"And the award for Best Actor goes to…"
The awards host paused, checked the note before him and read out the name of the actor he was about to present the trophy in his hand to.
"SHADOW THE HEDGEHOG!"
At once, the entire building erupted with cheers and applause. People stood up from their seats as they clapped for the winner who had just been announced. They truly felt he was more than deserving of the award he'd earned for his performance in his motion picture debut.
Over at his table, Shadow stared towards the house who'd announced his name. The frown on his face didn't show the slightest look of delight that he'd just won an award for his role in Sonic's newest movie. Not even the remarks made by his fellow cast members could raise a smile to the dark hedgehog.
"Way to go, Shadow!" Sonic cheered.
"You won a movie award!" Tails cried.
"Not bad for your first time acting!" Knuckles chuckled.
"No way!" Eggman hollered, outraged. "Shadow's only been in three of your movie, Sonic, while I've been in all three! How come I haven't won a single award!"
"'Cause no one cares about seeing you on the big screen, Egghead!" Sonic snickered. "Everyone wanted to come see Shadow - which I knew would make us big bucks at the box office!"
"No fair!" Eggman sulked. "There should be an award for 'Best Evil Genius', I'd win that!"
Over in his seat, Shadow remained in his seat, his arms folded and one leg crossed over the other. He didn't make a move to go up onto the stage to claim his award. He just stayed where he was as he listened to the building being filled by the noise of crowds chanting his name.
"SHADOW! SHADOW! SHADOW!"
"Come on up, Shadow!" The host bellowed into his microphone. "Come up here and get your award!"
Shadow didn't movie.
"Go on, Shadow!" Sonic urged. "Everyone's waiting for you to step onto the stage!"
Shadow turned towards the other hedgehog, narrowing his eyes. "And why should I go up to make a show of myself for these people?"
"Because they all loved seeing you in the film!" Tails explained. "They wanna see you claim your movie award you've rightfully won."
"Hmph!" Shadow grunted.
"You've already preformed for people to see you on a big screen!" Knuckles reminded him. "Doing it on a stage in front of them won't be much different!"
Shadow remained seated.
"Just think, Shadow; everyone's here to see you, not Sonic!" Eggman added slyly. "Doesn't it sound nice to get to, shall we say, overshadow him!"
"Hey!" Sonic hollered. "I know everyone was eager to see Shadow in the movie, but I'm still the star, Egghead!"
"For now…" Eggman snickered. "Don't be surprised if Shadow gets offered plenty of big Hollywood roles and wins lots of movie awards in the future while you get forgotten!"
"I'll never be forgotten! I'm Sonic the Hedgehog!"
"SHADOW! SHADOW! SHADOW!"
Shadow decided he'd had enough of being pestered. He decided he'd go up and claim his award if it meant pleasing everyone in this building. He got up from his seat and raced up onto the stage. The crowd cheered even louder as he stood in the spotlight that was cast onto him. They were able to see just how dressed up for this occasion he was in his tuxedo that went nicely with his dark fur.
"Congratulations, Shadow." The host beamed as he held the trophy out towards him. "You really proved yourself to be an exceptional performer in Sonic's newest movie. I think all your fans can agree this award should go to you!"
The crowd yelled out again, cheering in their agreement.
Shadow took the award, holding it closely to examine it. It was shaped like a hedgehog in a golden colour, looking just like he did whenever he transformed into Super Shadow. It was shinier than all seven Chaos Emeralds put together. Sealed to its base was a plaque which had some words engraved to it.

Shadow stared at his prize, then looked out towards the audience again. They were still cheering loudly and yelling his name at the top of his lungs. They were all as excited to see him on the stage as they had been to see him on the big screen.
"Is there anything you'd like to say?" The host asked, stepping away from the podium.
Shadow remained where he was, the spotlight still cast upon him. He was continuing to observe the crowd as they cheered for him. They were all eager to hear him make a speech as they kept yelling his name.
"SHADOW! SHADOW! SHADOW!"
There was only one thing Shadow could think to stay. Still clutching his award, he stepped up to the podium. The crowd's cheering grew louder as he stood behind the microphone, which he used to say what he had to say.
"SHUUUUUUUT UUUUUUUP!"
The crowd's cheering grew instantly went silent. Every smiling face in the room vanished to be replaced by looks of shock and astonishment. All in the audience were stunned to be told to shut up by Shadow. Even his co-stars were bemused. It was not what any of them had been expecting him to say in his moment where she should have felt proud.
"Hmph!"
Satisfied that he had managed to get everyone to be quiet, Shadow raced off the stage. Everyone watched in their bewilderment as the dark hedgehog headed out of the building, taking his movie award with him as he made his exit.
For a moment, silence filled the entire room.
Nobody clapped. Nobody cheered.
Everyone was taken aback by the dark hedgehog's outburst.
"Well…" Sonic remarked, breaking the silence. "That wasn't cool of Shadow!"
"He wins an award and gets lots of love from his fans," Tails uttered, "and that's the thanks he gives?"
"So ungrateful of him!" Knuckles muttered, clenching a fist.
"Maybe…" Eggman sneered. "But at least he's still overshadowed you, Sonic!"
"Shut it, Eggface!"
Shadow pulled his motorcycle up outside his house. He switched the engine off and put it away into the garage before heading intently into his living room.
As he stood in his lounge, Shadow looked at his mantelpiece. He saw had an empty spot right in the middle. It was the perfect place to put what he'd just brought home from him.
Shadow held up his hand. He was still clutching the movie award. His red eyes narrowed as he looked over it, taking in how it glistened and shined. To think this was what he'd won for his performance in Sonic's newest movie. It had taken the dark hedgehog a lot of persuasion to get him to act in front of some cameras - and this was what all his hard work had earned him.

Shadow looked at his award for a little longer, then put it in the middle of the mantelpiece. He took a few steps back, keeping his gaze fixed to it as he raised his other hand - which was clutching his gun!
With his finger curled around the trigger, Shadow's eyes glinted as he aimed his weapon at his movie award - and fired.
The movie award exploded into pieces as it was struck by the bullet. Thousands of gold bits flew up into the air to rain down all over Shadow's lounge. He'd completely destroyed the prize many actors would've given their right arm for - and he didn't regret his actions in the slightest.
"Hmph!" Shadow muttered, pleased with himself. "I'm more than the best actor; I'm the Ultimate Lifeform! I'm Shadow the Hedgehog!"
