"What do you dream about?"

Randy's question caught the other four teens at the lunch table off guard. "What?" Cheyenne reacted with incredulity. "Are we supposed to answer that?"

"Yeah, man," he replied. "Like, I dream of becoming a quarterback for the Ravens. You know how I've been training every day at the field and at Cheyenne's house?"

"Yes," Diana said, "you keep posting about it on Twitter."

"And Instagram," Michelle added.

"And Facebook," Crowe continued.

"Well, that's where I want to go!"

"Honestly," Michelle said, "I don't care about football. What I dream about is becoming a jazz musician. You remember, right Cheyenne?"

"Yeah. Since the fourth grade."

"I'd like to work with robots," Crowe said. "Ones that can build all sorts of stuff. Like tools." He pulled out his phone and showed a picture of a robot from a competition in another country. "I'd like to compete. And I want to make robots that can do my homework."

"For me," Diana announced, "I'm dreaming of becoming a fashion designer. I want to make outfits in Paris or Milan, because I think I fit over there much better."

"And you, Cheyenne?" Randy asked her.

"Me?"

"Yeah."

"Well, I plan on going into politics."

Michelle eyed her warily. "Politics?"

"Yep."

"Like what, mayor?" Crowe asked.

"Higher."

"Governor?" Diana guessed.

"Higher."

"Oh, don't tell me you want to be President of the United States," Michelle said with dismay.

Confidently, Cheyenne rebuffed her tone. "Why not? I could be president."

The others looked at her. Diana took a deep breath and responded, "Yeah, I don't think you can."

"Why not?"

"I don't know," Crowe said. "I just get bad vibes from you."

"Whoa, there, Crowe," Randy interrupted. "That's my BFF we're talking about here! I think she would make a great president."

"Thank you, Randy!" Cheyenne replied.

"Oh, we're dealing with a sycophant, here," Diana noted with chagrin.

"I'm sorry, you have something to say about me, Di?"

The bell rang, putting the entire discussion on ice. The other students in the cafeteria stood up and headed to class.

"Oh, this isn't over," Cheyenne said rather bitterly as she and Randy stood up and headed for class. "Randy! Escort me!"

"Yes, ma'am!"

As they walked away, Michelle, Diana, and Crowe sat there on the table. Michelle buried her face in her hands. "What is wrong with that family?" she lamented in exasperation.

I decided to add a little tension to Michelle and Cheyenne's dynamic. Though I'm pretty sure they're there already, just waiting to be unearthed.

For Randy, I decided to take a few subtle cues from the character FootKicker from Hamster & Gretel, a guy who enables FistPuncher's toxic behavior by being a lapdog, which seems fitting for a guy who's a right-hand-man to an authoritarian person.

Diana is a person that Michelle hangs out with, as revealed in "The Rise and Fall of the Green Poncho". I decided to identify her with the girl with dyed blonde hair sitting on the steps of Cheyenne's house in "Capture the Flag Part 3: The Legend". Crowe is a name I thought up for the boy who's sitting on the porch's ledge (I think that's what they're called?).
