Having Terra join their travels, our heroes are heading towards Ceruso City for Davis to have his first gym battle. Along the way, they've stopped at a local Pokemon Center before hitting the road again.
"I see. So you're traveling with a couple new friends now, are you?" Juliet said. Terra gave home a call and told her all about what's going on. "Sounds like a lot has happened on your first day as a trainer. Have you been able to catch any other pokemon?"
"Not yet, but Pocub will help me with that, and I now got Davis and Cletus to help me out." Terra said.
"That's great to hear. Do be careful, honey. Enjoy your journey." Juliet said and ended the call. While that was going on, Davis got himself registered for the Grecko League.
"There you go, Davis. You're all registered for the Grecko League now." Nurse Joy said. "Also, here." She said as she handed him a small squared box. "This here is a badge case. You can use it to carry the eight badges you earned."
"Great. Thanks a lot." Davis said as he opened it to see it empty, but both sides set for when he gets all eight badges.
"Hey. I got a few supplies." Cletus said. "Are we all set to go?"
"Sure are." Davis said as he and Terra were ready to go.
"Wait. I should tell you one thing." Nurse Joy said. "If you're heading for Ceruso City, you might want to take the path on the left when you come to the fork in the road. The right path leads to an area that holds a lot of fighting Barkles and Sibrisks."
"Barkles and Sibrisks?" Davis questioned.
I want to be the very best
Like no one ever was
To catch them is my real test
To train them is my cause
(Pokemon!)
Every challenge along the way
With courage I will face
I will battle every day to claim my rightful place
(Yeah!)
Pokemon
Gotta catch'em all
Oh, so true
Our courage will pull us through
You teach me, I'll teach you
Po-ke-mon
Pokemon!
(Davis' voice) All Bark and Bite
Curious about these two new pokemon, Davis took a look at them with Terra's help. Barkles looked just like beagle puppies with sandy brown heads with black backs. The other one, Sibrisks, looked just like Siberian Huskies with grey and white fur.
"Barkle, the Puppy Pokemon. A normal-type. Barkles are usually quite playful and loyal. They can be quite popular to be just pets."
"Sibrisk, the Sled Dog Pokemon. A normal and ice type. Sibrisks are usually used for sled driving because their fur helps them withstand cold temperatures, and have an easier time making it through snow."
"Aw. They are both so cute." Terra said.
"Ye. They are cute pokemon, but that makes things more hard to see." Nurse Joy said. "Lately, those two pokemon have been fighting over territory. They keep attacking each other, and some poor trainers have gotten caught up in it. It's not exactly safe, so do be careful."
"How tough can they be when they look like puppies?" Imperialdramon questioned as he didn't think it was a big deal.
...
The Fork
Davis and the others went on ahead with their travels and soon came across the fork in the road that Nurse Joy told them about.
"Here we are. Nurse Joy told us to take the road on the left." Cletus said.
"Aren't we going to check out those other two pokemon? How bad can this battle for territory really be between those two pokemon?" Imperialdramon questioned. They were about to get the answer. They heard something walked through the bushes and saw a fellow Barkle, but it looked hurt. As it walked to them, it collapsed form the pain.
"A Barkle!" Davis said as they all hurried over to try and help it.
"These injuries look rather bad. I'll take care of it." Cletus said. He got to work and tried to help out the little Barkle. They managed to bandaged it up and it seemed like it was doing better. "There you go. You should be okay, but do try to take it easy."
"Arf! Arf!"
"You are such a cute little pokemon." Terra said as she petted the pokemon. "Why would anyone want to hurt you?"
"I'm willing to bet the Sibrisks would." Imperialdramon said. That made poor Barkle a little sad. "I'm guessing that's who did this to you."
"This battle for territory must be serious with the kind of wounds you have." Davis said.
"Well, now what?" Terra questioned.
"That's easy. We're going to have to take this Barkle back to its friends." Davis said. "Nurse Joy might have warned us, but we can't just leave this little guy alone."
"Right idea. Let's go." Cletus agreed with Terra on board. Deciding to help out Barkle, they took the path on the right and would see for themselves just what the deal is with this battle they've been hearing about. They all kept walking through the forest and kept their eyes opened for anything until Barkle raised its floppy ear and heard something. Barkle started barking and alerted the others about it.
"What's wrong, Barkle?" Terra questioned.
"Wait. I think I hear something myself." Imperialdramon said. "It's just on the other side of this cliff." All of them had a look at what was going on and could see it. A bunch of Barkle and Sibrisk were fighting with each other. They kept blasting, biting, and tackling each other. It was like it was an all-out fight between them.
"It's just like Nurse Joy said!" Terra said. "Look at those pokemon! They're all going at each other rather hard! Who knew something so cute could look vicious?"
"This isn't looking good. We better figure out how to stop this or else both sides are surely going to get hurt." Imperialdramon said.
"Leave that part to me." Cletus said as he reached for a pokeball. "Herdier, come out and use Roar! Stop the fighting!" He called out as he released his Herdier.
"Her! Once Herdier came out, it used Roar and covered the whole field with the fighting pokemon. That got all the pokemon to stop fighting, but they all kept glaring at each other and were growling.
"Hey! That's enough!" Cletus said. "Stop all this fighting before someone gets seriously hurt!"
"Cletus is right! If you keep fighting like that, it's not going to be good for either sides!" Davis said. They tried reasoning with the pokemon, but all the dog-like pokemon just kept growling at each other until the Sibrisks took off on their own.
"That did it." Terra said.
"Yeah, but it's going to start up again." Cletus said. "Just look at all of this." They looked around and saw a bunch of Barkles trying to lick their wounds and recover. "I can understand fighting over territory, but that doesn't make it any better."
"Guys, we have to do something. We can't let this go on." Terra said
"But what exactly can we do?" Davis questioned.
"We could try to figure out why all those Sibrisks are trying to take the Barkle's territory." Cletus suggested. "They must be doing this for a reason."
"Good idea." Davis said. "Hey, Barkle. I don't suppose you could lend us a hand and show us where the Sibrisks are?" He asked the one they found. It barked in agreement and showed the way. Imperialdramon and I will check it out. You guys stay here in case they come back." The others agreed to that, so Davis and Imperialdramon followed their new little buddy.
...
Davis
Davis and Imperialdramon followed Barkle to where the Sibrisks might be staying. Hopefully, they can find something that could help stop all the fighting. Barkle showed the way until it suddenly stopped and seemed to be on guard.
"What is it?" Davis questioned?
"Davis, take a look at this." Imperialdramon said. They all looked through the bushes and saw where the Sibrisks have been staying, and could see why they want to change locations. Some of the trees appeared to be dying and there was only a stream in what's suppose to be a river. This place looked tough to live in.
"Oh man... They all looked miserable." Davis said. This place seems to be in bad shape. No wonder they were trying to take the Barkles' land. Why is this place in such bad shape?"
"Look further up the river." Imperialdramon pointed out. They all looked and saw a large rock blocking most of the river. There must have been some sort of rockslide and that big boulder is blocking most of the water. That means the trees aren't getting enough and that's why they're in bad shape. Those trees might be where they get food."
"So that's what's been going on." Davis said as he now understands.
"Si! Sibris!"
"Oh no. They're getting ready to start another attack." Imperialdramon translated. "What do we do now?" Davis had to think fast, and he might just have one.
...
The Barkles
Terra and Cletus did what they could to help the injured Barkle. As they were, Davis and Barkle hurried back before the attack could happen.
"Guys, I know what's going on! I know why they're fighting!" Davis called. "We've got a problem though! There's another attack coming!"
"Correction! It's happening! Behind you! Cletus called. Davis turned around and saw they just barely beat a pack of Sibrisks back. They looked ready to start a fight.
"Everyone, stop!" Terra pleaded. "If you keep this up, you're just going to hurt each other. Can't you see all this fighting is getting you nowhere?" It didn't seem like any of them were going to listen.
"Davis, where's Imperialdramon? We could sure use his help in this." Cletus said.
"I know what's going on. We can help, but you need to stop all the fighting to trust us." Davis offered. "Sibrisk, you just want a livable place? We can help." He's trying to reason with them, but they were like mad dogs. Just then, they heard the howling of their fellow Sibrisks. When they heard that, the fighting was put on hold and they hurried off.
"What's going on?" Terra questioned.
"It's Imperialdramon. Follow me! I'll explain in the way!" Davis said as they all hurried after the Sibrisks.
...
Imperialdramon
Imperialdramon was working on the the boulder that was blocking the water. He tried using his great strength to smash right through the giant stone.
"This thing is rather hard." Imperialdramon complained, but he isn't giving up and kept going as he was making cracks in it. As he was working on it, all of them arrived with them knowing what's going on.
"I get it now. So that's why the Sibrisks have been attacking." Cletus said.
"If we can just get rid of that boulder, water will flow through here and everything should be fine." Terra said. Barkles might have been attacked, but they are understandable pokemon. All of the Barkles got to work as they made their way up the rock and started scratching against the top. "What are they doing?"
"It looks like they're using Dig against the rock to try and break it apart." Cletus said.
"Would that work on solid stone?" Davis questioned. It seems like it is as the large rock was beginning to break apart piece by piece. They kept it up until the rock completely broke apart and the water started to flow through again, turning the stream into a river again.
"It worked! The water is flowing again!" Terra said as they were all glad to see that again. None were happier than the Sibrisks as they all helped themselves to the water. With more water, this part of the forest could come alive again.
...
Later
Davis and the others stuck around to make sure all was well again. It seemed like everything was fine, and they could get back on the road.
"Look at that. They seem to be getting along." Terra said as all the Barkles and Sibrisks were getting along now. "It was so nice of the Barkle to help the Sibrisk like that."
"There's more than one way to end fighting." Cletus said. "Maybe they'll get along and live together from now on."
"With the water, the trees will come back to life with fruit growing. They shouldn't have any problems from now on." Imperialdramon claimed.
"The Barkle helped because it was the right thing. I have a feeling these guys are going get along just fine." Davis claimed as they can share the territory.
Pokemon might fight with each other, but compassion and understanding isn't forgotten. It helps to stop all the fighting. Now that our heroes have helped out these pokemon, they'll be hitting the road for Ceruso City.
