Chapter 37: Royal Flush Pt 1
Sonic and Mina are at the airport to get into the Tornado to head off to the Acorn Isles set in the Pearl Sea which was once called the Caribbean Sea in the ancient human past. "Going back home. I haven't seen South Island since I was 13 years old," Sonic said.
"I remember all the news reports talking about a certain handsome hedgehog being a big hero who saved South Island and Westside Island along with Angel Island. So strong, so dashing, and so smooth," Mina said in a passionate tone with her eyes getting starry-eyed.
"I was just doing the right thing and beating back Eggman but then people looked at me like a hero for saving three islands from his control," Sonic said as he remembered the pain of seeing his home being turned into a wasteland by Eggman.
"Yeah, and you inspired people with your boldness and kind heart. I was one of them. I saw you on the holoscreen saving people and destroying those Badniks. I fell deep in love with you and touched my heart with all your heroics," Mina said acting like a fangirl.
"Well, let's get going," Sonic said as they went into the tornado to fly off into the sky to head for the Acorn Isles. "Time for a homecoming," Sonic thought as they blasted off toward their chosen location.
Elsewhere Sally, Bunnie, Gregory, and Naugus are in an old abandoned Eggman base on South Island called Scrap Brain. "I must admit, this place has seen better days," Naugus said.
"Yes, this was Eggman's first base of operations in the Kingdom of Acorn. There was a big war between my kingdom and the Eggman Empire a while ago. Eggman took over some of the outlining islands to launch attacks on the Kingdom of Acorn but there was a certain female hedgehog that gave Eggman hell 18 years ago before she disappeared on a mission," Sally said.
"But then 9 years ago, a young hedgehog appeared on South Island and defeated Eggman for the first time which allowed the kingdom's forces to reclaim South Island," Bunnie explained.
"This is quite different from my world," Naugus said.
"Yes, then after a year. This hedgehog along with a young fox cub managed to defeat Eggman and his giant Death Egg. After that Eggman and his forces were cleared out and peace returned to these isles until I launched my Freedom Fighters against the new king my brother Elias," Sally said as she sat down on a chair to look over her charts of the nation and its island.
"I have my Cockatrice ready on standby along with the Egg Carrier MK2 to aid in the assault of Mobotropolis," Naugus said.
"of course. My brother will regret collaborating with humans," Sally said as she has a distaste for humans.
"You seem to dislike humans?" Naugus asked.
"Of course, they are not to be trusted. They made that ADAM monster as well," Sally said as Naugus can sense the dislike for humans is very strong in the princess.
"So, you want to prevent your brother from joining the United Federation because of your distrust for the human race?" Naugus asked.
"Yes, we must be on our own and live that way. They have been that way since this kingdom was formed," Sally said as she was stubborn about it.
"I agree with the Princess, those humans always seem to be up to no good," Greggory said
"Of course," Bunnie said as she felt very uneasy from that powerful dark monster. "Time to raid that capital and put your brother's head on a pike," she said to adjust her arm cannon preparing for battle.
"Time to go to break down the shield wall," Naugus said as they all prepared to fight the Kingdom army.
Back with the couple can hear the radio being hailed by the Kingdom's airport tower. "Sonic Hedgehog, we are expecting you. Our King will meet with you when you touch the ground," the air traffic controller said on the radio.
"Alright, better layout the red carpet," Sonic said as he began to descend towards the ramp to connect and slowly begin to park.
The young king is awaiting them by the limo as he looks at the bright red Tornado. "Just like in the stories," he whispered as he was getting excited to see the worldly hero and his famous girlfriend.
Sonic and Mina arrive to see Elias who is a brown-furred Mobian squirrel donning a blue military uniform, a golden crown on his auburn colored hair, and black boots with a sword sheathed on his back.
"Greetings Sonic and Mina. I am King Elias Acorn of the Kingdom of Acorn at your service," Elias said.
"That's a mouthful," Sonic said as Mina tapped him on the shoulder.
"Sonic, be respectful. He is a king," Mina said.
"Don't worry, I don't mind if you are more casual," Elias said.
"Good, I hate being stuffy with people," Sonic said.
"You are here to find out more about your mother right?" Elias asked as Sonic nodded his head. "Come in, we are going to the castle in the middle of town," Elias said as they got into the limo to go onto the streets to head for the castle.
"Tell me, what do you know about her?" Sonic asked.
"Well, she was a very capable soldier. She is one of my father's best and she was a part of a Special Force unit under his command. Her speed and wit were her best weapons very similar to your own," Elias said as Sonic's mind was filled with curiosity,
"Wow, she collaborated with the former king as one of his best soldiers. She was fast like me?" he asked.
"Yes, she has always been sent on high-profile missions to aid in the defense of the kingdom. She is brave and kind as they come," Elias pulls out his smartphone to show him a photo of her in a combat suit looking very capable.
"Wow, she looks so badass in that bodysuit with all the camouflage and gear all over," Mina said sounding very impressed.
"We will speak more later but you need to get more comfortable. You will be my guest in the castle," Elias said as Sonic and Mina looked outside to see the vastness of Mobotropolis which sees the best of Mobian cities with a mix of high technology and high respect for nature intertwined in a perfect blend making it a sight to behold.
"Wow, this is so beautiful King Elias," Mina said.
'Why thank you, my father wanted to use the latest in clean energy while maintaining our roots in nature. It's one of the most beautiful cities on Mobius," Elisa said as they saw the castle on top of a hill with the whole city covered in a shield barrier maintained by the stone walls around the capital.
The limo comes into the gate to head outside the big doors of the castle. "Pretty fancy," Sonic said.
"Yeah, it's huge like out of a fairy tale," Mina said as Elias was greeted by two people.
"Dear, you are okay. There are rumors about the rebels making a pass on the city," the queen said.
"Don't worry, we should have seen it coming a mile away. Sonic and Mina, this is my wife, Megan Acorn," Elisa said as Megan does a bow to her honored guest.
"Thank you for showing up, it's a great honor to know such big heroes on Mobius have come to our little kingdom," Megan said as they noted her appearance being a slender brown-furred Mobian squirrel in her early 30s who is sporting a lovely orange dress, white shoes, and golden crown on her long chocolate brown hair.
"I used to live here a long time ago but it's a homecoming," Sonic said.
"My daughter loves your music, Mina, she jams to it very often," Megan said as Mina felt humbled by this.
"Oh, that is so sweet to know, I would love to meet your daughter," Mina said.
"She will be so excited to see you," Megan said as Sonic met with a tall rotund walrus wearing a bomber jacket and a pair of goggles on his head.
"Yo, the great Sonic the Hedgehog has graced me with his presence," the walrus said lightly.
"He is the royal mechanic; he is the best with machines and tech in the whole kingdom. He has been a personal friend of mine for many years," Elias said as Sonic shook Rotor's large hand.
"Yo Ro, good to meet you," Sonic said.
"The pleasure it all my, you are quite the local hero after what you did on Westside Island and South Island so many years ago," Rotor said.
"Really?" he asked.
"Yeah, you and your mother have done some major good for this kingdom. You in recent years aided the kingdom without even knowing it," Rotor said.
"What does that mean?" Sonic asked.
"I will tell you over dinner, you two must be very hungry," Elias said as he prepared the dinner for his guests. "Relax a bit, I will show you your room when you stay here at the castle," he said as Rotor and Megan split up to get ready for dinner.
The King leads them to the guest room which is pretty well stocked and nicely decorated. "I hope this is to your liking?" he asked.
"Wow, this place is killer," Sonic said.
"I know right, it's like we are living like royalty," Mina said.
"Rest up, we are going to have dinner tonight and discuss your mother," Elias said as Mina bounced on the fluffy bed.
"So soft," Mina said as Sonic looked outside the window to see Mobotropolis feeling a sense of familiarity.
"Why does this feel so nostalgic, I don't remember this but it's aching in the back of my mind," Sonic thought as Mina placed her hand on his back.
"Sonic, chill out for a bit and all your questions will be solved," Mina said.
"I hope so," Sonic said. Within the hour, Elias takes Mina and Sonic to the dining room to see Rotor, Megan, and the royal couple's 5-year-old daughter Alexis.
"Oh my gosh, it's the Songoose," the young girl sporting a bright smile. I can't believe she showed up," Alexis said as Mina looked over to see a little Mobian squirrel girl with her long bushy tail twitching with excitement at her favorite pop idol.
"Hey there little one, you are a big fan of my music?" Mina asked as the little girl jumped up and down.
"Yes, it's amazing. I love your song Diamond in the Sky. It's very sweet," Alexis said as she sat beside Mina wanting to hear her favorite song for her.
"Don't bother miss Mongoose," Meg said as Alexis was a bit sad.
"It's okay, I will sing you a little tune for a bit," Mina said as the little girl was overjoyed with Sonic, Rotor, and Elias talking about the past and the present.
"Well, where do I begin with this? A long time ago, your parents used to live here in the city of Mobotropolis. They served my father being part of the Royal Special Force under the orders of the king himself. There was a short rebellion back then and your father was killed shortly after with Bernadette still pregnant with you," Elias said as Sonic's eyes widened.
"I used to live here when I was a baby?" he asked as Elias continued.
"Yes, she raised you here by herself and still served my father bravely with her super-speed and weapons training in blades and guns. She became the best soldier to ever grace the royal army and perform dangerous missions for him. Then something weird was going on, a mysterious force appeared on South Island by the sea. She sent you to an orphanage headed by her friend Ms. Buckbeak and went missing to find this mysterious force," Elias said.
"Who was it?" Sonic asked.
'Who do you think it is?" Elias asked as Sonic's eyes widened with anger at this.
"Eggman," Sonic said as Elias snapped his fingers.
"Bingo, at the time. No one knew who Doctor Robotnik was but he is connected to her disappearance," Elias said.
"Seriously, why does that egghead always piss me off even when he is dead," Sonic said feeling quite upset by this.
"Yes the ghost of Robotnik seems to be haunting us like that ADAM AI not too long ago," Elias said as he pulled out his phone to show him a holographic record of the events that happened 18 years ago. "She was sent on a completely secret mission and now that she has been missing in action for that long. The best thing to do is to go to the old Eggman base and track down the records within the database," Elias said.
"So, why can't you get it yourself with the army?" Sonic asked.
"Well, South Island and Westside Island are under the control of the rebels under my sister and it's tightly fortified. She is no fool and has set up a big defense grid on it. Also, the Scrap Brain base is now their new HQ. For you to get answers for your mother's disappearance, you need to help us win this war," Elias said as he stretched his hand to give him a handshake to solidify their working relationship.
"Alright, we are in this together," Sonic said as Elias smiled at this to grab his hand.
"Good, you will be a hero remembered throughout our kingdom's time just like your mother was," Elias said.
"If that is the case then why did your files on her remain classified?" Sonic asked.
"Well, we don't want to cause a panic of losing a national hero like Bernadette in times of crisis. We honored her service with a statue in the Court of Heroes. You should check it out when you have the chance," Elias said as their dinner arrived. "Dinner has arrived, I managed to have the chefs cook up some chili dogs for your liking," Elias said as he handed him a plate of spicy chili dogs. Sonic is looking impressed by this.
"Kingly, you're alright," Sonic joked.
"Well, I have a feeling this is the beginning of a wonderful partnership," Elias said as he took his glass of wine with Sonic doing the same giving a toast.
The dinner is getting underway with Mina finished singing a song for the young princess as she claps happily. "That was so nice Miss Mina, thank you," Alexis said as Mina nodded her head to be happy to cheer up the young girl.
"No problem, when does your birthday come up?" Mina asked.
"Oh, her birthday will be coming up very soon within the mouth," Megan said.
"Oh, that's pretty cool. I would like to come and do a birthday concert after all this mess is over," Mina said as Alexis jumped for joy.
"This is going to be so awesome," Alexis said as Megan is giggling at the cuteness happening here.
"I would love to set this up, it will be so cute," Megan said as Mina wanted to ask about something.
"I wonder, I overheard Sonic and your husband agreed to give you aid in this war. This island nation went through all," Mina said as Megan nodded her head.
"Yes, it's quite chaotic and a series of setups. We have big war back to back with Robotnik going on for two years and then Sally setting up a civil war that lasted for five years ongoing," Megan said.
"Was Sally always this bad?" Mina asked.
"No, she was proud and stubborn but she was brave and kind to people. Geoffrey poisons her mind with trash like his hatred for humanity," Megan said as Mina sounded concerned over this.
"Why do they humans so much?" Mina asked.
"Eggman's and his nephew's actions left a mark on some of the people here. Some people like Geoffrey and Sally use this fear and make people go against us. Their freedom fighters become a hate group who think humans are nothing more than violent heartless thugs. They use the fear to get people on their side and wage war against us," Megan said.
"There are bad humans like there are bad Mobians. We both know most people want to live peaceful lives and they want to spread their bigotry to break this peace. It's so disgusting," Mina feels like vomiting at the thought of people being bigotry.
"Indeed. Sally has done awful things like killings, bombings, and assassinations of officials and their families. She even is targeting our daughter because she sees her as a threat to being the next queen on the throne," Megan said.
"Such madness twisted by hatred to another species. We are going to stop this," Mina said.
'yes, your boyfriend aided in stopping the last war with Robotnik and you all will stop this one," Megan said as Mina was confused by this.
"I don't remember Sonic helping anyone during his adventures on the South Island and Westside Island. he only had Tails helping him when he went to Westside Island," Mina said.
"From what I heard, Eggman only got pushed back when Sonic started showing up out of nowhere. The family was keeping tabs on him since he was fighting Eggman on his own deep behind enemy lines since South Island and Westside Island were cut off when Robotnik took control over them," Megan said.
"Weird, Sonic was on his own but since he fought for a greater cause without even knowing it," Mina said as she always thought his sense of justice was one of his best traits.
"Yes, after that sad moment that happened within that village. That blue hedgehog became a local hero without even knowing it," Megan said.
"Awesome, I know my baby would be bound for greatness even without knowing it," Mina said as everyone enjoyed a good meal.
Elsewhere Naugus is doing some experiments with Sally's rebels for She and Bunnie look concerned by their current condition. "You sure this is a good idea?" Sally asked as her rebel soldiers were being twisted by dark magic becoming monstrous versions of themselves.
"Do you want to win this war or not?" Naugus asked.
"Yes but…" Sally sees the pain in the eyes of her troops to become monsters willing to follow her orders.
"We will begin the invasion of the capital in the dead of night. With the Badniks, your troops, and my Cockatrice that should be more than enough to deal with them," Naugus said as Bunnie looked over to see Sally shaken by her troops becoming twisted monsters.
"Sally Girl, all the things we have done up to this point. I hope it was all worth it in the end," Bunnie said as they prepared for the invasion.
Elsewhere Sonic and Mina are in their guest room preparing to go to bed. Mina strips out her outfit to only wear a white sports bra and blue panties. She loses her long purple hair to sit beside her lover.
"How are you holding up baby?" she asked as she pressed her chest against his arm and her hand on his chest gently rubbing it.
"Just taking it all in. Mom is quite the hero here in this little corner of the world. I left this place due to losing all my emotional links here but now things are becoming more clear," Sonic said as Mina leaned against him and her head on his shoulder.
"I mean, it's all crazy to take in but all things will be clear soon once we get to that old Scrap Brain base on South Island," Mina said.
"Yeah, come on. Let's go to bed," Sonic said as they both got into the bedsheet with Mina getting very comfy.
"Oh yeah, this is so fluffy," Mina said as she went up to Sonic to cuddle with him. "Hang on Sonic, we will sort this all out soon," she said as she placed Sonic's head on her chest letting her heartbeat soothe him fast asleep.
Sonic dwells in his memories to remember when he was 12 years old when the orphanage at Knothole Village changed his life forever.
-Flashback Begins-
12-year-old Sonic is running through the Great Forest near Knothole Village to grab some flowers for his caretaker Ms. Buckbeak. "Now this is good, I need to jam back to the village before it gets dark," he said as he performed a Spin Dash to go under a fallen tree for he is very happy it works.
"Gee, that took a while to master but it was worth it," he thought feeling proud of himself to speed towards the gate of Knothole Village.
"Hey kids, don't be out here so late. Ms. Buckbeak is worried about you," the village guard said.
"Don't worry, I wanted to grab her a gift," Sonic said as the guard nodded at this.
'Okay young one, keep going back to the orphanage," the guard said as Sonic speeds through the small village which is built around large tree trunks.
Sonic rushes to the door of the orphanage to see a tall female Mobian Owl waiting for him there. "Sonic, where were you?" she asked.
"I got these for you Buckbeak," Sonic hands her a bunch of flowers. She grabs the flowers to be touched by his sweet gesture.
"Thank you Sonic, this is pretty nice too," she takes Sonic inside the building to see other children playing with each other. Buckbeak puts the flowers into a vase right by the window with the sun shining its light through it and the curtains.
"It's all for you Mrs. Buckbeak," Sonic said as the caretakers felt touched by this.
"Oh Bernadette, you have produced a wonderful son. I wish you could see him now," Buckbeak said.
"Can I play outside?" Sonic asked.
"Yes but not too long. I am cooking up your favorite food, Chili Dogs," she said as Sonic licked his lips at the spicy dishes.
"Oh yes, this is going to be an awesome day today," Sonic said to get excited as he sped outside to go on a rocky hoop.
"That speed is a gift from your late mother through her genes passed onto you Sonic," she thought as she went back into the kitchen to begin finishing up dinner for the kids inside.
Soon enough, all the kids begin eating at the table with Sonic getting a plate of chili dogs for him to eat through them pretty easily.
"Oh, that hits the spot," Sonic said.
"Quite a bit hungry today huh?" Buckbeak asked.
"Yes, it was good," Sonic said.
'Hey Sonic, when you are older I would love to give you something that your mother once had," Buckbeak said.
'Oh, what is it," Sonic said as he always wanted to know about his mother who he waited to come back but now thinks she is dead.
"Only when you are old enough to see the truth of her love for you. My boy," Buckbeak said as night came over the small village with a looming shadow on top of a cliff ready to make his move.
"Snively, time to find these emeralds on this rock," a low menacing voice said.
"Of course, Uncle," Snively said as a swarm of Badnik descended onto the village.
Sonic is in bed sound asleep but he hears explosions outside rocking the whole area. "What the heck is going on outside," Sonic wondered as the young boy walked outside to see the village of Knothole being attacked by weird-looking machines.
"Sonic, get down," Buckbeak dives for him to avoid a laser blast with Badnik killing the civilians of the town.
"So, my beaked friend. Where is the emerald?" a man demanded as he hovered on his egg-shaped platform with a small man operating a mech suit beside him.
"You must be Dr. Robotnik, the disgraced scientist from the United Federation," Buckbeak said.
"Well, GUN can't manage my genius and so I came here to those pitiful islands to seek the ultimate power. I am going to torch every village in this forsaken rock until the crown tells me where all the emeralds are located," Robotnik said as Sonic felt scared but also very angry at this man and his assistant seeking to destroy their home.
"You will never get the Chaos Emeralds Robotnik," Buckbeak said as Robotnik snapped his fingers to order Snively to fire a powerful beam to strike at the owl Mobian sending her flying into a broken tree and breaking her back on impact.
"No, you will not get away with this," Sonic uses his Spin Dash to slam into Snively's mech to knock him down.
"What in the hell is that," Snively questioned as Robotnik looked at the young body to see this hedgehog looks quite familiar.
"No, it can't be," Robotnik looks at the young 12-year-old Sonic to remind him of a troublesome hedgehog woman who gave him trouble about 9 years ago. "So, she spawned a brat. Just great," Robotnik fires a beam of energy to slam into Sonic. The young boy got sent flying and knocking him into a building to fall on top of him.
"Ms. Buckbeak, no," Sonic blacks out as the whole village is destroyed and the rest are captured by the mad doctor and his nephew.
Within a few hours, Sonic wakes up to get out of the fallen debris. He is covered with cuts and bruises but he is fine. "Ms. Buckbeak," he called out to see the whole village of Knothole is ruined and the buildings burned out. There were dead bodies but most of the people were captured by Robotnik.
Sonic searches for his caretaker to see the middle-aged Buckbeak lying on the grass, lifeless. The young Sonic went over to her trying to wake her up but she remained still.
"No Buckbeak is gone and the others were captured by Robotnik," Sonic wanted to cry but instead his heart was replaced with a deep sense of justice wanting to stop Robotnik from hurting any more people. "Okay Sonic, I need to sleep for a bit, and then I am going after that weirdo. Save everyone and stop this crazy man," the young Sonic has determination within his heart to go forward on a quest to stop Robotnik and save South Island from his wraith.
-Flashback Ends-
Mina is holding his head in a hug with his face buried into her chest and sports bra. Sonic wakes up as she looks down at him to see he is quite serious. "Sonic, you were shaking in your sleep. You had a bad dream baby?" she asked.
"Why is my face in your cleavage?" he asked but he felt her chest softness and warmth making him calm down a bit.
"It's your favorite spot to rest on, it helps calm you down," Mina said as she stroked his quills.
"Can't complain, I remember a memory before my village was destroyed by Dr. Robotnik," Sonic said as it was as bad as he remembered it.
"Oh, that is awful honey," Mina pulled him closer for a hug but her large breasts covered his face making it hard for Sonic to breathe.
"Mina, your boobs," Sonic said as Mina pulls back to make her tits bounce in her sports bra.
"Come on Sonic, dying via my tits would be the way to go," Mina teases to lighten up the mood.
"You got that right, death via your big boobs would be pretty good," Sonic laughs for Mina is happy to bring him out of his serious mood.
"I am sorry, you have to live that nightmare again," Mina grabs his shoulder to gently rub it.
"Yeah, I wonder what Buckbeak wanted to give me," Sonic said as Mina was confused by this.
"What do you mean?" she asked.
"Well, she wanted to give me something of my mother if I was older enough," Sonic said as Mina raised her eyebrows at this.
"Why didn't you come back and search for it?" Mina asked.
"Like I would know what to look for and until recently I didn't care about that stuff. Now I need to search the old ruins of Knothole Village to find what Ms. Buckbeak was talking about," Sonic said as Mina pulled Sonic's face into her chest again.
"Come on, let's go to sleep. Rest on my chest, they are very warm," Mina said trying to calm him down for them to resume their sleeping.
Soon enough one of the sections of the shield wall gets targeted by the Cockatrice using its energy blasts from its mouth to destroy one of the generators to disable the shield wall. The capital city activates the alarm to detect enemy foot soldiers in the city.
"Sir, we have sightings of rebels within the city along with Badniks and a weird creature," Rotor said as Elias wielded his sword.
"Dear, get our daughter to the safety room, and don't come out until the alarm stops," Elias said as he hugged his daughter and wife tightly.
"Be safe, my love," Megan said.
"Kick some butt, Daddy," Alexis said as Elias nods his head to kiss his wife on the lips and kissing his daughter on the forehead.
"I will," he said as the girls went off with Rotor and Elias heading outside to fight the invading forces.
Sonic and Mina get out of their room with Mina being combat-ready to see all the guards going into defensive positions. "The city is under attack?" Sonic wondered as they saw an explosion outside the window.
"Yep, it's under attack by the rebels," Mina said as they leap out of the window to jump across the rooftops to see the rebels look very weird here.
"Why do they look like that," Sonic wondered as the rebels looked like feral monsters rushing at royal soldiers. They are taking shots from blaster rifles but they keep going until they fall into piles of burning gore.
"Gee, what happens to Sally's troops?" Mina wondered.
"They are monsters now," Sonic said as he used a Homing Attack to strike a mutant Rebel to knock it down. Sonic kicks a mutant rebel into a wall as Mina lobs waves of energy to make them hover in the air. She lobs fireballs to burn the monstrous Mobians into piles of ashes.
"We need to clear out the city," Mina said as they worked together to fight off mutant Mobians and Badniks like Egg Pawns and Egg Flappers. She uses Hover to make a group of Badniks float in the air with Sonic setting up Homing Attack chains to turn them into scrap metal.
"Sonic," Elias swoops in with his sword to slice up several mutant Mobians and Egg Pawns killing them off.
"King Elias," Mina said as Rotor came in while wearing power armor. He comes in via jetpack and fires laser bolts from his wrist blasters on his armored gloves.
"How horrible, turning her troopers into monsters. This is too low even for her," Rotor said as he fired a powerful soundwave to blow away the mutant monsters and Egg Pawns crashing onto trees.
Elias leaps off a tree to slice an Egg Flapper in half while kicking a Mutant Mobian into a wall. "I know, this is a big step from their previous attacks. Along with that big beast leading the assault," Elias said as Sonic and Mina were confused by this.
"What big monster?" Mina asked.
"It seems like a big rooster from hell, using its breath to turn people into stone. Avoid that attack at all cost," Elias said as he gripped his sword to see more Egg Pawns firing their blasters at them. Mina summons a stone wall to block the shots with Rotor firing a soundwave to blow away the chunks of stones to crush the incoming Egg Pawns.
Elias and Sonic finish off the Egg Pawns and Mutant Mobains until they hear a powerful shriek that echoes through the streets of Mobotropolis. "So, the king has graced me with his presence," the Cockatrice appears for it's as ugly as Mina and Sonic think for it is a naked rooster with grey scaly skin and a nasty-looking beak.
"Remember its stone breath is irreversible," Elisa as he got in front of Sonic and the others with the beast unleashing its stone breath to turn all the royal troops into statues. "Guardian Field," Elias traces his two fingers along the mystic blade for runes to appear and light up. He stabs the ground to summon a magic dome to protect them from the stone breath unharmed.
"What is that sword?" Sonic asked.
"It's the Sword of Light, a magical blade that has belonged to my family for generations. With a trace of my fingers on the blade, I can summon powerful spells like this. Wind Blade," Elias charges up magically energy through the blade and unleashes energy crescents to slash into the hellish rooster's scaly skin.
The Cockatrice is groaning in pain from the powerful mystic energies of the Sword of Light. "That blasted sword," the hellish rooster is peppering the area with energy beams with Mina and Elias creating barriers to protect the surroundings and the people.
Sonic and Rotor go in to crash into the beast with Rotor using his power armor to uppercut the beast into the air while blasting it with laser bolts to juggle it in the air. Sonic wall kicks off a building to slam into its head with a Homing Attack.
The Cockatrice crashes onto the ground with Sonic using his Bounce attack to hit the back of the beast several times with each strike getting stronger than the last. Cockatrice slams its tail into Sonic to knock him through a window.
Mina launches herself in her Drill form to miss the mark as she sees the beast is using its Stone Breath again. She makes a clone which takes the hit to become a stony statue making the clone explode and knocking back the beast.
"Cover me," Elias said as Rotor hovered in the air to fire energy bolts and sonic waves to distract the monster.
Cockatrice brute forces its way through the barrage to try to bite the king in half. Elias slides under the leak to drive his blade upward to slice the underbelly of the ghoulish bird with blood leaking onto the street.
Mina is tossing explosive clones to inflict some serious damage with Sonic busting out of the window using a Light Speed Attack to pierce the side of the beast. The Cockatrice slams its talons to emit a powerful shockwave to knock back Sonic, Mina, Rotor, and Elias into trees.
"I will not go down so easily, Explosive Wave," the rooster lets out a surge of energy forcing it out of its body and creating a massive blast all around it. The wake of the explosion left a big crater with buildings getting destroyed in the process.
"This thing is built like a tank," Sonic said as he dodged incoming energy orbs that had enough power to turn a 5 story building into a pile of rubble.
"I was created by Lord Naugus himself, I will not fall to the likes of you," Cockatrice spreads its leathery wings to take flight and begin peppering them orbs filled with Stone Breath. They avoid the barrage of attacks with the beast unleashing powerful gusts of wind from flapping its wings. The four fighters hold their ground by grabbing onto a tree.
"Void," Mina lobs a mini black hole that is sucking up all the Stone Breath attacks to safely implode in the air.
"Cover me," Elias traces his fingers on the blade to prepare to take out the dark beast. Rotor fires a taser net which latches onto the beast's head and chest to stun it sending it back onto the streets. Sonic and Mina perform a Double Boost to slam into the beast but it uses its wings to hold them back. Then it sends them back as it aims for Elias with its Stone Breath compressed into a large orb.
"King Elias," Sonic said as Elias had a smile on his face.
"Perfect, Mirror Blade," Elias cloaks his blade with magical energy to clash with the orb to bounce it back with twice the power and speed. The Cockatrice took its own unable to dodge to become stone as Mina and Sonic used another Double Boost to slam into it reducing it into rocky pieces.
"Hot damn, we won," Sonic said as he gave Mina a high five the royal army managed to destroy all enemy forces within the hour. Elias wants a status report from Rotor for he looks at a holographic from his armored suit.
"Well, most of the city is intact and we managed to minimize the damage. Also, almost all the citizens were moved underground away from the fighting," Rotor said.
"Good work, the army did what was expected," Elias said as he put away his magic sword in its scabbard.
"It's insane, those rebels were nothing but monsters," Mina said.
"That rooster was insane, Naugus's doing," Sonic said.
"Yes, Sally having that mad wizard turning her soldiers/our people into mindless monsters is insulting to me," Elias said to tighten his fist as he took Rotor, Mina, and Sonic back to the castle which is untouched by the battle. "We need to go on the offensive. I have a plan and it will need you two to make it work," Elias said.
"Cool, we are going in on this," Sonic said.
"Yes, we need to end the conflict as soon as possible," Mina said as they headed back into the castle to begin planning the final stages of the civil war with the capital defended with minimal losses.
Elsewhere within the Scrap Brain base, Sally witnesses the battle via a drone being horrified by her troops becoming zombie-like monsters. Throwing themselves at the royal soldiers and getting gunned down in the streets like diseased animals.
"Gee, they didn't deserve to die like this," Sally said feeling uncomfortable about it as Naugus looked ashamed of her behavior.
"I thought you said you wanted to win this civil war against your brother," Naugus questioned her resolve.
"Oh no, I want to win but my troops fighting because they believe in my cause against the humans but now they are just mindless cannon fodder," Sally said as Bunnie looked worried for Bunnie.
"Sal," Bunnie said softly.
"Not only that. The Quickster and the Mongoose are here as well," Naugus said as Sally was getting worried right now. Sonic and Mina were very capable and they could tip the balance of power in this conflict.
"Well, they will counterattack and they will go to Westside Island. After that, they will go to the South Island to assault this base. Bunnie, I need you to go command the Metropolis base and stop them," Sally said.
"Of course," Bunnie said as Naugus stopped her.
"Hold on, I have a gift for you," Naugus conjures a dark magic crystal to hand to Bunnie. Insert it into your spine and it will empower you," he said as Bunnie placed it on her back. The crystal etched into her spine for her body feels overwhelmed with dark power.
"My stars, this is amazing. This upgrade will help me defeat that hog and his gang. I will not fail you, Sally," Bunnie said as she went to hug her best friend.
"Please Bunnie, don't fail me. Our mission depends on it," Sally said.
"I will not, with this power, I feel like I can do anything now," Bunnie said as she activated her rocket feet to fly out of there with newfound speed.
'Please be careful. I don't want to lose you in all of this," Sally said as Naugus had a nasty smile on his face.
"Oh, too late for that. Wielding dark power like that comes with drawbacks without proper training," Naugus said as the final phase of the civil war is about to begin.
