A few days later Skye was in her room when she heard a bark from outside her room. She got up and went and opened the door and was rewarded with the golden retriever that she had found a couple of months ago jumping up on her and licking her face. Skye stumbled back but was able to keep herself upright.
"Woah, hi doggy, what are you doing here?" Skye asked looking at Bucky.
"I know you said you didn't want him anymore. But you were lying," Bucky said.
Skye smiled a little and gently pushed the dog off her face, "does dad know?"
"Of course," Bucky said.
Skye nodded a little and got down and pet the dog all over. "Thanks, Papa. You're right I was lying. I just don't really feel like I deserve him."
"Your dad and I disagree with that, so he is your dog now," Bucky said.
"What is his name?" Skye asked
"Harley," Bucky said.
Skye smiled
"He has been given a full check-up from Pepper's friend. He is healthy. His food bowls are in the kitchen. His food ison the top shelf of the pantry," Bucky said before handing her the leash.
Skye listened and took the leash from him.
"He was just on a walk but in the future that is your responsibility as you already have been told," Bucky said.
"Yes, I remember," Skye said smiling.
"Okay, good," Bucky said.
Skye stood up and hugged him.
Bucky hugged her and smiled.
Skye broke the hug before she started to lead the dog around the compound showing him around.
Bucky sat next to Steve as she came through the living room with a big smile on her face.
"I don't remember the last time I saw her smile like that," Steve said quietly as he put an arm around Bucky.
"Hopefully that happiness doesn't fade when I tell her she has an appointment in a couple of days with a therapist," Bucky said as he leaned into his husband.
"You sure this one is safe for her to talk to with no fear of CPS being called?" Steve asked.
"Yes. I personally spoke to him and explained the situation and he has also worked with other enhanced humans before," Bucky said
"Okay," Steve said.
"I don't want her to fear therapy. I made sure this time," Bucky said.
"I trust you Buck, I was just making sure," Steve said.
When Skye came back through the living room with the dog Steve stopped her.
"Come sit for a second," Steve said.
Skye went over and sat on the couch, the dog laid at her feet. "Yeah?"
"You have therapy theday after tomorrow," Steve said.
Skye nodded a little.
"I have spoken to him, he knows who you are, and has worked with other enhanced people before. You are safe to talk about everything with him. And he also believes in animals as therapy so you can bring the dog when you see him," Bucky said.
Skye's eyes lit up at that. "Okay."
"You keeping the same name for him?" Steve asked.
"Of course, I don't think it would be fair to change it. He is used to the name," Skye said.
Steve smiled and nodded.
"Did you ever want to change my name?" Skye asked.
"Absolutely not," Steve said. "I asked you if you were okay with Sarah as a middle name remember?"
"Yes, but I wasn't sure if you were just being nice or something," Skye said.
"Nope, something I found out from journals of your mother's that have been found is she named you Skyler because of the color of your eyes," Steve said.
"Can I read the journals?" Skye asked.
"Yes," Steve said. "I will give them to you later."
"Thank you," Skye said
Nat came into the room, "so this must be the new furry compound member," she said as she went over and let the dog sniff and lick her hand before she started to pet him.
"It is, his name is Harley," Skye said. "The name he came with."
"Well Harley, welcome to this family," Nat said with a smile.
Harley licked her face and Nat chuckled.
Eventually, everyone met the dog and he was very excited for all the love he received.
