Chapter 39-The time is coming

Two months later

June's P.O.V

June looks at Alicia as she sits down. "No, Daryl?" June asks.

"He's helping Shane," Alicia answers.

"How are you feeling?" June asks her.

"Fine," Alicia says.

"One more month. You are almost there," June reassures her.

"I don't know if Daryl will live that long before I use my barrel to kill him," Alicia mumbles, causing June to chuckle.

"I know it is annoying now, but it shows that he is worried and will do anything to help," June says.

"I know, but he hasn't left the campgrounds in a month," Alicia says.

"I know that John is planning on fishing at the lake today. Maybe he can take Daryl," June offers.

"Please ask," Alicia says. June nods as she continues the checkup.

Maggie's P.O.V

Maggie stood on the balcony of Barrington house. She turned around when she heard a knock. "Hey, Maggie," Reilly says.

"What are you doing here?" Maggie asks him.

"I need the Hilltop's help," Reilly says.

"With what?" Maggie asks.

"No food grows at the Sanctuary. It won't last much longer. We are running out of food," Reilly explains.

"I can't trade food if you don't have anything to offer," Maggie says.

"I don't need your food. You grew up on a farm, right?" Reilly asks Maggie, who nods. He sets the map down. "I've marked some places down here that could work as our new home. I wanted you to look at it." Maggie walks over to the table and looks at the map.

"Have you been to any of these places?" Maggie asks.

"No, the only savior that will leave the Santaurcy right now is Arat, and I need her there," Reilly explains.

"Go wait outside," Maggie says.

"Why?" Reilly asks.

"Because I'm taking you to these places," Maggie says.

"What about Hershel?" Reilly asks.

"Al can watch him for a little bit," Maggie says. Reilly nods. "Get Carl, Enid." He nods as he leaves.

Tara's P.O.V

Tara hits the window of a store and puts her back against the wall as she looks at Beth. "Riding horses this far will never be comfortable," Tara comments.

"We gotta save gas. We have solar panels set up in most of the communities, but this requires fewer resources," Beth explains.

"You wouldn't have a problem with it. You grew up on a farm and rode horses," Tara retorts.

"Fair enough," Beth says as a walker hits the window. "Took long enough," Beth walks away from the door and pulls out her bow, and pulls an arrow out. She notches the arrow and pulls the bowstring back. She nods to Tara, who opens the door. The walker comes out, and Beth releases the arrow. It goes into the walkers head, killing it. Beth grabs the arrow out of the walkers head and puts the arrow away before she follows Tara into the store.

Reilly's P.O.V

Reilly looks at Maggie as she drives a car down the road. Enid and Carl sat in the back. "Why are you helping me? Helping the saviors?" Reilly questions. He had been wondering since they left Hilltop.

"Because the sanctuary is a drain on supplies," Maggie answers. "Fixing that place and feeding all of you has taken more resources than it is worth. At least at this place, you'll be able to grow your own food and won't have to take from the rest of us."

"I never lived there. You know that. I lived at the outpost that your people took. That place would have worked, but it's gone," Reilly says. "You wish Rick had killed us all," Reilly states.

"You killed a lot of people. Some of your people will never change. Jed proved that," Maggie says.

"Jed and Negan aren't all of us. I didn't kill Glenn," Reilly says. Maggie glares at him. "The saviors are just like you. We did what we had to so we could live. We joined Negan so a walker wouldn't tear our throats out. We may not have liked what he did, but you do what you have to so you can survive."

"You killed innocent people," Maggie says.

"Nobody's innocent anymore, Maggie. You killed innocent people too. But at least we had the decency to do it while you were awake," Reilly growls at her. Maggie stays silent as they continue to drive.

Daryl's P.O.V

Daryl walked through the woods with John. He looked back towards camp. "If you look back at camp again, I'm going to walk behind you and hit you in the neck every time you turn around," John says. Daryl nods. "I get it. You are worried, but both you and Alicia need a break. So we are going to fish, and she is going to do whatever the hell she wants."

"Okay," Daryl says as they arrive at the lake.

"How many times have you fished?" John questions him

"I had a stream and small lake near my house as a kid. When I couldn't get food with my bow, I would take my Pa's fishing pole and fish," Daryl explains to John, who nods.

"My Dad took me finishing a few times before he disappeared," John says as he casts his line. "I taught June while she was at the cabin?" John says as he takes a piece of candy out and puts it in his mouth. He holds one out to Daryl, who grabs it.

Alicia's P.O.V

Alicia was sitting at the table reading a book about babies during their first year. "Looks like I didn't waste my time grabbing it," Negan says as he walks into the big cabin. Alicia looks at him.

"This is the first time I've read it. Daryl read it when you brought it back," Alicia says to Negan with a small smile. Negan nods as he sits down.

"Do you guys have names?" Negan asks as he looks at her.

"Yeah, my Mom knows the girl's name, but we are waiting for the birth," Alicia tells Negan, who nods. He looks at the empty glass beside her.

"You need some water?" Negan asks her. Alicia nods, and Negan grabs the glass and walks over to the sink.

"Did you think you would be doing this a few months ago?" Alicia asks Negan, who looks at her with a smile.

"I thought I would be rotting in a cell or dead," Negan says as he walks back over to her and sets the glass down. "I still sleep with one eye open, worried that one of you or Maggie will sneak in here and put a bullet in my dome."

"Nobody is going to hurt you, Negan. You are one of us. You're part of this family. Everybody here may give you shit, but we care about you. Shane considers you one of his best friends," Alicia reassures him. "If Maggie if decides to try and put a bullet in your dome. She'll have to deal with us."

"I would rather her shoot me than hurt any of you. Especially you. The mini you and Daryl inside of your belly is the future of this world. They are the next generation. I'm a man who has made a lot of bad decisions, and I will not have you guys get hurt because of that," Negan sats as he sits.

"Well, let's hope it doesn't come to that," Alicia says to Negan, who grins.

"Let's hope," Negan says. They two sit in peaceful silence as Alicia continues to read.

Reilly's P.O.V

Reilly steps out of the car and looks at Carl and Enid as they get out. "What is this place?" Carl asks as he looks ahead. Reilly looks at the wall.

"It used to belong to a small group of people," Reilly says.

"Where are they?" Maggie asks.

"They're dead. Simon killed them when they wouldn't listen," Reilly says as he walks towards the gate, which was still open. He pushes it open and looks inside. In the middle of the area was a church. On the right of the church were two large buildings. Besides, the four of them were two watchtowers. There was a shed beside the church, and then four more buildings spread around. "Before the turn, there was a group here. They were very religious, and this is where they stayed. Some of the walls are down, and we'll have to rebuild some of the buildings, but it should work, and we can grow food here."

"How long do you think it will take to fix?" Enid asks.

"I don't know. A few weeks. We'll be able to survive at the Sanctuary until then," Reilly answers.

"Do you want to go to the other locations?" Maggie asks Reilly, who shakes his head as he goes back towards the car.

Daryl's P.O.V

Daryl walks back into his cabin after he gets back with John. He looked at Charlie and Daniel, who were playing chess. "How was fishing?" Daniel asks as he moves a piece.

"Fine. Where's Alicia?" Daryl questions as he sets his crossbow down.

"Sleeping," Charlie answers without looking at him.

"How long have you two been here?" Daryl asks.

"An hour," Charlie answers as he moves a piece.

"Jesus," Daryl says as he takes a drink of water.

"You know I was just like who when Grizelda was pregnant," Daniel says.

"How so?" Daryl questions.

"I was always worried," Daniel answers. "I am worried now. Alicia means a lot to me."

Daryl nods as he goes to bed.

Maggie's P.O.V

Maggie sat in her office looking at the wall. Al walks in with Hershel in her arms. Maggie smiles as she takes her son. "Hey, baby," She says as she kisses his head. She kisses Al.

"How did it go?" Al asks.

"The place was good. Once it is fixed up, it should work fine for the saviors. They will also be closer to the campgrounds and Kingdom," Maggie explains.

"That means they'll also be safer from Oceanside," Al says. Maggie nods as she sits back down.

"Have you heard from Beth and Tara?" Maggie asks.

"They should be back tomorrow," Al tells her. Maggie nods.

"I'll be up to bed soon," Maggie says to Al, who nods as she leaves. She sits down and smiles at Hershel.

Thanks for reading. Next chapter, Alicia will give birth, and we will enter the bridge story, which I am very excited about and will have some serious things that will affect the rest of the story. As always, suggestions, ideas, and feedback are welcomed. Until next time.
