Chapter 11-The Prison part 2

Daryl's P.O.V

Daryl looked at the sun as it was rising in the air. It was just past 6:30 A.M. He walks over to Merle's bike and looks at it. It was on the ground. He sighs as he walks over to the bike and stands it up. Daryl puts his crossbow down and starts to look at the bike. "June told me you came in pretty late," John says as he walks up to him. Daryl looks at him.

"It's hard to sleep in there," Daryl says.

"Is this your bike?" John asks.

"No, it was Merle's before the turn. I started riding after he got trapped in Atlanta," Daryl says.

"June said you burned the Governor's body," John says. Daryl nods.

"After I crushed his skull in with my boot," Daryl says without looking at John.

"Maybe you should figure out a way to let out the anger you're feeling," John says. "Or did crushing his skull help,"

"Do you have any suggestions?" Daryl asks him.

"We have plenty of things for you to hit," John says. "Come on. Nobody is awake and won't be for a few hours," Daryl nods as he grabs his crossbow and goes down the hill. They start to walk the fence. "What was life like here?" John asks him as he looks around.

"After we beat the Governor the first time. It was great," Daryl says. "We had showers and power, and life for us was peaceful. The first time we had peace in a long time,"

"Seems like you buried a lot of people," John says.

"A few months after the Governor. A sickness started going around. A lot of people died. I ended up burying a good amount of 'em," Daryl tells John as they see a walker coming towards them.

"There's your chance," John says. Daryl looks at John and pulls his crossbow off his back. He aims it and shoots the walker in the head.

"I ain't beating on walkers," Daryl says as he grabs the bolt. "I needed to get away for a few minutes. I did. Come on. We gotta get back," John nods as he follows Daryl.

Carl's P.O.V

Enid and Shane follow Carl through the tombs. "So, where are we going?" Shane asks.

"The boiler room," Carl tells Shane. He gets to the door and goes down the stairs, with Shane and Enid following him.

"What's in here?" Enid asks him as they look around.

"This is where Judith was born," Carl tells them.

"Lori died here?" Shane asks Carl, who nods. "I never got the full story. What happened?"

"One of the prisoners here let walkers in and split us all up. Maggie, Mom, and I tried to get back in the cellblock, but we couldn't. We ended up here, and there was a problem, and Maggie had to cut her open," Carl says. "She wanted Maggie to do it so Judith would leave. That's all she wanted. After we set goodbye. Maggie cut her open and got Judith,"

"Maggie made sure she didn't turn, right?" Shane asks.

"No, I did. Maggie had Judith, so I shot Mom. A walker ate her," Carl says. "That's how it happened. After Maggie and I took Judith outside, and it went downhill from there," Carl says. "She told me to always do the right thing. I didn't listen at first. I killed a kid as he was running from the prison. He was giving his gun over, and I shot him,"

"You made a mistake," Enid says. "I would say you've made up for it,"

"Come on. You don't need to be in here," Shane says. Carl nods as he follows him out.

Lilly's P.O.V

Lilly walks into the library and sees Dwight. "We are going to load the guns up," She tells Dwight, who nods. Dwight nods as he follows her.

"You've been in here all alone for weeks?" Dwight asks her as they walk through the tombs.

"Yeah, after the prison I got away and cut my arm off. I was stuck in a building for a while, healing. I came back here after a while to bury Megan," Lilly says. "She was my daughter," Dwight nods as they get into the cellblock. They walk outside and see Cyndie, Tobias, Rosita, Nick, and Madison were.

"Where is Daryl?" Dwight asks.

"No clue," Rosita says. "John and Morgan are with June helping her film the prison. Carl is with Shane and Enid. I think Daryl is looking for tools," Dwight nods.

"So, there are three carts full of guns. You can see one right there," Lilly says. There is one on each side of the fence just in case, and then I think they left some in the watchtowers," Lilly says.

"Okay, let's get this done," Cyndie says. They all nod as they split up to gather guns.

Daryl's P.O.V

Daryl stood beside his brother's bike. He had moved it away from the others so he could work in peace. "I hope you aren't trying to avoid me," Alicia says as she walks over to him.

"I was trying to avoid everybody," Daryl says without looking up from the bike.

"Are you going to ride two bikes?" Alicia asks him. Daryl looks at her.

"No, but I ain't leaving it," Daryl says. "Bikes take less fuel than cars,"

"Who taught you how to ride?" Alicia asks him.

"Merle helped, but I taught myself as well," Daryl says as he stands up. We have some trailers here we can use. I can find some straps and put the bike on one. Can you tell June, John, and Morgan to come here when they are done?" Daryl asks her,

"Yeah," Alicia says as she walks away. Daryl continues to work on the bike for about another thirty minutes. He looks up at John, June, and Morgan as they walk over to him.

"Do you have enough medical supplies?" Daryl asks her.

"We could always use more. You guys did good with gathering it, but we could always use more. Stuff like medical equipment would be great," June says.

"Why? What are you thinking?" Morgan asks.

"I know somewhere we could get all of that," Daryl says.

"Where?" John asks.

"Grady memorial hospital," Daryl tells them.

"The place Beth died?" Morgan asks. "You can't go back there,"

"We're in Georgia. Might as well get as many supplies as possible," Daryl says.

"What about the cops?" John asks.

"I'd be surprised if those assholes are alive," Daryl tells them. "They'll trade if they are alive,"

"Can you guys give us a second?" Morgan asks John and June, who nod as they walk away. Morgan looks at Daryl. "Daryl, it's been hard on you being here. June told me how you came in late last night and how you burned the Governor's body after crushing his skull. You have trouble coming here. Can you honestly say you can go back there? You barely talk about Beth. You've talked about Merle and Hershel. Do you really want to go back to where she died?" Morgan asks him.

"I don't want to. Hell, I didn't even want to come here. But I had to because it would help us all, and Hershel needed to be buried. This hospital will have all the supplies we need. Maybe I should go back. Say goodbye," Daryl says. "And not all those cops were bad. Maybe some will back with us,"

"Okay," Morgan says. "We'll talk to the others tonight," Daryl nods. "I don't think Beth and Hershel are the only people you need to say goodbye to," Morgan tells him before he walks away. Daryl doesn't say anything as he looks at Merle's bike.

Shane's P.O.V

Shane walks out of the prison and down to the grave they had made for Lori. "I always wondered what I would say to you if I saw you alive again. I never got that chance, and that's my fault. We had a beautiful daughter, Lori. You didn't deserve to die without seeing her. We both made our mistakes. I'm going to make sure our daughter survives, and I am going to tell her all kinds of stories about her mother," Shane says. He turns around and walks away from the grave. He walks over to the U-Haul as Dwight puts another bag of guns inside. "I'll finish here, Dwight," Dwight nods as he leaves the U-Haul. Shane climbs inside the U-Haul and starts to set the guns up. He looks at Alicia as she brings ammo into the U-Haul.

"Tobias and Mom are getting the last bags of ammo," Alicia tells him. Shane nods as he sets the bag down. Alicia looks at him. "Can I ask you something?"

"Yeah," Shane says.

"Do you think it's worse to date or have a family in this shit?" Alicia asks him.

"It gives you something to fight for," Shane tells her. "I don't think I would do it again if Madison died. She's my last chance. Why?"

"I was just thinking about it," Alicia says.

"Hopefully, one day, we can have stuff like baby showers, weddings, and birthday parties again. Isn't that what we are doing all this for?" Shane asks her.

"Yeah, it is," Alicia says before she leaves the truck. Shane continues to move the supplies.

Carl's P.O.V

Evening

Carl walks outside as Madison and June are making dinner. He walks down to the graves and sits in front of Lori's. "You told me I was going to beat this world. I almost didn't, almost got bit saving someone. I don't know what I expected coming back here. I've made a lot of mistakes, Mom. I wish I could go back and fix them. I have a girlfriend now, and I want to do right by her, Judith, Dad, and you. It seems like killing people has become easier, and I hate that. I was able to gun down two saviors without a second thought, and sure they were the bad guys. I am going to do the hard things, and I am going to make sure there is a future for Judith and all those kids. I love you, Mom and I miss you so much, and I know Dad does too. Bye, Mom," Carl says before he stands up and goes back into the prison. He sees everybody sitting in the resting area. He sits down beside Enid, and Madison gives him a plate.

"We aren't going home after this," Daryl tells them.

"What do you mean? Where are we going?" Rosita asks.

"Grady memorial hospital," Daryl tells them.

"You can't be serious," Carl says. "Coming here was a stretch,"

"What's at the hospital?" Madison asks.

"It's the place Beth died," Rosita says.

"It had a lot of medical supplies and cops that might still be alive. My guess is they aren't," Daryl says.

"And if they are?" Dwight asks.

"We negotiate," Daryl says.

"And if the group is like the saviors or the vultures?" Nick asks.

"We kill them," Daryl says.

"That's the answer?" Morgan asks.

"We know how those groups work. They kill people for their own benefit. We'll be helping people if we kill 'em," Daryl says. "You don't have to come. You can head back to Virginia if you want. We are already here. I ain't giving up a chance to get supplies,"

"We aren't splitting up," John says.

"That we agree on," Alicia says.

"If you are a hundred percent sure you can handle this. Then we'll go, but only if you are a hundred percent sure," June says. "Right?" Everybody nods, looking at Daryl.

"I'm sure," Daryl says.

"Okay, then. Tomorrow we head for the hospital," Morgan says. Everybody nods as they eat and go to bed.

Daryl's P.O.V

Morning

Daryl walks down to Merle's grave as the group loads up the last of the supplies. "You always told me that it was you and me, and I always believed it, and it was true for so long. I wish you could have seen what I saw. It ain't just me anymore, and it won't ever be like that again. I have a family now, and I'm going to keep them safe and make sure they don't turn out like you. Bye Merle," Daryl says before he walks up to the group. He pulls out the keys to Merle's bike. "Dwight," Dwight looks at him. He throws him the keys. "Don't steal this one,"

"Are you sure?" Dwight asks him.

"Yeah," Daryl says. He walks over to his bag and opens it. He looks at Glenn's hat and Hershel's bible. He looks at Carl. "You got the picture?"

"Yeah," Carl says. Daryl nods as he puts his bag on his bike. He looks at Alicia as she comes over.

"Are you ready to go?" Alicia asks him.

"Yeah, let's get going. We can reach the city by night," Daryl tells her. Alicia nods as she climbs on the bike. Daryl starts his bike and drives down the path. He looks at the grave as he passes them. Daryl smirks as he drives out of the prison, followed by the group heading for Grady memorial hospital.

Thanks for reading. That is the prison. The next chapter will be back in Virginia, focusing on Hilltop and Troy. It will be a fun one setting up more of the story there. Now I am going to ask this, and this is entirely up to you guys. Do you guys want Beth to be alive? There have been many stories about this, and I don't know how I feel about it. I fucking hate her death with a passion. Again this is entirely up to you guys. As always, suggestions, ideas, and feedback are welcomed. Until next time.
