Chapter 42: Concert of Hope
A few days have passed since Mina discovered how to control her Rainbow State with Naugus recovering for his magic is back to normal. "How annoying?" he said as Geist and Ether watched over his quarter wondering about their next move.
"Sir, what do we do now?" Geist asked.
"I heard that Mongoose is putting on a concert at Empire City. One of the human-held settlements is in the Northamer eastern region. I am going to make her pay for this. Geist and Ether, you will lead a force to Empire City and attack it. Kill her while you can," Naugus said as the two went to gather their forces to invade Empire City.
Elsewhere Mina is with Team Rose with Amy, Cream, Tiara, Gemerl, and Sticks in the backroom to watch Mina's live performance for the crowd in the human-led Empire City.
Mina is in her dressing room to strip out of her clothing with her just in underwear consisting of a pure white bra and matching panties with a little blue bow on the front of them.
She traces her fingers on the hems of her panties to make sure they fit against her buns. "My ass looks killer in these," Mina winks in the mirror to pat her butt with both hands. She slips into her purple skirt, a black top, and green gloves and boots. She puts her hair in cute twin tails and puts a black hairband within her purple hair. "Perfect," Mina smiles into the mirror to exit to be within the backstage room to see the girls and Gemerl waiting for her to take the stage.
"You look so cute Ms. Mina," Cream commented.
"Yeah, you look pretty nice," Tiara said.
"I like your twin tails, they are so adorable," Amy said.
"You look like one of those weird computer idols," Sticks said.
"Oh yeah, I remember Momo. She is still big these days but I fill the whole cute animal girl idol niche," Mina said to fix up her skirt and brush her tail sticking through the hole in the back of her skirt.
"Yeah, you fit that bill with all your fanboys and fangirls," Tiara said as they saw the stage surrounded by her human fans.
"Yes, some of them are a bit too hardcore but they mean well," Mina said.
"I heard about you getting a new power?" Tiara asked.
"Oh yes, I dubbed it Rainbow Mina. It's pretty cool and all my Color powers get amped to their most extreme while boosting my natural abilities a hundredfold but I can't hold it for too long," Mina said.
"Oh; your Rainbow Mina form is like Super Sonic since Sonic can only hold that Super form for so long until he burns out of it," Amy said as she felt a bit jealous that Mina was getting stronger.
"Yep, but I will be Sonic's equal in terms of power. When we go Rainbow and Super, it will be magical," Mina said just thinking about how badass it would be for them to work together in a super-powered couple tag team.
"I guess," Amy said as Tiara and Cream noticed her being a bit sad about it.
"Well guys, I need to head onto the stage. I hope you enjoy the show," Mina said as she went out the door to head for the stage. Cream and Tiara walk over to check on their leader to have concern for her.
"Amy, what's wrong? You look pretty down," Cream said.
"Yeah pinky, what's gives?" Tiara said as Amy took in a deep sigh to explain herself.
"Seems like I am being left behind," Amy said.
"What do you mean?" Tiara asked as Cream was confused as well.
"You are insecure about Mina's new powers?" Cream asked as Amy felt defeated for Cream saw right through her.
"Yes, she has the power of the Mother Wisp and she has a transformation like Sonic does with his Super form. Not just that; Tiara and your ice powers as well. Seem like I am becoming less useful around here," Amy said as Cream grabbed her hands to hold them tenderly.
"Amy, you are not useless. Don't you ever say that you have talents that are still pretty useful," Cream said.
"Yeah, I have ice power which I didn't ask for by the way. There is more to battles than raw power Amy," Tiara said.
"Yes, you have an inner fire that gathers us together to form the new Team Rose. You wanted to form this team to aid in helping Mr. Sonic deal with this new threat. Remember that, Mr. Sonic has great respect for you Amy, and sees you are doing your best for him and the world," Cream said.
"Yeah besides I am a princess but I am no good at leading anyone. I will let you take the lead while I blast people with ice," Tiara said.
"Yeah Amy, you are cutting yourself too short. You will rise and make everyone proud," Sticks said to pat her on the back.
"Yes, you are very capable and I will gladly fight by your side," Gemerl said as all her team members made Amy feel better about herself.
"Yeah, sorry guys. I was a bit unnerved about my place in all this. I am still untested in fighting this new threat," Amy said.
"Don't worry, we got your back when you fall out of place," Cream said as she went to hug her best friend.
"Thanks, Cream. I will try my best for you gals," Amy said as they gathered around the holoscreen to see the yellow mongoose on stage to greet her human fans.
"Welcome everyone, how are you all doing today?" Mina asked as she saw thousands of her fans filling up the stands with the sun high in the sky and screens all over the place showing her face.
She feels the roar of the crowds for she feels so pumped to show her fans a good time. "I am happy, we got an amazing show here for I am going to sing a few songs today. Living in the City, Super Sonic Racing and Can You Feel the Sunshine," Mina said.
Team Rose looks to be excited about her song selections. "Oh, these are pretty classic songs from her album Boom R," Amy said.
"Yes, those songs are amazing," Cream said as they watched with the lights focusing on Mina's position.
"Okay, here we go," Mina said as the music played in the background. Mina taps her foot on the stage with her mic holding tight in her hand.
"Can you see? The sun is shining on me. It makes me feel so free, so alive! It makes me want to survive! And the sky, it makes me feel so high, the bad times pass me by. Cause today is going to be a brighter day!" Mina shouts her voice rising into the sky with flares flashing around and the lights twisting around her.
The crowd roared over her opening words for her to get into a passionate dance letting the music flow through her body.
"Can you feel the sunshine? Does it brighten up your day? Don't you feel that sometimes, you just need to run away? Reach out for the sunshine. Forget about the rain. Just think about the good times. And they will come back again," she continues.
"Feel the sunshine," Mina pauses to continue forward. "Without you, there's nothing for me to do. Can you feel the sunshine, too? It's coming through, it makes me feel brand new. When you're here, I wish you were always near. Cause everything's so clear. And today is going to be a brighter day," she sees the crowd clapping their hands with Team Rose. They clap their hands to follow the beat with Sticks being confused by this.
"Why are we clapping?" Sticks said as Amy tapped her on the head.
"Just do it, it's fun," Amy said as Sticks looked concerned but did it to make her friends happy.
"Fine, I will do your weird rituals," Sticks said as Amy was bothered for she was hyped by Mina's music.
"Can you feel the sunshine? Does it brighten up your day? Brighten up your day. Don't you feel that sometimes, you just need to run away? Reach out for the sunshine. Forget about the rain. Just think about the good times. And they will come back again. When the sun goes down. I feel like I am waiting for another day. When the clouds go away," Mina pauses for she is hopping onstage with the crowds clapping to her rhyme.
"Can you feel it?" Mina sees the crowd repeating what she is saying while they say the same phrase while her fans echo it back. "Oh yeah. Can you feel the sunshine? Does it brighten up your day? Brighten up your day. Don't you feel that sometimes, we just need to run away and reach out for the sunshine? Forget about the rain. Just think about the good times. And they will come back again," Mina's voice peaks with the crowds roaring with excitement.
"She got some serious pipes," Sticks said.
"Yep Miss Mina is very talented when it comes to singing," Cream said.
"Seems too mushy for my taste," Sticks said.
"Your taste involves lots of shouting," Amy joked.
"Hey peanut gallery, we are watching this or what?" Tiara asked.
"Her pitch is quite on the mark," Gemerl is enjoying the music as well.
'That's the spirit Gemerl, at least he has taste," Amy said as Sticks pouted at this.
"Whatever, it's so girly. It's all feelings and sort," Sticks said.
"Can you feel the sunshine? Can you feel it? Does it brighten up your day? Brighten up your day. Don't you feel that sometimes, we just need to run away? Need to run away. Reach out for the sunshine. Reach out and forget about the rain. Just think about the good times. And they will come back again," Mina is about to finish off her singing by performing a precise dance routine not missing a beat.
"Whoa, whoa oh yeah. Brighten up your day. You just need to run away. Reach out, you got to reach out and come back again. You got to reach out," she finishes her song as the crowd explodes with excitement with Mina taking a bow.
"Thank you, everyone. We got a few songs to go through it. This isn't over yet," Mina said as everyone was gearing up for a good time.
Meanwhile, a small garrison of GUN soldiers within a local base is noticing something in the distance. "Hey what's that?" the sergeant wondered as their threat detectors sent several missiles which struck a few military defenses disabling them.
"Shit, Badnik forces are on the offensive," the GUN Private said.
"We need to call for reinforcements. We only got 5000 soldiers on defensive duty here in the city against about 50,000 Egg Pawns among other forces," the sergeant said as the city was under attack by Naugus's robot forces.
Geist and Ether are leading the troops for them to go after Mina Mongoose. Seek and destroy Mina along with her girly music," Ether said as she commanded her troops. They both use their supernatural powers to seek out Mina Mongoose.
Mina is still on stage to feel the area get shaken by the attack. "Okay, the city is under attack. Everyone get to safety and have the GUN agents show you the way," Mina said as she saw another missile heading for her stage which is surrounded by thousands of her fans.
She uses Hover to let out a wave of energy to make the missile float in mid-air with her hair spiking up and flashing rainbow colors to send the missile high into the sky to explode up there preventing everyone from getting killed.
"Mina, I am detecting multiple hostiles within the city. They must be going after you," Gemerl said on the earpiece.
"Yes, I think so too," Mina said as her fans ran out of the building to clear out there. She sees Team Rose meeting her on stage.
"We need to defend the city and defeat the commanders to end this as swiftly as possible," Tiara said.
"Yeah, let's go," Amy summons her Piko-Piko Hammer for a bunch of Egg Flappers flying above to fire their lasers at them.
Gemerl transforms his right arm into a blade to unleash sword beams to blast them out of the sky. Cream orders Cheese to tackle into a nearby Egg Flapper to smash it to pieces. Cream flaps her ears to take a flight to bash an Egg Flapper with her baton umbrella.
Sticks pull out her bow and have a quiver filled with the special arrows she made herself. She fires bomb arrows to blast away Egg Flappers as she is rolling away from the wave of lasers. She fires another bomb arrow to destroy the last Egg Flapper.
The five girls, Gemerl and Cheese go outside the building to see the city is under siege by Naugus's forces with them heading for the center of the city to encounter more Egg Pawns, Egg Hammers, and E-2000s.
"Well, time to show these bolt brains what we are made of. Team Rose, move out," Amy ordered as Gemerl, Sticks, Cream, and Tiara went on the offensive along with their leader Amy Rose with her hammer in hand. She bashes and smashes Egg Pawns and Egg Hammers dodging a big laser from an E-2000.
Amy leaps over a car and drops her hammer onto the flying E-2000's head to follow up with hitting it into the pavement below. "Amy," Mina said as she transformed into a pink spike ball with Amy knocking her into an Egg Hammer to destroy it on contact. Amy keeps knocking Mina's ball form into other Egg Hammers to destroy them with ease.
"Eat this," Amy jumps and knocks Mina into another Egg Hammer to smash through its chest to destroy it.
Mina uncurls to lob orbs of energy to trigger Hover to make several troops helplessly in mid-air with Gemerl and Sticks shooting at them to pick them off one by one. "Talon Scar," Gemerl is powering up his blade arm to unleash a barrage of energy crescents to tear up several groups of robots turning them into scrap.
Sticks and Cream team up to destroy some Badniks with Stick using an Electro arrow to stun the big robot with Cheese knocking the weapon out of the robot's hands. Cream bashed her umbrella onto its leg to make it dent causing it to flinch. Stick fires a bomb arrow to strike the head and destroy it leaving it motionless to fall onto its back.
"That was awesome Cream," Stick said as she gave the little rabbit and the Angel Chao both a high five.
"Good teamwork," Cream said.
"Right back at you Cream," Sticks said as Cheese felt happy about it but an E-2000 in jet mode speeds in and bombs their position. These explosions knock the three of them into a car. "Spoke too soon," Sticks switches to an electro arrow trying to aim for the E-2000 robot. She waits for it to pass again as she fires the arrow to nail the flying robot to see it flop onto the streets.
"You got it Sticks," Cream said.
"Nothing to it," Sticks said.
Tiara and Amy are destroying robots with Tiara's hair becoming icy white and her eyes becoming red allowing her to trigger her ice power.
She fires a blast of ice to freeze an Egg Pawn with Amy smashing it to pieces as Tiara makes ice stakes on her shoes to glide across the battlefield with grace and strength. She is freezing targets as Amy breaks them down with her hammer.
"Frozen Lance," Tiara calls down an icy lance to impale an Egg Hammer to freeze them. Tiara snaps her fingers to make it explode in an icy blast taking out more groups around it. Several E-2000s are in their jet mode to fly towards Tiara as she summons a wall of ice to make them crash into it exploding on contact.
Amy looks on to see Tiara going insane against the robot army with her awe-inspiring ice powers. Tiara summons ice daggers between her fingers to toss them into Egg Flappers and Egg Pawns to freeze them.
Several groups of enemies move around the frozen bots with Tiara snapping her fingers for the frozen enemies to act like mines destroying swarms of robots. "So cool," Amy is getting hyped about her girl crush.
"Amy focus," Tiara is blasting the ground to make use of her skating skills to gain a lot of speed to dodge incoming lasers and missiles. Tiara focuses under her feet to conjure a pillar to lift her into the air as she uses icy skate blades under her feet to slice up incoming Egg Flappers and E-2000s to pieces.
Gemerl is running on top of a building to blast away flying enemies with his arm blaster. Several Egg Pawns try to rush him but he dices them up with his blade arm.
He leaps on top of an Egg Flapper to shoot every robot in view as he slices the robot to land on the streets below. Three Egg Hammers sling their hammers with him blocking and attacking to knock the metal beasts backward.
Gemerl empowers his blade to release several energy crescents to slice up the Egg Hammers and blast the remaining pieces to dust.
Mina is fighting groups of robots to see Geist and Ether appearing before her. "Mina Mongoose, we are sent here by our master to end your life," Ether lifts a car with her psychic powers to toss it at Mina. She destroys it with fireballs with Geist merging into the ground.
"So, your master is still licking his wounds and sending his minions to go after me," Mina said as Ether used Psycho Shock which stuns her in place as Geist possesses electric wires underneath the streets. Geist burst out of the street to grab onto Mina to begin zapping her with the wires.
Mina explodes with flames to burn away the wire forcing Geist out as he begins to possess other things. Ether lifts her in the air with her psychic hold but Mina turns into a blue cube while increasing her density to the point that Ether is unable to lock her in the air and drop her.
"Laser," Mina swiftly tackles Ether at the speed of light to knock her into a building. She lifts through the window with Geist possessing the walls for sharpening metal bars lunging at her. She dodges the onslaught of flying objects with Ether locking her in place. Geist pounds Mina with metal bars to knock her out of the building with a huge metal rod.
Mina spits blood onto the ground to see her stage outfit ripped up. "Gee, you ripped out my favorite stage outfit. You are going to regret that," Mina powers up with a rainbow aura covering her body and launches Plasma orbs to slam into Ether.
Ether is taking damage while Geist goes to shape a large beast made of electric wires to begin attacking the mongoose. "Rhythm," Mina focused her power into her voice and unleashed a wave of sounds to blow away both Ether and Geist.
Guest leashes out electric wires to zap Mina to make her stop as Ether hits her with a telekinesis strike to knock her away. Mina regains her footing and she hits Geist with Hover to make the wired beast unveil in the air.
"Void," Mina lobs a mini black hole to suck up all the wires making Geist pop out of the wired construct to avoid getting sucked up. The black hole burst violently to knock Geist into a lamppost to badly hurt him.
Ether lifts a few broken Egg Hammers and slams them into Mina but she uses a clone to take the hit for her instead. Mina uses Laser to close the gap and tackle Ether to stun her while kicking her several times. The last kick sends the evil psychic into a wall as Mina sees both minions are badly injured.
"Give up, you are done," Mina said as Geist prepared a sneak attack with Mina having her guard down.
"You will be done," Geist is about to strike but Tiara comes in to blast him with ice to turn him into a frozen statue. Tiara snaps her fingers to make him explode killing him instantly as Ether and Mina are in shock at how ruthless Tiara is.
Within the confusion, Tiara swiftly drives her fist into Ether's chest to flash freeze the evil psychic and destroy her in a blast of ice reducing her into a pile of red ice.
"Well, that was a bit extreme," Mina said as Tiara's hands were covered in her fallen opponents' blood.
"It's my training, I tend to finish them off as swiftly as possible. Also, I saved your life from that ghost guy," Tiara said as Mina couldn't complain since Whisper is a sweet person who wouldn't hesitate to kill people like her crazy ex-boyfriend Ash to protect her.
"Well thanks for that," Mina said as they saw GUN's reinforcements coming in to sweep up the remaining enemy forces. Amy, Cream, Gemerl, and Sticks join back with Mina and Tiara.
"Yes, we did it. We defended the city and no major damage took place here," Amy said as she gave everyone a high five for a job well done.
"Yes we did, we can hold our own," Cream said, excited with Sticks jumping for joy.
"That was so cool, we managed to beat back those bastards with all our might," Sticks said.
"Yes, it's good and all but we can't be celebrating yet. There is still an old wizard to take out of commission and save the world," Tiara acts like the big sister of the group to toughen up Amy, Cream, and Sticks.
"Yes the mission is not complete, we need to be aware of our situation," Gemerl said to agree with Tiara.
Mina looks over this new team to see if they will be right as long as they stick together through this madness. "Well once again, I need to reschedule my concert and go hook up with Sonic later," Mina said.
"Well, GUN can handle the rest of this mess. We will depart and not get their way," Tiara said as everyone moved out of the city for it had been saved.
