Roy left on the Monday for work, bag in the back of his car, and Jamie felt the knowledge he wasn't coming back again that night like a hole in his chest.
He called his mum while he was waiting for it to be time to leave.
"Jamie, baby."
"Mummy," Jamie sighed.
"What's wrong, my sexy little baby?"
"Fucking Roy Kent."
"Tell me what happened?"
"He came over on Friday night, the master, ensuite and kitchen are all done. I suppose he came over to check 'em out."
Georgie hummed at him to continue.
"He made dinner in the new kitchen, a nice pasta, and we had dinner and then went upstairs and then he stayed the night. He had clothes here, Mummy, he knew he was going to stay."
"It sounds like a nice night," Georgie said.
"Was fucking mint, sex was great, and then we had breakfast and then a pre-game training session. We went to the match, and we won."
"You played so beautifully, my sexy little baby."
"Thanks, Mummy, I was really fucking happy with that assist and the hat-trick was even better, felt like I was playing the best ever," Jamie said, remembering the thrill of the game and the high of jerking Roy off in the closet immediately after the game before he dropped to his knees and swallowed the come, eyes locked on Roy. Jamie shook his head.
"You looked so joyful playing," Georgie agreed.
"And he came back to the house and…sorry won't tell ya about that bit. He stayed all weekend but then this morning he packed his little bag and left for work. What the fuck, Mummy?"
Georgie sighed. "You have to talk to him, my baby."
"I know, Mummy, but if we talk about it, he might want to stop and I want to keep what we have."
"Then you're going to have to let go of the desire to know why he's doing what he's doing and when you'll have him and when you won't."
"Fuck," Jamie growled out.
"Yes."
"I love him, Mummy."
"I know."
"And he is a good man," Jamie said.
"I know he is," Georgie said, "but I want to kick him in the backside until he starts talking."
"Thank you, Mummy."
"My sexy little baby, you deserve someone who loves you as much as you love them."
Jamie nodded. "I know, Mummy."
"And I don't want you to settle for anything less."
"I love you, Mummy."
"I love you too, have a good day, and I only want you to be happy."
"Tell Simon hi, bye, Mummy."
"Bye, Jamie."
Georgie put down the phone and looked at her husband.
"Roy?" Simon asked, flipping the pancake.
"Roy."
"He will get there eventually," Simon said.
"But before he works out he's in love with Jamie, it's making Jamie's heart hurt."
"You can't live his life for him."
"But I can kick Roy Kent's arse into next month."
"Christmas," Simon suggested. "If they haven't sorted out they're shit by Christmas, we can have a word…Ruth and Phoebe will want to help."
Georgie growled. "Fine."
"If he doesn't see sense, you and that gang of yours can go and terrorise him."
Georgie grinned. "We'll start with his fucking car."
