Chapter 15-Grady Memorial Hospital
Daryl's P.O.V
Daryl was putting supposers on guns when Alicia walked over to him. She sat down beside him. "Most be good seeing Beth again," Alicia says to Daryl.
"It will be better when Carl and Enid are safe. I ain't losing anybody else in this god-awful city," Daryl says to her. Alicia nods as she stands up to leave. "You okay?" Daryl asks her. "You seem a little out of it,"
"I'm just worried. This can go wrong very fast," Alicia says to him.
"These people don't sound like the type for a hostage negotiation anyway," Daryl says as Morgan walks over to them. "What is it?"
"Two men are outside. They want you," Morgan says. Daryl nods as he stands up. He walks and motions for John to follow him. John follows Daryl outside to the two men who were standing out there.
"Which one of you is the leader of these people?" The man asks.
"Me," Daryl says to him.
"Look, I get it. You want your people. But those two are young and will be good workers. So here are your choices. You have 24 hours to leave Atlanta. If you aren't gone, we'll kill them, and then we'll kill you," The man says. "You have a good day," The man says before they walk back to their car and leave.
"We aren't listening to those assholes, are we?" John asks.
"Hell no," Daryl says as he walks back inside. He walks over to Amanda. "Is there a building nearby you can see inside the hospital and the floor they would keep Carl and Enid on?"
"Yeah," Amanda says. "Why?"
"Because those fuckers are going to be prepared in case someone comes. They'll have more guards out," Daryl says.
"Do you think they know we are coming?" Tobias asks.
"No, they don't know how many of us are here. And they don't know the firepower we have. They were trying to scare us," Daryl says. "How far is the closest building to the hospital with a good vantage point of the entrance?" Daryl asks Amanda and Beth.
"Less than a block," Amanda says. Daryl nods.
"You'll show Madison, Morgan, and Tobias the building. You will go up there with snipers and take out any guards at the main entrance," Daryl tells the three people who nod. "We got a few hours till night. Finish with the guns and get some sleep," They all nod as they walk away.
Carl's P.O.V
Carl and Enid sat in the room Edwards left them. They look at the door as it opens, and a man walks in. "Hey, I am Tyler," Tyler says. "I'm the leader of this place,"
"We want to leave," Enid says.
"Why, you'll be alone. My men just talked with your leader, and they left," Tyler says to them. "So you can stay here and make a life for yourselves here or die,"
"How long do we have to stay in this room?" Carl asks.
"A day," Tyler says. "You'll have dinner brought to you, and Edwards will check you before you eat, and tomorrow, you will have one more check before you are let out and start to work,"
"Work?" Enid asks.
"We saved you and brought you to a new safe home," Tyler says as he walks closer to Enid. He brings his finger down her cheek. "We'll find what your skills are, and we'll use them," Carl stares at the man. "Have a good day," Tyler says with a smirk before he leaves.
"I'll kill him," Enid says to him.
"I'll help," Carl says as he sits back down. "You know he's full of shit, right?"
"Yeah, Daryl isn't stupid enough to return to Maggie without me or return to your Dad without you," Enid says. Carl nods with a smirk as he sits back down.
Shane's P.O.V
Shane walks over to Madison and sits down beside his girlfriend. Madison smiles at him. "What's up?" Madison asks Shane.
"Tonight might be our last night alive," Shane says.
"We'll beat these fuckers, and we won't die," Madison says to him. "We've been through hell and back, and we have always found our way back to each other," Madison says. "And if one of us do die. We'll find our way back to each someday," Shane kisses Madison and leans his head against her forehead.
"Will you marry me?" Shane asks Madison, who looks at him.
"Are you serious?" Madison asks Shane as he reaches into his pocket. He pulls out a ring.
"I took it from the pawnshop," Shane says. "I was a broken man after the farm. I thought I would die alone, and I met you, Alicia, and Nick. You restored the life in me. All of you did and living my life without you after the stadium was some of the hardest days of my life. I love you, Madison, and I want to spend however many days we have left on this fucked up planet together. Even if it's just tonight, I want to spend it knowing I was with the woman I loved so, Madison Clark. Will you marry me?" Shane asks her.
"Yes," Madison says before she kisses him. Shane puts the ring on her finger and kisses her again. "Now we are going to save Carl and Enid, and then we are going home," Shane nods as John walks into the room.
"It's time," John says. Shane and Madison nod as they stand up and walk over to John.
Enid's P.O.V
Enid and Carl look at the door as it opens, and Edwards walks in with two plates of food. He sets them down and shuts and locks the door. "Do you have them?" Carl asks Edwards, who nods as he takes two guns out of his coat and sets them down.
"I've fulfilled my part of the deal," Edwards says as Enid and Carl check the clips. "They are yours. Full clips,"
"Won't they check?" Carl asks.
"No, they don't do inventory," Edwards says. "Will your people come tonight?"
"Yes," Carl says. "Don't sleep, and make sure you tell them before they kill you. If you see them, you lead them here," Edwards nods as he leaves the room.
"Are we going to keep him alive?" Enid asks.
"He's another doctor," Carl says.
"So is Lilly, and I trust her more, and we met her a few days ago," Enid says.
"We'll figure it out," Carl says. Enid nods as they hide the guns.
Morgan's P.O.V
Morgan, Madison, and Tobias go up the stairs of a building. They get to the side and look through their sniper scopes and over to the hospital. "I see two guards," Tobias says. Morgan pulls his radio out.
"Daryl, we have two guards," Morgan says.
"Kill them and let us know when to move," Daryl says.
"Tobias watch and make sure no more come out," Madison says. "Are you sure you can do this?" Morgan nods. "You take the guy on the right, and I'll take the one on the left,"
"On the count of three," Morgan says. Madison nods. "One...two...three," Morgan says before they both fire. The bullets go through the head of the men. "Move," Morgan says into the radio.
"Let's go," Madison says as they head to the stairs.
Dwight's P.O.V
Dwight and Amanda move the bodies and go inside first. They waved their guns around, making sure there were no men. "Clear," Dwight says outside. The group follows them inside.
"The fifth floor is where we are going," Beth says. June opens the door to the stairwell, and they start to go up the stairs. They move up the stairs quietly. They hear footsteps as they get close to the fourth floor. The man turns a corner and Dwight, and Amanda both shoot him. Two bullets enter his chest, and one goes through his head. The man goes back into the wall and slides down. They get up to the fifth floor and stop.
"We all know our jobs," Daryl says. "Good luck," They nod as they got onto the floor and split up.
Nick's P.O.V
Nick, Cyndie, and Lilly move towards the kitchen. They stop around the corner and see the door. They see a man standing in front of the door. Nick turns the corner and shoots the man through the head. He falls to the ground, and they go to the door. Cyndie pulls the man behind the door as it opens. "Man, what the hell was that?" Another man asks as he comes out. Nick puts his hand over his mouth and pushes him into the wall. He slams his knife into the top of the man's head, killing him.
"Amanda said three men would be in here," Cyndie says. Lilly nods as she opens the door.
"What was Mike doing?" The man asks as he is cooking. Lilly shoots him in the back of the head, making him fall to the ground.
"Bring them in," Lilly says to Nick and Cyndie, who pull the other two men into the room. Lilly goes to the door leading into the cafeteria and looks outside. She walks back over to them. "Two sleeping," They nod as they open the door slowly and go outside. Nick goes up to the first man sleeping and stabs him in the head as Cyndie kills another. They drag their bodies into the kitchen.
"Kitchen's clear," Cyndie says.
Rosita's P.O.V
Rosita, Amanda, and Dwight slowly enter the room where the men sleep. There were six men sleeping in the room. They nod to each other as they slowly move to one man each. They all pull a knife out and stab a man in the head. They move towards the other three men. Dwight brings his knife up, and the man swings his fist, hitting Dwight in the head. Dwight falls back, and the other two men wake up. Rosita slits one's throat, and Amanda pushes the other one against the wall as the man who hit Dwight grabs his gun. Dwight grabs his hand, and the man fires his gun. The gunshot echoes as Rosita shoots the man in the head, and Amanda stabs the man she was fighting with in the neck.
"Shit," Amanda says. "We gotta get to the armory," They nod as they leave the room with her.
John's P.O.V
John, June, and Shane go down the hall after the gunshot. June shoots a man in the chest as he comes down the hall. They stop by a hall, and John looks down where the three men who are guarding the armory are. They shoot, and the bullets hit the wall. "We got flashbangs," Shane says as he opens his bag.
"June make sure nobody else comes," John says. June nods as she covers them. Shane and John both grab a flashbang and pull the clip. They throw them down the hall, and they hear them go off. John and Shane aim down the hall. John shoots two of the men in the center of the forehead with his revolvers, and Shane kills the third one. They move down the hall and get into the armory. June shoots a man as he comes down the hall.
Carl's P.O.V
When the door opened, Carl and Enid were by the bed, and two men came in with guns. They pulled their guns out and shot the men three times. Carl and Enid raise their guns again. Daryl and Alicia look into the room, and they lower their guns. "Took you long enough," Carl says as they come into the room, followed by Beth. "You're really alive," Carl says to the blond who smiles at him.
"We'll talk when we get out of this hellhole," Beth says to Carl, who nods.
"Daryl, a man named Edwards helped us. Gave us guns and fed us. We told we would let him live," Enid says. Daryl looks at them and nods.
"We'll talk about it," Daryl says. "Have you met their leader?"
"Yeah, he's a real prick," Carl says as they hear more footsteps. They raise their guns and see Morgan, Madison, and Tobias.
"We didn't see anybody," Morgan says.
"Beth, Carl, Alicia, and I will go after the leader. Enid take those three and find Edwards," Daryl says to them. They nod as they split up.
Daryl's P.O.V
Beth stops by a door. "This is it. This is Dawn's old office," Beth says. Daryl says. Daryl nods to Alicia, who kicks the door open. She moves to the side as a bullet goes where she was. "There are four of us and one of you," Daryl says.
"Fuck you," Tyler says. Alicia hands Daryl a flashbang. He pulls the clip and throws it into the room. When it goes off, Daryl goes into the room and hits Tyler in the face. He kicks the gun away.
"Go find the others and go outside," Daryl says to them as he puts his crossbow down.
"Daryl-," Beth starts to say.
"Go," Daryl says. "I'll be out in a few minutes," Alicia grabs Beth's arm and leads her out of the room. Carl shuts the door, and Tyler looks at him. Daryl kicks him in the face making his nose bleed. He grabs him by his shirt and starts to punch him. Daryl could feel the pain in his hand as he lets Tyler fall to the ground. Tyler coughs and looks at him. Daryl grabs Tyler by his shirt and starts to drag the man. He drags him out to the hallway all the way to the room he found Carl in. He sets Tyler down and checks the two men. "They'll turn," Daryl pulls out his handgun and shoots Tyler in both of the legs, making the man scream. He shuts the door and locks it before he goes back to the room and grabs his crossbow. He leaves the room and walks through the hospital, heading for the main entrance. Daryl walks outside and sees the group waiting for him with Edwards, who had been handcuffed. Shane was holding him.
"He's dead?" Amanda asks him.
"He'll be soon enough. The walkers will have dinner," Daryl says. "You get any supplies?"
"We loaded up what guns they had and some food. We'll search the lower floors for the medical equipment and supplies," June says.
"Dwight bring the U-Haul here," Daryl says. Dwight and Amanda nod as they leave. Daryl looks at Beth. "You know him best. What do we do with him?" Daryl asks Beth as he looks at Edwards.
"I don't know. Doctors are needed, but if it comes down to him or us. He'll save himself," Beth says. Daryl walks up to Edwards.
"You make one wrong move, and I'm putting a bullet through your head," Daryl says. Edwards nods. "Let's get this done," Daryl says as they head back inside to get supplies. The group moves medicine and medical equipment outside to the U-Haul. They work until morning. The group had moved back to the building after they finished at the hospital. They all stood outside.
"What's the plan now?" Carl asks.
"Let's all get some sleep. We'll leave in a few hours and head home," Daryl says. They all nod as they went inside. Daryl lays down against the wall and closes his eyes as he falls to sleep after a long time.
