Anger.

This was the best word to describe Kudo Shinichi's feeling right now after his parents left him and traveled to America. They'd asked him if he would be fine alone and he said he would, but he was 14 years old... He didn't want his parents to think he was a baby if he told them the truth, that he didn't want them to leave him, he wanted them to stay with him in Japan. He expected them to understand by themselves that every child needs his parents.

But they didn't. And they left.

Of course, he still had Professor Agass Hiroshi, his neighbor, and his childhood best friend and secret crush; Mouri Ran. But he didn't want to stay at Agasa's, since the man is inventing strange stuff that explodes, and he didn't want to be a freeloader.

And as for Ran, her father definitely wouldn't agree, and he already causes trouble enough for Ran, especially when he and Eri would argue and embarrass Ran in public as usual.

So, he found himself alone in the living room, dribbling his soccer ball as he walked around aimlessly.

To Shinichi, the best thing next to mysteries and being a detective was playing soccer, and he was the midfielder at Teitan Middle School's team, until he was kicked out.

Because he argued to play on the field when the coach would always place him on the side bench, because he believed Shinichi to be a talentless spoiled brat who just wants to play because his parents are famous.

Shinichi's thoughts were interrupted when he heard someone knocking on the door. He raised an eyebrow as he kicked the soccer ball aside and went to open the door.

"What is it now, Hakase...?", Shinichi trailed off, thinking the one behind the door was Agass until he looked up, and a wide smile spread on his face.

"I think it's Kantoku in my case, not Hakase.", The purple haired man smiled down at the boy.

Shinichi immediately embraced the man, "Michiya Ojisan!".

Kudo Michiya chuckled as he returned the hug and ruffled Shinichi's hair, "Hey kiddo, I heard from Agasa that you've been living alone for two weeks now, I thought you would like a visitor.".

Shinichi's smile widened before he ran back in and caught his soccer ball and showed it to Michiya, "Can we continue our secret soccer training in the backyard?".

Michiya smiled, "You took the words right out of my mouth!".

Shinichi thought this would be a regular visit from his paternal uncle, but he didn't know that his visits and training, would change Shinichi's life later on, in the best thing next to mysteries and deduction...

Soccer.
