Chapter 14-Atlanta
Daryl and the group were a few minutes away from the hospital. Daryl stops the bike when they come across a roadblock. "Was this here?" Alicia asks Daryl from behind him.
"No," Daryl says as he turns his bike off and climbs off. Dwight turns Merle's bike off and climbs off. Everybody starts to leave the cars.
"So, what's the plan then?" Lilly asks. Daryl looks at a building beside them.
"Carl, Enid, Shane, and I will go through there. See if the other road is clear," Daryl says. They nod as Daryl, Shane, Carl, and Enid walk into the building. Shane pulls two flashlights out of his bag and hands one to Daryl. Daryl shines the flashlight as they walk through the building.
"No walkers," Shane says as they get to another door. Daryl and Shane walk into the room first. They feel two guns pressed against the side of their heads.
"Walk on in," The man says. "You try anything. I'll kill those two behind you and if they try anything. You'll die," Daryl and Shane walk into the room, followed by Carl and Enid. "You scream. I'll blow a hole through their head," He says to Carl and Enid. "Throw your weapons," Carl and Enid pull their knives and guns out and throw them to the ground. Another man handcuffs the two teens and puts tape over their mouths.
"I'll kill you all," Shane says.
"If you want them to live, you won't," The man says before he hits Shane in the side of his head with his gun. The other one does the same to Daryl.
John's P.O.V
The group sat against the cars when they heard footsteps behind them. They raise their guns as a woman stops behind the U-Haul. "Woah, I'm here to help. Your friends just went into a trap,"
"What?" June asks.
"Look, your friends are in trouble," The woman says.
"John, take Morgan, Alicia, and Tobias and go find them. Now, we'll deal with her," Madison says. John nods as he goes into the building. They run into a room and see Daryl and Shane on the ground.
"Daryl," Alicia says as she bends down beside him. Alicia starts to shake Daryl as John bends down beside her. Morgan and Tobias start to wake Shane up. Daryl opens his eyes and looks at her. He stands up fast and looks around.
"Where are Carl and Enid?" Morgan asks.
"Get him up," Daryl says as he leaves. John and Alicia follow him.
"Daryl, there is a woman out there. She told us this was a trap," Alicia says.
"It is," Daryl says as he goes outside. Daryl walks up to the woman, who looks at him in shock. He grabs her by the neck and pushes her into the truck.
"Where are they?" Daryl shouts.
"You know me," The woman says.
"Yeah, you're Amanda Shepherd. I remember you. Your men just took two of my people. So you start talking, or I will kill you," Daryl says.
"They aren't my people. The hospital was taken by a group of people a month ago," Amanda says. Daryl looks at Shane, John, and Tobias as they come out of the building.
"So they are at the hospital?" Nick asks Amanda, who nods.
"They gave us a choice. Stay or leave. A few of us left," Amanda says. "We want to kill them. They take people, and they kill 'em. But we never had enough people. If you help, we do,"
"How many left?" Daryl asks.
"Two of us," Amanda says.
"So fifteen of us," Daryl says. "Fine," Daryl lets Amanda go. "How far is your base?"
"A few blocks. I saw you, and I ran. I didn't know it was you at the time," Amanda says. Daryl nods as they get back in their cars. Amanda climbs on the back of Dwight's bike, and they follow Dwight to a small building. They park their cars. Everybody gets out.
"I only want Daryl to follow me in," Amanda says.
"No," Morgan says.
"Please. I'm not risking my chance to kill these bastards," Amanda says.
"Fine," Daryl says. Amanda nods as she leads Daryl inside.
Daryl's P.O.V
Daryl follows Amanda inside and looks around. She points towards a room. "Go in there," Amanda says. "Come out when you are done," Amanda walks away from Daryl, who walks towards the door. The door opens before he gets to it, and Daryl stops in his tracks.
"Daryl," Beth Greene says.
"You ain't real," Daryl says as he shakes his head. "I saw you die," Beth walks up to Daryl slowly and lays her hand on his cheek.
"I'm real," Beth says. "I'm alive," Daryl wraps his arms around Beth and lifts the woman up. He sets her down and looks. Beth wraps her arms around him and lays her head on his chest. Daryl doesn't say anything as tears go down his face.
"I saw Dawn shoot you," Daryl says. Beth lets Daryl go and backs up. She lifts her hair on her forehead and shows a scar on her head.
"I didn't kill me. My breathing was really swallowed when they found me. It's rare, but people have survived these kinds of wounds. Doctor Stevens told me that," Beth says.
"A herd came, and we put your body in a car. Never got to bury you," Daryl says.
"I'm glad you didn't," Beth says as she sits Daryl down. "I was in a coma for a while. I woke up a week before that group showed up. I didn't want to leave Amanda alone. I didn't know what had happened to all of you," Daryl wipes the tears off his face. "What happened to Maggie? Is she alive?" Daryl nods.
"After we left, Maggie and I weren't in a good place. Hell, I think part of both of us wish we were dead," Daryl says. "We found a place called Alexandria, and slowly she got better,"
"That's good. What about Noah?" Beth asks.
"He's dead," Daryl says. "We took him home. Everybody there was dead, and Tyreese got bit, and he died too. After we got to Alexandria, Glenn and Noah went with two more of our people Tara, and Eugene. They also went with two people from Alexandria. Aiden and Nicholas. Aiden died, and Noah, Glenn, and Nicholas got trapped in a revolving door. One side had walkers, and Nicholas got out by pushing the door, and the walkers got Noah. Glenn made it out. Nicholas is dead," Daryl says. Beth nods.
"Who's all dead?" She asks.
"Bob, Sasha, Tyreese, and Glenn," Daryl says.
"How?" Beth asks.
"Bob got bit and lost his leg before Rick came here. Tyreese got bit. Sasha killed herself to give us a chance against a group called the saviors," Daryl says. "One of the saviors killed someone named Dennis, and I saved the savior before. I went after him with Michonne, Rosita, and Glenn. They caught and lined us up with the rest of the group. They killed a man named Abraham first, and I punched Negan. Negan killed Glenn because of what I did," Daryl says. "Maggie's pregnant," Beth nods as she wipes tears from her eyes.
"Who's all with you?" Beth asks.
"Carl," Daryl says. "They took him and his girlfriend, Enid,"
"You're going to kill them, aren't you?" Beth asks.
"Yeah, I ain't making that mistake again," Daryl says as he stands. He looks at Beth. "I won't lose anybody else here," Beth stands up and hugs Daryl again. "You were right,"
"About what?" Beth asks.
"I missed you," Daryl says as he holds her. "I missed you so damn much," Beth smiles.
"I'm coming with you this time," Beth says as she lets Daryl go. "Now, let's go save Carl and Enid. Then we can go to wherever you call home," Daryl nods as Beth starts to walk outside.
"Beth," Daryl says. Beth looks at him. "Shane's alive. He's out there. You and him seem to like surviving death," Beth smiles as she walks outside. Shane looks at her.
"Beth?" Shane says. Daryl follows them. Beth walks up to Shane and hugs him.
"Is this the Beth that you escaped the prison with?" Morgan asks. Daryl nods.
"Seems like people in my group like to escape death," Daryl says.
"Maggie is going to be happy," Shane says as he lets her go.
"I buried Hershel," Daryl tells Beth.
"Thank you," Beth says.
"Now what?" Madison asks.
"We make a plan," Daryl says. "Grab everything," They nod as they get food, guns, and water out of the cars and go inside the building. They all go inside the building.
Carl's P.O.V
Carl and Enid sat inside the hospital inside a room. The door was locked. "What do we do?" Enid asks Carl.
"They'll come for us," Carl says. "Until then, we do what they say and when they do come. We get out," Enid nods as the door opens and Doctor Edwards walks in. An officer follows him in.
"Why don't you two tell us about yourselves?" Edwards says.
"Why don't you go to hell," Enid says. Carl looks at Enid.
"What happened to your eye?" Edwards asks Carl.
"I got shot," Carl says. "Let us go,"
"I can't do that. The people who run this place will kill us. We stopped taking people after an incident," Edwards says.
"You mean when Dawn killed Beth," Carl says. Edwards looks at the officer. "Leave us," The officer leaves the room.
"You know Beth?" Edwards asks.
"My Dad is Rick Grimes," Carl says.
"Is your Dad here?" Edwards ask
"No, Daryl is," Carl says.
"Look, these people are assholes. I help you, and you help me," Edwards says. "Your friend won't make the same mistake he did last time. He'll kill everybody here. Make sure I'm not one of them, and I'll help you," Carl and Enid look at each other and nod.
"Fine," Carl says.
"Amanda and Beth most likely found them," Edwards says.
"Beth?" Carl asks. "She's alive?"
"Yes," Edward says. "She survived. She left with Amanda when these men arrived. I'll get you your guns," Edwards says before he leaves.
"Are we trusting him?" Enid asks Carl.
"Yeah," Carl says as the door is locked once again.
Daryl's P.O.V
Daryl sat against a wall watching Beth as she talked with Nick and Cyndie. Morgan walks over to Daryl and sits down beside him. "I expect her to disappear," Daryl says.
"Are any more people you thought were dead going to show up?" Morgan asks Daryl.
"I don't think so," Daryl says. "You might want to sit this one out," Morgan looks at Daryl, confused. "Nobody in that hospital right now besides Carl and Enid are leaving that place alive. I know how you feel about killing people,"
"You don't have to kill them all," Morgan says.
"I ain't taking a risk this time. We took a risk with Beth, and I thought she was dead. I ain't taking that kind of chance this time. Anybody who isn't ready to kill the people in that hospital will stay here," Daryl says before he stands up and walks away. Daryl walks over to Beth as Nick and Cyndie walk away. Daryl pulls Beth's knife out of the holster and holds it out to her.
"Keep it," Beth says. "I have one," Daryl nods as he puts the knife away.
"We're ready," Amanda says from a table where she was drawing the hospital. Everybody walks over to Amanda.
"So, do you have a plan?" Amanda asks him.
"Yeah," Daryl says. "We gotta do this quietly, at least until we can find Carl and Enid," Daryl looks at the group. "Let me make something clear here. Nobody besides us, Carl, and Enid leave that hospital. We kill every one of them if you can't do that. You stay here," Daryl looks at Morgan and John.
"I'm not letting Rick go through what I have. I know what it is like to lose a son. He doesn't need to go through that. I'm coming," Morgan says.
"As I said after you got shot. I'm with you. But I won't like it," John says. Daryl nods.
"We'll all split into groups. Three people in a group. Cyndie, Nick, and Lilly will take the kitchen. You know where they sleep?" Daryl asks Amanda, who nods. "You, Dwight, and Rosita will take where they sleep. John, June, and Shane will take the armory. Madison, Morgan, and Tobias will take the main hallway. Beth, Alicia, and I will find Carl and Enid," Daryl says as he points out the areas on the map.
"How many people are in there?" June asks.
"At least two dozen," Beth says.
"We move at night while most of them are sleeping," Daryl says.
"What if we find patients in the room?" Madison asks.
"There won't be. They are usually dead after a day or two," Amanda says.
"Make sure all of our guns have supposers," Daryl says. Everybody nods as they separate. Daryl stares at the map. Beth walks up beside him. "I wish you weren't coming,"
"I know, but I have to see this through," Beth says. Daryl nods as he stands up straight. Daryl walks away and starts to help put suppressors on guns getting ready for tonight.
