Chapter 46-Give life a chance

Beth's P.O.V

Beth ran her hands through her hair, staring out the window as more people came, as Tara came into the room with breakfast. "You okay?" Tara asks Beth as she sets the plate down on the nightstand.

"No," Beth says as she sits down. "You know Cyndie well, right?"

"She saved my life when we first met." Tara confirms for her as she sits down. "Why?"

"I don't trust her. She's gonna get people hurt, and she is using Maggie to do it. All she cares about is getting revenge on Negan and the rest of the saviors." Beth explains. Tara stays silent for a moment before she sighs.

"She has good reason, Beth. She has every right to feel the way she does. She lost her mother, her 11 year old brother, her grandparents, hell all of her people's males to the Saviors."

Beth stares at Tara in shock. Her shock quickly turns to anger. "That's bullshit!" Beth exclaims. "Reason?! People die. People kill people. I watched my brother die! I watched my home go up in flames! I watched my father get his head cut off by your former leader!" Tara stares at Beth. Beth could see the shock and hurt in her eyes. "I was left at a fucking hospital not knowing if my family was alive! Not knowing if I would ever see them again! So don't tell me that bitch had any fucking reasons! I can still see a future without revenge but with hope! That bitch can take her reasons and leave my fucking family alone! She doesn't have shit!" Beth shouts at Tara. She leaves the room, slamming the door shut on her way out.

Nick's P.O.V

Nick takes a deep breath. He stood by the woods holding his staff. "Did Morgan teach you?" Nick turns his head and sees a blond boy staring at him. The boy was about a foot smaller than Nick. He had short blond hair and dark brown eyes.

"Yeah," Nick says. "You're Henry, aren't you?" Henry nods as he walks towards Nick. "So I'm assuming Carol, Ezekiel and Jerry are here."

"Yeah, they are talking with Maggie and Rick." Henry says. "Are you going to be helping with the bridge?"

"Yeah," Nick answers as he leans against the staff. He looks towards the woods as a walker comes towards them. Nick grips his staff and stabs the end of it through the walker's forehead. "You wanna come with?"

Henry nods, grinning, as he pulls his staff off his back.

Rosita's P.O.V

Rosita sat on a table, sharpening her knife. "I have heard that the campgrounds have an outstanding food supply," Eugene says. Rosita looks up at him and smiles.

"It's all because of you." Rosita says reassuringly as she sets her knife down. "You find the supply. We only go and get it."

Eugene nods as he sits down. "I have been brought in to help with the planning of the bridge." Eugene tells her.

"I'm here to keep the peace." Rosita says. "How are things in Alexandria?"

"We are doing good. It would be better if you came home," Eugene says.

"The campgrounds are my home."

"Are the campgrounds your home, or are we talking about our mutual friend with the staff?" Eugene asks Rosita with the hint of a smile. Rosita shakes her head, going back to her knife.

"Nothing is happening between Morgan and me." Rosita argues.

"I hate to bring up old memories, but I feel that it is needed at this time. Abraham left you for Sasha because he fell for her. Those two expected to have more time to...explore their mutual attraction to each other. But their chance was cut short by an asshole with a bat and a huge ego."

Rosita couldn't help but chuckle at the last part. "Now that asshole sits outside our camp with Carl. My point is that we can expect the chance to act on our feelings because those expectations could be cut short."

"For a guy who has never been in a relationship. You give good advice," Rosita says to Eugene. "Abraham would be proud of you."

"He would be proud of you as well," Eugene says. He pats Rosita's shoulder before he stands up and walks away.

Charlie's P.O.V

Charlie walked out of Barrington house and started to walk to the horses. "Charlie," Rachel says from behind the girl. Charlie turns around and looks at Rachel with a frown.

"You don't know how to take a hint. I do not want to talk to you," Charlie growls.

"You seem to have a lot of problems with me, and we met yesterday," Rachel says.

"I don't trust you. I don't trust Cyndie, and I don't trust anybody from Oceanside."

"Why?" Rachel questions, offended

"Because you want revenge against Negan and the saviors. Negan is one of us. He's family. Revenge drives you to do stupid stuff. You don't want to hang out or be friends. You want me for something, and I'm not playing your game so go to hell," Charlie says before he turns around and walks away.

"This is going to be harder than I thought," Rachel mumbles as she watches her leave.

Alicia's P.O.V

Alicia walks down the stairs as Maggie comes out of her office. "Hey, where's Daryl?"

"He's sleeping with the babies," Alicia answers as she stops in front of Maggie. Maggie motions for Alicia to follow her as she walks into the kitchen inside Barrington house. Alicia follows her into the room and sits at the table as Maggie starts to make coffee.

"A word of advice. Make sure you have something to wake you up in the morning," Maggie says as she turns and looks at Alicia, who nods.

"Can I ask you something?" Alicia asks Maggie uncertain, who nods. "How do you leave Hilltop to go on runs?"

"I struggled with it at first," Maggie answers as she sits down. She leans back in the chair and looks at Alicia. "I tried leaving about two months after he was born, and I couldn't do it. It will always be a struggle leaving them because you might never see them again. But they give us a reason to fight and get home. You'll do fine, Alicia."

"Oh thanks." Alicia says as Maggie stands up and goes to get the coffee. She comes back and sets the mug down in front of Alicia.

"Let's talk about something else," Maggie says as she sits down with a teasing look suddenly. "Tell me how you managed to tame the heart of the infamous loner Daryl Dixon." Alicia chuckles with a nod.

Tara's P.O.V

Tara finds Beth out by Glenn and Abraham's graves, sitting on the dirt ground, staring at the wooden crosses. "Glenn was always so filled with hope," Beth says. "Whenever things looked bad, I would look at Glenn, and I would feel better." Beth says as she stares at the grave. Tara walks over to Beth and sits down beside her.

"Do you really believe that Cyndie would do something that would hurt others?" Tara asks Beth softly after a minute of silence.

"I do. When I was at the hospital, I knew one thing about the woman in charge, Dawn. She would do anything as long as she kept power over the hospital. I get the same feeling about Cyndie. She'll do anything to kill Negan and any of the Saviors. Dawn would have killed anybody if she could keep power. The other difference is that Cyndie can hurt a lot more people."

Tara stares at Beth. She has never heard Beth speak like this. She was worried, and it worried Tara. "Okay, I trust you," Tara says. "Tell me what you need."

"Watch her, try and keep her away from Maggie." Beth says.

"Beth-"

"Please." Beth begged.

"...Okay." Tara says after a pause. Beth nods as she lays her head on Tara's shoulder.

The cadet just stared...not sure what to do and who to side with.

Dwight's P.O.V

Dwight watched Tara and Beth from where he stood. He was out of view from the two women. "You're being creepy," Al says. Dwight turns his head and looks at her.

"I'm just glad she's moving on," Dwight says with a hint of a smile. "The woman she loved before, Denise. I killed her, and I've felt bad about it, but I could never fix it. I'm glad she's finding someone else."

"What about you?" Al asks Dwight, who looks at her confused. "When are you going to move on and allow yourself to be happy?"

"I got my chance at being happy, and I threw it away. I took Daryl's bike. That was my chance," Dwight says.

"We all get second chances, Dwight," Al says before she walks away. Dwight watches her before he turns back and sees Tara and Beth are gone. He smiles as he walks past Barrington house.

Troy's P.O.V

Troy looked at Laura, who was sleeping in their shared bed. He kisses her head as he puts his coat on and walks outside of the trailer. "You treating her right?" Troy jumped and looked at Negan, who had a basket of food.

"What are you doing in here?" Troy asks him, suddenly on edge by the smile on Negan's face. It was the same smile described in the stories about the man, when he was about to kill someone.

"Getting some food," Negan answers cheerfully. "And I asked you a question."

"Yeah," Troy says quickly. Troy would be lying if he said that Negan didn't scare him. The man was taller and stronger than he was. Negan sets the basket down and walks closer to Troy, who stands his ground and looks Negan in the eyes.

"Her Dad helped me when I needed help, and I promised him I would take care of her. I like to think I have done a pretty good job at that. Now you proved that you are willing to die for your friends. But if she ever gets hurt and you cause it. What I did to Jed, Glenn, and Abraham will look like child's play compared to what I'll do to you," Negan leaned in growling. "Understood?"

"Understood," Troy says. Negan nods, patting Troy's shoulder, as he turns and leaves.

After a minute to make sure his heart rate was down, Troy muttered "Meeting the Dad will never be easy."

Morgan's P.O.V

Morgan sets his staff on the table and looks at Rosita, who is sitting on the bed with a book. "Rick found where we plan to build the bridge. Tomorrow he'll take a group out and find the best place to build a camp," Morgan says as he pulls his coat off and sets it down by his stick.

"Good," Rosita says as she sets the book down and throws her feet over the bed. "I can't say I'm the biggest fan of this R.V."

"Well, it is better than sharing with a bunch of the others," Morgan says as he sits on the couch. "We should get some sleep. We got a long day ahead of us."

"Morgan," Rosita says. Morgan turns his head and looks at her. "Do you like me?"

"In what sense?" Morgan questions dreading her answer.

"You know what sense." Rosita answers firmly. Morgan stays silent for a second before he nods.

"Yes," He answers. Rosita stands up and walks over to him. She bends down and looks him in the eyes.

"Why haven't you done anything about it?" She asks him softly.

"Because I'm scared to lose you," Morgan answers. "Like I did, Jenny and Duane. I lost myself for a long time." Rosita lays her hand on Morgan's cheek.

"I am not your wife or son. Being scared of losing each other is just a part of this now. It has always been a part of a relationship before this shit too," Rosita leans up and kisses Morgan. She pulls back after a moment and gives him a gentle smile. "I'm not asking you to forget about them. I'm asking you to give life a chance," She stands up and starts to walk towards the bed. She stops and holds her hand out to Morgan. Morgan stares at Rosita for a moment before he takes her hand and follows her to the bed. He laid with her for about ten minutes before he heard her breathing even out. He takes a deep breath as he closes his eyes.

Thanks for reading. I hope I did that last scene well. I am not the best at doing romantic scenes. Morgan and Rosita is an idea I got around the time she came to the campgrounds, and I like it. I think it is unique and fun. I had a lot of fun looking at other characters in this chapter, and let me know if you want to see more chapters like this or any character scenes you want to see. As always, suggestions, ideas, and feedback are welcomed. Until next time.
