Freeze

Chapter 10: Frostbite vs Glaciar: A Score to be settled

Danny had been in the middle of telling the story but stopped to take a break for a moment when he noticed the ice was melting and he needed to use his powers again to re-freeze it.

Once done, he returned to his friends and girlfriend.

"Okay, where were we?..."Danny asked.

"You and Star had just talked about how she learned about Glaciar's history with Frostbite..." Sam said.

"And then you mentioned how you finally finished your so-called training, and that jerk deemed you ready..."Tucker said.

"Oh right. Anyway, as Star and Frostbite were trying to find me, that jerk kept ordering me around..." Danny said, frowning as he continued.

The story

Danny and Glaciar were now at the cave where the chalice was rumored to be. And now it was time to see if the training would pay off.

"Ready, Great One?..."Glaciar asked.

"As ready as I'll ever be..."Danny muttered as he nodded.

The ghost boy got ready. Glaciar soon recited some kind of chant and a new cave appeared that had previously been hidden, surprising Danny. However, before Danny could walk in Glaciar held out a hand.

"To reach the location of the chalice, one must overcome all these traps and puzzles and survive them..."Glaciar explained.

"Traps and puzzles? Like some kind of video game temple?..."Danny questioned.

No sooner when he said that, the entire place began to glow and shake. Danny saw this and groaned.

"Let me guess... all the traps were set up at random places in this cave and we just activated one of the first ones?..."Danny asked sarcastically.

"Didn't I mention that during your training?..."Glaciar asked as Danny glared at him.

"No. No, you didn't..."Danny said, hiding his displeasure at this.

Some obstacles appeared as well, and the traps were set off. Several dozen glowing arrows appeared from all directions toward them, but Danny and Glaciar managed to dodge them and avoid being hit.

"More are on the way..."Glaciar said, pointing ahead to where other supernatural traps appeared.

Such as falling spikes, a pitfall full of spikes, blades swinging out from the walls, part of the ceiling dropping down like a hammer before lifting back up, and the most recognizable trap, closing walls with spikes.

"Impressive engineering. According to my calculations, a trap is designed to go off...precisely every seven seconds..."Glaciar said, sounding impressed but Danny wasn't.

The yeti ghost then looked cocky, stepping forward as Danny reached out, grabbing Glaciar, and pulling him back from a long blade that slid out of the wall.

"How cliché. What's next? A tripwires going to cause a giant boulder to roll at us?..."Danny muttered as he used his powers to easily avoid them and get into the next room.

One of the traps was a set of a fake floor that was thin enough to break when someone heavy enough could fall right through and fall into a pool of hot magma.

"Seriously? How the heck can there be LAVA in an ICY cave?!..."Danny asked, questioning the logic here.

"Magic ice that was brought here by the one-time artificial portal centuries ago..."Glaciar explained quickly.

The ghost boy rolled his eyes at that being the explanation, though he was surprised that such technology existed back then.

"Wait? The chalice was trapped here for centuries...but the only people I know who could make artificial portals are my parents and Vlad. I wonder who could have been smart enough to create something like that back then? I mean...other than the Far Frozen but why would they-..."Danny's train of thought halted as the danger continued.

Other traps were set with ecto-shields powered by stones from the Ghost Zone. Explosive mines that zap unexpected victims into electrocuting themselves. Giant ice boulders with sharp rock spikes within them would be launched at any explorer by stepping on the wrong stone platform. There was even a trapdoor that had a small wild garden of blood blossoms at the bottom with long icicle spikes ready to skewer anyone unfortunate enough to fall into it.

The last obstacle had an explosion trap that Danny and Glaciar managed to escape at the last minute. Danny was surprised he wasn't a full ghost by now, to be honest. Especially after another explosion. With the last trap going off six point five seconds.

"Did whoever built all those traps really need that last one to explode that much?!..." Danny thought as he looked back at all the traps that failed to stop them.

With the final trap now finished, Danny turned to the yeti ghost.

"Was that the last of it?..."The ghost boy asked.

"It was the last of it. And it was impressively devious..."Glaciar said, and Danny sighed.

"Now where to?..."Danny asked, wanting all of this over with.

No sooner when he said this, a glow surrounded him and Glaciar, who smirked.

"There is the next pathway to the chamber of the chalice..."He said as a new cavern appeared nearby, glowing and getting their attention.

"Great. I'm starting to wonder why some explorers in those movies always seem to look forward to their next exploration for ruins after surviving the last death trap..." Danny thought to himself.

There it was.

The secret entrance to the chalice was currently behind a waterfall that was blocking the overwalkway towards it, which was now visible. Danny followed the ice-legged ghost yeti up the roaring waterfall, while Glaciar placed his clawed hand on the rocky soaked wall and pushed a hidden switch. Causing the waterfall in front of the two of them to divide in two ways and open up the walkway.

Soon, the stairway at the entrance looked like it would go on for an unspecified amount of time.

"Of course..."Danny thought as they kept walking.

The ghost boy also couldn't help but notice something familiar about this experience.

"This long stairway kind of reminds me of that one Turbo Toni game, that part of the game used to drive Star crazy..." Danny thought as they continued floating.

The two were now inside and Danny spotted a large, frozen lake inside it that seemed to go on for miles. It was basically a huge cavern of ice of some sort.

"So, this is the place?..." Danny asked.

"Indeed. This cave is called the Caverns of a Thousand Snowstorms, also known as the Chamber of the Chalice..."Glaicar explained.

"Okay, where do I start?..." Danny asked, as Glaciar soon pointed to the edge of the lake.

"This is where you will begin the Path of the Far frozen warrior. Once you have done it PERFECTLY, the barrier with the chalice will appear...and then you will be able to retrieve it for Frostbite..."Glaciar said.

Despite how tired and overworked he had been these past few days, Danny nodded and got ready.

"Here goes everything..." Danny said as he put on his skates and soon took his first step on the icy floor he was about to skate on.

He soon stepped onto the frozen lake with his skates on. With his balance now perfect, the ghost boy dawned a determined look on his face and got ready to put the last few dreadful days of training to good use.

"Let's hope all that training was good for something..." Danny said as he began.

All the while, Glaciar was smirking darkly while the ghost boy couldn't see his face.

"Soon..."He thought darkly, feeling his victory closer than ever now.

Meanwhile

With Star

"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!..."Star yelled as she clung to the map for dear life.

Frostbite also hung onto the map and tried to reassure her.

"The map says we are almost where the Great One is, Lady Star. Just hang tight!..."Frostbite yelled as the blonde girl kept clinging to the map with all her might.

"When this is over, I'm going to spend a day with my Danny doing something romantic and relaxing at a tropical resort or watch a movie together under a warm blanket or feeding each other roasted marshmallows next to a fireplace or maybe both..."Star thought before she felt slightly nauseous.

"And maybe find some barf bags first..." She mentally added and made a mental note to see if she could ask Danny's parents to make some ghost-proof barf bags.

Elsewhere

Unknown to Star and Danny, Stella was still enjoying her walk. Or at least that was what she was telling herself. However, she noticed that it was getting late. The sun looked like it was going to start setting in about another half hour or so.

"Oh dear. Is it that late already? Maybe I should go back before it gets too dark to see..."Stella thought.

However, as she was on her way back...she noticed a nearby cave...and a glowing light deep within it.

"Huh?..."Stella said as her curiosity grew.

She went to check it out and saw a cave entrance ...and everything seemed to be glowing.

"I don't remember this cave. I wonder what this is..."Stella thought, as she walked towards the cave entrance and soon saw what looked to be arrows on a nearby wall and broken traps that had some very cold ice and that gentle bluish glow to them.

Despite being wary, the blonde woman's curiosity remained as she looked around. Seeing what looked to have been some sort of brawl here, the blonde woman was briefly speechless.

"What on Earth did all of this?..."Stella thought, looking more confused now.

She wanted to head back but soon spotted something sparkling within it. She became curious when she saw what looked to be some kind of frost-covered blue glowing runes and even flowers of all things.

"Flowers? In this weather?..."She thought, surprised and questioning the logic here.

She also saw some strange-looking lightning bugs flying inside the cave and lighting up the inside as some strange symbols glowed the same bluish color as the ice.

"What are these glowing shapes?..."Stella thought, slowly letting her curiosity get the better of her as she followed the glowing symbols and lightning bugs that helped light the way.

Back in reality

"Wait...how did you know your mom-..."Sam was cut off when Star sighed.

"She told me. Look, I promise that we'll answer that question later in this story. Trust me, there's still more to tell before we get to the twist..."Star said as Danny sighed.

"Anyway, while all that happened...I was still acting like Glaciar's little puppet..."Danny said bitterly as he continued.

Back to the story

Danny had begun to skate. He began the routine he had spent the last few days practicing down to a T.

"Alright, so far so good..."Danny thought as he spun around and did flips.

Danny couldn't help but feel a bit proud of himself for nailing the ice-skating routine that he had worked so hard to memorize the last few days, he just wished that his girlfriend Star could see him right now.

"Finally..."Danny thought as he performed the final move of the path of the far-frozen warrior.

As he did so, he kept thinking about his girlfriend and almost wishing she was here to see this.

"I wonder if Star and I practiced some duet staking together, we could totally pull off the lifting maneuver..." He thought as he then managed to perform the final move just like how he practiced and memorized.

With that, the ghost boy finally stopped. He was breathing heavily, looking tired and almost out of breath.

"So how was that, coach?..." Danny asked Glaciar.

Just as he said that the barrier with the chalice soon appeared, the temperature within the room immediately dropped several degrees from the ground and roof above them as the chalice was in full view from within its barrier.

Glaciar smiled.

"It was perfect..."Was all he said.

The ghost boy and the far-frozen warrior soon walked towards it. They soon saw what looked to be an ancient but elegant-looking pedestal and on it was a cup made of a material that was a mixture of ice and metal in the perfect form of an ancient chalice, and both were surrounded by a barrier.

"So, this is it?..." Danny asked while Glaciar looked like a kid about to get his favorite dessert.

No, he looked like he was about to shed a few tears out of joy from just seeing it.

"At last! After all these years! I finally see it with my own eyes!..."Glaciar said, sounding emotional now but restrained himself.

"Now, Great One. Care to do the honors? Though you'd have to be human since the barrier is ghost-proof..."Glaciar reminded.

Not thinking much about it, Danny did just that. He changed into his human form and walked closer. He managed to get through the barrier and was now face-to-face with the legendary chalice.

"Got it..."Danny said as he picked it up but was surprised that it started to glow brighter.

Glaciar got excited that the chalice was almost within his grasp.

"Excellent! Bring it here!..."Glaciar ordered, barely containing himself as he reached out one of his arms to be given the ancient relic.

Before Danny could even think about passing this mythical relic to Glaciar, he immediately noticed that the Chalice didn't feel cold to him despite it being partly made of ice.
The half-ghost boy also felt some part of himself grew stronger from just holding the ancient chalice as his eyes glowed a brighter shade of blue.

"Well...what are you waiting for? Give it here!..."Glaciar said with a bit more urgency in his voice, which got the half-ghost boy's attention.

However, something strange happened. Danny seemed to be briefly hypnotized for some reason as he stared at the ancient ghostly treasure in his hands as if it was trying to tell him something.

As if it wanted to be put right back where he found it. Danny almost gave in as it felt as if the chalice itself was trying to tell him that it shouldn't be taken away from its spot, but the ghost boy snapped out of it when Glaciar started yelling again and the ghost boy's thought process with the chalice was interrupted.

"Great One! I mean no disrespect but...can you please speed things up?! Frostbite is waiting!..."Glaciar said impatiently.

Danny seemed to have snapped out of whatever trance he was just in, as he tried to make sense of what just happened. Not sure how to explain it, the ghost boy felt that something wasn't right, but he remembered that Frostbite had asked his right-hand yeti to relocate this powerful cup somewhere safer and he decided to just honor his old friend's request instead of whatever the ancient mystical relic was trying to do.

"This...this thing will probably be a lot safer in the Far Frozen's hands than mine. Besides, it's not like I need a major power-up or that there's some big threat for me to question if I'm strong enough to deal with..." Danny thought to himself before he started pushing all the icy energy back into the chalice that he felt within himself.

He began to walk back to Glaciar, whose hands were still reaching out for the chalice.

"It's finally mine!..."Glaciar thought in excitement as he saw his prize almost within his grasp.

Before Danny could hand it over to the ghostly yeti, something happened. A natural ghost portal appeared and got their attention. Especially since it caused a minor explosion.

"What the heck?!..."Danny exclaimed as the force sent him and Glaciar back and the ghost boy accidentally let go of the chalice.

Soon, Danny could hear some very familiar voices coming from it and he and Glaciar were now both face to face with beings who had largely affected their lives and afterlives respectively.

It was Star and Frostbite, surprising the ghost boy.

"DANNY! DON'T!..."Star shouted as soon as she spotted him.

Danny was shocked upon seeing his girlfriend and his ghostly mentor here right now.

"Star? Frostbite? Huh? How did you both get here?..."Danny exclaimed, wondering what was going on.

Glaciar saw Frostbite and gasped.

"YOU?!..."He exclaimed while Frostbite sent him a look colder than even the Far Frozen itself.

"It's been a long time...brother..."Frostbite said, saying the last word sarcastically.

The chief of the Far Frozen continued to glare at his former friend, while he hit the gold decoration on his cape, which glowed and sent a signal to his soldiers.

"Warriors of the Far Frozen, join me in the battle..."He whispered.

He knew that they would be here soon, though it would take a while for the spell to be fully in effect. Thankfully, he knew the PERFECT way to pass the time. By crushing that traitor like the vermin he is!

Glaciar saw what he did and rolled his eyes.

"I see you sent that distress signal to the others. No matter, let them show up. They can watch me take the title of chief away from you.."Glaciar said arrogantly.

"I see your still as delusional as ever..."Frostbite said, ready to tear him apart.

All the while, Star tried to tell Danny the truth.

"Danny, don't listen to what that creep has to say! Don't give him that thing!..."Star insisted as she ran towards Danny.

"Star, what's going on?..."Danny asked, completely lost.

"He's a liar!..."Star yelled as he pointed at Glaciar. "He's NOT Frostbite's second in command anymore! He's a liar and a traitor who's been playing the both of us this whole time!..."She insisted.

"WHAT?!..."Danny exclaimed.

"Lady Star speaks the truth, Great One. Glaciar is no friend of the Far Frozen. Not anymore..."Frostbite said as he didn't look away from his former second-in-command once this whole time.

Hearing this made Danny quiet for a moment, almost frozen, while Glaciar let out a sigh and dropped the charade.

"Well...I guess the snow leopard is out of the bag..."Glaciar said, but Danny then reacted to what he had just learned.

"WHAT?!..." Danny yelled so loud, he almost caused an avalanche in the cave, but he barely noticed as he was so furious right now.

The half-ghost boy hadn't even morphed into his ghost form yet, but Danny's eyes were burning with a green glow at the ghost yeti that tricked him but the two snow yeti didn't notice him yet.

"My old friend...seeing you again makes my old wounds ache..."Glaciar said with sarcasm, glaring at him.

"I feel the same..." Frostbite said, patting his arm. "Though my wounds have long since healed, the heart is forever scarred by your betrayal..."He added.

"If you would like, I can end your pain permanently...old friend..."Glaciar said, only to suddenly be face to face with the ghost boy.

However, he was quiet now. Though his eyes were clearly angry.

"Let me get this straight. The whole you and Frostbite being friends and you being on an important mission was just some big fat lie...and you trained me like a dictator and drill sergeant for days...all just so you could steal an ancient treasure just to make yourself stronger and get even with the Far Frozen and your ex-friend?..." Danny asked in a strangely tranquil voice, with almost no emotion.

Seeing as he was already outed as a traitor, Glaciar didn't even bother to lie now.

"Indeed. Honestly, I'm disappointed that it even took you this long to notice, Great One. All those rumors, legends, and prophecies that foretold about the Great One destined to be the savior of the Ghost Zone. Only to result into being such a foolish and naive teenage whelp such as you..."Glaciar mocked, while Danny got angrier.

But the evil yeti ghost wasn't done yet as he continued to add insult to injury towards the ghost boy.

"I mean...you made it too easy. We only knew each other for a few days and all I had to tell you was Frostbite's name and you did everything I wanted you to do. Not my fault that you're clueless. Still, I must thank you "Great One", you were the most perfect pawn for my plans. Also, it's been made crystal clear to me that it wasn't your intelligence that helped you defeat Pariah Dark, but mere luck on your side. It really is embarrassing that my people place the legend of the so-called Great One on such a high pedestal, when the real person behind the prophecy is such a disappointment..."Glaciar said smugly, only to soon see the kind of mistake he just made.

"Okay, I've been trying to be nice since I thought you were Frostbite's friend...but not anymore! You asked for it!..." Danny said before his eyes glowed green in fury.

He finally morphed into his ghost form with a quick flash of glowing bright rings running across his body. Danny then punched Glaciar with all his strength and sent him into a nearby wall.

"I've wanted to do that for days..."He muttered, still furious at that jerk for what he had done.

Frostbite and Star both saw this. Star smiled and Frostbite had even more respect for the Great One now.

"Serves him right..." Star said, glad to see that jerk finally getting some karma.

"Nicely done, Great One..."Frostbite complimented the half-ghost hero.

"Thanks..." Danny said but was still angry.

Glaciar recovered and was furious as he quickly regained his balance.

"Looks like we have to do this the hard way!..."He grumbled as ice claws grew over his hand.

"Now, hand over the chalice and kneel to me...and I'll let you live!..."Glaciar ordered, glaring at all of them.

"As if! I wouldn't give you that thing if you were the last ghost on the planet!..."Danny yelled as he was ready to tear him to shreds for what he put them through.

Star mentally regretted not bringing any ghost-hunting gear with heavy firepower, for now, she just has to make do with whatever she has on hand along with her fists and natural abilities. Easier said than done but the heroes really wanted to get back at that evil ghost.

"The only thing you're getting is a swift kick to your lying face!..." Star said, which was a sentiment that Danny and Frostbite agreed with.

Both Danny and Star were ready to kick this new ghost's furry butt for all trouble he put them through, but Frostbite quickly reminded the both of them of another more important thing.

"Quick, Great One! Hand me the chalice! I need to set up the barrier again, in order to keep it away from that scoundrel!..."Frostbite pleaded.

Danny tried to hand it over, only to see that he didn't have it.

"Oh no, don't tell me I dropped it?! Where'd it go?! I just had it right on my hands!..."Danny said, panicking.

"Seriously?!..."Star exclaimed, as she also began looking for the chalice too.

"Cut me some slack! I've been going through insane training that makes Tesslaff's gym class seem fun, so I'm pretty tired!..." Danny said, stressed out. "Look, just help me find the chalice and keep it away from that jerk!..." He said as they tried to look.

"We'll discuss the Great One's well-being later! Right now, we must find that chalice before Glaciar does!..."Frostbite reminded.

Danny and Star both nodded.

The heroes all began to look and scattered across the large room within the cave in search of the Far Frozen relic and so was Glaciar. Both heroes and the sole villain tried to search for it, each one desperate for their own reasons. Until one of them was lucky enough to spot it first.

"Wait, it's over there!..."Star shouted, as she pointed at the chalice stuck within the snowy walls of this cave.

"THE CHALICE?!..." Danny, Star, Frostbite, and Glaciar all yelled when they spotted it.

They all shared a look, before they all ran...or rather, skated towards it.

"Oh no, you don't!..."Frostbite yelled as he tackled Glaciar and sent him crashing into another cave wall.

Glaciar growled and quickly got up as he glared at his sworn enemy and former friend.

"I see you learned a few dirty tricks over the last few centuries...brother..."Glaciar spat.

"No doubt that he learned some of them from you of all ghosts..." Star said as she used her cheerleading gymnastics to use Glaciar's face as a springboard to launch herself closer to the chalice.

"GAHHH!..."Glaciar yelled.

"That's for ruining my vacation with Danny!..."Star yelled as she used more of her gymnast skills to inch herself closer to the ancient relic.

"Pesky female!..."Glaciar yelled at her.

"Call it payback, jerk!..." Star said with her saber ready now.

Glaciar snarled at her, his claws ready. Before he could do anything, he was hit with an ice blast from the back, courtesy of an enraged Danny Phantom.

"Stay away from my girlfriend!..."Danny yelled at him.

"I'll make you pay for that, brat!..."Glaciar yelled at him as he pulled one of his weapons and fired at him.

However, as the battle continued, everyone didn't notice the chalice now suddenly began to glow. It seems that when Danny had his hands on it, the surrounding area began glowing different shades of blue with a hint of green as well.

"What the?!..."Danny exclaimed but it didn't end there.

Suddenly, the ground began to shake and everyone panicked as the entire area became more and more unstable.

"What's going on?!..."Star shouted as the environment seemed to change.

She and Danny had no idea what was going on, but Frostbite did.

"It's a safety feature in the chalice..."Frostbite explained.

"WHAT?! There was never any mention of that in the old tomes!..."Glaciar yelled, while his enemy glared at him.

"It's a secret only the chief is allowed to know. My predecessor told me that in the event of something like an earthquake or unworthy hands trying to reach it, the chalice would temporarily take itself and the entire chamber back to the ghost zone. To both protect it and defend it against those it views as unworthy of its sacred power..."Frostbite said.

No sooner when he said that, the exact thing happened. A green dome suddenly surrounded the entire area and they soon found themselves in the ghost zone.

"Man, that's some safety feature..."Danny said.

Glaciar growled.

"No matter! I'll prove to even the chalice itself that I am more than worthy of its power than some pesky teenager with unearned powers or a gutless old fool whose only saving grace was brute strength!..."He yelled as he tried to skate towards the chalice again.

However, his enemies had other plans.

"YOU ARE NOT WORTHY! And who are you calling a gutless old fool?! If memory serves me, you were the one who was too terrified to venture outside the village as cubs! You used to be too afraid to pet arctic ghost bats of all things!..."Frostbite yelled at his ex-friend.

Glaciar looked mortified when he heard that.

"THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE OUR SECRET AND YOU WERE SWORN TO SECRECY!..."Glaciar screamed at him.

Frostbite rolled his eyes.

"That promise only applied because I said I would never break a promise I made with my friend. And we haven't been that for a long time..."Frostbite reminded as he used his ice powers to fire at him.

Glaciar pulled out one of his weapons to deflect it.

"Still relying on your gadgets instead of trying to improve your natural abilities?..."Frostbite said, not impressed at all.

"Still relying on brute force and old traditional methods and even older legends and fabricated prophecies to guide your thinking?..."Glaciar snarled as he pulled out another weapon and fired at him.

Frostbite managed to deflect it. The two ghost yetis were so distracted by facing one another after many years, that they both forgot that they were not alone.

"I'm going to break your face, you phony!..."Danny shouted as he punched Glaciar in the gut.

The evil yeti ghost tried to get up and get back in the fight. Before he could do anything, he was hit with an ice blast from the back and could guess who the sender of that was as he briefly turned his head to the half-ghost hero with an outstretched arm with bits of frost in the tips of his hand.

"And that was for tricking me into being your unwitting pawn for the last few days and ruining my vacation!..." Danny yelled at him.

"When I am the leader of the Far Frozen AND the entire Ghost Zone, I'll personally make you and everyone here serve me! And the first order will be making ice sculptors to make glorious statues in my honor until the cold temperatures freeze your very souls away!..."Glaciar yelled at him.

"So not happening!..." Danny, Star, and Frostbite all yelled.

The moment that all the heroes were about to strike another attack on the evil ghost Yeti, the whole area suddenly changed from glowing blue with hints of green to now glowing green with hints of blue instead. Even the gravity surrounding them suddenly felt like it shifted a bit.

"Huh?!..."All of them thought, wondering what was happening right now.

Suddenly, a portal appeared and soon dozens of warriors of the Far Frozen showed up.

"Warriors of the far frozen! Fight!..."Frost, one of the warriors declared.

"What took you guys so long?..."Star asked, annoyed that it took them a while.

"Forgive us, Lady Star. Artificial temporary portals take some time..."Another warrior said before they all held their weapons in place.

Glaciar glared at them.

"Oh please, like I didn't prepare for a day like this..."He said as he pulled out another of his gadgets.

Before anyone knew it, drones turned visible and ended up trapping the warriors behind a laser barrier.

"WHAT THE HECK?!..."The warriors all yelled.

"RELEASE US, YOU TRAITOR!..."Another shouted as they tried to break out of the barrier, only to be zapped.

"Not happening. I didn't feel the need to use these and I was saving them for when Frostbite proved to be too annoying but you all left me no choice. And given the limited supplies I had to work with, the effects will only last a few minutes. Which is much more than I need to take my rightful place as the new ruler chief of the Far Frozen!..."Glaciar declared in a demented way.

"We'll see about that, you egomaniac!..."Danny yelled as he fired ice at him.

Glaciar used another gadget to deflect it.

"I didn't use these droids since I didn't feel like I needed them to deal with the likes of you. And I still don't. Not for you Frostbite not for your so-called Great One and certainly not that weak little female..."Glaciar said, receiving more glares from his enemies.

"Wow, I can't believe it but he just made me hate him even more and I didn't think that was possible..."Star said, angry.

"You can say that again..."Danny said, glaring and eyes glowing green, ready to continue this fight.

"Your arrogance will cost you greatly, yet again..."Frostbite said grimly, as he fired ice blasts while Danny sent ecto-blasts while Star tried to strike him with her weapons.

Glaciar scoffed before he kept using his technology to deflect their attacks and soon went back to using his other gadgets to deal with his enemies.

All of whom were more than ready to continue this fight.

Meanwhile

Things were still getting crazy, as hard as it may be to believe as everyone from the heroes to the big villain were keeping one another from grabbing the Chalice of Cold. All the while, someone else was distracted by something inside the same cave as our heroes.

The moment Stella touched the glowing flowers activated its defensive properties by spraying sleep-inducing pollen at the blonde woman, causing Stella to slowly slide against the cave wall and fall asleep due to her sudden drowsiness.

As the blonde woman slid against the cave wall, she also brushed against a particular flower that glowed and sent her somewhere else within the cave.

"Huh? What?..."Star's mother thought.

Amidst the chaos, Stella walked into the cavern after hearing all the noise and explosions.

"Ow, what with all the noise? Can't a woman enjoy a beauty nap?..."Stella said as she slowly picked herself up while dusting herself off and shaking her head.

What was all that racket?

The blonde woman began to walk towards the noises she was hearing in a slightly drowsy state of mind as she rubbed her eyes. Stella gasped once she saw that they were now in some kind of icy area and saw green skies and purple floating doors everywhere.

"What the? Huh?..."She exclaimed as she looked like she was about to freak out.

However, she noticed all sorts of bizarre things float past the icy floating mass of land she was currently standing on. Such as purple rocks varying from being as small as a pebble to being as big as boulders, a random assortment of doors floating around with seeming no purpose and Stella even thinks that she sees a light blue dragon flying across the green skies in the direction with two hooded men with an axe and longbow. Stella rubbed her eyes to make sure that she wasn't hallucinating or anything like that until something else caught her attention.

"I must be seeing things...because if I didn't know any better, I'd say that young girl looked a lot like my Star. Wait, is that actually my Star?..." Stella muttered to herself.

Seeing her daughter fighting a yeti with a laser sword alongside Danny Phantom over a souvenir chalice that seemed to glow, the blonde woman had no idea what was going on.

"What the? Oh...wait...I must be dreaming. Strange, I don't remember falling asleep..." Stella said, seeing all the insane things around her.

"Oh my... must have been that shrimp I ate for lunch..."She thought, thinking all of this was a strange dream.

After she said this, things got even stranger. Suddenly, what looked to be an army of more yeti's appeared to surround the area. Though they seemed to be trapped in some kind of stranger barrier for some reason.

"What are those? Yetis?..."She questioned more about this bizarre dream.

They were all wielding what looked like spears to her and some winter equipment with some sort of warrior design aesthetic. Not her style but it worked well for them. Particularly the one with the false arm. The skinny one with the prosthetic leg looked more like a poser compared to the big one.

All of which haven't seemed to notice her at all.

"Weirdest dream ever..."She thought, wondering why this was happening.

However, as she stepped back, she noticed a pair of unused ice skates nearby. Those immediately got her attention. Not questioning dream logic, Stella placed them on her feet and began to skate around. She even found herself grinning too.

"Oh, who cares if this is a dream? Might as well make the most of it..."Stella thought as she began to glide on the ice, not caring about the insanity happening around her right now.

Why should she if it's only a dream, right?

With Danny

The ghost boy was getting tired now but ignored it. He can't give up now. He had to get the chalice back to where it belonged and stop that lying traitor who tricked him.

"Gotta keep that cup away from that huge jerk. How are the others doing?..." Danny thought as he checked on his girlfriend and his real mentor.

Danny looked towards Star and Frostbite to see how they were fairing. Star was keeping up as best as she could within her human limits, thankfully she has not taken any hits but all her jumping around the enemy is taking a slight toll on her. While Frostbite was barely out of breath, his focus was split between battling against Glaciar, keeping the chalice away from the traitor, and defending both Star and Danny from Glaciar's attacks.

"This is the most stressful game of keep away I've ever played. Focus Fenton, how do you take this guy down, while looking out for Star and Frostbite and get the chalice back where it belongs?..." Danny thought to himself while making a ghost shield to defend against one of Glaciar 's ice attacks at his allies.

"UGH! Will you fools get out of my way?!..."Glaciar yelled out of frustration.

Things became more difficult as the area became more unstable and started to shake, especially when Glaciar was desperate to get his hands on the Chalice and the heroes were desperate to stop him. Seeing a cup at the edge of the frozen lake, the blonde woman tried to pick it up, but it got away from her reach when some small rubble from the cave's ceiling fell on top of the icy ancient cup.

"Surprisingly slippery little thing..."Stella thought but continued but still had some difficulty.

"Uh oh! Seems like this is one of your dreams that are too realistic. I can't remember the last time I've had one of those..."Stella summarized, before shrugging.

"Oh well, C'est la vie. Although I guess in this case it's more like c'est un rêve..." Stella added while the heroes were still busy fighting for the chalice against the lone villain.

Even if this was just a figment of her imagination, she wanted to ice skate and that must be what this dream was about. Though her ice-skating dreams didn't usually have ghosts in them. But that was par for the course she supposed dreams weren't supposed to make sense.

Well, best enjoy this dream as much as she can before she wakes up.

Meanwhile

During this time, everyone else was desperate to reach the chalice and keep it away from the enemy. The desperation increased once the chalice was unlocked.

"THE CHALICE?!..." Glaciar yelled, running towards it.

"I got it!..."Danny shouted as he tried to reach for it.

"Don't let that traitor get near it!..."Frostbite shouted.

They all skated towards the chalice. Frostbite almost reaches it but is shoulder-checked by Glaciar who turns back throwing his head back before breathing out a powerful beam of ice at the ground turning the lake into a maze of spikes.

"Frostbite?!..."Danny shouted in concern for his friend.

"I'm fine, my friend! Just get the chalice!..."Frostbite ordered as he pried his good hand from the ice spikes.

The half-ghost hero sighed in relief until he looked around and began worrying about his girlfriend's well-being.

"Danny!..." Star shouted, calling out to her boyfriend as she was slightly caged with some strategically placed ice spikes.

"Star!..."Danny shouted as he looped back, grabbing Star and holding her bridal style.

"I lost sight of the chalice. Do you see it?..." Danny asked.

"No...I don't-...wait... is that my mom?!..." Star exclaimed in shock, as she saw someone else here.

"Your mom?!..." Danny asked, before seeing Stella skating into the frozen lake and gracefully gliding through the maze and leaping over spikes.

"Mom?!..." Star exclaimed.

Her mother briefly stopped and just smiled at her.

"Hi, Star Darling! I must say this has to be the strangest dream ever but it's fun!..."Stella said cheerfully as she continued to skate.

"Wait? She thinks this is a dream? And how did she even end up here?..."Danny asked while Star was just as confused.

Before they could say anything, they could hear Frostbite and Glaciar still fighting, reminding them of their situation here first.

"Let's deal with this in order of importance! Get the chalice and kick Glaciar's butt first, deal with my mom and her thinking this is all a dream later..."Star said as she listed them off.

Her boyfriend nodded his head in agreement before they went back to rejoin the battle.

"Hopefully Frostbite managed to find it first, or at least is managing to keep Glaciar from getting it..." Danny said, both concerned and hopeful for his original Far Frozen mentor.

As the Far Frozen Relic remains on the icy floor of the battlefield. Two ghost yeti veteran warriors spot the relic, but also take immediate notice of one another and slowly glared at each other. Both of them knew that before grabbing the chalice, they had to settle some personal unfinished business with each other. And they only knew of one way to do it...by charging at one another at full focus and screaming at each other.

"GLACIAR!..."Frostbite yelled, as he rushed towards his ex-friend with his icy arm arched back.

"FROSTBITE!..."Glaciar screamed, as he seemed to mirror his former friend's movements but was actually going to strike with his icy leg instead.

Once the two ghost yetis clashed with each other, a shockwave of cold energy surrounded the both of them as they glared down at one another.

"AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!..."They both yelled at each other, as the fight continued.

Stella continued to be blissfully ignorant as she continued to believe this was all a dream and just continued what she thought was the craziest ice-skating competition she'd ever dreamed of.

"This is a blast!..."Stella said as she continued to jump and twirl around obstacles.

The traps suddenly appeared and giant frozen logs were about to be launched at her, looking like it was about to crush her. Star and Danny panicked.

"Hang on, Ma'am!..." Danny shouted, but due to the speed of the launched icy log and the distance between himself and Stella, he wouldn't make it in time.

"MOM?!..."Star shouted, worried for her safety.

However, to her surprise, Stella effortlessly skated around the obstacles, and the traps missed their mark. She even did a perfect backflip to avoid another ice log rolling behind her. Once Stella finished her first performance, she bowed gracefully to her seemingly imaginary audience.

"Tres magnifique!..."She said proudly before she continued to skate on the ice.

To say that Danny was shocked to hear that would be an understatement. The ghost boy even felt a slight cold sweat when he heard Stella saying that this obstacle was less challenging than her old ice-skating training.

"I didn't know that she could do that..." Star commented, as her mother continued.

While Stella was in the middle of her ice-skating performance, she noticed that her dream was finally getting a little more exciting for her. Too exciting but she didn't seem to care. However, she did notice one of the nearby debris starting to fall around her.

"Mom?!..."Star yelled in concern.

Danny was about to go save her, only for Stella to gracefully skate away, not getting a single scratch on her. Though she couldn't say the same to her expensive scarf that was lost, though she paid no mind to it.

"Oh my, that was close. That nearly came close to cutting my totally fabulous outfit..."Stella said as she skated around some of the ice spikes.

"Although I suppose it would be much of a dream if there wasn't a little bit of suspense in it..."She added as she continued her skating performance.

Star was still speechless by what she just watched. She always knew that she was a great figure skater but this was amazing.

"Wow. If the old bat hadn't been such a controlling hag, Mom might have actually been a champ..."Star said, and Danny nodded in agreement.

Star's mother continued to show off some impressive, professional-looking ice-skating stunts as she maneuvered through the traps. Danny saw how Stella easily dodged all those traps and got an idea.

"Hey, Mrs. Be-...I mean...lady whom I have never met before!..."Danny shouted from across the icy landmass.

Stella briefly stopped.

"You can call me Stella, dream version of Danny Phantom..."The woman said as she continued to twirl on the ice.

"Right..."Danny said slowly. "Uh...just so you know...that chalice thing over there is actually a trophy. Whoever gets their hands on it...uh...wins the title of best skater here..."He said, while Star, Frostbite, and his fellow yetis sent him funny looks.

"What are you doing?..."Star asked.

"I'm playing along for now. We'll figure out the rest later..." Danny whispered back, trying to keep the illusion that this was all a dream to her intact for now.

No sooner when he said that, Stella gasped and looked excited.

"Really? Well, why didn't you say so earlier? If anyone is the best skater here, it's me. And I'll prove it!..."Stella said, her competitive side acting up.

She skated even faster on the ice to close the distance between her and first place before anyone else could.

"Wow. I wasn't sure that would work..."Danny muttered, as they all watched Star's mother perform a lot of graceful, yet fierce skating moves as she dodged the debris and traps and even skated on the walls as if gravity was just a suggestion and not a rule to follow.

"I told you I'd be great, Beatrice. You bitter old bat!..."Stella cheered as she did this and kept showing off her skills on the ice.

However, she was not the only one after the icy metal prize as Glaciar was also aiming to grab the chalice before a random yet admittedly talented human woman appeared. Stella paid him no mind and just continued to skate towards the chalice, which was almost within her grasp but all the chaos and debris caused it to be moved by accident.

"Oops. Looks like that little trophy get away from me for the moment..." Stella told herself, thinking that her dream is trying to play a game with her and she decided to play along.

Glaciar seemingly managed to skate passes her and was finally in range to grab hold of the chalice.

"It's mine!..."Glaciar shouted as he tried to reach for it.

However, Stella skated past him, at faster speeds, and sent him a cheeky grin.

"No way, it's mine!..."Stella said as she briefly stuck out her tongue at her opponent for first place in a competitive manner.

Stella was now spinning in midair, performing as many skating poses as possible with both elegance and grace within the few seconds she had and was the center of attention of everyone in the area.

Star's mother then landed perfectly on top of the ice, and was now face to face with her "prize". Stella, feeling victorious, was now leaning down she grabbed the chalice holding it above her head.

"I WIN! I TOLD YOU ALL THAT I'M THE BEST SKATER HERE!..."She cheered as she held the chalice like it was some trophy and felt proud of herself, even if this was only a dream from her perspective.

Once she was done, Danny, Star, and even Glaciar's jaws dropped at what they just witnessed, while Frostbite had an impressed look on his face.

"WHAT!?..."Glaciar yelled in absolute shock, as he watched the blonde woman skating past him with the chalice in her arms.

"Wow, your mom is really good..."Danny commented.

"Uh-huh..."Star nodded, still looking shocked and jaw-dropping.

Frostbite got up.

"Who is that woman?..."He asked.

"That's my mom..."Star explained.

"Well, now I see where you received your skills Lady Star. She is a truly great warrior on the ice..."Frostbite said, seeing that ice skating was a big deal to his tribe.

Soon every warrior ghost yeti had their eyes on Stella's performance, completely in awe at how she seemed to move around the ice as if she had done it for centuries, holding the chalice in her hands as she skated around in victory.

"Ha! Just like riding a bicycle. I still haven't lost my edge!..."The blonde woman said as she continued with her stunts.

"I admit, she is indeed impressive for a mortal. But I won't be outdone by a mere human in this!..."Glaciar muttered as he tried to keep by with Stella, both to get the chalice and to avenge his wounded pride.

Danny, Star, and Frostbite could only watch as Star's mother continued to skate fast through the ice, outrunning Glaciar and even doing a bit of showboating too as she practically gloated to him about how she won the "trophy" fair and square.

"Mom really can't resist showing off, especially when the spotlight is on her..."Star commented, and her mother continued to prove her point on the ice.

"Oh! What a blast from the past! This dream is almost exactly like my old ice-skating training routine, only far less challenging from back then!..."Stella casually commented.

To say that Danny was shocked to hear that would be an understatement. The ghost boy even felt a slight cold sweat when he heard Stella coming that obstacle less challenging than her old ice-skating training.

"What kind of routine training in ice skating did she do that makes any of this seem like fun in comparison? I don't train as hard and I HAVE SUPERPOWERS!..." Danny thought in worry, briefly recalling what he had gone through these past few days.

Just then, the barrier that had happened to contain Frostbite's warriors finally ended.

"FINALLY! When I get my paws on Glaciar, I'm gonna tear off his pelt and hang it in the great hall!..."One warrior shouted as they all rushed towards where their leader was.

"Chief!..."They all said, ready to receive his orders.

"I see that Glaciar's little toys lasted less time than I thought. Glad to see you all are free to join me in delivering justice to that traitor..."Frostbite said, feeling better now that the chalice was in safe hands.

All the while, Star's mother was now staring curiously at her "prize" now, unaware of what it really was or the true power that it possessed.

"Hmm...that little trophy reminds me of the very first award I won in one of the ice-skating tournaments I participated in. It wasn't first place, but I treasured it all the same. Hmm...I wonder if I'm supposed to do with this it now?..."Stella commented as she admired it.

Star was speechless for a moment before she snapped out of it. She recalled what they had to do and tried to call out to her mother.

"Mom! Give me the chalice!..."Star shouted, while her mother frowned.

"Now Star...even if this is a dream, what did your father and I tell you to say if you want something?..."Her mother said in a naggy way.

"Seriously? Now she talks about manners?..."Star thought with an eye roll before she did as her mother wanted.

"Please give me the chalice..."Star asked, and her mother smiled.

"Sure thing, Angel. I'll be right over..."Stella said cheerfully as she skated towards her daughter to give it to her.

However, before she could, a blast of ice was sent her way and hit her on the back.

"GAH!..."Stella exclaimed as she fell to the ground, being knocked out and dropping the chalice and it bounced to several feet away.

"MOM!..."Star yelled as she skated to check on her mother.

"Is she okay?!..." Danny asked in worry, while Star checked her mother.

"She's breathing, but she's been knocked out!..." Star said in concern as her mother was now unconscious.

The blast was from a furious Glaciar, who smirked.

"Pesky woman, I can see now where Phantom's mate gets it from..."He said cruelly.

Hearing that enraged everyone else here.

"You jerk! You're going to pay for that. I'm going to pull a Skulker and turn you into a rug!..." Star said, furious for what he did to her mother.

As physically exhausted as Star felt a moment ago, that was instantly ignored as all she felt right now was full-on rage at the villain who hurt her mother right in front of her very eyes.

"I'm going to use that weapon of his as a sledgehammer on his face!..." Star thought until Frostbite held her back.

"Lady Star, careful!..."The yeti chief warned before turning to his soldiers.

"Warriors of the far frozen, crush that traitor!..."Frostbite ordered his soldiers.

"Yes, chief!..."His warriors shouted as they tried to fire their weapons and ice attacks at Glaciar.

They needed to stop Glaciar from using the chalice, but it was too late.

"AT LAST! IT'S FINALLY MINE!..."Glaciar shouted as his aura blended with the chalice and soon something unexpected happened.

"Oh no!..."Danny said as things got worse.

And they did.

They watched as the power of the chalice was absorbed by Glaciar, who then proceeded to grow bigger and more unstable.

"NO!..."Frostbite gasped in horror, and his warriors watched in horror as they watched the power of one of their greatest treasures fall into the wrong hands.

"Oh, crud! Now what?!..."Danny said as he used his powers to protect Star.

All the while, Frostbite and his men prepared themselves for battle. Glaciar, on the other hand, looked smug as he decided to test his new power. Namely, by blasting at his enemies and Frostbite's soldiers.

"AHH!..."Shouts of pain came from Team Phantom, Frostbite, and his warriors as Glaciar laughed maniacally as he kept sending blasts.

"Star, look out!..."Danny said as he used his powers to protect her and the unconscious Stella.

Frostbite used his own power to try and protect his soldiers and keep the area from becoming even more unstable.

"Is everyone alright?..."Frostbite asked, concerned for the others.

"We are, thank you Chief Frostbite..."One soldier said.

"We're good..."Star said, though she was more concerned about her mom but thankfully she was still alive.

Frostbite was relieved, but his expression soon turned into anger that was now directed at Glaciar.

"Aw, how touching. I see that you still waste power trying to play hero to a bunch of lesser beings. Still as soft-hearted as ever, aren't you brother?..."Glaciar mocked, getting on his former friend's nerves yet again.

"Even with all the power you always wanted, you dared to try and strike against your own tribe and innocent beings! I see that you haven't changed at all!..."Frostbite said, while his warrior held their weapons, ready to strike.

"This has not been my tribe for a long time. But that changes now!..."Glaciar declared.

Frostbite continued to glare at him, while his arch-rival then stood dramatically, holding the chalice in his paw and emitting all of its power.

"I, Glaciar, the combination of what is truly superior of the Far Frozen, hereby challenge you, Frostbite...for the title of chief of the Far Frozen..."Glaciar declared, shocking everyone but Frostbite.

"Is he serious?!..."Danny and Star both exclaimed as they witnessed this.

They couldn't believe Glaciar expected to settle things like that. Glaciar looked smug as he began to challenge his "old friend", believing he finally had the advantage.

"What say you Frostbite? Do you accept my challenge?..."Glaciar asked, with a confident smirk as he was now imbued with some of the Chalice of Cold's power.

All of the Ghost Yetis fell silent at the sudden challenge for the position of Chieftain of the Far Frozen.

"Don't kid yourself you jerk! As if Frostbite would accept a challenge from someone who considers attacking someone from behind honorable!..." Danny yelled.

"That's right! If you're willing to stoop that low, then try fighting me, you gutless coward!..." Star also yelled, still furious for how he hurt her mother.

However, Frostbite stopped the both of them.

"No, lady Star. You and the Great One should tend to your mother. This is a battle I must fight alone now..."Frostbite said as he then did something unexpected.

Glaciar and Frostbite were now face to face, glaring at each other.

"Attacking an unarmed enemy with their back turned. You haven't changed at all..."Frostbite said in anger, referring to what he did to Stella.

"A clever warrior uses every advantage they have to win a battle..."Glaciar said smugly.

"And a TRUE warrior fights honorably. Something you still haven't learned even after all this time..."Frostbite said in disgust.

Glaciar gripped the ancient relic tightly in his clawed hand as he stared daggers at the current chieftain. When Frostbite did the same while he removed his chieftain cape.

"Regardless, it's my turn now, old friend! I finally have the power that I have always deserved! I HAVE THE POWER TO FINALLY ACHIEVE MY DESTINY!..."He yelled, grinning in a demented way, not unlike Vlad Plasmius.

"I see that you're still as deluded as ever, you demented traitor!..."Frostbite yelled at him.

"Oh, your words hurt me, old friend..."Glaciar said mockingly.

"Stop calling me that, you lost the right to that title long ago!..."Frostbite shouted, furious.

Glaciar kept smirking, as he decided now was the best time.

"Whatever...now...old friend...it seems that now is the time. The rematch that was always meant to be. I challenge you for the title of chief of the Far Frozen..."Glaciar said, feeling much more confident of his chances of victory with his strength now boosted because of the chalice.

"I accept..."Frostbite said, glaring at him.

Danny and Star gasped, shocked.

"Frostbite, what are you doing?! He has the chalice and it's giving him an edge! Plus, he's even standing a few feet taller than you now!..." Danny tried, but his friend stopped him.

"Great One. Some battles must be fought by oneself. You need not burden yourself with this fight..."The yeti chief said as he ordered his men to stay out of this.

The other soldiers did as they were told, as they knew the laws of their tribe. Any interference would only dishonor the challenged, the challenger, and themselves.

Frostbite and a now empowered Glaciar were now face to face again. Only this time, it was Glaciar looking down at Frostbite from a slightly taller height than his former brother.

"Let's finally put an end to this war of ours, Frostbite..."Glaciar said, fully confident that he will finally get his revenge.

"...I suppose it's about time that our long story together faced its last chapter. Thankfully, I've been ready for this day for a very long time..."Frostbite said, as he faced his once dearest friend, now his regrettable enemy on this challenged battlefield.

Glaciar continued to smirk in an overconfident way, his body still glowing with the chalice's power.

"Once our people knew us as the closest of brothers. Now with the power I now possess, the history of our people will forever know you as an obstinate fool clinging to the past who kept me and our people from the great and glorious age that I will lead them into!..."Glaciar declared.

The air around suddenly felt as if it got colder as both Glaciar and Frostbite stood still, waiting for the right moment to make the first strike. While both Danny and Star were silently wishing their friend the best of luck in this fight.

"Be careful, my old friend. History rarely looks kindly on its subjects, and you'll be no different!..." Frostbite said as his eyes glowed bright blue.

The two yetis charged at each other, ready to finish this fight once and for all.
