TICK TOCK TANGO; Part One

So, we know Slade as the master puppeteer in Tt03, but what if there was no time to be Red X, if Slade was Deathstroke and not as interesting as we see him – only he gets interested later when Dick throws his words around too loosely. Find out!

First year with Plasmus; only Plasmus got out on his own and Cinderblock freed himself from a holding cell. Or did he? Slade gets involved but not until after things cool off. Find out that too?

Jump City wasn't a dump like Gotham. Not as busy even as Star or Metropolis. After he'd decided to relocate his base under the radar, Slade Wilson saw a shift the day the alien known as Starfire had crash landed into town. He'd been woken to that mess and even reconsidered doing some snooping of his very own. His city? No. It belonged to those brats as he sat in a big arm chair and read the news off of his tablet in silence. "William." Slade called from by the next room over, "What is the forecast for this week. Do you know?"

"I heard a bit of rain is expected." Will moved with the tact of a butler. Even if this was a job he didn't particularly hate, he owed the man who had saved him countless times on their misadventures.

"The Titans could get cocky. They are teenagers and like my son, I don't trust what they do to show it. Ready the car, Will." Slade put down his tablet and turned it to sleep mode. "We're going out on a drive."

/

"Cinder block never looked so good." Grinned Bb as Cy dusted his hands and never had to wonder if the two; Plasmus and CBS, were just angry monsters with people under toughened wounds. "Cy, I need to talk to you." Robin, the spiky haired leader of the team, called over his jest friend with a wicked smile. "I think we can work on improving that move, together. Wanna give it another whirl?"

"I sure do, but first I'm waiting for the girls to give us an update on the drop off to the prison for CB and Plasmus. They got it good this time. He almost had me fooled!"

"A new bad guy wasn't always in the cards, but what the heck." Robin shrugged as Cy agreed, so they waited. The tower was peaceful right now, while out in the city Raven and Starfire were just coming back from levitating those massive feats into their cages. "I do hope the justice system o. Your planet can help to heal those two. They were once…people, correct?"

"One is, the other is a modern day golem. Created by science. No brain unless it does what someone tells it to." Raven explained. "Plasmus is the man we sa w in that chamber. If he stays asleep, the can find a cure. I hope…"

"As do I…many meta children should not have to go through and witness such subjugation by those meant to do good in your society. That can be said of any nation in the known quadrant sphere." Starfire spike of peace. Yet prison sentences in cells that secure were meant to be a forever home most of the time. Metas were not easy to see to, and if any of their friends or other future heroes ever fell into such a bad spot, it would mean the Titans breaking in to see to the damage.

Raven floated on by the docks and went to reach for her red responder; a device on her cloak that could activate a way into the tower from across the bay by technology her friends had invented. "We can rest easier, they are safe and the boys are no longer fighting each other." Raven said as she touched the piece of her cloak and allowed them a way back, flawlessly.

Had that been, because someone did spot it.

Like a fly on the wall, Slade was a hunter. And hunters from those rooftops, did not miss a single dance of daylight across their eyes.

"Did the meet up go alright?" Robin asked his team as soon as Raven and Star had come back them in one piece. "It was, most depressing to see the inside of Plasmus's temporary home. I believe it best to send him a get-well card and –

"Ah…. dudes?"

Raven looked over Bb's shoulder as the rest did the same.

Dashing as he wasn't in real like, Deathstroke wasn't fond of those trying to take his turf over so quickly. Crossed arms and a lax pose against the hall door where he'd slipped by, Robin motioned to the heroes.

"Who is he? A rogue gallery villain?" Bb gawked at this man's armor. (Using the rejected Glen Murakami sketch with orange and black and silver bronze look.)

"Hello, you must be my neighbors from down the way. The door was opened, so assumed someone could discuss some personal matters regarding your tower."

"He doesn't look like a Jehovah…" Bb trimmed by whoever this imposing crooked man was. His armor was plated in brass and nearly orange atop a black full body piece. He wasn't one to mess message with as Robin got the impression that this man would not take no for an answer.

"Is this man here to deliver today's mail?" Starfire asked her senior who had to redesign the security- even after their successes in the past. Even since the heroes had fully become aware of what the people needed. "You're trespassing, whoever you are. This is a –

"Not open to the public? Typical of heroes in any situation. I'm just here to give you a small reminder of who was here first before you kids decided to play cops and robbers in this city."

Cy was annoyed enough as his mouth went off without even blinking. "Look, whatever you're saying isn't gonna matter. We came and we already made sure to help out when nobody was here to defend this city, a'ight? So we can't back out, even if you got a little jealous-

"HA!" The man scoffed with a grin behind his eye. "Jealous? Is that where your wit went to, Cyborg? I know you; a reject experiment later and the Justice league rejected your application. And you three; an alien, a cambion witch and a mutated boy with nothing good to add to that package. And lastly, You." Slade sneered as he pulled out a flash disk and readied his watch. T – minus and he was going to get his dues.

"Robin, Gotham secondary to the bat and nothing but an exiled problem in my eyes. The bat told you to leave due to your foul attitude, maybe you didn't keep up with him as well as he'd ex –

"That's not your business to know anything. Sir…you have to go." Dick growled, his fists and rage entertaining to watch. But, alas.

~ I don't intend to watch you struggle and stumble wildly through your adolescence, boy. I'm only here to earn you. My city, my rules. And you just broke rule one right from day one….~

Slade let the disk fly as the heroes shielded themselves with magic and the weight of their mini egos.

"Dude's in the tower. He can't a gotten far." Cy watched as Dick never even halted but bolted after their mystery "neighbor" in record time. "Robin!" Starfire followed along, followed by Bb and Rae as Cy did a scan to get the security up and running. "No way…he shut it all down??"

/

Slade was a tactical God. He could turn Cy's work to the consistency of Star's pudding of sadness if he so wished to. Slade dove down the hallways and saw something that caught his eye.

Time to spook some teens for breaking that rule he'd never listed properly.

Never imprint fear when there was already a general shouting orders to his troops. Cinderblock was his problem to fix, yet Plasmus was an accident always.

Stay off, away from his people. And nothing could go wrong.

/

Dick knew from the streets of Gotham that crazies existed from all walks. Almost a hybrid of human fear, deception, loathing and malice, this man seemed like trouble already.

"He's in the common room –

"Wah??!" Bb stopped with his super sniffer and found that to be a false lead. "Does this guy carry pheromone blockers in his pockets?? Come on!!"

"We searched high and low for this invader of our home." Starfire stated to her ill-advised teammate. "What more can we hope to find if this man alludes us at every which way and corner?"

"No one is letting him go yet." Dick told her as he held his rangs in hand, ready to strike.

"Raven, can you sense anything. A pulse or his, aura…" He was reluctant to bring that up as she tried harder than anyone to see why he was not easy to track. "He's…. it's like this person is blocking my attempts. He could know magic-

"Or he could be using a relic of some capable design for such a feat. On my home world, the " Striktulah" are fortune tellers of such a craft and all-knowing women who descend from the Goddess X'al of my people of Tamaran."

"Even so, we can't keep this up. Cyborg, how is the recovery of the tower's systems –

~ Optimal, on my end anyway. ~

Raven looked at the main room's screens as they all lit up. A face of a Chibi sized mask like the man was wearing, orange and a steel to black, was his M.O.

"Oh….no way." Bb gulped as the others rushed to see what was next and in store for them.

~ Disarm my little welcome present and I'll gladly be happy to get out of your hair. If not…say goodbye to your home. Anything that remains, will come directly into my back pocket. ~

Cy came through the doors with his mouth gaping open as a dying fish. "That dude's way outta line right now… Rob! We gotta disarm a bomb ! This man is just…. nuts –

~ Am I, Titans? You had to come here of your own accord when nothing was wrong at all. Not until little miss sunshine crash - landed into this city and left nearly a moon sized crater imprinted in the roads, months of damage that you couldn't pay out of your tax dollars! What can you do? Do we have to clean up after your wannabe leaguers for the rest of our days? Are you going to fall to ruin and push the boundaries of your protection plan on to those who never needed it in the first place?? You drove the chaos here, not me. ~

"YOU'RE WRONG." Dick growled at the now as they saw it, a mad man. "A bomb won't solve your city's problem, and we didn't land here on purpose. It happened, and monsters always attacked this city whether you're willing to forget what humans and other lifeforms do – they clash and connect. But if you'd rather use your resources sir, to blow us up instead of be a hero, then by all means."

Dick crossed his arms; Cy was on the clock and if his words got through…

~ You call your little wise crack, clever? With the bat, at least you made an interesting impression. Good luck disarming your last pity from anyone that knows it, heroes. I'll be waiting to collect the spoils and to throw your corpses into the bay you've sullied with your big ideas. ~

I made it feel ike the first time Deathstroke confronted the Titans – my hope is that is is comical as well as action packed it's own way. Ahh…. night everyone! Next is part two. Will they end up converting this mad ball of hell fire in time to save their city?
