Like flies mesmerized by the smell of food, like fish driven in their prison nests by well choosen bait, like mosquitos attracted to light, a variety of people decided to stop by in Mystic Falls. All of them had a certain history with the town. Dark, dreadfull history. Therefore, only powerful reasons could bring them back in the place that started most or some of their problems.

First, Stefan Salvatore enrolled in the only highschool that was. No one thought much about it, considering he has a well put together story. But when his brother paid him a prolonged visit, questions became to appear on more and more lips.

Soon, their little secret got out and word spread: the Salvatores were vampires. As if the sole knowledge of them fished for more fanged blood suckers, Anna, a young teenage girl, came to town. She proved to be more than she seems at first. Jeremy fall for her and she for him, but she had a mission to fulfill. She helped freeing a dozen or more vampires from a sealed tomb beneath Mystic Falls, where her mother was trapped too.

Eventually, they got together, but their love died short when Anna burned in a fire set by John Gilbert, Elena's birth father and adoptive uncle as it was shockingly revealed. In his distress, young Jeremy turned to Celia, who felt sorry for him and gave in his needs for tenderness, care and love and once again became his girlfriend.

Katherine, almost like she has been in that tomb the whole time, jumped back in the lives of poor, naive Salvatores and caused chaos amongst the people of Mystic Falls. Her actions speak for herself, loud and clear.

Known by everyone as Miss Pierce, the notorious ex of both Stefan and Damon, the old, blood lusted doppleganger hoped to hide and rid herself of a nuisance that has been following her for five hundred years. Of course, she decided to have some fun too. She played with the brothers once more, as if her turning them both and starting fights between them in the past was not enough. Now, she also took a dislike in Elena and torment her too.

Arguably the worst thing she did, she killed Caroline. True, the blonde cheerleader came back to life, reborn as a vampire, but she went through it all alone. Even her sister notived when it was late. But, unlike her friends, Celia stood by her sister's side and provided Caroline support, giving her every ounce of attention she was capable of.

One of the most regretfull visits was the one of Bill Forbes. A father, a husband, a cheater and a hsuband again, this man took vampire hunting to a whole new level. He actually believed he can cure them of their blood lust, but failed to understand the basics of a vampire's nature and anathomy. So, when Elizabeth Forbes told him about their daughter beeing one of those fanged creatures of the night, Bill took it upon himself to treat Caroline of her disease.

Celia learned about his sick methods inflicted on her sister and went to her rescue. After a week of searching she found Mr. Forbes layer. The undercover siphoner managed to brake Caroline free and keep her safe with a spell.

In the end, both Bill and Elizabeth came to term with their daughters supernatural selves, but for the latter is was too late. He died, unfortunately and the focus could not be moved from Elena on him because Katherine revealed that a big bad wanted her.

The experience Caroline had with torture and kidnapings lasted a little longer than she, or anyone else in her shoes, could wish for. After what happened with her father, she thought she had the worst of it (as any vampire would if burned little by little in the sun periodically). But she couldn't be more wrong. A pack of werewolves came in town, certain they can break free of their every full moon misery.

They believed in a curse named the sun and moon curse. It was said that if they sacriffice a vampire and let its blood stain a special rock, the moon stone, they will he able to resist the call of the wild that breaks their bones and change them into beasts every full moon. So they captured Caroline to serve their purpose. The pack, led by Tyler's Lockwood, the typical sporty bully, uncle kept the blonde vampire in a small cage, feeling within their rights to hurt and traumatize her.

Once again, Celia saved her sister. This time she acted helped by Stefan, Damon and Tyler, but still it was her who initiated the rescue and insisted on it to happen sooner than possible.

The second sweet, fragile, precocious Elena was taken though, everyone lost their minds trying to find the kidnapers: two vampires trying to wash their sins and escape a certain Elijah Mikaelson.

Lately, but not the last, the man whom sat at the end (or beggining) of all these awful events, made himself known. For everything that has happened ties, or could lead back, to him: Klaus Mikaelson.

A well thought plan finally came close to its bright end. All he needed was a way to catch the extremely guarded doppleganger. And a few side dishes for his ceremony. Easy to obtain. Unless someone of his level so chooses to interfere with his agenda. Which is exactly what happened.
