Summer vacation was surprisingly uneventful, Hiro would occasionally hang out with Rito, and when he visited the Yuuki Household, Hiro would help the two siblings with their chores, which was something they reluctantly gave up trying to convince Hiro not to do. Sometimes when he went grocery shopping for his parents, Hiro often met Mikan or Rito and sometimes even both siblings, they would walk back, speaking to each other, before splitting off.
Alone with Rito, he often talked about the manga he helped with his father and even shared reading with Hiro, both enjoying the story. Expressing their own comments and opinions of the story. Or Moaning about his exhaustive ordeal with Lala's antics.
When it's just Hiro and Mikan, Mikan often talks about Rito, his issues, some events that occurred at home with him and some clarifications over some of Rito and Lala's adventures in school. Mikan also apologized for rambling about her brother often and Hiro didn't mind it, but did tease her about her being a mother hen. Mikan would cutely pout and weakly argue back or just drop the conversation.
Now, Akatsuki Hiroto returns to school, sad that vacation is over. The reincarnate walks over to his desk behind Haruna, the demure girl glances at him, and Hiro nods. "Good morning, Sairenji-san." He says, politely
"Good morning, Akatsuki-san." Haruna greets with a small smile and Hiro smiles back, sitting down.
"Wah!-Uh Nope." Rito blurts out, face red as Lala looks at him, confused. Hiro glances back at Haruna, who stares at Rito's reaction with a hint of longing in her gaze, and Hiro lets out a small sigh.
'How will I help Rito with his heart being split between Lala and Haruna?'. Hiro ponders.
"All right, everyone get seated." Sensei says, entering the classroom and everyone complies. The old man walks over to the chalkboard, fixing his glasses. "It's a little sudden to happen in the second quarter, but we have a new transfer student."
'Transfer student? Who could it be?' Hiro lightly frowns, trying to remember anyone important. On cue, Hiro faintly hears some footsteps outside the class.
"This is Ren Elsie Jewelria. Please make him feel welcome, everyone." The Sensei announces and Hiro's eyes widen.
"Oh…" Hiro mutters and observes 'the Transfer Student who brings the storm.'
Right, Rito's love rival… Sort of, he kind of fell into the background later in the manga.
If Hiro recalls correctly, Ren is a guy who wants Lala's hand in marriage. Wants to prove himself as the most manilest person, probably due to his kind's ability to change genders, and well…
The reincarnate walks over, peeking over Rito's shoulder to see Ren's childhood photo, of him in a dress. Ren was probably wearing that dress due to his female form/personality, Run, at the time… Huh, looking back, what made Run fall for Rito again?
Hiro shrugs, taking his seat as class continues, and he does his best to ignore Ren's outbursts to prove himself as better than Rito.
After the first period, Ren's antics have been… Hiro groans.
The reincarnate admits that he certainly doesn't recall Ren being this obnoxious. From answering loudly and quickly at questions in class, even exclaiming how he shall answer faster than Rito. To outrunning Rito in the one hundred meter dash and yelling how he ran faster than Rito.
Now…
"LGLUUK!" Ren murmurs, eating his lunch while trying to talk "I- Cgan eeeete faaaffstr mnag uuu!" Uncaring of the slobby bits of food and the mess he is making on the desk near Rito.
Seeing the mess, Hiro had enough. It was one thing to be loud in class, but now Ren is making him lose his appetite! Hiro places his bento box down and stands up, pointing at Ren.
"Come on! Eating faster and making a mess, you're just being obnoxious now! Knock it off! I'm trying to enjoy my meal, I don't want to throw up seeing you eat like an animal!" Hiro says, losing his temper.
Ren freezes, staring at Hiro who is glaring at him. Rito looks around realizing Hiro is making a scene.
"Akatsuki-san kind of has a point…" A girl mutters.
"I thought the new guy was cute but yeah… It was kind of gross to see him like that." Another girl nods, whispering with her friends.
Hearing the whispers, Ren's eyes widen and he finally chews slowly. He gulps down the food and drinks his juice with sigh. "Apologies, I got so caught up trying to win Lala's heart, I forgot being manly includes being clean." Ren says bowing to Hiro. "I'll clean up!" Ren announces, moving to grab some paper towels.
Hiro and Rito sigh, consuming their food, enjoying the peace while they still can.
"Thanks for telling Ren off, Hiro." Rito thanks.
"I just couldn't stand him eating like that…" Hiro admits with a groan.
The two enjoy their lunch break.
Hiro goes to the restroom while Rito walks in the other direction of the hall and Ren quickly trails behind. Hiro sighs, giving Rito a mental prayer for his next trial before he answers nature's call.
Afterwards, Rito was lost in thought.
"What's wrong Rito?" Hiro asks, startling Rito
"Uh, nothing…" Rito says.
"Okay, but if you need anything..." Hiro offers.
The Protagonist smiles. "Of course, thank you Hiro."
The following day, Hiro finds Rito glaring daggers at Ren, who is praising Lala's looks. Is Rito jealous of Ren? Why?
"Rito, why do you look like you're trying to create lasers out of your eyes to burn Ren?" Hiro questions Rito flinches, facing Hiro.
"Oh! Um well… I'm just tired…" Rito says and Hiro sighs.
Rito is obviously lying, but it's not the reincarnate's place to push the guy.
Hiro shrugs, taking his seat. "Alright." Hiro says, grabbing his notes.
Later in the day, Ren gets 'ambushed' by multiple girls asking for his help on homework, Ren accidentally gropes a girl and they simply giggle. Hiro can hear the murmurs of 'Unfairness' from his peers.
Then in between periods, Ren thanks Haruna for something about 'last night'. Giving Haruna's handkerchief back to her and Hiro turns to Rito, seeing his angry face.
Oh… Rito saw something happen between Haruna and Ren, so now he is jealous… Jumping to a conclusion about Ren's character…
Lunch break begins and Rito…
"Ren, Come with me for a sec!" Rito says out loud, getting everyone's attention. Hiro tries to follow, going out of class but Rito glances back.
"Don't worry Hiro, I can do this alone." Rito says with his fist clenched and Hiro stops, staring at the two of them leaving the main building.
"This is…" Risa mutters with intrigued rubbing her chin.
"Kyah What is this?! Are they finally going to fight over Lala-chan?!" Mio whispers in excitement. Hiro sweat drops, walking past the two perverted gremlins.
"Hiro, what is Rito doing?" Lala asks and the reincarnate shrugs.
"Not certain…" Hiro glances at Haruna who is looking at him, curious. "Rito was glaring at Ren for some reason but he wouldn't explain and it seemed to have gotten worse when Ren talked to you Sairenji-san."
"Eh?" Haruna blurts out confused.
"What did you and Ren-kun talk about?" Lala asks Haruna.
"Well…" Haruna taps her finger on her cheek and mutters. "Ren was thanking me for giving him my handkerchief to wipe off his tears. I met him last night when I was walking my dog, Maron. Maron saw a cat and chased it, dragging me, before I fell, Ren caught me…" Haruna's eyes widen, her cheeks turn pink and she cups them. Realizing Rito, her crush, got jealous over Ren speaking to her.
"Oh that was nice of Ren." Lala says, oblivious to Haruna's embarrassment. "But it doesn't really explain why Rito is talking to Ren." Hiro sighs at Lala's airheadedness, now getting a picture of Rito's behavior today.
At the end of the school day, Hiro follows Rito and Ren, approaching Lala outside the gate.
Rito turns around, facing his friend. "Hiro, you can go home, I can handle this womanizer…" Rito says firmly.
"Are you certain?" Hiro asks in a neutral tone.
"Yeah…" Rito nods, his face turns pink but he shakes his head. "I can handle this on my own, I don't want to drag you down helping me all the time." He says, looking cool, perhaps that's the look that caught many hearts in the manga?
Hiro nods back, respecting Rito's decision. "You can do this Rito." The reincarnate pats Rito's shoulder, encouraging his friend, uncaring of his ignorance of the situation.
"I can do this…" Rito nods, muttering to himself and turns around, walking over to Lala and Ren.
Hiro sighs, stretching his back, watching Risa, Mio and Haruna, walk over to Rito, Lala and Ren. He watches the group go out together. "Guess I'll go home…"
Monday morning… Hiro arrived at the school gate, seeing Rito fight Ren, and they somehow created a dust cloud that looks like a cartoon fight.
"Rito, why were you fighting Ren?" Hiro asks, handing Rito an ice cold can to soothe his bruise and takes a seat on the bench near the vending machine.
"The guy just pisses me off…" Rito mumbles, not answering.
"Did something happen yesterday?" Rito stiffens at Hiro's question.
"N-nothing!"
"Really…?"
"Y-Yes!"
"We had fun at karaoke and Rito and Ren kissed!" Lala answers with an oblivious smile.
"HAHAHAHA!" Hiro falls over on the ground laughing and Rito moans in embarrassment.
In the first period, Saruyama convinced everyone to do an animal cafe with all the girls wearing outfits that might be illegal. All the boys stare at the girls in their outfits, even Hiro glanced occasionally, finding his eyes drawn at all the girls. Not wanting to go to potential hell, Hiro turns to the window only to see something move from the nearby tree, disappearing.
What was that?
Near the end of September, Hiro was doing his part to help the class prepare for the animal cafe for the school festival in October. He was in the same group as Lala and Ren, while Rito was with Haruna… Ah, Saruyama, despite being a pervert who is jealous of Rito, he can be quite the wing man for his friend. Hiro can respect that.
Hiro ignores Ren screaming about how he is a man as Lala tries to force him to wear one of the uniforms for a girl. Ren ran hard but last Hiro saw them, Lala was slowly gaining ground on the poor guy.
No wonder why Ren was so loudly insistent on how manly he is…
During the festival day, Hiro and Rito take turns organizing the group of hot blooded boys eager to be served by the girls in revealing but admittedly cute outfits.
Hiro takes his break and sits down sighing. Those guys in line were so exhausting to deal with… How come so many guys are still single? There are plenty of girls for them to try and ask out before Lala-
"I can't wait to see Lala-chan!" A boy yells out and many other boys murmur eagerly in agreement, some even drooling, unintentionally answering Hiro's question, and not noticing the other girls glaring at the boys in line with disgust.
Oh…
Hiro glances away, trying to express how he doesn't know any of these guys.
'I'm not one of them!'
"Akatsuki-san, want some juice?" A familiar girl asks, breaking Hiro's thoughts.
Hiro turns to see Risa wearing a wolf outfit, holding a glass cup towards him, ignoring the guys and even some girls nearby ogling her.
"Sure, thanks Momioka-san." Hiro accepts, taking the cup. "So, what do you think of the cafe?" He asks, curious what an individual girl thinks of this event.
"A bit embarrassing but since everyone in class is doing it, it's not so bad and it became pretty fun." Risa admits.
"That's good, I would feel bad if the girls felt pressured to do something they wouldn't want." Hiro comments.
"Yeah, but I bet you wouldn't feel that bad…" Risa replies with a mischievous grin, lifting up her breasts with her arm and Hiro, slightly pink, rolls his eyes, sighing in defeat.
"I mean, I am a guy too, I won't deny how you and all the girls look cute but I don't want to be a creep like our Principal…" Hiro admits, believing that trying to hide it would be pointless, taking a sip, missing Risa lightly blushing and smiling..
"Well, if we were serving a gentleman like you, I think the girls wouldn't mind, I know I wouldn't~." Risa whispers with a wink.
Hiro blinks, freezing up and Risa stifles a small giggle from his reaction
"Risa-san, come back inside, we need help with the orders!" A girl calls out and Risa turns back.
"Coming!" Risa leaves before Hiro could ask and right before she returns to the class. She sways her hips and winks at Hiro again.
Hiro rolls his eyes, just Risa teasing again…
Later, Hiro witnessed Tenjouin Saki and Lala competing for popularity and it ended with Lala winning wearing nothing but cream thanks to Peke.
Tenjouin Saki, now that her breasts are exposed, runs away from the Principal pursuing her. Hiro, grabs a cup of hot coffee from a nearby waitress and splashes it over the Principal's face.
"Oops!" Hiro dramatically gasps out loud.
"Ouch!" The pervert yelps from the burning liquid and falls over himself, allowing Saki to gain a great amount of distance, leaving the classroom with her friend Fujisaki Ayaka carrying her bra. The Principal quickly stands up, running out of the room, looking for Saki, until her bodyguard/friend, Kujo Rin, knocks the Principal out with a solid kick to the face. Somehow having the strength to launch the pervert into the nearby wall, breaking a bit of it with his skull.
Rin turns to Hiro and nods, acknowledging his help to her lady. Hiro nods back and turns back to see Saruyama announcing Lala as the winner and all the boys cheering loudly, chanting Lala's name.
No way would anyone be forgetting this anytime soon…
Hiro moves to wipe the coffee before it stains too much. Unaware of the waitress, who had the coffee Hiro took and saw his actions with the Principal earlier.
She whispers to the other girls, who all turn to Hiro. Watching him ignore Lala's sexy appearance, cleaning the coffee mess he made to save Saki from the Principal.
It's been a week into October since the festival, Hiro was doing some errands for his parents, grocery shopping.
"Hey Hiro." Mikan says and Hiro turns around, lifting his basket, finding Rito's Imouto smiling cutely at him.
"Hey Mikan." Hiro greets back with a small smile.
The two finish their grocery shopping and walk back together.
"Rito's birthday is two weeks from now." Mikan announces.
"What day specifically?" Hiro asks.
"The Sixteenth."
"I see, thanks for telling me, now I need some help figuring out what Rito would like…" Hiro admits. "Do you know anything?
"Actually, I was hoping you would help me figure out a good gift for Rito." Mikan replies, with an uneasy smile.
"Oh… I mean, does Rito seem like a guy who expects something big in his presents?" Hiro asks, partially guessing.
"I guess but it can't just be something random or plain." Mikan frowns.
"True, hmmm, well let's list his hobbies… He likes Football." Hiro starts.
"Playing Video games." Mikan points out with an eye roll. "And…"
""Gardening."" Both Hiro and Mikan say, their eyes light up.
"Oh! Maybe something for gardening!" Mikan says.
"Yeah, but what does he need?"
"Hmmm, well some of his tools seem a bit worn down…" Mikan answers. "Rito uses a very old trowel, Mom and Dad left it in the shed for many years before Rito took up gardening."
"I could get him a trowel and a book about plants?" Hiro offers, since just giving him a trowel feels too easy, plus Rito could sharpen his mind reading a book about a personal interest of his.
"Sounds good, I could get him some nice pots for the flowers, maybe even paint them at school." Mikan nods.
"Good idea, looks like you didn't need my help at all." Hiro praises and Mikan gives Hiro a small smile.
"See you later!" Mikan says, walking away in the opposite direction of Hiro's home.
With a plan in mind, at school Hiro talked to Lala in private about Rito's birthday, knowing what Hiro and Mikan will be giving Rito, Lala talked to her sister, Momo, who knows a lot of plants due to her unique ability to communicate with them.
October sixteen, it's Rito's birthday. Lala goes out to space, since it's the best time for the plant to be picked up and Hiro goes to school acting nonchalant as Rito somehow forgets its his birthday.
Hiro walks over to the classroom door and he tilts his head up seeing Haruna, flustered, speed walking through the door, carrying an additional bag. A few seconds later he sees Rito running through the halls.
The recinarnate's eyes narrow, connecting the dots between Rito and Haruna's behavior. Suddenly Hiro stands in front of Rito. "Woah!" He yells with his arms raised, stopping Rito in his tracks. "What's wrong Rito?"
"I-I… I- well Um." Hiro grasps Rito's shoulder stopping his stuttering.
"Take slow and deep breaths…" Hiro advises and Rito quickly complies. "Now tell me what happened."
Rito leans close to Hiro. "Well, on the way to school, I met Sairenji-san while talking to her, Ren pushed me and I accidentally grabbed her butt!" Rito whispers.
"Oh…"
"I tried to apologize earlier but Sairenji-san ran off to class!"
"Well what did you say to Sairenji-san earlier?"
"I said 'I'm sorry for grabbing your butt.'"
Hiro's eyes narrow. "... When you apologized, did you say those exact words out loud?..." He deadpans.
"Yeah- Oh… Oh…" Rito's eyes widen, his jaw drops, and slowly his face turns red, realizing his mistake.
The reincarnate firmly grasps both of Rito's shoulders. "Look, you should calmly walk over to her, and apologize for what happened this morning. Don't go into detail of what you accidentally did, that's embarrassing to say in public, it's why Sairenji-san ran, you made a scene. Just say something like, 'I'm sorry about earlier.' should be more than enough for her to know what you mean." Hiro advises cautiously.
The clumsy harem protagonist gulps and nods with a firm resolve. "I will do that, thanks Hiro!" Rito then stiffly enters the classroom, heading over Haruna, careful to not fall or trip. Haruna turns, seeing Rito and lightly blushes.
"U-um…" Rito stutters. "S-sairenji-san, s-sorry about earlier." He says while rubbing the back of his head.
Haruna's face turns a bit more red. "It's okay Yuuki-san, I know you didn't mean it." Rito sighs in relief. "Also, after school, can I talk to you alone?"
Rito straightens and blushes. "Sure!" He replies quickly.
Hiro rolls his eyes with an all knowing smile.
Rito really forgot it was his birthday today…
The Reincarnate enters the class and looks around, noticing that many of female classmates are staring at him, or at least when he looks at them, they immediately look away.
That's strange…
Hiro shrugs, taking his seat behind Haruna and greets her politely, right before the bell rings.
With Haruna speaking to Rito to give her gift, Hiro takes advantage, jogging back to the Yuuki Household to help prepare for the surprise with his gifts in hand.
Hiro rings the doorbell and he hears some footsteps, the door opens revealing Mikan. "Hiro you made it, come on in!" Hiro complies, entering the house, removing his outdoor shoes.
"How close is Rito to coming home?"
"Don't know, last I checked, he is going to meet a classmate afterschool and is giving him a gift I think." Hiro shrugs.
"Oh, who?"
"Sairenji Haruna, you know her?"
"Oh…" Mikan blinks. "... Yeah I met her…" Mikan replies with a smug grin.
"So you know Rito's crush too huh?" Hiro says, grinning back
"It was kind of obvious seeing him talk to her at the aquarium when we went shopping earlier with Lala, how did you figure it out?"
"Well in school, I often see Rito looking at Sairenji-san and the fact that Rito ran hard throughout the school just to save her from that alien earlier."
Mikan nods. "They have known each other since Middle School."
"Maybe that's when she stole Rito's heart." Hiro whispers and Mikan nods, raising her finger over her mouth, winking.
The Reincarnate does the same action, officially sealing the deal they made.
"Hey Hiro! What were you and Mikan-chan talking about?" Lala says.
"Just picturing Rito's reaction to the surprise." Hiro lies.
"I can't wait for Rito to see my gift! Check it out!" Lala opens the patio door and Hiro walks out, seeing Celine in her first form, which is the largest living plant he has ever seen.
The Reincarnate sweat drops and waves his hand, the plant waves back with their vine with a smile.
"That's quite a gift." Hiro comments and Lala nods, smiling wide.
"Yep! You think he will like it?"
"Of course."
"Knowing Rito, he would but I imagine it would be quite a surprise." Mikan assures.
"Not certain if my book about plants and the best way to grow them would be helpful for your gift Lala…" Hiro mutters, looking at the bag in his hand.
"Don't worry, Momo said most plants have very similar needs, including this one, so the book should help Rito." Lala assures
"That's good." Hiro says with a small smile
"Is there anything that we need to do?" Hiro asks, looking around the house, which looks exactly the same, other than a banner with Rito's name near the front door.
"Just gotta wait for my dad and Zastin." Mikan answers and the doorbell rings. "Oh it must be them." The imouto walks over the door, opening it, revealing Yuuki Saibai, Rito and Mikan's father, with Zastin, Lala's bodyguard and Saibai's assistant. "Hi dad, hi Zastin, you made it at a good time, get in quick, Rito might be coming soon!"
"I may have a lot of work to do but I would never miss my children's birthday!" Saibai says with a proud smile.
"I couldn't miss Princess Lala's Fiance's birthday." Zastin replies with a professional tone.
"Hmm, who are you?" Saibai says, pointing at Hiro.
The reincarnate bows politely. "My name is Akatsuki Hiroto, I'm Rito's friend at school, nice to meet you Yuuki-san."
The manga artist grins wide, lifting his hand and Hiro grasps it. The reincarnate then feels Saibai's grip slowly tightening and he tightens his grip back, matching the artist's grip strength. Saibai gives Hiro a nod of approval.
"Nice to meet you, call me Saibai!" Saibai greets with a smile and Zastin walks over to Hiro.
"Pleasure to meet you Akatsuki-san, I am Zastin, Commander of the Deviluke Royal Guard and Saibai-sama's chief assistant. I must thank you for helping Rito and Lala-sama in school." Zastin says, shaking Hiro's hand.
"It's not a problem, nice to meet you too." Hiro replies.
Celine outside makes some noises, leaning down.
"Oh, she must be telling us that Rito is near!" Lala realizes. "Hurry, get ready!" Mikan quickly grabs the confetti popper, Zastin grabs two fans with the Japanese flag on them and everyone huddles near the staircase.
The door opens-
""SURPRISE! Happy Birthday Rito!"" Everyone cheers and Rito stands there slack jaw.
"Huh?" Rito mutters.
"He forgot, I knew it." Mikan smirks and Saibai reminds his son his birthday.
Rito spaces out, looking at the calendar.
"What's up Rito? You're spacing out." Lala asks.
"Oh no, it's nothing! Thank you everyone!" Rito says, smiling wide.
"Heey, Rito! I got you a present!"
"You did?"
"Lala-sama scoured the very stars to secure a gift for you, Rito-dono." Zastin explains
"It's an incredibly rare flower that blooms on the planet Plantas. I knew I absolutely had to get you one for your birthday!" Lala claims.
"Lala…" Rito murmurs staring at Lala, completely stunned.
"I put it in the garden, hurry and take a look!" Lala says, breaking Rito's daze.
"Oh, okay." Rito says, following Lala to the patio door, until a vine wraps around his legs and pulls him out of the house. "WAHH!"
Celine holds Rito upside.
"Well Rito? Isn't it a cute flower?!" Lala says.
"Woah, that thing's wild heck of a present ain't it Rito?" Saibai says and Mikan smiles in amusement.
"Yeah… Good luck taking care of it." Mikan says.
"You got this Rito." Hiro encourages and Rito sighs in acceptance.
A few days have passed, Lala told Hiro that she completed her lab and will create some self defense weapons. However, later in class, Rito felt sick, Haruna took him to the nurse's office, during lunch time Hiro and Lala went to check on Rito…
Only to find that Rito has shrunk to be a tiny bit taller than an eraser. Mikado, the nurse, was quickly walking back so Lala placed him under her shirt, right on her boobs, Hiro and Lala quickly lied and left the room.
Since Lala had to go to P.E class, Hiro had to take care of Rito, and since he couldn't risk Rito getting spotted. He simply placed the tiny protagonist in the school library with some crackers, a bottle cap full of water, and a book about the lectures Rito missed earlier.
A little bit later, Rito came to class, explaining that he came back to normal and Lala explained that the effect was likely time limited.
The reincarnate however, had suspicions that were it not for his intervention, Rito would have been in various lewd positions with some of the girls in the school. Especially since Lala likely was going to leave Rito on her bare chest.
"Hiro, you are a lifesaver…" Rito praises thanking Hiro for his sensibility, patting his shoulder.
Next day, Lala was acting strange, like the opposite of her usual behavior, so Hiro asked Rito to check her temperature and after taking Lala to the roof, Rito noticed how hot Lala's head was. That was when Mikado-sensei arrived, explaining that Lala likely had a 'Reversal Fever.' A low grade fever illness that can completely change the person's personality, something Lala likely caught when she got that gift for Rito. Mikado then revealed herself to be an alien and gave Lala some medicine.
Two days later, Lala is now normal and Rito is tired. Earlier in the morning Rito told Hiro how he had to help his dad with the manga the night before. Which is very unfortunate since the activity in P.E class today is a marathon.
Hiro stretches, preparing himself until two hands suddenly grasp his arms and chest.
"Hmm, you're actually more muscular than you look." Risa appraises, groping Hiro's body and the Reincarnate, pushes her hands away, stepping back with a pink face.
"Why were you suddenly groping my body?" Hiro questions with his arms folded. Usually Risa just gropes girls.
"Just noticed you've gotten a bit bigger but in a good way.~" Risa points out with a wink and raises her finger. "Got some firm arms there, I can only imagine how nice it feels to for you wrap your arms around me.~"
Hiro rolls his eyes. "Thanks..." He mutters, trying to calm down and not overreact to a pretty girl flirting with him.
When he was thirteen years old, Hiro maintained a good consistent workout routine every almost single day, except his birthday. Now that he is physically fifteen, his growth spurt might be finally hitting him and his muscles seem to be shaping up well. Still though, why did Risa grope him and what's with the sudden interest?
Risa walks back to a group of girls, whispering something, and the girls murmur in agreement, staring at Hiro.
What's that about?
Hiro shrugs, ignoring the stares and turns back, seeing Lala give Rito some strange shoes. The reincarnate's stomach plummets, since Lala has an infamous reputation where her inventions most of the time, causes chaos. He raises his hand and moves towards the two.
"Wait-
"WAHHH!" Rito screams as the shoes seem to force his legs to run in a direction with no signs of control or stopping.
"With Super Speedy Sprinter-kun! You can run a marathon with no sweat even if you are asleep, Rito!" Lala explains.
"Lala you should turn it off!" Hiro yells. "He's going to hit the gym!" He points out seeing the direction Rito is going.
"Oh! Okay!" Lala raises her phone and pauses. "Um… I forgot how to turn it off." Right on cue, Rito slams through the gym doors, knocking them off the hinges.
Were Hiro not a reincarnate he would have face faulted like an anime character, so instead he just sighs.
Some things are just inevitable…
Now it's science class, Rito… he is very bruised. Hiro did try to help with some of his wounds, handing the guy a cold can of juice.
Hiro ends up in a group different from Lala and Rito, he sits next to Arai Sayaka.
"The mice are pretty cute." Sayaka comments and Hiro nods in agreement.
"Oh, I've got it!" Lala suddenly exclaims and Hiro turns, seeing the alien princess raises some sort of spray. "This will perk you right up!" She says, aiming it at Rito and Hiro stands up from his desk.
"Wait!-
"Enjoy!" Lala says spraying, Rito narrowly dodges it with a yelp and the spray hits the mice.
"What's wrong?" Sayaka asks.
"Oh no…" Hiro mutters.
Smash!
The glass box explodes and all the mice leap out fast as a baseball pitcher's throw.
"The Mice have escaped!" A guy yells.
"What! Where are they?!" A girl asks, frantically looking for the little rodents.
One leaps onto Sayaka's skirt, biting and clawing on it. "EEEK! Help me!" She yells and Hiro quickly takes off his blazer jacket, using it to protect his hand as he grabs the mice off of the green haired girl.
"Thanks." Sayaka says with a sigh of relief, inspecting her skirt, fortunately it has very little damage.
Hiro firmly grasps the berserk rodent as it gnaws on his jacket trying to bite his hand through the fabric.
"Get off my hair!" Risa shrieks as Mio struggles to help her friend and Hiro moves over to the girl, yanking the mice off her hair with the other half of his jacket.
"Ouch!" He winces, feeling the rodents starting to rip his jacket and bite his hand, so he wraps the two mice up with his entire jacket, forming layers. "They're ripping through! Someone get the cage quickly!"
"I'll get one!" Sayaka yells, running to the corner of the class, some of the girls follow her example, yelling out the same intentions.
The boys in the class followed Hiro's example, taking off their blazer jackets to capture the mice with little worry of being bitten.
Ten minutes later, the class managed to round up the rampaging mice, placing them in metal cages.
"Good idea using the blazer jackets to catch the mice, Akatsuki-san." A girl praises, and everyone nods.
"You were pretty cool…" A girl shyly compliments.
"Thanks." Hiro humbly accepts and frowns, seeing Lala is missing, he does vaguely recall Rito yelling something but couldn't decipher what he was saying during the commotion.
Later the principal got some of them replacements for the ripped blazers and failed in his attempt to keep the ripped clothing from the girls.
"Rito what happened?" Hiro asks, as they walk out of the school together. After science class, Hiro couldn't find Lala at school all day.
Rito explained "I yelled at her and she ran out of class…" Hiro sighs in response, and Rito slouches.
"Rito, do you hate Lala?" Hiro asks and Rito stiffens, rubbing the back of his head.
"No I don't, but I'm getting tired of her using her inventions without being careful about it or asking me… I feel bad for yelling though, since she just wanted to help." Rito admits.
"Well it's too late now, what matters is what you do afterwards, you were right to be upset about Lala not considering your feelings but yelling was a bad move. When you see Lala, apologize for yelling, then you two should have a serious and calm discussion about your irritation over Lala's careless decisions, hopefully Lala will learn from this. I have a feeling that deep down inside, Lala is a kind girl. If given the chance to prove it, she will likely put in more effort." Hiro advises.
Rito nods. "I'll do that, thanks for the advice Hiro." He says. "I'm going to jog back home and apologize!"
"See ya Rito!"
"Bye Hiro!"
The next day, Rito and Lala face each other on the roof during lunch time.
"Lala… I'm sorry for yelling at you when you were only trying to help." Rito apologizes.
"It's okay, I forgive you, you were tired and cranky, plus you got hurt earlier…" Lala says, recalling her previous actions. "I'm sorry for not considering your feelings and doing something without asking if you wanted help."
Rito nods. "About that." Lala perks up. "Lala, you should be more careful about your inventions, they have issues and sometimes those issues can really hurt people. I ran through the gym, fell on a girl and got beat up." Lala frowns. "Then those mice, they got crazy and yeah I did dodge the spray but since the spray makes people berserk, I probably would have been very angry and dangerous too." Lala slouches.
"Next time, just make sure it's good and also please explain what it does before activating them."
"Okay, I promise!" Lala says, hugging Rito, hiding her frown.
The following day, Lala speaks to Hiro alone on a bench.
"Um… Hiro, I wonder, do you know why Rito yelled at me?" Lala asks, while Haruna did provide her some insight, the Princess wanted to know more and Haruna did suggest that a guy's opinion might help too, which is why Lala is speaking to Hiro. "I mean, I know I caused a lot of trouble earlier but, is there any other reason?"
"Well I suppose it's because Rito might be stressed out…" Hiro proposes.
"How come?"
"Before you came, he was just a guy who worried about finding love, getting good scores in school and doing house chores… Until a certain Princess stumbled upon him and changed his life…" Hiro says, lifting hands towards Lala. "Now he has to take care of you, and worry about upsetting your father, who threatened to Rito that he will blow up Earth." Lala frowns at that point.
"Then there are those aggressive suitors after you, suitors who are trash, willing to hurt people to get to you." Lala frowns even deeper.
"That can be very stressful for someone who isn't used to such a chaotic life, I mean maybe your family or guards got used to it but Rito likely had nothing like that growing up until now." Hiro concludes.
Lala looks at the ground. "I see…"
"Oh, sorry, was I too harsh?"
The Princess shakes her head. "No, you're right, thanks for telling me this Hiro, you're a good friend." Lala replies with a small smile.
"Knowing you, I know you will do everything you can to make a good change to Rito's life as well." Hiro says and Lala's mood brightens immediately. "Despite these issues, sometimes Rito seems to have a good time with you too, and maybe he sometimes even forgets about those stressful things."
It's true, there are times where Rito enjoyed Lala's company before and based on his memories of the manga Rito eventually confesses to Lala.
"Forget…" Lala murmurs and Hiro barely misses it.
"Huh?"
"Thanks Hiro, I'll be better!" Lala declares, ignoring Hiro's question, hugging him tightly.
"A-and… If you need help just call or text me." Hiro groans, too focused on trying to breath from the tight hug and misses the fact that Lala doesn't wear a bra.
"I will!"

Thanks for reading my chapter, sorry I took a while, I've been busy. Also the chapter was made to be much longer but then I realized the length was too long, so I split the chapter in half. Next chapter should be ready in a few days.
Again pretty canon compliant chapter but there are some different changes that may affect Hiro's life later on this series.
Question, should Hiro get a harem or just one girl?
