Titan of Rubicon
"Hey, have you read anything yet?" An MT pilot said, looking out past the edges of the group it was in. There were around ten MTs, all with light travel gear or recon gear as they slowly made their way over to one of the fallen cities in Rubicon.
"Josh, if you don't shut your trap for the next thirty seconds, I'm going to smack you." The leading MT with a spotlight and radio antenna voiced over in comms.
"Hey, what did I do!?"
"You keep asking for AN HOUR STRAIGHT!!" The lead MT pilot soon gave a sigh, "look, I'll tell you if we find ANY-thing at all in this desolate ruin of a city on the scanners, but you need to quit with your belly aching and shut the fuck up. Capiche."
"...yes sir." The other MT pilot said, begrudgingly as silence fell over the comms.
It didn't take long for one of the Recon MTs to stop dead in its tracks, stopping the group as it used its hand-held scanner to search for something.
"I got something." The MT with the scanner soon started to do a wide sweep, narrowing it down as the signal the scanner picked up got stronger and stronger.
"What is it, Rads?" The lead MT walked over to the far-left side of the group, inspecting the Triggered Scanner.
"No sir, it's… coral?" The scanner soon started to haywire, getting louder and louder with its readings getting higher and higher until…
"…"
It flatlined, and the noise suddenly cut off.
"..."
The group was dead silent, not sure what to make of the sudden spike and then drop off of the now silent scanner.
"...Gregory… if the scanner taps out like that… what does it mean?" The Lead MT said with caution as he looked at The MT piloted by Gregory.
"It means that… it went over the standard levels of what it can detect." Gregory said with some hesitancy due to his shock and concern for what this could mean.
"So… we are inside a Coral field so powerful that it is undetectable to us?" Josh said aloud.
"...yes, that is correct." Gregory said with some trepidation.
Before they could even think about what to do next, the ground suddenly shifted a little. The buildings Shaked a little as small pebbles and rock started to fall down into the ground.
The Group was now alerted, looking around until one of them yelled out and pointed towards something in the distance.
In the distance, was a large, six-legged walker with what looked to be a giant laser cannon sitting in the middle section of it. It looked like the RLF strider, but without the drills and more… menacing. It had been completely armored and armed from the legs up to the body.
Through the optics they had they could make out PDFS, missile turret systems and special ports for Drones or other MTs to deploy.
But the main thing that caught their eyes was the elongated giant laser cannon. It was large, and it looked like it could take down a PCA warship in one shot from a mile away.
It was looking at them, its barrel glowing a baleful red.
"shit! RUN AND TAKE COVER!" With a cry, the lead MT scrambled to hide in whatever was able to take a blast as the rest of his squad mates scurried about to find cover.
It took less than thirty seconds for the large Cannon to fire, its shot Letting out a painful shriek as it collided and burned any building its way before impacting the ground and releasing a volatile Coral explosion that rocked the earth.
"Status report!"
"We lost two guys! Mark and Jenkins!"
"Damn it!" The lead MT looked back over to the giant Behemoth, seeing it ready for another shot.
"Fuck!" He soon dove back into cover as the Giant Laser screamed past him this time and missed its mark by a block. He soon came to a decision.
"Retreat! Everyone, Fall back!" At his works, the Squad started to run, their MT's pushed to the limits as they ran for their lives.
Over at the Giant machine, its captain gave a soft chuckle as he looked on his screen the fleeing corporate MT's.
"Sir, should we give chase?" One of the operators said, his face looking at the captain.
"No, we'll waste our time chasing ants. I believe Dirch will be able to solve that problem. Even if they somehow escape and send their findings, it won't matter much. The mother of all helped refit this ship from the ground up and I have faith in her along with the ship." The caption replied as he turned to look out to the ground before him. "Even if all falls to hide the Pride of the RLF, it would take Five armored Cores to have a chance to take us out. we will be fine for now and in the coming weeks."
as he looked out at the ground from up high, it made him feel like he was in an engine of war, being in his ship. He could almost say it made him feel like a god, but that would be arrogant.
After all, the ship is only as good as the captain, and he didn't become the captain for being arrogant.
