Yami's Debut

With his parents enjoying Hiro's gift, they go on to take a well deserved break, although they were a bit reluctant to leave their son but Hiro assured them that he can manage on his own for a week and they are only gone for about four days.

With no one home, Hiro visited the Yuuki household, using one of Lala's somehow solid digital testing rooms, he practiced his aim with the Sticky gun. The results were okay, Hiro managed to keep the shots consistent but it was about a hundred centimeters in diameter… No good if he had to make a precise hit. The reincarnate sighed and cleaned the target with the spray.

Hiro walked out of the room finding Zastin inside the main lab, wearing rubber gloves, grabbing and moving Lala's unfinished devices from the haphazard container.

"Hello Zastin-san." Hiro greeted Lala's bodyguard.

"Hello Akatsuki-san." Zastin greeted back and continued grabbing the unfinished devices.

"What are you doing?" Hiro asked.

"I'm organizing Lala-sama's unfinished inventions and putting them in a more secure container. I heard about Rito-dono becoming small by accident, as Commander of the Deviluke Guard, I must make sure Lala's unfinished inventions are in a place less likely to harm her or anyone else." Zastin explained.

"Good idea." Hiro said, recalling Lala and Rito's explanation on how the protagonist became small. "You need help?"

"No thank you, since you are Lala-sama's precious friend, I do not wish for you to be harmed for helping me do my job."

"Okay then." Hiro nodded, he walked to the exit but stopped as an idea formed in his head.

"Zastin-san, do you have any data about assassins in the Galaxy?" Hiro questioned.

"Of course, why do you ask?"

"Rito, Lala and I were lucky that Ghi Bree was actually not a dangerous threat. In fact I'm willing to bet if a scumbag suitor tried to harm Rito or anyone she cared about, Lala could take them down with no sweat." Hiro praised.

"True, she is Emperor Gid's daughter."

"But a weak suitor might be smart enough to hire a high class assassin to take care of Rito swiftly before Lala could stop them and if Lala fought them, that could go very badly." Hiro pointed out, remembering that Yami was hired by someone to take Rito out in the manga.

Zastin's eyes widened. "I see your point." The bodyguard removed his gloves, walked over to a table and pulled out a laptop-like device from underneath his cape somehow. "However, figuring out which assassin might go after Rito will be very tricky even if I listed the most lethal ones." Zastin said as he turned the device on and Hiro sat nearby to look.

"The Galaxy is a big place…" Hiro muttered and Zastin hummed in agreement. The list on Zastin's laptop was over a hundred thousand.

"Try narrowing down the list of assassins that are known to be attractive females." Hiro proposed.

"Why attractive females specifically?"

"Peke mentioned the majority of the suitors only lusted for Lala and the throne. I imagine a rich suitor would put in some effort to find an assassin that's easy on the eyes."

"Easy on the eyes?"

"Pleasant to look at." Hiro clarified. "I imagine some suitors would be quite spoiled, bratty, and wouldn't want to speak to an ugly assassin regardless of their reputation." Truthfully Hiro is trying to get info on Yami naturally as possible since he technically has no source of her identity other than his mind, which is why he is asking Zastin.

"A valid point, many suitors were rather unfitting of their position." Zastin commented, due to his personal unpleasant experience of meeting them, and typed on the laptop. Hiro saw the list of contacts narrowed down to about a thousand contacts, at the very top, is a familiar blonde girl with red eyes.

"Who's that one at the top of the list?" Hiro pointed out, acting oblivious to Yami's reputation.

"Golden Darkness, one of the most deadliest assassins in the entire galaxy, has the power to turn any part of her body into a weapon." Zastin answered, eyes narrowing. "It's very likely a suitor will hire her to deal with Rito…"

"... Do you have data on her last known targets and their reputation?" Hiro asked.

After collecting information on Yami's life as an assassin, Hiro goes out grocery shopping with Mikan for dinner tonight.

"Thanks for helping Hiro." Mikan said, holding two grocery bags.

"No problem, it's the least I could do since you're letting me eat with all of you." Hiro replied, holding three grocery bags.

Mikan smiled in appreciation. Knowing that Hiro's parents are on vacation, Mikan, Rito and Lala figured that Hiro might be a little lonely for a few days, which led to inviting Hiro to have meals with them during the Winter break. Today, Rito is busy helping out his dad and Lala is trying to invent something similar to an anime she watched on TV, which meant it was up to Hiro to help Mikan.

Having Hiro over has helped Mikan a lot with getting their daily chores done, giving her lots of freetime recently. She's glad Hiro is Rito's friend, he seems very mature, at least compared to Saruyama. He is certainly a good influence for Rito and level headed enough to help Rito out in places where Mikan cannot, like during school.

The imouto faced forward and blinked seeing a cute red eyed girl with really long blonde hair, longer than Lala, wearing strange black risqué clothing with many belts on her legs.

"Huh what a strange girl." Mikan pointed out and Hiro looked at where Mikan was staring.

Hiro gasped, realizing the girl Mikan is looking at is Yami, the 'Kuudere'.

"You recognize that girl?" Mikan questioned, noticing Hiro's odd reaction, unaware that her voice caught the assassin's attention.

Hiro gulped as Yami's crimson eyes met his, he felt a wave of goosebumps appear over his body. Hiro, sweatdropped and blinked, placed his hand behind Mikan's lower back.

"Quick, let's go over this way, I'll explain later." Hiro muttered.

"Uh okay." Mikan said and Hiro moved them to a nearby alleyway.

"So what's going on?" Mikan asked.

"Summary is, that girl is probably a dangerous alien assassin I heard about and I should call Lala and warn her about the assassin." Hiro quickly answered, putting down the bags, and pulled out his phone but a petite hand tightly grasped his wrist.

The reincarnate yelped and out of reflex, he drew the sticky gun, but found his arm and entire torso wrapped in golden colored hair.

"Hiro!" Mikan yelled, seeing her friend restrained by hair. "Hair?"

"I'm fine, don't panic!" Hiro said, failing to calm himself and Mikan froze, staring at the pretty blonde girl restraining her friend with her hair.

"You know me?" Yami stated rather than questioned and Hiro sighed.

"Yeah, I got a few alien friends, so I am somewhat aware of the large galaxy beyond this world. What does Golden Darkness want with me?" Hiro asked, already feel defeated.

"Golden Darkness?" Mikan muttered in confusion.

"One of the strongest assassins in the galaxy." Hiro explained

"Oh…"

"... I noticed that you recognized me and was curious, but then I heard that you were going to call someone named Lala." Yami said. "Do you mean Princess Lala Deviluke?"

"... Yes." Hiro confirmed. Lying about it would be a bad move, socially awkward or not, Yami is formidable in other aspects than just her powers. She likely can tell when someone is lying. "She's my friend and classmate in school."

"She's also my friend too." Mikan added.

"..." Yami stared at the two silently for a few seconds and turned to Hiro. "I suggest not to fight, it will only end poorly for you." Yami said.

"I won't." Hiro nodded and Yami slowly placed Hiro down, freeing him from her hair. The reincarnate holstered the sticky gun underneath his jacket.

"What are your names?" Yami asked.

"I'm Hiroto, and this is my friend, Mikan." Hiro introduced, not including their family names, worried the conversation would become complicated if Yami learned that Mikan is Rito's little brother. Said girl was confused but went along with Hiro's introduction, trusting her brother's friend.

"... Is Princess Lala happy?"

Hiro and Mikan blinked at the question. Hiro realized Yami is trying to gather intel on Rito and determine his morals. Meanwhile Mikan was slightly confused by the question.

"Um, yeah." Hiro answered. "Lala often seemed very happy in school, especially when hanging out with her fiance Rito. I mean considering how Lala often had to reject many horrible suitors, a nice guy like Rito was probably the first best guy she had ever met and fell in love with." Hiro explained, trying to add emphasis on the fact that Rito is kind.

"It's true, Lala seems very happy here on Earth and was often fascinated by our culture here in this town, especially with Rito." Mikan vouched.

"I see…" Yami murmured.

"Are you here to assassinate Lala?" Mikan suddenly asked and Hiro sweatdropped, why ask the dangerous assassin that question?! He shifted his body in front of the girl protectively, while Yami is less likely to attack Mikan, who isn't her target, he's worried that the question would lead to Yami learning Mikan's relation to Rito, leading up to a tense situation.

"No, my target isn't Princess Lala." Yami replied, Hiro and Mikan both sighed in relief.

"Y-you know… If you want to know if Lala is truly happy here, I could call her and have her come over." Hiro offered, perhaps Lala could do something with Yami and unlike the manga, Rito would be far away from danger.

"..." Yami stared at Hiro, contemplating his offer. "Very well but I will listen as well, ask her to come alone to the park near the grocery store you came from."

Hiro nodded, entering Lala's number, and turned on speaker mode. The reincarnate's face turns a bit pink as Yami leaned close to him. In spite of the tense situation Mikan couldn't help but smirk at Hiro's expression. The normally calm and seemingly cool headed person is flustered from being near a cute girl.

"Hey Hiro~! Why are you calling?" Lala said through the phone

"Hi Lala, can you come over to the park alone, Mikan and I kind of got in a situation and we need your help." Hiro asked, omitting the truth.

"Sure~!" Lala answered. "See you soon!"

"That was easy…" Hiro said as he closed his phone.

"She is always eager to help." Mikan commented.

Hiro and Mikan sat on the bench together with the grocery bags, while Yami stood nearby. Lala flew down to the park wearing her usual tight fitting suit with wings and the large Peke mushroom like hat.

"Hey Hiro, hey Mikan-chan~!" Lala landed with a smile. "What's the problem and who's that cute girl?" Lala asked, pointing at Yami.

"Well, she's the 'problem' and she has some questions for you." Hiro answered and Yami stepped forward.

"Are you happy with Rito?" Yami asked bluntly.

"I am." Lala answered naturally with a smile. "He's not like the other suitors I had to meet, he's nice and kind."

"What do you think of Earth so far?" Hiro asked, wanting Lala to explain more, to prove Lala's happiness to Yami and out of curiosity of what Lala thinks so far.

"It's a nice, peaceful planet, strange and different from Deviluke but nice in its own way. Filled with many different and similar things in this world, filled with interesting people. I get to meet nice people like Hiro and Mikan-chan. I got to make new friends and I got to meet Rito…" Lala answered wholeheartedly with a bright smile.

"I see…" Yami muttered.

Hiro sighed, standing up, partially blocking Mikan. "Are you here to assassinate Yuuki Rito?" He said, ripping off the band aid.

"... Yes…" Yami confirmed.

""WHAT?!"" Both Lala and Mikan screamed.

"My client told me that Yuuki Rito is a villain, who threatened Lala so he could become emperor and oppress the entire galaxy." Yami explained.

"Rito is nothing like that at all!" Lala argued

"My brother isn't a villain! He's the nicest person in the world!" Mikan yelled standing up, and Hiro raised his arm in front of Mikan protectively.

"You're his sister?..." Yami said and her eyes narrowed at Hiro "You knew Rito was my target…" She stated rather than questioned and the reincarnate shrugged, trying to hide his nervousness.

"I found it strange for someone of your reputation to be here in this specific town, hence why I tried to call Lala until you stopped me. After someone threatened Lala and Rito, just in case I didn't want you to find out that Mikan is his sister." Hiro explained and Mikan's eyes widened in realization, remembering how Hiro greeted her instead of letting Mikan greet herself. Introducing their given names.

"Then, realizing Mikan and my relationship to Lala, you questioned if Lala was truly happy, trying to indirectly grasp on Lala's feelings, if she was threatened, she would have difficulty hiding it from her friends, we would have caught a detail." Hiro continued.

"I knew there was little chance that you were here to assassinate Lala, even if you succeeded, which was extremely doubtful, killing the Crown Princess would have brought the entire army of Deviluke and the emperor himself to try and kill you. As good as you are, there's only so much you can do if you are wanted across the galaxy from Emperor Gid. You would have been hunted relentlessly by a vengeful father, such rage cannot be quelled so easily without the death of someone responsible for such rage." Hiro said. "So it made sense that like Ghi Bree, someone hired you to take Rito out, if you succeeded, you would less likely be hunted by the entirety of Deviluke if it was just the fiance Lala just met."

Mikan and Lala stared at Hiro in surprise at his deductive reasoning.

"You are rather sharp…" Yami said, almost scrutinizing Hiro.

"Thanks, but knowing that Lala is actually happy and Rito isn't a scumbag you once thought, therefore, the target you seeked, never truly existed." Hiro said, trying to get Yami to leave peacefully. "You are an assassin with morals, you have taken down people who were known to be terrible in the galaxy, recently you took down someone who sold terrible lethal drugs, many law enforcement struggled to end it, until you came and ended that drug for good." Hiro pointed out, recalling the information Zastin provided about Yami's recent targets.

Hearing how Yami took down terrible people, confirmed that deep down inside, the sweet innocent girl, Eve is still in there despite what she went through.

"..." Yami paused. "It's true I have taken down terrible people but your informant was wrong about one thing, once I take a contract, I always fulfill it no matter what kind of person the target may be. Such is the role of Golden Darkness."

"Whaat?!" No, you can! That's awful!" Lala argued.

"That's not right!" Mikan added.

"People with your upbringings would likely struggle to understand… What it means to be wholly and completely alone in this universe…" Yami stated coldly, sending chills to everyone's spine.

"Yep, you've got a point. Which is why I came to see the galaxy outside of my palace, because there's soo much stuff I don't know! Already I learned so much here in this little town!" Lala said with a bright smile and Yami stiffened.

"You don't have to be alone you know…" Mikan offered earnestly and Hiro smiled at Mikan's kind conviction. "You can try learning it with us…"

A gust of wind blasted them.

"What the?" Mikan yelped but Hiro shielded Mikan with his body from the wind and looked up, seeing an alien ship above them.

Crap.

"What are you doing, Golden Darkness?! Why are you wasting time talking to them, you're supposed to kill Rito now!"

"That voice… Lacospo?!" Lala exclaimed, recognizing one of her suitors.

Hiro's eyes narrowed and grabbed Mikan, dragging her behind a tree. "Stay behind here, don't draw attention to this guy."

"Huh, but-"

"Stay." Hiro said firmly, grasping both of Mikan's shoulders and stared directly into her eyes. Mikan's cheeks turned pink from how close they were but it quickly faded when Mikan saw how serious Hiro looked.

Mikan nodded silently and Hiro walked away, Mikan peeked her head out behind the tree, still somewhat hidden.

The alien ship let out a small beam of light and figured appeared, slowly floating down to the ground. The beam of light disappeared revealing a very short green skinned, pointy eared alien.

"Ta Da! Behold! It is I, Lacospo, the Prince of Gaama and foremost of all your suitors!" The alien announced with his arms wide open. "Today, you see, I've come to Earth to pick you up so we can finally be married with all haste!"

'He's a total shrimp…' Mikan thought with a frown, there was Ghi Bree who was said to be a fake tough guy but… Really? Not only that but from the introduction alone, she can already tell this guy is full of himself. This is what Lala and Rito have to deal with? Yeesh…

" Now come, come Lala-tan! Let us be married~!" Lacospo exclaimed.

Lala pulled her eye and stuck her tongue out. "Nyahh! No way would I ever marry you! You sent an assassin to kill Rito! You're the WORST!"

"T-the… The worst?!"

"You heard me! I'd NEVER marry somebody so terrible!" Lala declared.

"B-but…" Lacospo trailed off. "Lala… Why don't you understand?! Despite going this far to show my love!..." He muttered but it wasn't as quiet as he thought as Hiro heard it and immediately scoffed, which caught the Alien Prince's attention.

"What was that?" Lacospo growled, angry but to everyone else it made him look bratty and the least threatening person in the world.

"It's not that hard to figure out why Lala hates you…" Hiro said, glaring back. "Lala is the kindest girl I have ever met! She likes helping people the best she can!" Lala nodded at Hiro's point. "If you truly cared for Lala, you would notice that Lala clearly likes being with Rito, he isn't some evil manipulator you made up in your head. Even if you did succeed in killing Rito, Lala would have hated you more for killing someone she genuinely liked and yet you are so shocked on why she seemed so angry at you… If Lala rejected you in the past, why do you think she would accept it now after learning that you hired Golden Darkness to kill Rito? News flash shorty! Killing a girl's lover is not attractive!"

"Yeah!" Lala added "You tell him Hiro!" Even Mikan from a distance nodded.

"She would understand that I am better for her afterwards! That Rito was tricking her!" Lacospo argued. Lala, Mikan and Hiro rolled their eyes at the pathetic argument, while Yami didn't roll her eyes, her pupils somehow looked sharp as a knife.

"And yet you hired an assassin, in hopes of killing Rito, if you succeeded you would have made Lala incredibly HURT! You should know that! If you believed you were better, you should have actually tried to show Lala that you were a 'better husband' for her, go on a date, talk to each other or something!"

"I DID until Rito tricked her!"

Hiro raised his eyebrow at Lacospo, incredulous to the claim and he turned to Lala. "So what happened?" He asked

"He was selfish and mean when we met," Lala said and pointed at the suitor. "You didn't like the things I liked, you said I was childish! You only showed off, acted mean to people and after seeing your harem of women I knew you only wanted my body!"

"B-but I love you!" Lacospo argued.

Hiro turned to Lala. "What did his harem look like?"

"They were all well endowed, attractive young women." Peke explained with a scoff.

"Oh…" Hiro murmured, glaring at Lacospo "I see… Deep down beneath your self justifications, you actually lust for Lala's body, her young, well endowed body. You are too egotistical and delusional to recognize that you are a selfish terrible person…" Hiro said and Lala nodded, Mikan frowned.

"That's right! He's dumb and terrible!" Lala commented.

"How… How dare you!" Lacospo yelled in outrage at Hiro's roasts. The alien prince turned to Yami. "Golden Darkness, kill this bastard for spreading lies and slander! I will double your reward!"

"The liar is you! Hiro is a great guy!" Mikan blurted out, defending her friend and Hiro looked at her, slightly panicking.

"You…"

"Don't do it Yami-chan!" Lala yelled, walking next to Hiro, standing in front of him protectively. Getting Lacospo's attention away from Mikan much to Hiro's relief.

"Yami-chan?" Peke said, confused by the nickname.

"..." Yami stared at the Bratty Prince. "... Regarding Yuuki Rito's data, from what I heard he is quite different and from Lala's mood in her relationship with the target, she is not what you said she was. You assured me that the information you gave was true. Surely, it couldn't be that you were trying to deceive me."

"Sh-Shut UP!" Lacospo yelled, pointing at the assassin. "Rito and Hiro are bad guys, they are trying to trick you and Lala-tan, why would I have a reason to lie to you?!

"You knew Golden Darkness's reputation for assassinating bad people only and that's why you lied to her, or maybe even yourself which is more pathetic…" Hiro couldn't help but say and Lala nodded.

"Exactly!" Lala added.

Yami's intense stare scared Lacospo.

"Wh-what is this?! Those eyes! I am your client!" The alien prince turned his eyes away from Yami's glare.

Lacospo grinded his teeth at "That's it! Come forth! Gama-tan!" A beam of light appeared above him and the light disappeared, revealing a large frog-like alien, ribbiting.

"A frog?" Mikan muttered from behind the tree.

"An Erogama?!" Peke exclaimed from Lala's head.

"You know what it is Peke?" Lala asked.

"Yes… It is a rare species and if I'm correct, then that thing is my worst enemy!"

Hiro drew the sticky gun from his jacket and glanced back at Peke, acting oblivious. "Why?-

"Let them have it Gama-tan!" Lacospo yelled, interrupting Hiro, pointing at Yami and the frog-like alien let out a spit. The assassin narrowly dodged it. Its saliva hit the ground with a large splash, hitting some of Yami's clothing, she landed and her clothing started to melt.

"Gama-tan's mucus can only dissolve clothing! He is my most favored pet! Now let's get you nice and naked!"

"Such an ecchi creature…" Yami muttered, transforming her arm into a sword. "I cannot allow you to exist!"

The sight of Yami's transformation shocked Lala and Mikan, like Mikan, Lala was surprised as this was the first time she saw Yami use her power unlike the Manga.

"Woah! She can transform?" Lala said, voicing Mikan's thoughts.

Yami leaped forward in a flash, slashing at the frog only to slide right off, not even leaving a scratch. Much to the assassin's surprise.

Gama's tongue whipped out, hitting Yami back hard, and she fell right towards Hiro. If Hiro recalled correctly, in the manga, Yami's butt fell directly on Rito's face…

The reincarnate gritted his teeth and he stepped back with his arms open, catching Yami with his chest. They both rolled on the ground mitigating the force of the fall, Hiro held the girl protectively as they rolled to a stop.

Hiro grunted from the uncomfortable fall and looked at the girl in his arms "You okay?" Hiro asked and Yami blinked, surprised by his action.

"Why…"

"You're wide open!" Lacospo yelled triumphantly and Hiro shifted his body in front of Yami, trying to shield the girl from the spit, hugging her, surprising Yami again.

But in the last second, Lala intercepted the spit directly.

"Lala!" Mikan cried out in worry, missing Hiro immediately standing up, pulling out a small black can from his pocket.

"O-OH!" Lacospo gasped in awe. "Lala-tan's clothes have- AGH!" He suddenly screamed in pain as Hiro used the pepper spray on him and the alien frog.

"NOPE Lala's nude body is for Rito's eyes only!" Hiro said and Lala giggled, thankful for Hiro's intervention.

Gama-tan cried out in pain, rubbing his eyes with his tongue but it only spreaded the burning sensation to his mouth, doubling its pain.

"Finish it Lala!" Hiro roared and Lala nodded as Peke repaired her clothing.

"NEVER COME BACK LACOSPO!" Lala yelled, letting out a barrage of punches on the suitor and his pet. The last uppercut then sent the two flying, far and high, a star twinkled from where they flew. The alien ship quickly followed them.

"That guy is just the worst!" Lala huffed.

"Yeah…" Mikan agreed with a frown, walking over to Lala.

Lala turned to Hiro with a wide smile. "You were so cool Hiro. Thanks for the help!"

"Yeah." Mikan added. "You were so brave."

"Thank you Hiro-san for stopping Lacospo from seeing Lala's bare body." Peke said.

"Y-you're my friends… Of course I would help…" Hiro replied shyly.

"He's sharp, quick minded and clever, when I was in his grasp, he felt well built, compared to most civilians his age." Yami concluded in her mind and looked at Lala.

"You're quite strong aren't you princess?" Yami stated rather than questioned. "Why did you two protect me? I am your enemy…" Yami asked, looking at both Hiro and Lala in confusion.

"Huh?" But it was Lacospo who put you up to it in the first place! Besides, I definitely couldn't let him do something terrible to a cute girl like you, Yami-chan!" Lala explained.

"C-cute? Me?" Yami stuttered blushing, Hiro resisted the urge to let out a squeal at the gap moe. Mikan smirked at Lala's charisma affecting the stoic cute assassin.

"Huh? Something wrong Yami-chan?" Lala asked, confused by Yami's cute reaction.

"Uh, no! It's just… No one has ever called me that before…"

"Well I suppose when you aren't acting like an assassin, you do look very cute." Mikan commented with a smile, she turned to Lala. "Why did you call her 'Yami-chan'?"

"I just thought it's a cute and an easier name to call her by." Lala answered. "Golden Darkness is too long."

"Yeah, it's a cute name." Mikan agreed.

"Call me whatever you please." Yami said, facing away from them. "I have no interest in minor details like names."

"Where are you going?" Mikan questioned. "Are you still after my brother?"

"No, I'm leaving. The contract is terminated, like Hiroto said, I accepted the contract expecting to kill a horrible person. From what had happened, it's clear that my target never truly existed…" Yami answered.

"Before you go, you can eat dinner with us." Mikan offered. "You can also meet Rito in person and see if Lacospo was lying for certain."

"Yeah Yami-chan, you should try out Mikan's food, it's the best and I'd love to get to know you more!" Lala said enthusiastically and Hiro nodded.

"Me too." Mikan said

Yami stared at the two, her stoic exterior hiding any obvious emotion, Hiro has very little idea what's going on through her head.

"... Very well." Yami accepted, Mikan, Lala and Hiro smiled as their bond formed with the blonde girl. The four walked together back to Mikan's home.

On the way back, Yami and Lala's stomach growled loudly.

"Oops, I haven't eaten anything in a while and hitting that meanie must have made me hungrier." Lala giggled, rubbing her stomach and Yami patted her stomach as it told them more than enough of what she was feeling.

Mikan glanced at the Taiyaki stand. Could be good victory food actually. "Want some Taiyaki?" Mikan asked.

Lala nodded. "Sure, sounds good!"

"Very well." Yami simply answered.

Mikan turned only to find Hiro a step ahead, she gasped and caught up to him.

"Hiro, let me pay! You worked hard today fighting that terrible suitor." Mikan said.

"All I did was catch Yami-san, and pepper sprayed Lacospo, Lala did all the fighting, plus you're cooking for everyone today like all those other times, paying for a snack for everyone instead of you is the least I could do, while we're at it you want one?" Hiro said

Mikan pouted cutely and sighed in defeat, nodding. "Sure…"

"Alright, can I please have four?" Hiro asked the shop owner and pulled out his wallet.

A few minutes later, Hiro handed each girl a fresh warm taiyaki, after handing Yami one, he immediately took a bite, enjoying the taste. He moved to take another bite but paused, glancing at Yami eating her taiyaki, realizing one detail in the manga.

In the manga, Rito first met Yami and handed her a Taiyaki for free…

But this time, Hiro was the one who did it…

'Does it count as cucking if Rito at this moment doesn't have a romantic interest with Yami?' Hiro wondered and then shrugged. 'Nah, it doesn't, at this very moment Rito only has eyes on Haruna and is slowly having eyes on Lala…' He continued to enjoy his snack, missing Yami glancing at him occasionally.

The four returned home, Rito was still busy helping his father but on the phone, he said he was almost done, with that in mind, Mikan began cooking, Hiro helped prepare the table, Lala and Yami talked to each other. Or rather Lala asked a lot of questions and Yami gave her simple answers, not delving into anything too personal.

Mikan frowned while cooking the food on the frying pan, deep in thought.

While nothing bad happened… If she and Hiro didn't accidentally meet Yami-chan, she would have hunted Rito and killed him… Hiro told her of how he learned of Yami, that she had the reputation of a dangerous assassin, not that Mikan is scared of her but it did make her realize how big everything is. That Lacospo might not be the only scumbag suitor who might hire an assassin to take Rito out… Lala is strong but even she might not be able to stop them…

The worrying thoughts distracted Mikan from the food that was starting to burn on the pan and a small fire appeared.

"Kya!" Mikan yelped now seeing the fire.

"MIKAN!" Hiro yelled, grabbing Mikan's shoulder, pressing her against his body, he grabbed the burning pan, and he moved it to the sink, putting out the fire with water. "That was close…" Hiro sighed and turned to Mikan, concerned.

"Are you okay?" Hiro asked and Mikan nodded.

"Yeah I'm alright, thanks…"

"Hiro, Mikan-chan are you two okay?!" Lala asked as she and Yami looked over to the kitchen.

"We're okay." Mikan assured Lala and Yami.

Hiro sighed, grabbing a cup to drink water, missing Mikan glancing at him.

She recalled how protective Hiro was with her when facing Yami and Lascopo…

His serious look when he ordered her to stand behind a tree for safety…

Catching Yami, breaking her fall and protecting her from that giant frog…

And now, Hiro saved Mikan from that fire in front of her in his embrace…

'Rito was right, Hiro is really… Cool…' Mikan mentally concluded, a little flustered, twirling her hair with her finger.

Later, Mikan managed to finish cooking, and right on cue, Rito finally returned home.

"I'm home!" Rito said, taking off his shoes.

"Welcome back Rito!" Lala greeted him with a bright smile like always.

"Hey Rito." Mikan greeted

"Hi Rito." Hiro said.

"Hi everyone, huh? Who is this?" Rito asked, noticing Yami.

"This is Yami-chan! She is an assassin that was hired to kill you~!" Lala explained, uncaring of the context.

"WHAT?!"

"The contract was exterminated, I will not kill you." Yami said and Rito sighed in relief.

"Who hired her?" Rito asked

"A suitor…" Hiro said, giving Rito enough information.

"That makes sense." Rito sighed, he looked at Yami, it would be better to make a good impression, and so he took a step forward. "Well… Nice to meet-" He stopped as he suddenly lost his footing and everything moved in slow motion.

"NOooooo!" Hiro suddenly cried out, knowing what was about to happen but it was too late to stop it!

Rito tripped, his body fell over Yami and they hit the floor. Rito's face was somehow firmly planted into Yami's nether region with his hands over her legs, almost looking like a sex position.

"Again Rito?" Mikan exasperated.

"Out of all the times he falls when I'm not nearby…" Hiro muttered, shaking his head. He looked at Rito who jumped back from Yami with his face bright red.

"S-sorry!" Rito yelped out.

"RITO RUN!" Hiro warned.

"Eh?" Rito looked at Hiro in confusion, until it clicked, remembering Yami's occupation and looked fearfully at her, sensing her growing anger and embarrassment. She glared at Rito, blushing.

"Yuuki Rito, you are ecchi… I hate ecchi… My data about you was wrong… You must die!" Yami declared transforming her long hair into multiple giant fists.

"AHHHH!" Rito screamed as he ran out of the front door, running on the streets, he leaped, barely avoiding the giant hair fist slamming right where he was.

"Hang on Rito!" Lala grabbed Rito and flew away but Yami was close behind, forming wings on her back to catch up. "Please forgive him, it was an accident!"

"Never!"

Hiro closed the door, he turned and looked at Mikan. "With Lala, Rito should be alright… Right?" Hiro said with a sweatdrop.

"Probably…" Mikan nodded, recalling how Lala demolished Lacospo and his gross pet. "I get the feeling Yami doesn't seriously mean to kill him though."

"You might be right…" Hiro agreed as Yami in the manga did this many times before and never actually killed him… Either that or it was plot armor and he doesn't know if that worked here. He looked at the food and at Mikan. "Should we eat without them?" He asked.

Mikan looked at the table, filled with warm food and nodded. "Sure, it would be a waste to let the food go cold."

Hiro took his seat, facing Mikan on the table and they raised both their hands together.

""Itadakimasu"" They both said and grabbed their chopsticks.

Hiro eagerly took large bites of his food, missing Mikan stiffening, her cheeks turned pink.

'I'm alone eating dinner with a guy who isn't my dad or my brother…' Mikan realized 'Why do I feel nervous and weird? Hiro is a friend, we're just two friends enjoying dinner together, we spent time alone together before, why does this feel a bit different?… Lala, Rito and Yami will return soon…' Mikan shook her head and enjoyed her cooking, moving on from the intruding thoughts.

Author's Notes

Hello, welcome to the end of this chapter, I hope you enjoyed it.

Yeah, Yami has made her debut, and Hiro has made a pretty massive change. Hiro met Yami a bit earlier or at least before Rito ran into Yami. Not only that but Hiro and Mikan essentially replaced Rito's role in this chapter.

Overall it is similar to the canon chapters but this does leave a lot more potential to change more events later in the future. I have some ideas of original content mixed into familiar chapters in the near future.

I found it neat to write Mikan having similar thoughts to Rito in this chapter, I mean they are siblings after all, it makes sense that they would have similar thoughts sometimes. Like their reaction to Lacospo being short.

As for Mikan's thoughts, I mean she is 12, she has to deal with hormones, so it's natural for her to be a little flustered with Hiro sometimes when they get too close, Anyone who gets too close with someone of their interested gender they would get flustered. Whether or not she falls for him, only time will tell.

Yami's reputation as an assassin… With a job like that it is implied she had killed before and while it never showed her killing anyone, Yami did express that she didn't want to expose the grim life of an assassin to her innocent friends, so that might be why she never killed, not even that one vengeful woman who wanted to kill her in the Darkness Manga who nearly got her and Mikan killed until Momo saved them.

I imagine when she took the contract to kill Rito she expected to rid the galaxy of one more bad person again only to find out that it was wrong. I get that Yami said she must kill her target regardless because her existence is a weapon, but I think it was somewhat as a front to Lala to express neutral professionalism as an assassin.

I imagine Yami was secretly on the fence on whether or not Rito is a bad person, until Lacospo came down and pretty much confirmed that his information was not the whole truth. Plus we all know Yami is secretly a good kind girl, Eve is still in there, so it makes sense that Yami would subconsciously target terrible people due to her morality.

Here in this chapter, Yami is still curious about Lala and her friends but doesn't have the weird excuse of personally studying her target before they 'kill them'.

As for my Reviewers points, yes Hiro would likely have a harem. Although I have thought of making special chapter arcs where each girl in Hiro's harem gets their own ending with Hiro like the Manga "We Never Learn." (Bokutachi Wa Benkyou Ga Dekinai). What do you think of that? Also please don't forget to talk about this chapter, don't focus so much on the pairing please. I want more than just people shipping my OC please…
