AURORA BOREALIS:

I decided to take the initiative before things got out of control. The girl was clearly afraid of me. According to Enoch, the humans debated before saving me. Between her fear and uncertainty and their need to debate such a thing, it's likely that this is a humanoid settlement, unfamiliar with demi-humans and heteromorphs. Even as an angel, I'm different from them. And people are prone to react emotionally when faced with the notion of "Different." Still, Angels ought to be known as "Good" Heteromorphs, no? Perhaps some angels in the past committed mass atrocities. No, they probably wouldn't have saved me if that were the case. No, they probably just didn't recognize me as an angel. That makes the most sense. Angels can take on many different forms as player characters, and far many more as summoned creatures.

Regardless, this girl was unfamiliar with me and therefore afraid. It'd be best to try and ease her. I could easily accomplish this with [pacify, but using skills on other people will probably be taken with offense. No, no skills or spells. Try to relax her with conventional means. Here goes nothing.

"Hello. What is your name?"

The girl hesitated before answering.

"My name is E-Enri Emmot." There, an opening!

"Your name is E-Enri Emmot?" I joked, hoping to put her at ease.

"No, I stuttered. Sorry. My name is Enri Emmot. Um…What is your name..sir?"

My name? What is my name? I almost answered with my name from Earth. But…that doesn't feel right. No, that's not who I am. But who am I? My name tag of Aurora Borealis feels a little… over the top. That name surely stands out. As I considered this, a few strands of hair caught my attention in the corner of my eye. Golden hair. Not blonde, but glittering gold. I reach my hand up to grab it when my attention fixates on my arm. My skin is a dark gray with dots of black over it. Myriad glowing tattoos of constellations brighten my skin. As I stared at Cassiopeia on my forearm, I noticed it drifting up ever so slightly, as though my skin were a calm pond and it was a leaf resting on the surface. I know bright fire in the shape of wings light the room from my back. These are all features that match my in-game avatar. And if these new features of mine all match one-to-one, then my eyes must hold the night sky with Aurora Borealis dancing within. Over the top it is then.

"You don't have to answer if yo-"

"Aurora Borealis." I interrupt, pronouncing the words slowly. "Please, call me Aurora, Miss Emmot."

ENRI EMMOT:

I don't know what to make of the man. He spoke with a strange accent I have never heard before. And the words he spoke didn't match up with his lips. Translation magic? I only vaguely knew of its existence thanks to Nfirea.

"You can just call me Enri, Mr. Aurora," I said.

"Very well, but only if you drop the 'Mr,'" He replied. "Enri, would mind if I asked a few questi-."

He was interrupted by the village Chief, Amon, running into the room, drawn by my shrieks when Aurora first woke up.

"Enri, what happened?" Amon said. Right as he finished his sentence, he realized that Aurora was awake, staring at him. "Uh, greetings sir."

"Greetings," Aurora replied. "My name is Aurora Borealis. What might your name be?"

"My name is Amon, I'm the Chief of this here village," Amon said.

"Ah, the chief himself is before me. Thank you for making an effort for me."

"If you don't mind me asking, Lord Aurora…What exactly happened to you last night?"

I wondered why Chief Amon addressed Aurora as "Lord." That title was reserved for nobles who owned land and such. But then I considered Aurora's strange clothing and jewelry. He wore an elaborate white robe with a purple sash covering one of his shoulders, going all the way down to his opposite waist. Golden embroidery covered the ends of the sleeves, the neck, and the bottom of the robe. It depicted flowing vines and leaves, with tiny amethysts depicting fruit in some places. The robe had a low collar, showing his upper chest and the two necklaces he wore. His robe was held at his waist by a golden sash. He wore fancy golden sandals that wrapped all the way up to his upper shins. And his rings! They were elaborate, gemstones, gold, with a couple of silver rings. A single item of his, even a glove cut from the same cloth as his robe probably cost more than this village. Given the apparent wealth he possessed, it'd be difficult to imagine him as not being of nobility. Did all nobles dress like that?

"I'm not quite sure. In what scenario was I found?" Aurora asked.

"Enri Emmot here reported seeing a shooting star crash into the local forest. At first light, a scouting party left to go find the crash site and they found you in the center. They brought you back here less than an hour ago. The local healer, Roger, tried tending to you but nothing seemed to work. He left a few minutes ago to go get some different medicines."

Aurora paused for a moment, clearly thinking. "I see. That certainly explains my aching body. While I'm grateful to this Roger for his efforts, I don't require further medical attention."

"I see. I have another question if you don't mind me asking, my Lord." Amon said, hesitation clear in his voice. When Aurora didn't say anything, he continued. "What, uhh, what exactly are you?"

Aurora cocked an eyebrow.

"I-I don't mean to offend, it's just that I've never seen one of your kind before." The chief backpedaled, clearly wary of offending Aurora. Aurora chuckled a bit before answering.

"I am an angel. Are you unfamiliar with my kind, Chief Amon?" Aurora asked.

"An angel! Er, no I've never seen your kind before." Amon replied.

Before any more words were said, Aurora's wings retracted into his back. It dawned on me that they emerged through the cloth of his robe. His skin and hair began to change color as soon as the wings were completely gone. His skin quickly shifted to a fair tone, not pale like a noble's but not tan like a serf's. The glimmering golden hair became an auburn tone. The strange drifting tattoos were gone. His eyes still depicted a galaxy within them. One blink, and his eyes were bright blue. His floating crown-his halo-disappeared. He was still dressed head to toe in wealth, but now he looked like an absurdly rich half-elf instead of an angel.

He rose to his feet and stretched, hands clasped above him, palms pointed to the sky. After rolling his neck and wrist several times, he turned to the chief.

"Please, Chief Amon, just call me Aurora."

"Very well then, Aurora. Would you care to join my wife Mabel and I for some tea?"

"That sounds very lovely. Thank you for your hospitality."

Amon then addressed me.

"Enri, would you go find Roger and let him know that our guest has woken up and doesn't need any more attention."

I was being dismissed. Fine by me, just being near Aurora was stressful. An angel! I can hardly believe it. He looks nothing like what I thought the messenger of the gods would look like. But why was he here? Was it related to my wish? Or for some other reason?

Realizing I was staring, I jumped into action.

"Yes sir. I'll go find him at once!" I nearly shouted, before hurrying out of the room. Mabel who was in the doorway watching the conversation since the beginning, moved out of my way. Before I could turn the corner out of the angel's sight, he spoke my name.

"Enri Emmot." He spoke slowly. Oh no. Oh no no no. Was he going to smite me for a selfish wish?

"Y-Yes?" I turned around slowly, fear beating through my heart.

"You went out of your way to care for a stranger when they were in a compromised position. That speaks volumes to your good heart and kind nature. And for that, you have my gratitude." And then he bowed his head to me. To me! A messenger of the Gods bowing to a simple villager.

"I-It's no big deal. I was j-just doing what my fath-ther asked of me an-" As I sputtered out excuses, Mabel tapped me on the shoulder, shook her head, and mouthed "You're welcome." I took a breath and said:

"You're welcome." With that, he raised his head and smiled at me.

As I turned and left the chief's home, I heard him ask Mabel to prepare tea for the three of them.
