Chapter Sixteen - S.M.H Visits ReGloss

[Timeline 4 / May 11, 2021 - Hololive's manager training compound, 5th floor break room]
[Two hours before Amelia's group set off for Indonesia.]
*click*
ReGloss, Hololive's managers in training, have just completed a day of gruelling practice and have retired to the break room for a well... break.
The white haired girl walks inside and places her bag on a table in the break room. "Good job today guys."
[ Todoroki Hajime - "Banchou" ]
"Aaaahhh... my legs are crying..." The yellow haired singer sighs, and plops herself down on the couch.
[ Otonose Kanade - The Manager With an Angel's Voice ]
"I need a smoke." The girl says, walking to the break room's window and opening it.
[ Juufutei Raden - The Wild Trainee ]
"You really need to cut that out, it's seriously not idol like." The fashionable looking girl says disappointedly as her fellow trainee pulls out a pack of cigarettes and a lighter from her surprisingly large dress pockets.
[ Ichijo Ririka - The Standout ]
"But we aren't actual idols, so I think it's fine." The boyish girl responds casually as she relaxes on a chair next to the couch.
[ Hiodoshi Ao - The Handsome One ]
"But we're still a part of an idol company!" Ririka shouts, waving her arms in frustration. "Managers have to be pure too!" Hajime joins in, though she's less frustrated and more joking.
"Haha, if the leader says so then I guess it's true." Raden laughs, turning off her lighter and putting it and the cigarettes back in her impressively sized dress pockets.
*Knock*
*Knock*
*Knock*
Hard knocks suddenly come from the other side of the door, alerting the resting girls which causes them to quickly stand up and get ready for a confrontation.
"Ao, could you answer the door?" Kanade asks, as Ao is closest to the door. "Sure, I'll be sure to show them my signature hospitality." Ao readily accepts, walking to the door before opening it.
"Welcome, dea-"
[ Hoshimachi Suisei - The Enforcer ]
"Su- Suisei..." Ao exclaims fearfully, slowly stepping backwards in shock. "Relax, you're not the ones dying today." Suisei says as she walks into the room.
"Ehe... sorry for the intrusion." Haato akwardly apologises, squeezing past Ao and entering the room. "Yeah, sorry 'bout that." Miko says, patting Ao on the back as she follows Haato.
"Why are you all here?" Hajime asks anxiously, quickly raising her fists up to her waist as she sees the three chosen walk into the room. "Don't worry, we're here to protect you all from Laplus Darkness and escort you to the Universe's Courthouse." Suisei explains as she looks around the room, making sure each member of ReGloss is there.
"Protect us from Laplus Darkness?" Raden asks, a fresh, sneakily lit cigarette hanging from her mouth. "Yes, Kronii thinks that Laplus is targeting you." Suisei says, simultaneously fanning smoke away from her face. "Also, please put that cigarette out."
"Why would Laplus want to target us!?" Ririka asks worriedly. "There's no point in thinking about that. All we need to focus on is getting you all out of here as fast as possible." Suisei quickly dismisses Ririka's question as she walks up to Raden to snatch her smoke and throw it out the window.
"We should get going now." Miko says, opening the door for everyone. "That's right, we should leave before Laplus gets here." Suisei says, leading everyone towards the door.
But just before anyone can step a foot outside the room,
*Boom!*
The sound of an explosion comes from the halls outside. "Shoot! They're here!" Suisei remarks, reaching behind her back and grabbing her axe.
"Me and Miko will hold them off, the rest of you escape as fast as you can!" Suisei shouts before sprinting out of the room, with Miko following close behind.
"Oh! Looks like MiComet got here before we did!" Laplus laughs. She's accompanied by the rest of Secret Society X, hiding behind them by standing at the back of the group.
Suisei quickly glances behind her before responding. After confirming that ReGloss and Haato are evacuating, she turns to face Laplus.
"You're gonna pay for what you did to Sana." Suisei says hauntingly, pointing her axe at Laplus. "Don't be so mad Suisei, I technically didn't do anything yet." Laplus jokes, smiling devilishly as she taunts the vengeful girl in front of her. "Enough!" Suisei shouts, charging at the demon of knowledge.
Unable to contain her excitement, Iroha grabs her katana with trembling hands and rushes at her idol. "Suisei senpai is mine!"
*Clang!*
Sparks fly as Iroha's katana collides with the handle of Suisei's axe, both girls now locked in a struggle. "I don't have time to play with you Iroha!" Suisei shouts as she pushes her weapon against Iroha's.
"Take all the time you want, Hoshimachi Suisei. In the meantime, we have somewhere to be~." Laplus smiles, turning around and wobbling away.
"You're not going anywhere!" Miko shouts, quickly swiping her gohei to the side.
*Boom!*
A mass of vines erupt from the walls behind Laplus, blocking her path.
"Like I said, we have somewhere to be." Laplus says, snapping her fingers. Immediately, Koyori grabs a vial containing a green liquid from her belt and throws it onto the ground.
*Crash!*
*Sizzle*
The green liquid boils and swiftly melts the floor beneath them. "You got this from here, Iroha, Lui." Laplus salutes her comrades, and Lui steps forward, away from the crumbling floor. "Good luck, founder." She says, looking back at Laplus.
*Boom!*
The floor completely melts and Laplus, Chloe, and Koyori fall down with it, crashing into the level below.
"You're not escaping from me Laplus!" Suisei howls. She tries to rush forwards, but she's stopped by Iroha standing in her way. "I'm sorry Suisei senpai, but I can't have you getting in my master's way." Iroha says, drawing her sword and getting into an offensive stance.
"Iroha. Move." Suisei commands, the power in her eyes shining violently as she asserts her will. "Gulp. Like I said, I can't have you getting in Laplus sama's way." Iroha insists, nervously grasping her sword with sweaty palms.
"It's a shame, I really liked you Iroha." Suisei sighs as she leans forwards and covers her right eye with her hand on the same side.
[Timeline 1 / XX, 2018 - Outside Of Hololive's Japan office]
As Suisei levitates in the air, she looks down on her opponent below as her left eye emanates a bright light from its pupil. "You know, I created this attack specifically for you, but I haven't ever dared to use it against you."
"What, are you going easy on me?" Fubuki asks sarcastically as she looks up at her levitating opponent, slightly irritated at Suisei's apparent pitying of her.
"I wasn't going easy on you, I was sparing your life." Suisei says calmly before closing her right eye.
"Looks like you're done with sparing me." Fubuki jokes nervously as she gets ready to avoid any attacks that might come her way.
"It's a shame, you were an amazing rival, Fubuki."
"Kitsune." A blinding light erupts from Suisei's left eye, and Iroha quickly reacts by raising her katana in defence.
*Vwooom!*
*Craack!*
*Spluurt!*
But her defence is useless. Iroha's head, and everything else in a one foot radius around it is sucked into a miniature black hole like a vortex of water going down a drain.
After intaking air, blood, and anything else in its way, the miniature black hole then folds in on itself and disappears in an instant.
*Splat!*
Iroha's body falls limply onto the floor, forming a pool of blood that flows out of her neck.
"So that's the power of the space chosen." Lui remarks fearfully, looking at the headless body of her fallen comrade.
"You're lucky I'm saving the other one for Laplus." Suisei says, shutting her now bleeding left eye.
Wanting to gain the initiative before Suisei can attack, Lui sets the pace by quickly launching her whip at Suisei.
*Crack!*
But Suisei quickly blocks Lui's attack with her own weapon, the whip wrapping around the handle of her axe.
"Yeagh!" Miko grunts, waving her gohei and summoning a massive vine that flies at Lui.
*Thud!*
The vine hits Lui smack in the face, stunning her and causing her to spit blood.
Lui quickly untangles her whip from Suisei's axe as she steps backwards, but before she can retreat, Suisei kicks her in the stomach,
*Thud!*
Sending her staggering backwards.
Suisei tries to follow up her attack, but Lui keeps her distance with strikes from her whip.
*Crack!*
*Crack!*
Suisei avoids each attack, but she can't get closer to Lui. They're stuck in a stalemate where both of them don't want to be hit by the other.
"Don't forget about me!" Miko swings her gohei downwards, creating a giant vine from the ceiling.
*Boom!*
Lui swiftly dodges to the left while the vine crashes from the ceiling, then down into the floor. While Lui is still in her dodging motion, Suisei quickly runs towards her.
And after getting in range, Suisei swings her axe,
*Boom!*
Lui hastily ducks and avoids the axe, the weapon slamming into the wall instead of her.
Miko twirls her gohei above her, causing roots to sprout from the floor below Lui. The roots then quickly grow and coil around Lui's body, binding her firmly in place.
She tries to break free from the roots' hold, but the plant is holding on strong enough to withstand her struggle.
Taking advantage of Lui's unfortunate position, Suisei lines up her axe for an easy shot.
*Shlick!*
*Splat*
"Huff, puff." Suisei pants and looks down on the headless executive before slumping down to the floor.
"Suisei! Are you okay!?" Miko asks, running towards her friend. "Im okay... huff, just a little exhausted." Suisei says, taking deep breaths as she regains her energy.
"Let me heal up that eye." Miko says, holding the left side Suisei's face and wiping the blood from her shut eye.
"No, I can't let Laplus get away!" Suisei shouts, swatting Miko's hand away before quickly standing up. She staggers a little as she rises, the sudden stand having thrown her off balance.
"Suisei..." Miko utters softly as she looks at her friend worriedly. "I'm okay." Suisei smiles as the blood of two other girls runs down her face.
'I wish you were here, you were always good at stopping Suisei when she would act reckless.' Miko thinks to herself, clutching her gohei nervously as she watches Suisei run after Laplus.
[Timeline 4 / May 11, 2021 - Hololive's manager training compound, 2nd floor]
"The staircase to the first floor should be just around the corner!" Hajime shouts, running hurriedly.
She's stationed at the front of the group, leading the way as they traverse through the building. Haato is at the back of the group, making sure to spot any potential ambushes from Laplus.
The six girls quickly turn the corner, only to see Laplus, Chloe, and Koyori standing in front of them.
"Yo! ReGloss!" Laplus greets them carefully with a short wave. ReGloss and Haato are too surprised to respond, the girls instead deciding to take up defensive stances.
"Aw~ you're no fun!" Laplus groans, pouting in frustration. "Whatever! I didn't come here to play anyways!" Laplus says, her mood changing from frustration to indifference.
'What happened to Suisei and Miko? Why is Laplus here?' Haato thinks to herself as she slowly draws a playing card from her pocket, careful to not let Laplus see it.
"You all have a choice to make." Laplus says, pointing to each member of ReGloss and Haato. She raises her left hand, "Die a quick and painless death." Then she raises her right hand, "Or suffer an excruciating, slow, and gruelling death."
Laplus smiles devilishly. "The choice is yours."
Wasting no time, Haato runs past ReGloss, stopping right as she passes Hajime. She then throws the playing card in her hand, aiming for Laplus's head.
Laplus quickly raises her pointer finger up to her face. It's coated in a purple aura, the trademark look of her signature technique.
*Fwip*
The Atom Splitter cuts the card straight in half, altering the trajectory of the halves and making them fly past Laplus. "It seems you chose the second option."
Koyori reaches into her belt and grabs a vial with red liquid inside.
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGHHHHH!"
But before she can throw it, Kanade unleashes a sonic shockwave powerful enough to make the walls rumble.
*Crash!*
The shockwave destroys the vial in Koyori's hand, causing the liquid inside to spill on the floor.
As the red liquid sizzles on the ground, smoke rises from it and quickly spreads, filling the room with smoke.
"It was a smoke bomb!" Kanade shouts in suprise before covering her mouth and nose with both hands.
The rest follow Kanade and cover their noses and mouths as well, avoiding breathing in the smoke while they vigilantly look out for any suprise attacks.
"Ugh!"
"Argh!"
Ao and Raden grunt in pain, but the others can't see them past the thick smoke. They frantically try running towards the sound of their voices, but the smoke makes navigating too difficult.
Desperate to clear the veil of thick smoke around her, Kanade aims randomly and unleashes another sonic attack.
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGHHHHH!"
The powerful vibrations blow away the smoke and manage to hit Chloe, who was hiding in the smoke in front of her.
"RiI..#iIIIi..II#inG..." Chloe wobbles backwards. Taking Kanade's attack directly majorly disoriented her, filling her bleeding ears with a loud ringing while she struggles to balance herself after the fluid in her ears are disoriented.
Laplus quickly grabs Chloe by the jacket and pulls her backwards. "You do not wanna be standing around like that, Chloe."
As Kanade, Hajime, and Ririka rush to help Ao and Raden, Haato grabs a stack of cards from her pocket and braces herself to fight Laplus and Koyori.
"Laplus! I'm stopping you here and now!" Haato shouts, running towards Laplus while cocking back her wrist and fanning out her cards.
Koyori quickly charges at Haato and before Haato can throw her cards, Koyori intercepts her attack by stabbing her in the stomach with a syringe.
"What..." Haato mutters in suprise, holding her stomach and quickly dashing away from Koyori.
Haato watches the area of her stomach that the syringe pierced, the-
"Agh! Aaaaagh!"
The poison activates and quickly spreads across Haato's body, sending an excruciating pain through every vein as the poison attacks her system.
She writhes around on the floor in pain, flinging her limbs wildly as she struggles to endure the pain.
"Aaaagh! Aaaaahhh!"
"I told you, would you want a quick, painless death, or a long and painful one?"
"Aaaargghh! Fwaaaah!"
"And you picked the second one."
"Uuuugghh! Aaaarghh!"
"So don't blame Me if you regret your decision."
"Guuuh! Agh! Ugh!"
"But since I'm feeling very generous today, I'll give you a chance to change your decision." Laplus says, snapping her fingers at Koyori. She then grabs a black vial and carefully holds it up. "All you have to do is not move a single inch, and let Koyori's explosive completely disintegrate you."
"Urgh!" Haato grunts. She didn't hear a single word that Laplus said, all she could focus on was the pain.
"I'll take that as a yes." Laplus says, stepping backwards. She then gives the signal, and Koyori throws the black vial.
As the vial flies through the air, Laplus covers her ears and closes her eyes, bracing herself for the explosion.
...
...
...
Nothing. The loud explosion Laplus was expecting wasn't there, and the blast off heat and trembling floors that usually come with an explosion were absent as well.
Laplus quickly opens her eyes, wanting to see what happened to the explosive vial.
[ Hoshimachi Suisei - The Enforcer ]
"Hoshimachi Suisei..." The enforcer was standing right in front of her, emanating a bloodlust so strong that it was almost visible. The vial had also vanished, leaving not even a single shard of glass behind.
"You're dead, Laplus!" Suisei howls furiously, blitzing towards Laplus with an intense determination.
Chloe and Koyori move to protect Laplus, but they're intercepted by Hajime and Ririka.
"This is our win." Hajime tells Koyori confidently as she holds her down.
Suisei catches up to Laplus as she tries to escape and grabs her by her neck shackles. "You're dying now!" Suisei shouts wrathfully as she closes her right eye.
"You're wrong." Koyori smiles smugly. She pushes a dart hidden in her throat into her mouth and rests it on her tongue. "Ptooh!" She then spits out the dart, launching it at Suisei.
The dart swiftly flies through the air and eventually hits Suisei's neck. But she's too focused on vengeance to care about the dart, or whatever kind of poison it might be laced with.
"Kitsune." Suisei says, activating the attack in her left eye. Laplus writhes around as she struggles to escape, but it's all for naught.
*Cruunch*
*Splaat*
Laplus's head is completely sucked into the miniature black hole in an instant.
In the real world, Suisei is sleeping deeply on the floor after being knocked out cold by the tranquilliser's powerful effect.
"This is our win." Koyori says as she jams a syringe straight into Hajime's stomach, filling her with the same tranquilliser as the one in the dart that hit Suisei.
*Thud*
Hajime falls to the floor, and Koyori prepares another vial from her belt.
Noticing the vial in Koyori's hand, Miko quickly swipes her gohei to summon a large vine to attack Koyori.
*Boom!*
The vine grows from the wall to Koyori's left and spirals towards her. She reacts quickly and throws the vial in her hand at the large vine.
*Crash*
The vial shatters, spilling out all of the acid contained inside. The acid then quickly dissolves the vine and Koyori retreats.
Chloe swiftly dives down and swipes Ririka's feet with her weapon, the nunchuck like staff sweeping Ririka off of her feet and sending her falling down to the ground.
*Thud!*
"Argh!" Ririka shouts in pain as her back collides with the hard tile floor.
Chloe joins each of her weapon's three sections together, transforming the mop from a nunchuck like weapon into a staff.
She then reaches into a Swiss Army knife like compartment in her weapon's top most section and unsheathes a machete.
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGHHHHH!"
*Boom!*
But before Chloe can use it, Kanade launches a sonic attack that sends her flying into the wall behind her.
"Cough!, urp." Kanade holds her throat as blood spills out of her mouth. "Looks like we won't have to worry about anymore screams." Koyori remarks as she watches Kanade cough up a red river.
'Crap. Every member of ReGloss is suffering from heavy damage, and Suisei and Haato aren't in fighting condition. Chloe's also out of the fight, so that means... I'm up against Laplus and Koyori all by myself.' Miko thinks to herself as she cautiously watches Laplus and Koyori. "Gulp. Suisei, please wake up."
"It's about time that I get some action!" Laplus shouts excitedly as she runs at Miko. She's coated her fingers in her Atom Splitter, forming her right hand into a purple claw.
"Alright, guess I have to use my Elite Arsenal." Miko says nervously, holding into her gohei with shaky hands.
She completely stretches her arms outwards and rapidly spins her gohei, summoning a large flower in front of her. [Elite: Breath Of Life]
A powerful stream of vines, flowers, and leaves rushes out of the centre of the large flower and flies towards Laplus.
Laplus runs through and slashes the stream of nature with her Atom Splitter, completely ripping it to shreds. After getting in close, Laplus slashes Miko straight across the chest, slicing her torso in half. She explodes into a mass of cherry blossoms that fly a few meters behind Laplus. The petals then slowly form into the shape of a human before combining and morphing into Miko. [Elite: Petal Dance]
"Amazing! I wanna see what else you have in store!" Laplus shouts excitedly as she flexes her left hand to coat it in her Atom Splitter, forming it into a claw identical to her right hand.
"Take this!" Miko shouts, raising her gohei over her head before powerfully swinging it downwards.
*Boom!*
Multiple vines shoot out of the ceiling above Laplus and coil around each other, forming into a fist as they grow downwards.
*Crash!*
Laplus quickly dashes backwards, easily avoiding the giant fist. 'That was a basic attack, she's running out of energy.' Laplus smirks as she thinks to herself.
"Huff, puff." Miko pants, she's completely wiped. Being so far away from a shrine means that she's far away from her source of power.
'I could charge up with an incantation... no, there's no time for that. I'll have to put all my energy into one finishing move.' Miko considers, carefully watching Laplus and Koyori as she waits for an opportunity to counterattack.
Koyori grabs two vials from her holster with both hands. But before she can throw them, Miko grabs her gohei firmly and smashes it into the floor.
*Bwoosh!*
Roots suddenly sprout from the floor and wrap around Koyori's wrists and torso, completely immobilising her. They also wrap around Laplus, whose moved in front of the the giant fist vine. [Elite: Nature's Bind]
"Kuh! These roots are strong!" Koyori remarks as she struggles to break free from their grasp.
'The vines have completely locked my wrists in place, I can't even use my Atom Splitter.' Laplus gripes as she tries to move, only to not be able to budge a single part of her body.
Miko raises her gohei and points it at Laplus. She's breathing heavily, but she has a determined look in her eyes.
A cold sweat runs down Laplus's face. She's completely powerless, unable to move, forced to just watch and see what Miko will do.
*rattle*
Miko's gohei rattles as it falls to the floor. "That's it, I'm all out of energy." She'd dropped it, too tired to carry the thin wooden stick. And unable to support even her own weight, Miko falls to the floor.
*thud*
"Haha... HAHAHAHAHA!" Laplus howls devilishly as she looks at the fallen shrine maiden while the roots untangle themselves from her body and sink into the floor.
Laplus slowly walks to Miko and flexes her claws, smiling arrogantly as she trots forwards. "You really had Me going there, I seriously thought I was gonna die!"
"But it looks like you just couldn't finish the job!" Laplus gloats to Miko, the latter being too exhausted to run or crawl away.
"What a way to go! Your life ended with you almost killing Me! You should be proud, that's not an achievement many can boast abou-" Laplus taunts Miko before she's suddenly stopped by a force pulling on her heel.
"We're getting out of here, Miko." Suisei says as she weakly latches onto Laplus's foot. "Get off of Me!" Laplus shouts as she kicks Suisei's hand away from her heel.
"You're lucky that the tranquilliser's still affecting me, Laplus. Otherwise, your shoulders would be feeling a lot lighter by now." Suisei threatens Laplus as she looks up at the demon of knowledge. Laplus takes a step back, even while she's crawling on the floor, the Enforcer is still a threat.
"Don't get full of yourself Hoshimachi!" Laplus shouts frustratedly as she slashes at Suisei with her Atom Splitter coated hand.
But the only thing her hand makes contact with is the floor, as Suisei had completely disappeared.
"Tch, damn Tsukumo."
[Timeline 4 / May 11, 2021 - The Forest surrounding Hololive's Manager Training Compound]
Suisei leans on a tree and holds her right eye. It's bleeding, leaving a trail of blood trickling down her cheek.
"Hey, Miko. You okay?" She weakly asks her friend, who's lying face down on the grass, too exhausted to pick herself up off the ground. "I'm okay." Miko responds nonchalantly, raising a thumbs up high above her head.
Miko raises her face and rest it on her chin to avoid eat grass when she talks. "What about the others?" She asks, shouting her eyes side to side as she tries to look around without moving her head.
"They're okay." Suisei says, looking behind Miko to see Haato and ReGloss grouped together under a large tree.
Ao and Raden have recovered and they're tending to Kanade and Ririka while Hajime sleeps, still under the effect of the tranquilliser.
"Aaaagh! Urghh!"
Meanwhile, Haato is still affected by the poison. The poison takes about an hour to kill a normal person, and seeing as Haato is stronger than most normal people, she has at least more than an hour left before she's put out of her misery.
Seeing her friend in such a state motivates Suisei to get up and slowly walk towards Haato, who's resting on one of the tree's large roots.
"Urgh! Suisei..!" Haato grunts weakly as she sees the blue haired girl approaching.
Suisei crouches down to Haato's level and worriedly asks, "Are you okay!?" Haato meekly shakes her head no. "It hurts... so much." She says with laboured breaths and an agonised expression.
"What hurts?" Suisei asks as she frantically scans Haato's body. "Everything... Cough!" Haato coughs out blood and tries to catch it in her hands. But it's such a large amount that it overflows and spills on Haato's chest and a bit of Suisei's skirt.
"Please, just hold on for a while, Miko will fix you up when she recovers." Suisei pleads with Haato, giving an encouraging smile in an attempt to comfort her.
"It's gonna take hours for her to get better... and the poison's getting stronger every seco- cough!" Haato speaks, but is interrupted by another sudden coughing up of blood. "Please... make my pain go away." Haato asks meekly, trailing the side of Suisei's cheek with bloody fingers.
"I... I can't do that." Suisei refuses as tears start to form in her eyes. "You're the only one... I can ask. So please... end my suffering. It's what you're best at... right?" Haato pleads one last time, smiling sincerely as she requests the ending of her life.
"Is that really how you see me?" Suisei asks as tears now fully flow down her cheeks, washing away the blood Haato had smeared on the side of her face.
"Im sorry..." Haato apologises weakly, wincing in pain as she forces out each syllable.
Suisei grits her teeth, and with a heavy heart, she reaches her hand out to summon her weapon, all while smiling at her friend for one last time.

Hey, It's Yur3i again.
So, this was an interesting chapter. It was the first chapter where Ame wasn't in it whatsoever. The story of this chapter instead following my glorious quee- I mean, the deuteragonist, Hoshimachi Suisei.
It also marks the shounen-fication of HEIBGIDH as Suisei and Miko get their own crazy named attacks now. I've also decided that from now on, named attacks will be Capitalised and boldened. So instead of the atom splitter, we know have the Atom Splitter.
And about the Kitsune and Tsukumo, the attacks stored in Suisei's left and right eyes respectively, I think you can tell where I got the inspiration for them from (*cough* *cough* Naruto *cough* *cough*).
And if you're wondering, "Why didn't Suisei use the Kitsune or Tsukumo against Cthullu?" You can think of the in-universe explanation yourself, but I'm gonna be completely transparent with you and say that it's because I haven't thought of them yet. Chapter eleven was two months ago okay!? A lot of ideas can form in two months.
