A Whole New Game

Chazz was frozen..and in shock.
What did he just witness!?
What exactly Happened!?
His eyes glanced to the camera in his hand...
"Well...whatever that was...I have all the proof, I need!" Chazz grinned.
He had been snapping photos from the beginning and practically jumped for joy when he had the evidence- But...something else weighed in him.
How would I even begin to explain it?
He thought to himself.
What even IS it? And...more than that...
He paused on the moment he witnessed at the end.
A smaller Connar and a young boy...
Who was that boy? And what was that at the end?
The screaming? The banging?
Connar?
...Just what all have you seen...?
With narrowed eyes and a little bit of reluctance he stood, ready to run off with his camera... But as he stood to leave something- called for his attention.

"DUEL!"

"What!?" Chazz stopped and glanced back through the trees, "Wait...they're dueling now?"
What would even be the point?
He thought to himself.
I always used to beat Connar in our duels...
And she practically watched that punk beat me!
So how can she think she'd have any better chance!?

He had all the evidence he needed so he had no further reason to stay.
Perhaps it was his duelist's pride that implored him to...

"Now My momma raised me right, so as a gentleman, I'll let you have the first move Connie~" Jaden beamed.
"Jaden Yuki, such a charmer~!" Connar giggled and she drew her first card.

Jaden: 4000

"For starters I'll start by Introducing an old friend~" she beamed as her Ebon Magician Squeaked her way onto the field.

Ebon Magician Curran:
ATK: 1200
DEF: 0

"I'll lay two face downs and end my turn."
"Starting with Curran this time I see." said Jaden as he drew his first card.
Hopefully I will be able to take her out before she becomes princess Curran though...
I saw her deck-
I know she has it!
He laughed and slapped down another hero from his hand, "I'll summon Elemental Hero Burstinatrix!" He grinned as a flaming hot female burst through the holograms and took a stand on his field.

Elemental Hero Burstinatrix:
ATK:1200
DEF:800

"Summoning a monster with the same attack as Curran to protect yourself...not too bad Jaden." Connar grinned.
Though it might not be enough to save you...
"Thank you kindly, and to stay that way, I'll throw down two face downs and call it a turn!"
"Matching me card for card then? So be it! I draw!"

This new found confidence Connar displayed shook Chazz as he hid in the foliage.
For whatever reason...
Connar seemed different now.
I don't understand...
He thought to himself.
Why does this duel feel different than every duel she's ever had with me!?
The more he watched, the more irritated he became, but he also couldn't turn away.
Could it have something to do with what just happened...?

"Remember, Jaden, on everyone of my stand by phases, Curran sprinkles a little black magic on you for 300 points per monster on your field!"
"Ahh!" Jaden coughed as the black magician's pixie dust fell upon him dropping his points from 4000 to 3700.

Connar: 4000
Jaden: 4000-3700

"Yeah well...gotta lose life points to take life points I guess!" he laughed lightly even bringing a chuckle to Connar's lips.
"Well here's another familiar face~" She grinned "I summon out White Magician Pekeru!"
The white magician bounced her way on the field and giggled into attack mode.

White Magician Pikeru:
ATK:1200
DEF:0

"And now Prepare yourself Jaden because Curran will be coming at you!"

Works for me!
Jaden smirked
Curran and Burstinatrix have the same attack strength, so they will destroy each other.
Sure I'll be left open for Pikeru this round-
but that also means Connie will have one less monster!
And it being the biggest risk to my life points!
Then she won't be able to defend herself from my next move...

He glanced at his face downs and smiled.
He had a move in mind, but for it to work he needed to take a hit.
"I Know what you're thinking Jaden and it won't work the way you think it will!"
"Say what? What do you mean!?"
"Remember my trap card Waboku?" she asked him, "Well there's more than one way to play it!" she grinned as she flipped it up, "Remember not only do I take no battle damage, my monsters also can't be destroyed as a result of battle this turn! But yours can~!"
"Aww Nuts!" Jaden called out as he held his arms up in defense while Burstinatrix blew up from her battle with Curran.
"And now with Burstinatrix gone, your life points are open to Pikeru~! Go!"
"Ahhh!" Jaden cried out as the white magicican bopped him on the head with her staff, giving him a 1200 point take down.

Connar: 4000
Jaden: 2500

Well so much for that...
Jaden thought to himself as he watched Connar's monster retreat back into its original position.
I was really counting on Curran's destruction for my plan to work!
he sighed and laughed to himself.
Well I guess I'm gonna have to take care of Curran myself in another way!
"I gotta say, Connie," Jaden laughed leaving the girl lost in her confusion, "I did not see that move coming at all! Talk about playing a card." he grinned," Yeah...You got game."
Connar blinked and gave a friendly smile.
"Thanks Jaden." she smiled sweetly.
The difference between how to use a card...
and how to play one.
Hard to believe something she learned from an old babysitter came in handy!
"To end my turn I will throw down two face downs and pass the baton to you."

Aw, Great! I get her to trigger one trap card and she puts two more traps in its place!
Clearly she's building something here...
He huffed lightly to himself as he drew his card and scanned his hand.
She's got a good defense.
He blinked.
On her field she has one monster that heals her life points while the other wittles mine down...
so it's clear she's got some kind of strategy going on too.
He hummed as he thought.
Yeah...

She's got game all right.
Jaden thought to himself as he fingered through his moves.
And it's a whole new game from the one before!
This is a whole new Connar I'm dealing with...
and I gotta say, I like what I see!
He grinned.
