Chapter 4
Chapter 4 is finally here. Sorry about the wait. I'll try to get the next one out faster.
The Night of the Siege of Oasis City:
Scourge sneered as his troops ripped through Oasis City. "Well, well, King Albert, it's been a long time."
The king didn't respond. He simply stayed by his wife, holding her hand in a soothing gesture.
Looking around, the invader motioned to the female fox behind him. "Bring them to the balcony, Fiona."
"Yes, My Liege." Fiona had two guards haul the king and queen up and shove them out after Scourge.
"Well" he sneered at the couple, "I shall be kind and allow you both to see your precious city and people one last time."
King Albert looked down as the survivors were gathered below the balcony. Citizens and soldiers alike stared up at them, their faces full of terror. Taking her husband's hand, Queen Elisabeth looked at the onlookers with a sad smile.
Scourge watched them. "Nothing to say to your people?"
Looking down at them, Albert spoke. "Don't let this villain break you. You shall endure and be free of his cruelty one day."
The emperor frowned as clapping began before running the king through with his claymore. As the light left his eyes, Scourge threw the body over the balcony to land broken on the ground below. Queen Elisabeth blinked back her tears. "We'll be back together soon, my love."
Scourge sneered at her and spoke in a mocking tone. "So quick to accept your fate, Your Majesty? Did losing your husband break you?"
Elisabeth met his glare calmly. "I would never let someone like you break me."
Laughing, the green hedgehog gripped her arm roughly. "That almost makes me want to keep you alive for a little longer."
The queen didn't respond. Steeling herself, Elisabeth didn't react at all as her throat was severed and she was thrown to join her husband. Scourge sneered down at the onlookers. "Put our new slaves in chains. If anyone resists, do away with them."
Fiona turned to the soldiers behind her. "What are you laggards doing? Find the princess at once."
Scourge chuckled as the soldiers hastened to obey the order. "Fiona, where is General Fang? He was on the assault team, yes?"
The fox paused. She was dreading this question. "General Fang was slain by an enemy knight in black armor, according to the reports I received."
The emperor narrowed his eyes. "This kingdom had a knight capable of bringing down one of my generals. Hmmm …. Execute any surviving knights."
Fiona bowed. "Understood, Sire."
"And Fiona," Scourge eyed the fox, "Send for the rest of my generals."
Stepping out of the throne room, Fiona sent for two soldiers. To the first she said, "Execute any surviving knights immediately." She then turned to the other one. "Jet, you are to go to the encampment and order the four generals here as soon as possible."
The hawk bowed before flying towards their base. Fiona sighed and crossed her arms. "So much trouble for some puny, little princess."
Hope you all are enjoying the story so far.
