Happy New Year to all!

I know I'm spending los of time building up Iris and Roy, but there is a reason for it, which I'm not telling. Just know, they will be a large part of the team in the future.

For those who are thinking this chapter will be focused on Roy alone? Nope, Iris and several others are in here as well.

I'm not a doctor, but I do have friends who are. I consult them to make sure what I write is Medically Accurate. Wait until the surgeries. Those chapters are going to require a warning since they will be quite graphic.

Enjoy the light hearted chapters until then.

Cheryl burst into her grandfather's office, and yelled, "We need to talk!"

Henry put down the paperwork he was holding onto his desk, lifted his head to his granddaughter, and said, "Is that the way your mother taught you to address your senior, Cheryl?"

"No, and if she was here, all those papers on your desk would be thrown to the floor!" Cheryl continued yelling.

"You have my undivided attention, Cheryl. What crawled up your scrubs that has you acting like this?" Henry calmly asked.

Cheryl walked forward and slammed her paws on Henry's desk, looked him straight in the eyes, and answered, "Iris Murphy was re-admitted to the ED Department! Her mother, in her infinite wisdom removed Iris from her home! She's down there, by herself, thinking who knows what! Dr. Garcia has already examined her and ordered a series of films and a CT, which she has no way of paying for! From what I can see that girl is going to need another surgery to repair the muscular and cartilage damage and face a long recovery period! You've bent the rules before to accommodate patients of financial needs. I need you to do it again, this time for my patient."

Henry placed his elbows on his desk, interlocking his fingers from both paws, and said, "I don't believe I have to bend the rules, Cheryl."

"What!? She needs medical attention, and you are going to deny it, over the damn costs!? You have gotten patients the care they needed in the past, without a single thought of the cost to the hospital! Has Old Age finally caught up to you and now all you care about is the Bottom Line?!" Cheryl yelled even louder.

Henry rose from his chair, got into his granddaughter's face, and yelled back, "Don't you ever accuse me of not wanting what's best for the patients again, Cheryl! Don't you think I already know about her situation!? Nurse Khan called me as soon as Sergeant Cassidy finished filling out the paperwork! I need to read Dr. Garcia's report before I call Dr. Fang from Claw-Tek to see if Iris is eligible for a new prosthesis! With the new damage, you described, she might not qualify anymore! She's already on pain reducers, given intravenously, but that is all we can do until Dr. Garcia reads the films! Go back to work, now, Cheryl and wait!"

"You expect me to see other patients, while she's a nervous wreck down there!?" Cheryl asked.

"I do. Mostly I need you out of my office before I fire you for Gross Insubordination!" Henry answered.

Cheryl turned on her heels and left his office, slamming the door behind her.

Henry sat back down in his chair, swiveled so he faced the window, and said, "I'll apologize to her later. She might be right, maybe I am getting too old for this job."

Despite Dr. Osorio's orders to stay in bed, Roy was pacing around the Examination Room, desperately wanting to see Iris.

Mrs. Warrens watched her son pace around the room worse than a caged lion, and said, "The doctor told you to stay in bed, Roy."

He turned his head to face her, and asked, "Do you expect me to sit still while Iris is not by my side, mother?"

"No, I don't," his mother stated. "When your father had his Gall Bladder removed, I never left him. However, you are also a patient here, which means you need to listen to the doctors and nurses. I'm sure Iris is perfectly fine. Her new family is with her."

Roy sighed a breath of relief, knowing Iris wasn't alone. He laid back on the gurney and rested. He looked at his mother, and asked, "How does dad feel about me getting engaged to Iris?"

"He wants to meet her, before saying anything, Roy. Your father wants you to be happy," Mrs. Warrens answered.

"He'll have to come here in for that to happen. I think Iris and I will be here for a bit as we recover," Roy said.

Dr. Osorio entered the room carrying a sling in his right paw. "I've got something for you, Mr. Warrens." He presented the sling to him, and said, "With this, you don't have to worry about supporting the damaged prothesis. You can wander around freely and more importantly, go home, until the new prosthesis is ready. Dr. Fang and Mr. Clawson are confident, all will be ready in about a week and a half."

Roy slipped his prosthesis into the sling and placed the strap around his neck. "I feel almost as bad as when I had my arm crushed."

"It can't be that bad," Dr. Osorio said.

"It is," Roy said. "I can't hold my fiancée, I won't be able to take my tests, since I won't be able to get there, which means I won't be able to graduate. My scholarship is already in jeopardy since I can't play anymore. If I don't graduate on time, I won't be able to attend college at all."

"Why haven't I or your father heard any of this, Roy?" Mrs. Warrens asked.

Roy went over to his mother, and answered, "I didn't want to worry you or dad, any more than I already have, mom. Mr. Clawson told me about a grant from C. C. Enterprises, which I have applied for. Iris said she would work with me day and night to make sure I get it."

"She must really love you to make that offer, Roy," Mrs. Warrens said.

"She does, mom. Just as much as I love her. We both want to attend college together, and after we graduate and find good jobs, get married. I can't see myself with another she-cat anymore. Iris is going to be my wife and eventually the mother of my kittens," Roy said.

"Be that as it may," Dr. Osorio said. "You still have to deal with the broken wing you have. The surgery is quite complicated, and no one really knows how long recovery is going to take. You could be out of school for months."

"Months! I can't sit on the sidelines for months! College starts in the fall and Iris won't go without me!" Roy exclaimed.

"Calm down," Dr. Osorio said. "We have several students, younger than you who are attending classes while they are here. You can make up your classes during your stay and not fall behind."

"Really? That's great! I'll get to attend college with Iris," Roy said.

"Don't get your hopes up too soon, Mr. Warrens," Dr. Osorio said. "You have yet to meet Miss Romanov. From what I've heard from some of my patients, she's quite tough."

"She can be as tough as Hardened Steel. I'll pass her classes. That I promise!" Roy said.

"Alright. I'll have Dr. Henry Feldman, get you set up. Meanwhile, you're free to go. Take it easy on that arm. Hate to have to remove it, before your new one is ready," Dr. Osorio said and left.

Roy turned to his mother, and asked, "Mom, can I see Iris before we leave?"

"I don't see why not?" She answered.

A few minutes later, Mrs. Warrens knocked on the door to Iris' room.

Felina heard the knocking, let go of Iris' right paw, and went to answer the knock. She opened the door and saw Mrs. Warrens and Roy in the wheelchair. "I figured you would show up, sooner than later. Come on in," she said and opened the door wider.

Mrs. Warrens wheeled Roy into the room and as soon as his eyes fell on Iris, he bolted out of the Wheelchair, ran to her, and kissed her. After kissing her for about a half a minute, he pulled back, and asked, "What are the doctors saying?"

"Dr. Garcia ordered a bunch of X-Rays and a CAT scan we are waiting on the results. What has your doctors told you?" She asked in return.

Roy sat on the edge of the bed, and answered, "I need a new prosthetic arm. The bullet dented a few of the Control Rods beyond repair. Dr. Fang believes the arm will be ready in a week. Then my surgery and recovery will start. Dr. Osorio is going to have Dr. Feldman set me up with a teacher, while I'm here in the hospital so I don't fall behind."

"Roy, don't you think you should focus on your recovery, rather than school?" Iris asked.

"No way!" He answered. "Iris, going to college with you is a step forward in our relationship. Not only will we be attending classes together, but we can also find an apartment where we will live together."

Felina scrunched her face up, and asked, "What exactly do you mean where we can live together, Roy? You might be engaged to Iris, but no daughter of mine is going to be shacking up with a tom, without a ring on her finger!"

Roy turned his head hard to the right to see Felina in her new uniform and his mother. Both shooting daggers at him with their eyes. His eyes quickly roamed over Felina's bare legs, and thought, 'She looks great when she's Caliber, but she looks like a goddess in that skirt.' He then said, "Iris isn't your daughter, Mrs. Clawson."

Felina went over to Iris' left side, put her left arm around her shoulders, and said, "She will be. My parents are letting her call them her grandparents, so that makes me her new mother. Jake and I are going to the Courthouse to get the paperwork needed to officially adopt Iris. Hopefully in a few days, Iris will be a Clawson."

"Roy, I hope you can handle Felina being my mother, because I know I'm going to love being her daughter," Iris said.

Roy kissed Iris again, but kept his face within an inch of hers, and said, "I'm happy you have a new family, Iris. I always knew, you and Felina had a special bond. I can't think of a better she-cat to guide you in life." He rubbed his nose against hers and purred.

Iris returned his affections, letting her claws lightly rake down his back.

The two adult she-cats watched Iris' paws intently to see where they traveled. However, Iris' paws didn't wander past his waist.

Roy's mother turned to Felina, and said, "I believe these two want a little alone time. Care to take a walk with me to the cafeteria for some hot milk?"

"Sure," Felina answered. Then her eyes were laser focused on Iris, and said, "Behave, daughter. Understand?"

"Yes, mom," Iris answered.

For some reason, Felina didn't quite believe her. But she left with Roy's mother.

Roy turned towards the door, watching Felina's hips and legs in her skirt, and accidentally whispered, "What a she-cat!"

Iris heard him, loud and clear. "You think my new mom is hot, Roy?" She teasingly asked.

Roy was still remembering how Felina looked and moved in her skirt. He subconsciously answered, "Hot isn't the word I'd use."

"Oh? How would you describe her then, Roy?" She continued baiting him.

"She could be one of Bast's Ladies in Waiting with the way she looks," Roy answered.

Iris laughed, bringing Roy back to the real world, and quickly realized, he complimented Iris' new mother's body right in front of Iris. He slowly turned his head back to her, and said, "I apologize for making those comments about your mother, Iris."

Iris' response was to grab the fur on both of his cheeks and kiss him, very deeply.

Roy returned her kiss, closing his eyes and purring quite loudly.

Iris let go of the fur on his cheeks, lowered them to his chest, feeling the dense muscles in her paws. She withdrew from the kiss, and said, "If we weren't in the hospital right now, I'd be begging for you to take me, Roy."

"Iris, as much as I want to make love to you, I won't. Not until the time is right. However, I have no issues with making my fiancée, purr," Roy said, then slipped his right paw under the blankets. He lightly scraped his claws over Iris' right inner thigh, which shot a bolt of pleasure through Iris.

"Uh!" She said on a moan. "Do that again!"

Roy repeated is actions, causing the same response from Iris. But before he could rake his claws further up her thigh, Daniella entered the room. Her eyes went wide in shock as to where Roy's paw was. She said, covering her eyes with her paws, "Oh Bast! I'm sorry! I didn't mean to walk in on you two being intimate!"

Roy quickly removed his right paw and placed it back on top of the blanket, blushing in embarrassment.

Daniella regained her composure, and said, "I was young once too and know what Young Love is like." She went over to the bed, sat down on the right side, then ordered, "Roy, get out! Us ladies need to have a little chat."

Roy followed her request and left the room, closing the door behind him.

Once he was gone, Daniella focused on Iris, and asked, "How far have you two gone?"

"Not that far, Dr. Feldman. This is the first time he touched me, very intimately," she responded.

"If I didn't interrupt, I believe he would have made sure you were purring for him," Daniella said, then asked, "When was your last gynecologist appointment?"

"A few heat cycles ago," She answered.

"I'm not going to beat around the bush, Iris. Are you planning on sleeping with him?" Daniella asked.

Iris looked at the door, then back to Daniella. "I've thought about it during the prom, and since I've been here, several times. I believe he will be a very attentive lover," she answered.

"Here's what we are going to do. I'm going to order an IV Contraceptive for you. The treatment will be good for three months, before it will have to be re-administered. Your heat cycles will also diminish, since your reproductive organs will be suppressed," Daniella said.

"Why would you do that for me? I'm not your patient," Iris asked.

"You are my daughter's patient and Felina is mine. I'm quite positive, she would bring you to me to take care of your feminine issues," Daniella said, then rose from the bed. "I'll get the order in, and a nurse will be by to get the infusion started." The pager she wore on her waist started beeping, drawing her attention to the device. She removed it from her belt, and read the number displayed. "I'll be back when I can to check up on you. Don't get too frisky until the treatment has been completed." She left the room.

Roy re-entered and returned to Iris' side. "What did Dr. Feldman talk to you about, Iris?" He asked, then said, "Its getting quite difficult to keep addressing all three of our doctors as Dr. Feldman."

"That it is. Doctor Daniella Feldman is going to give me an IV contraceptive treatment, which must be re-administered every three months. She is also going to be my gynecologist," Iris answered.

He brought his mouth close to hers, then said, "Remind me to thank her, later," and kissed her.

Her arms went around his neck, pulling him closer to her. She slipped her tongue into his mouth and lowered her right paw down to his waist, finding purchase at the base of his tail.

Roy separated his lips from hers, long enough to ask, "Iris, what are we doing?"

She answered by moving her paw which was on his tail to drift lower to his backside, and as she gave the globe a squeeze, she said, "I want my future husband to purr for me. You didn't purr when I made you go over, back in the Imaging Trailer. I need to correct that behavior." She brought her lips back to his and kissed him once more.

Roy moaned into her mouth and when she placed the offending paw beneath the waistband of his pants, onto his hardened tomhood, he saw stars. Her paw felt like silk against his sensitive flesh and never wanted the feeling to end.

Iris withdrew from their kiss, lowered her mouth to the junction of Roy's shoulder and neck. She lightly nipped the spot as she stroked him.

Both sensations shot through Roy, and he climaxed. Letting out a low but long purr leave his throat.

Iris swiped some of his essence onto her finger and brought it to her mouth. "Mmm." She moaned, tasting him for the first time.

Felina and Roy's mother returned with four paper cups of Hot Milk for all of them. Felina placed the tray containing the cups on Iris' nightstand, and asked, "What did we miss?"

Daniella called the number shown on her pager and waited for someone to answer. It turned out to be her Answering Service with a message from Cheryl. She listened to the message, then wanted to rip the phone from the wall. She marched over to the elevators, jammed her left index finger on the Up button and waited for the elevator to bring her to the Administration Floor, where she would knock some sense into her father.

She slammed open the door to her father's office, entered, slammed the door closed again, and yelled, "Why is my daughter, your granddaughter an emotional wreck!?"

"Oh, here we go again," Henry softly said. Followed by, "Cheryl came in here, demanding I help Miss Murphy with the bills she is going to get, Daniella. I told her I had to read Dr. Garcia's report before I could do anything. I want to help that poor girl, anyway I can. But there is a process I have to follow."

"And is threatening to fire her, part of that process!? She loves her job, this hospital, her patients, and you! Do you have any idea how many times Cheryl has come to me, asking what you would do!? My daughter idolizes you, dad! We Feldmans are known for putting our patients first, which is why they come to us for care! Why would you threaten her, dad!?" Daniella asked.

"She accused me of putting the Hospital's profits above patient care, Daniella! In all my time I've never done that! I want to make Iris' bills disappear, but I can't! There are way too many expenses which have to be accounted for! If Dr. Garcia believes Iris is eligible for a new prosthetic limb from Claw-Tek, all of her costs will be covered. Cheryl stormed out of here before I had a chance to apologize to her," Henry stated.

"Why doesn't Cheryl know any of this?" Daniella asked.

"She should," Henry answered. "Or she doesn't recall. My granddaughter gets too emotionally involved with her patients to remember all the minor details, just like you do, my dear daughter."

Daniella pulled out a chair in front of her father's desk, sat down, and crossed her right leg over her left. She then asked, "How confident is Dr. Garcia that Iris will be eligible?"

"Quite confident. He still needs to examine the films. However, in the conversation I had with him, He believes he may have to remove what is left of Iris' leg. Which means she will require a Full Prosthetic Limb all the way to her hip," Henry said.

Daniella un-crossed her legs, placed her elbows on her thighs, her face in her paws, then looked to her father, and said, "Cheryl and I should be with her, when gets the results. Even with her being adopted by the Clawsons and the strong family bond they all have. She is going to need all the support she can get. Dad, that girl is going to have one long hard recovery ahead of her."

"She will. However, she will have a family, friends, and a caring staff who will support her every step of the way. Once the two surgeries have been completed, I'm going to assign Nurse Harrison to take charge of their Post-Op care. Between Felicia, and Dr. Earnheardt, those two will be back up and moving in almost no time," Henry said.

Daniella straightened her back, then asked, "Nurse Harrison and Dr. Earnheardt? You are really going to be quite hard on them, dad," Daniella said.

"No, I'm not," Henry answered. "They have spent too much time here already. They don't belong in a Hospital Setting any longer than needed. If the Claw-Tek prosthetics perform as we are told, I expect a full recovery within two weeks. Dr. Earnheardt will make sure that happens and Felicia will keep them on track."

Daniella rose from her seat, and said, "Cheryl is probably making her way back to Miss Murphy's side, as we speak. You should be there, not only to apologize to Cheryl. But to tell the two teens, their recovery might be worse than the surgeries."
