Chapter 5-Leaving again

Daryl's P.O.V

Daryl walks down the stairs and sees everybody in the living room and kitchen. Maggie, Jesus, Tara, and Alden were also there. "We have guests," Daryl says as June hands him a plate.

"Hope that's okay," Maggie says.

"It's fine. Means I won't have to explain this twice," Daryl says.

"Explain what?" Alicia asks.

"Only two people know about this. That is Rick and Morgan. I'm going on a run, a run that will take a little bit," Daryl says.

"Where?" Maggie asks.

"The Prison," Daryl tells her.

"The Prison Hershel died at?" Shane asks.

"Yeah, we left a lot of supplies there. Guns, food, medicine, trailers," Daryl says.

"How long?" Jesus asks.

"A week. Maybe two," Daryl says.

"Why so long? Georgia isn't that far," Alden asks.

"We're taking a risk doing this. I don't know if there are still supplies there. So we'll hit a few places just in case," Daryl says. Alden nods.

"Who's all going?" Tara asks.

"I don't know. I'm going to talk to a few people, but I want some of you to stay behind and start on the campgrounds," Daryl says.

"Who do you want to come?" Al asks.

"Morgan, Nick, Alicia, John, June, and Dwight," Daryl says.

"And the rest of us stay here?" Madison asks.

"We need to clear the warehouse and get started on the campground," Morgan says.

"You won't be able to clear the Prison with that amount of people," Maggie says.

"I know," Daryl says. "I'm going to see if anybody here wants to come. I'll talk to Rick. You don't have to come if you don't want," Daryl tells them before he leaves the house. Al follows him outside.

"Why don't you want me to come? I won't be useful in clearing that warehouse," Al says.

"I don't want you helping with that," Daryl says. "I want you to go back to Hilltop and keep an eye on Maggie for me,"

"You want me to babysit her?" Al asks.

"Al, you two seem like you hit it off. I trust you, and I would feel a lot better if you went with her. I don't trust anybody else in our group to go with her. If you want to get to know Maggie. The best way is to spend time with her," Daryl tells Al, who sighs but nods.

"You better record this prison," Al says.

"I will," Daryl tells her before he leaves.

Carl's P.O.V

Carl sits on the stairs and listens to his Dad and Daryl talk downstairs. "Talk to whoever you want. Just don't take our doctors," Rick tells him.

"I won't," Daryl tells Rick before he leaves. Carl walks down the stairs and looks at Rick, who looks back at him.

"Carl, no," Rick says.

"Dad, please let me go with him," Carl says.

"Carl-," Rick says.

"That photo of Mom is still there. I want to get it. We left so much there I want to help get it back," Carl says. Rick sighs.

"If I let you do this. You listen to everything Daryl says. You make sure he is okay with it," Rick says, making Carl nod. "Go talk to him," Carl smiles as he goes outside.

"Daryl," Carl says. Daryl turns around and looks at him.

"What?" Daryl asks.

"I want to come. My Dad said it was okay as long as I listen to you," Carl tells Daryl.

"If your Dad is okay with it. Then fine," Daryl says.

"Can Enid come?" Carl asks Daryl.

"Yeah," Daryl says before he walks away. Carl smiles as he goes to find Enid.

Madison's P.O.V

Shane looks at Madison, who was sitting on the bed with her face in her hands. "You should go," Shane says to Madison, who looks at him. "You won't be okay until they come back. I'll come too. Judith is my child, but I see Alicia and Nick as my children too. I don't want to be away from them or you. We should go, Maddie," Shane tells his girlfriend.

"You sure?" Madison asks Shane, who nods.

"Yeah, and our friends will still be here when we get back," Shane says. Madison nods as she kisses him and starts to pack.

Daryl's P.O.V

Daryl walks up to Rosita's house and knocks on the door. Rosita opens the door and looks at him. "Hey," Rosita says. "What's up?"

"Are you up for a run?" Daryl asks.

"Sure. Where?" Rosita asks.

"The Prison you picked Glenn and Tara up at," Daryl tells her.

"Are you serious?" Rosita asks. Daryl nods, and Rosita nods. "Yeah, I'll come,"

"Be ready in an hour," Daryl tells the woman, who nods as he leaves. Daryl walks down the streets and looks at Maggie as she walks up to him.

"Al just told me she's coming back to Hilltop, and Enid is going with you," Maggie says to him.

"I asked Al to go back with you. Carl is coming, and he was asking Enid," Daryl tells her. "I trust Al, and since I'm taking Enid, I would feel better if there was someone beside Tara around to make sure you were okay," Maggie nods.

"Who's all going?" Maggie asks.

"I'll know that when I get home," Daryl says.

"Daryl, my Dad," Maggie says.

"I'll bury him," Daryl tells her. Maggie nods as she follows him back to the house.

Daryl walks back into the house and looks at everybody. "So, who's all coming?" Daryl asks.

"Everybody you asked for," Alicia says. "Plus, my Mom and Shane. You can fight them on that if you want,"

"I would rather not," Daryl says.

"Good choice," Madison says as she looks at him.

"Okay, so Morgan, Shane, John, June, Madison, Alicia, Nick, Carl, Enid, Dwight, Rosita, and I will be going. The rest of you make plans for the warehouse, try to clear it, and start on the campgrounds," Daryl says.

"When will we leave?" Madison asks.

"An hour. We'll be taking the R.V., my bike, and the truck," Daryl says.

"Why not my van?" Al asks.

"We can pull trailers with the other two, and you might need that. The R.V can hold more people," John says.

"Yeah," Daryl says. "Everybody, get ready. I think Carl and Enid are already getting ready," They all nod as they start to pack their bags.

Maggie's P.O.V

Maggie was loading up the supplies they got from trade with Tara when Jesus and Alden came over to them. Maggie looks at them. "Are you two going too?" Maggie asks.

"No," Jesus says. "We want to stay here. Help around, Hilltop is in a decent place, and they could use help in Alexandria and in the campgrounds,"

"Yeah, you're right," Tara says. Maggie nods.

"I'll be back," Maggie tells Tara as she walks away. She walks over to Daryl, who was putting his bag on his bike with his crossbow. "Are you riding by yourself?"

"Alicia is riding with me," Daryl tells her. "What is it?"

"I need you to grab something for me. Glenn's white hat. It's still at the prison. It should be under our mattress," Maggie says.

"I'll get it for you," Daryl tells her. "Can you take Charlie with you? Watch her for me?"

"Yeah, I'll keep an eye on her," Maggie says. Daryl nods as she walks back towards Tara. Daryl looks at Rick as he walks up to him. "You sure about Carl coming?"

"No, but I trust you. Hey, Cyndie came and talked to me. She was wondering if she could come," Rick says.

"Why? Doesn't she have to worry about Oceanside?" Daryl asks him.

"They need more weapons: guns and ammo. We used a lot of it fighting the saviors. Most of the ammo is split between the communities besides Oceanside and Sanctuary. I also think she could use some time away. Building trust with oceanside would be good for your group, Daryl," Rick says.

"And we had a lot of them at the prison. She's offering help with the warehouse and the campgrounds in trade for a quarter of the guns," Rick says.

"Just a quarter?" Daryl asks.

"Oceanside doesn't have too many people. If all the guns are still there, they will have plenty. Does she have a deal?" Rick asks him. Daryl nods.

"Yeah, she has a deal," Daryl tells Rick, who nods as he walks away. Daryl walks over to Charlie, who was helping Alicia get supplies in the truck. "Hey, can we talk for a second?" Daryl asks Charlie, who nods. Alicia walks away. "You're going to go with Maggie to Hilltop. Is that okay with you?"

"Yeah," Charlie says. Daryl nods and pats her shoulder. Daryl stands up and heads back inside.

An hour later

Daryl hugs Maggie as everybody comes outside. "Stay safe," Daryl says.

"I should be saying that to you," Maggie says. "Please be safe. I can't lose you,"

"You won't," Daryl says as he looks at Carl with Rick and Michonne as Maggie walks over to Enid. Daryl looks at Daniel.

"Can't wait to see what you guys do," Daryl says to the man.

"Come back, safe," Daniel says.

"Okay, Dwight, Rosita, John, June will take the truck. Madison, Shane, Nick, Cyndie, and Morgan will take the R.V. Alicia and I take my bike. We go until sundown," Daryl says. Everybody nods as they start to load into the cars. Daryl hugs Rick before he climbs on the bike. Daryl starts the bike and rides towards the gate, followed by the R.V and the truck. Eugene opens the gate, and they drive out.

Thanks for reading. Now the story will start to focus on a few people at a time. Some of them might focus on one community per chapter. I know Cyndie is a weird add, but I think she is a good character, and going on this run will help the story I have for her. I don't have much to say. As always, suggestions, ideas, and feedback are welcomed. Until next time.
