Chapter 18-Home
Maggie's P.O.V
Maggie is awoken to someone pounding on her door. "Maggie!" Charlie shouts from the other side of the door.
"What, Charlie?" Maggie asks.
"Daryl's back," Charlie says. Maggie's eyes snap open, and she gets out of bed quickly. She puts on her pants, boots, and coat on before she leaves the room and downstairs. She pushes the door open as Daryl gets off his bike. Maggie smiles as she runs up to Daryl and hugs him. Daryl wraps his arms around her.
"I'm so glad you're back," Maggie says as she lets him go.
"Good to be back," Daryl says. "You should go to the R.V," Maggie looks at him, confused for a moment before she walks past him to the R.V. As Maggie gets close, the door opens, and Beth steps out. Maggie stops and looks at Beth, who stares right back at her.
"Beth?" Maggie says as she takes a slow set forwards.
"Maggie," Beth says with a grin. Maggie runs into her sister's arms, wrapping her in a hug as they both start to cry. Maggie and Beth go to their knees as they hold each other. Behind them, Tara looks at Daryl.
"She was in Atlanta. She survived," Daryl says.
"That's one hell of a miracle," Tara says.
"It isn't the only one," Alicia says as Lilly gets out of the U-Haul and walks around the side. Tara stares at her sister in shock as Lilly walks up to Tara and wraps her arm around her sister. Tara hugs her sister as tears go down her face. Charlie and Al go up to Daryl and hug him.
"You have missed a lot," Al tells him. "But that can wait," Al goes up to Morgan next and hugs him. Daryl smiles at Charlie.
"Told ya I'd be back," Daryl says. Daryl looks at Maggie and Beth, who are still hugging each other. Tara pulls back from Lilly and looks her up and down.
"I saw you die," Tara says as tears go down her eyes.
"I got bit," Lilly says as she moves her stump. "But I didn't die," Tara brings her sister back into a hug. Al walks up to June.
"Yes, I recorded everything. You have everything from the prison," June says. Al smiles as she hugs her. She then hugs John.
"Where's Luciana?" Nick asks her.
"Campgrounds with Alden. They are keeping watch," Al tells him. Maggie slowly lets Beth go and looks her sister up and down. She moves her hair out of the way and looks at the scar on her head.
"They kept me alive," Beth says as the group slowly gets out of the car. "Amanda and Edwards,"
"I never thought I'd see you again," Maggie says as she wipes the tears from her eyes.
"Neither did I," Beth says. "But I'm here, and I'm not going anywhere," Al looks at the trucks as she goes back over to Daryl and Morgan.
"It looks like you guys did good," Al says.
"We did," Morgan says. He looks at Lilly and Beth. "I may never get to see my family again. But I'm glad I got to help bring them back to theirs,"
"You still have family," Daryl says.
"I know," Morgan says. Al looks at Daryl. Carl smiles as he looks at Beth and Maggie. Carl thought back to when Rick found them at the quarry.
"How did the warehouse go?" Daryl asks Al.
"It's clear. We started moving supplies yesterday. Rick and Daniel have been running it with Jesus and Aaron," Al tells him. Maggie and Beth slowly stand up, still holding each other. Maggie lets Beth go for a moment and hugs Enid.
"I'm glad to see you home," Maggie says to Enid.
"I'm glad I'm home," Enid tells him. Maggie looks at Shane and nods. Shane nods back to her.
"Let's go inside, and we will fill you in on everything that has happened," Maggie says as she wraps her arm around Beth. Daryl nods as the group heads inside.
Daryl's P.O.V
Daryl, Alicia, John, Morgan, June, Dwight, Rosita, Madison, Shane, Nick, Tobias, Lilly, Amanda, Edwards, Carl, Enid, Rosita, Cyndie, Al, Maggie, Tara, and Charlie stood inside Maggie's office. Maggie looks at Morgan and Daryl. "The night of the party, five saviors took guns and supplies from Hilltop. The next day after the party, Alden, Luciana, Strand, Cole, and Troy hunted them down and killed them. Troy, Luciana, and Alden went to the Sanctuary the next day, and Troy stayed there as a spy. A few days later, they attacked Hilltop. They killed Lucas and Will. They are calling themselves the true saviors," Maggie says.
"Have you talked to Negan?" Carl asks.
"He says he doesn't know anything about it," Maggie says. "They haven't attacked since,"
"That is something to come back to," John says.
"Yeah, it is," Daryl says. "That is a problem for tomorrow,"
"Today, let's unload the supplies. Check on the campgrounds, and you four can catch up," Morgan says as he looks at Beth, Maggie, Lilly, and Tara.
"I agree," Maggie says as there was a knock at the door.
"Maggie Rick's here," Kal says.
"We'll be out in a minute," Maggie says. "Come on," They leave the room and walk outside as Rick and Michonne walk through the gate with Judith and Eugene.
"You're back," Rick says as he walks up to Daryl and hugs him. He looks behind Daryl and sees Beth.
"Beth?" Rick says as he lets Daryl go. Beth smiles as she goes up to Rick and hugs him.
"Hey, Rick," Beth says. Rick wraps his arms around the blond. Beth lets Rick go and hugs Michonne. Rick looks at Amanda.
"Rick," Amanda says.
"Amanda," Rick says as Michonne hands Judith to Beth.
"Hey, sweetie," Beth says with a grin. "You've grown up so much," Rick and Michonne hug Carl as Rosita hugs Eugene.
"What are you guys doing here? I thought you were at the warehouse," Al says.
"I'm glad you're here," Rick says to Daryl. Rick pulls the note Eugene got out of his pocket and hands it to Daryl. Daryl reads the note and looks at Eugene.
"They are after you," Daryl says. "How does this involve me?"
"We need Eugene to go to the campgrounds. The Saviors might not know where it is. That's the safest place for him," Rick says.
"Makes sense," Rosita says.
"Also, Daryl Alden is going to stay with you for a little while," Maggie says. Daryl nods.
"Nick, why don't you, Dwight, Rosita, Amanda, and Eugene go to the campgrounds," Daryl says.
"We'll go with them," Madison says. "Shane and I can drive the U-Haul," Daryl looks at Edwards.
"You are staying here," Daryl says. "Siddiq can go back to Alexandria. Edwards will stay here,"
"Okay," Edwards says.
"I should go to the campgrounds. I can start to set up the infirmary," June says.
"Where's Carol?" Beth asks them.
"She should be at the warehouse," Al says.
"Also, who are they?" Michonne asks as she looks at Lilly and Tobias.
"I'm Tara's sister," Lilly says.
"The dead sister?" Rick asks. Lilly nods.
"And this is Tobias. He was a student in my high school before the turn," Madison says. "He'll be joining us at the campgrounds," Rick nods as he looks at Daryl.
"Do you want to come to the warehouse?" Rick asks Daryl.
"Yeah," He says. "You three want to come with me?" John, Alicia, and Morgan nod.
"Okay, we'll be back later," Daryl says. He hugs Beth before he goes back to his bike.
"You want to watch her?" Rick asks Beth, who was still holding Judith.
"Sure," Beth says as she smiles at the toddler. "That okay?" She asks her sister, who nods. Everybody nods as they go to their separate cars. John and Morgan climb into the S.W.A.T van with Al. Alicia climbs on the back of Daryl's bike, and they leave Hilltop as the others follow. Maggie smiles at Beth as they go inside.
Alden's P.O.V
Alden was burning the bodies of the walkers that had shown up. They had patched the holes in the wall. Luciana walks over to them as they hear cars. "It looks like they are back," Alden says. Luciana nods as the group pulls in with the two trucks, U-Haul and the trailer. Nick gets out of the passenger side of the truck and goes up to Luciana. He hugs his girlfriend, who hugs him back.
"How are things going here?" Dwight asks Alden as he walks up to him.
"Got the holes patched," Alden says. "Where are Daryl, John, Morgan, and Alicia?"
"They are going to the warehouse," Amanda says. Alden looks at her. "I'm Amanda,"
"Alden," He says to her. "We haven't been to the lake yet if you guys want to go check that out,"
"We'll get that after we unload the supplies," Madison says. "We need to get Cyndie the guns she is owed.
"That can wait a little bit," Cyndie says. "We should start to unload all the supplies,"
"How does the inside of the cabins look?" June asks.
"No, bad. The ones that need to be fixed won't take more than a few hours," Alden says.
"Okay, then. Let's get to work," Shane says.
"Alden, a moment?" Dwight asks him. Alden nods as he walks off with Dwight. "Do you have any idea who these True Saviors might be?"
"No, I'm assuming Eugene is here because they threatened," Alden says to Dwight, who nods. "Dwight if they are after him,"
"They'll be after me," Dwight says. "I figured when Rick handed Daryl the note. Let them come," Alden nods as they walk over to the rest of the group and start to help them.
Beth's P.O.V
Beth sat on Maggie's bed in her room. Judith was sleeping in the middle of the bed. Beth looks at Maggie as she walks into the room. "I still can't believe you are here," Maggie says as she walks over to her.
"I can't either. When I woke up, I never thought I would see you again," Beth says as Maggie sits down. "Daryl said it was bad after,"
"It was," Maggie says. "Carl and Sasha helped me a lot, and finding Alexandria made it better,"
"What happened to Daddy's watch after Glenn died?" Beth asks.
"Enid has it," Maggie says. "She was a daughter to Glenn. He cared about her, and so do I. I figured she was the best person to hold onto it," Maggie says. "Did Daryl tell you how he died?"
"Yeah, he also told me you're pregnant," Beth says.
"Yeah," Maggie says. "Soon, I'm going to be stuck in Hilltop,"
"You and baby will be safe, and that's all that matters," Beth says.
"You're staying here, right?" Maggie asks Beth, who nods.
"Yeah, I'm not going anywhere," Beth tells her. Maggie nods as she pulls her sister into another hug.
Daryl's P.O.V
Daryl stops his bike outside the warehouse and climbs off with Alicia. Daniel, Aaron, Troy, Laura, Daniel, Carol, and Ezekiel walk outside. "You're back," Carol says as she goes up and hugs him.
"Yeah," Daryl says.
"Everybody okay?" Aaron asks as he hugs Daryl.
"Yeah, I came back with a few people," Daryl says.
"What are their names?" Daniel asks.
"Amanda and Edwards," Morgan says.
"Amanda Shepherd and Doctor Edwards?" Carol asks Daryl, who nods.
"And Beth," Rick says as he walks up to him.
"Maggie's sister?" Aaron asks.
"Yeah, she's alive," Daryl tells Carol. "She's at Hilltop," Carol smiles.
"Go see her, Carol. We'll finish," Jesus says. Carol nods as she walks away, with Ezekiel following her.
"Where are Strand and Cole?" Alicia asks.
"Alexandria. They are packing our things. We planned on moving into the campgrounds tonight," Daniel says.
"How is everything at the Sanctuary?" Daryl asks Troy.
"Good, They are starting to trust me. Rick, you need to go get Gabriel," Troy says.
"He's sick," Laura says.
"No, he's not. He's in a cabin about two hours from the Sanctuary. I can't keep going there to feed him. Jed thinks he's dead. He can't find out he's alive," Troy says.
"We'll move him," Rick says. "Daryl, if they know where the campgrounds are. That won't last long. They want Eugene, and they will want Dwight,"
"We know," Daryl says. "We need to get to work. Negan knows nothing, right?"
"If he does, he isn't telling us," Michonne says. "If he does, he won't tell us unless we offer him something in return,"
"We are not negotiating with Negan," Rick says.
"Agreed," Aaron says. "Negan needs to die in that cell,"
"He will," Daryl says. "Do you want to show us inside?"
"Sure," Daniel says as he leads them inside.
Dwight's P.O.V
Dwight was helping June move the medical supplies into the infirmary. He walks back to the truck and sees Rosita leaning against it. "Are you going to help?" Dwight asks her.
"Yeah," Rosita says as she follows him. "What were you and Alden talking about?"
"The True Saviors," Dwight says. "I hope you don't think either of us is somehow a part of it,"
"I don't," Rosita says as she grabs a bag. "But you'll be looking around the woods ever since you two got done talking. What are you thinking about Dwight?"
"They'll be after me. I'm starting to think it would be safer for everybody if I left," Dwight says. "It will be easier for you guys to protect Eugene,"
"You aren't leaving. You have earned your place here, Dwight, and those assholes are not going to be the reason you leave. It's okay to be scared, Dwight. It's not okay to let that fear control you," Rosita says before she walks away. Dwight grabs another back and follows her.
