her husband Lucius is by her side along with their son Draco. She knew she has to do the right thing while she has twenty-four hours to live and have Draco be together with Hermione and have them married uniting their families and showing good standard in that their not really bad people in the magical community.
She wanted to do the right thing while she still lived before tomorrow. She motioned for Draco to come closer to her so she can speak to him.
"Draco I think its best you and Hermione get together and be married to unite and show that our family is different from other purebloods that we still have good inside us. Please have Hermione agree to marry you before I pass on to see you marry each other."
"I will agree Mother if that is your last wish."
"It is."
She feels him give her a kiss on the cheek and a hug then left her and his father to go find Hermione and talk to her.
She smiles despite the pain inside her and the worsening it got, as she continued to try to fight the disease. Lucius watches her with pain and sorrow in his eyes as he leans down after their son left to give her a kiss and hold her to him.
She feels loved by her family and soon to be family member when she sees Hermione again. She knew her and her son Draco have been dating. Despite one of her friend's wishes and jealousy.
She knew that Weasley boy hated her son but the potter boy did not and made truths with him. On agreement of not hurting Hermione and letting bygones be bygones. She hopes someday to see grandchildren be in their family from Hermione and Draco. But knew she will not last past another day due to her disease.
She sleeps while laying in the bed, then wakes up due to noise, and notices Hermione is with Draco and their back to see her.
Hermione approaches her with a ring on her hand speaking to her,
"hi Mrs. Malfoy, I accepted Draco's proposal we are getting married tomorrow. Hope for you to see it before you pass. Since Draco told me about your disease, and we want to make things work out for you to be happy seeing me married to your son."
"Call me Mom or Narcissa darling. Its so great to see you and Draco together Hermione."
"thank you, um mom, its nice having another person to call mom and be my mother in law even for a short time."
She laughs softly but then starting coughing and stopped laughing for the moment. To grab a tissue to wipe her mouth then put it down to be thrown away. She feels Lucius hold her in his arms with concern.
"Are you ok Narcissa?"
"Yes, Lucius for now I am fine but will not be tomorrow."
"Ok, my dear."
He laid down next to her and she feels comfort by him, and watches as their son and his fiancé leave them alone. Hoping to see them married tomorrow, before she passes away the next day after the full twenty-four hours are up.
The next morning she is surprised by Hermione and Draco marrying in front of her with their friends and everyone around them in front of her and Lucius so she will not miss it. She knew that they did this because it means so much to her and she could not wait to see her son and daughter in law Hermione dance once she is at a place where she could sit down after an elf helps her dress to look her best for one last time.
Before time is up for her to pass on and be gone from the world. She watched them dance and then danced with her son and husband. while giving Hermione her new daughter in law a hug and kiss afterwards before the day ended.
She knew that things are going to be fine now and when the time comes soon for today this evening for her to pass on everything is going to be fine. She smiles with tears in her eyes as she hands her daughter in law back to her son and dances with her husband Lucius for one more time. Before she passes on this evening.
Narcissa knew everything is going to be good while she is gone and she will watch on from above looking down on her family. She looks at her husband with a smile and tears in her eyes knowing she is happy in her life and that everything is going to work out fine.
She and Lucius watches as Hermione and their son Draco cut the cake and shove it in each other's faces while eating it as well. Including the elves serve other pieces to the guests. Including her and Lucius.
She and Lucius shared a slice of cake and ate it together while watching the happenings in front of them before she knew it she has to retire to lay down. She feels tired and fatigued from staying on her feet too long and knew the pain is making it worse.
She has help from the elves helping her into her bedroom clothing to lay down in for the rest of the night. Lucius knocks on their door and comes in after she is dressed for bed and gets dressed himself.
He lays in the bed with her, holding her to him. He kisses the top of her head making sure to show his love to her and know that she is loved by him. He and her both hear knocks on their bedroom door he calls out,
"Come in."
Draco and Hermione walk in hands holding smiling at them both. their son and his wife Hermione huddle around his wife and be near her in her final minutes of life.
"We love you and will miss you." Draco said for him and Hermione
knowing she is loved, Narcissa closed her eyes and passed away with a smile on her face.
