"The Earthquake of MetalGreymon"

Please enjoy and review!

Images of destroyed cities flitteed through Daisuke's mind as she dreamed; her eyes moving behind her eyelids as she tried to escape the horrors and wake up.

The sky was dark and filled with smog as the girl was wandering around in what used to be known as Odaiba and she was horrorfied on what she found in the streets.

Bodies of her friends and their digimon were then seen as they laid motionless and covered in wounds as blood caked the ground beneath them.

Finding Veemon lying down on the ground beside a dead Ken and Wormmon, Daisuke choked on a sob as she rushed over to her three friends.

Falling to her knees, the girl let the tears fall down her face as she cried hysterically as she picked up Veemon and held his corps as she hugged it close to her chest.

A clawed hand then reached out from behind her and grasped her shoulder making the girl gasp as she whirled around and came face to face with Apocalymon.

His golden eyes were the last thing she saw before she then jolted awake with a gasp, her chest moving up and down rapidly as she tried to calm herself.

It was only a nightmare.

Trying to sit up, the girl was stunned to find herself lying on a metal slab that had her wrists and ankles chained down.

"What the heck? What is this?" she grunted as she tried to struggled free.

Lifting her head up, Daisuke glanced around the room and found she was in what she assumed to be a lab that had a large computer panel built into the wall.

Chained up to the wall across from her was Veemon who was still sleeping, but appeared unharmed as far as she could tell.

"Veemon! Veemon, wake up!" Daisuke called over to her partner.

"Calm down, my dear. Veemon is fine." a familiar voice spoke.

Turning her head over to the side, Daisuke's chocolate colored eyes landed on Datamon who was standing on top of a computer pannel with an evil glint in his red eye and yellow optic.

"You stupid hunk of scrap metal! Let us go or else when I do get free, I'm gonna tear ya to pieces!" Daisuke growled.

"Hm, a bit violent aren't we? I wonder if that's why you're able to control a legendary dragon." Datamon mused.

Growling in anger, the girl then narrowed her eyes at the metal binds and knew she wouldn't be able to break free since the metal was thick and there was little room for her to move her wrists.

If Veemon woke up then he would be able to digivolve and he could use his strength to break out of their binds to escape the lab.

"What do you want with us?" Daisuke demanded as she turned her attention back over to Datamon.

"It's quite simple, my dear. My revenge!" Datamon said as his red eye flashed dangerously.

"Seriously, what is with you guys and revenge? Do you really think it's going to help you at all?" Daisuke rolled her eyes in annoyance.

MaloMyotismon had tried to get his revenge against the Digidestineds once before when he tried to take over the world once again, but he had failed.

Diaboromon had even tried his hand at revenge as well, but he was met with failure even with the amazing feat he displayed.

"Hmph! Think what you want, but I have my ways of turning things in my favour. I may not be able to defeat that beast by myself, but perhaps with the help of your little digimon, I will." Datamon smirked.

"You're insane if you think I would ever let you use Veemon for your own sick plans." Daisuke glared at him.

"You really don't have a choice in the matter." Datamon stated with finalty making the girl narrow her eyes in anger.

Turning back to the computer behind him, Datamon started typing away on the keyes.

"What are you doing?" Daisuke demanded.

"Just remain calm." Datamon said.

Suddenly, an arc of orange light roved above Daisuke making her gasp in surprise and confusion as she looked around and found that the light was coming from the table that had a machine on either side.

The machine reminded the imprisoned girl of a scanner.

"What is this? Get me off this stupid thing!" Daisuke growled as she tried to wriggle free once again.

"We just started." Datamon told her as he kept his eyes on the keyboard.

Across the room, there was another table like the one Daisuke was chained to and the girl was able to see the same arc of orange light.

Just then, golden data then appeared on the table and it formed into Daisuke's legs which made her eyes grow wide in shock.

"What the heck? What's happening over there?" Daisuke asked.

"Relax, I'm just making a copy of you." Datamon said as he turned to face her.

"You're doing what?!" The girl shrieked in outrage.

"You see, I believe Veemon's power has nothing to do with you, my dear, but rather whoever happens to be in possesion of the digivice that you so proudly wear." Datamon explained.

A robotic arm then lifted out of the pannel beside him and it was holding a red Crest that had a strange looking heart engraved on it.

It was Sora's Crest of Love!

"Fat chance! You can't control Veemon! You never will!" Daisuke glared.

"Perhaps not, but we'll see if an exact replica of you can do it." Datamon said as he then turned back to the pannel to continue his experiment.

Slowly, the arc of light started to move above Daisuke's body and the machine across the room moved aswell, more data forming to create the copy's knees and thighs.

"It's not going to work. Just because you copy my body, doesn't mean you can copy the bond I have with Veemon." Daisuke stated.

She had learned that the process of digivolving wasn't just caused by the digivice and her energy, but it was also because of the bond that grows between the digimon and human.

"Hmm, how sweet." Datamon shrugged off.

Glaring at the robot in hatred, Daisuke turned her attention over to the Crest that was being held by the robotic arm and wondered if Sora was the one who was meant to be captured in the beginning.

She needed to escape with Veemon and get the Crest of Love away from Datamon, but how could she do it.

"When I fought the beast before, Etemon destroyed all of my memory circuits from the fight. From that moment on, I vowed for revenge and I will have it with the help of your digi-partner. But enough of this small talk already, my dear. The moment of truth has now arrived!" Datamon cried.

Hearing a tired groan, Daisuke turned her attention over to where Veemon was chained up and saw that he was slowly waking up.

"Veemon, are you okay?" she asked.

The sound of his human's voice woke the dragon up and he turned his head down to where the girl was located.

"Daisuke! Where are we?" He asked her.

"We're inside the pyramid. The tin man over there is trying to clone me so he can make you digivolve." Daisuke explained.

"Clone you?" Veemon questioned.

Looking over, he found the clone that was across the room and the clone's body was fully formed.

It looked exactly like Daisuke, only its eyes were a blank, endless void and its face showed not a single ounce of emotions.

The clone looked like a lifeless doll and it scared Veemon to see this dead look on a copy of his human's face.

"That is just not right." Veemon whimpered.

"She's almost complete. Soon, I'll be able to set my plan into action." Datamon smirked.

Veemon glared at the robot, wishing he could free himself and beat the demented mon up for daring to create an evil copy of his human.

Just then, the room began to quake making the girl and her dragon gasp at the sudden jolt as dust and stones fell down fron the ceiling.

It couldn't possibly be an earthquake since they were in the desert, but did that mean that a fight was going on or was Etemon throwing a hissy fit?

"Your friends are very perspective my dear. It seems they've already discovered that I'm holding you prisoner in the pyramid." Datamon commented.

He was unbothered by the constant quaking and sounds of various explosions as he focused on finishing the clone.

"What is going on out there?" Daisuke asked.

"It seems there's a battle raging outside. Several of your friends have even managed to enter the pyramid." Datamon explained.

Hearing this, Daisuke leaned her head back as she thought over what the robot had told her.

"My friends..." She whispered.

They were on their way here to rescue her from danger, even though they were putting their own lives at risk.

True she had risked herself for her friends, but she didn't think anyone other than Veemon or Ken would ever endager themselves just for her.

"Guys, be safe." She said as she closed her eyes in worry.

"It's finished!" Datamon crowed.

Veemon and Daisuke gasped as they turned their attention over to where the clone was lying on the table.

The orange arc stopped glowing and faded away as the clone then sat up, then stood as she made her way over to Datamon who was smirking deviously.

"Now all we need is to test it. I'll need that digivice of yours and your Crest. If you wouldn't mind." Datamon said smugly.

"You come near me and I'll kick your can all the way to File Island!" Daisuke yelled at him.

"Yeah, we're not gonna let you use us!" Veemon growled.

"Your ability to show courage even in hopeless situations is admirable, but also a great annoyance." Datamon said as he walked over to the clone.

Growling in anger, Daisuke was about to retort, but was cut off when Tai suddenly ran into the room, passing through the firewall.

"Daisuke!" Tai cried.

He stopped when his eyes landed on the clone, taking in the simularities and the differences of the two girls just from looking at the clone's face.

"Are you alright? Daisuke, speak to me!" Tai called to the mute copy.

"Daisuke!" The child of Courage called as he started to run over to the girl.

"That's not Daisuke! It's a fake!" Veemon called making the boy stop and look over in confusion.

"I'm over here, Tai." Daisuke told him.

Shock filled his coffee colored eyes as he saw the state the duo of Miracles were in, trying to detect any injuries on them.

"And now the copy is finished, I will give her the Crest and she will become the new Daisuke and do whatever I require of her." Datamon said.

"I dare you to try and take my Crest. I double dare you, freak! It's not going to work. Get over yourself!" Daisuke yelled as she tried to kick her legs around.

Curious, Tai looked over to the pannel and was stunned to see what he assumed to be Sora's Crest being held by a robotic arm.

"You can't resist. Your Crest and digivice will be given to the copy and she'll use them to control Veemon and fight Etemon for me." Datamon said.

"You're not gonna get the chance, you pile of junk!" Tai yelled as he ran over and grabbed the Crest from the robotic arm.

"No! What do you think you're doing?" Datamon demanded.

Tai ignored the digimon as he then ran over to where his friend was lying, struggling to get free herself.

"I cannot permit a meer boy to ruin my plan for vengence!" Datamon's optic glowed red in his anger.

"I'm coming, Daisuke!" Tai called.

A pit then opened underneath the girl, the table she was chained to fading away as she then fell into the hole, crying out in surprise.

"Daisuke!" Veemon cried in fear.

Jumping forward, Tai managed to grab onto Daisuke's hand, holding onto her and preventing her from falling into the pit.

Inside of the hole below the girl were various black cables below that crackled with energy.

"I got you!" Tai grunted as he struggled to keep his balance so he didn't fall into the pit.

Datamon then made his way over to the pit, staring down into it.

"That's the center of Etemon's power network. Anything that gets sucked in there is lost for all eternity. And since I have no more use for the original, I'll simply get rid of it." Datamon said.

He stretched out his arms and grabbed onto Tai's hand, trying to pry it off of Daisuke's wrist, but the boy held on tight as he refused to release the girl.

Fear for her friend consumed her as Daisuke knew that Datamon wouldn't care if both human dropped into the pit and were consumed by the network.

"Let go of him!" Daisuke yelled as she reached up and grabbed onto Datamon's arm to try and get him off of Tai.

"You troublesome brat! Let go of me!" Datamon growled at the girl.

"Daisuke, don't worry. I'm not letting go of you." Tai groaned as he tightened his grip on the girl.

"That's not what I'm afraid of." Daisuke commented.

"Daisuke, hang on!" Veemon called.

"Veemon, help!" Daisuke yelled as she scrunched her eyes shut.

The digivice strapped onto her waistband then started to glow making Datamon squint his eye from the bright light.

"What is this?" He demanded.

"Veemon digivolve too...EXVEEMON!"

Growing into his larger form, ExVeemon was able to break out of the binds and flew over to the two humans.

"Take off you pesky lizard!" Datamon yelled at him.

Swooping down, ExVeemon grabbed Tai around the waist and the dragon then bent down and used his other hand to pick up Daisuke around her waist.

"What do you think you're doing?!" Datamon cried as ExVeemon flew upwards with the two humans safely in his arms as they smiled.

"Hang on, we're busting out of here!" ExVeemon said.

With both humans sitting on his shoulders, the dragon fired off his V Laser and destroyed the wall and the debris fell down on top of Etemon who was being electrocuted by the firewall.

Standing there in front of the two tanned humand and the dragon were Greymon, Kabuterimon and Izzy who all smiled at the sight of them.

"We're out." Greymon said.

"We made it!" Izzy smiled at the sight of the two humans.

"Am I ever glad to see you guys again." Daisuke gave the group a small smile.

They quickly made their way out of the pyramid and stopped outside when they saw the rest of the Digidestineds rushing over towards them.

"Hey, here come the others." Tai noted as he held up a hand in greeting.

"Hi guys!" Daisuke grinned as she waved at the group.

Everyone cheered as they ran over towards the group, relieved that they managed to get Daisuke and ExVeemon out of the lab.

A red glow was seen from Tai's hands and he opened them curiously to see the Crest was glowing as it lifted into the air.

"Whoa, what's going on?" Tai asked.

"I think I know." Daisuke smiled.

The same thing had happened when she had found the Crest of Kindness.

Floating over towards Sora; the Crest slid into place inside her Tag and the girl stared at it in awe.

"Hey, it's my Crest!" Sora exclaimed in amazement.

"That's great!" Biyomon said.

TK giggled happily as he tackled Daisuke, hugging her around her waist making the girl laugh as she returned the hug.

"I missed you, Daisuke. I was really worried." TK said as he nuzzled his head into the girl's stomach.

"I'm okay, TK, don't worry about it." Daisuke smiled as she patted his head.

"Matt was worried too." TK pulled away as he smiled over at his brother who stopped running and stood behind his brother.

"Oh really?" Daisuke smirked as the older blond blushed.

"Well, uh, yeah. We all were." Matt said as he tried to ignore his flushed cheeks.

Yelling was heard making everyone turn in shock to see the Monochromon and Tyranomon being sucked inside of the pyramid.

Some of the digimon were running away from the vortex that seemed to be sucking the other dinosaurs inside.

The Gazimon were also screaming as they ran away from the vortex which could only have been created by Etemon's power network.

Tai, Matt and Gabumon quickly got onto Greymon while Izzy, Joe, Gomamon, Mimi and Palmon climbed onto Kabuterimon and Daisuke, TK, Sora, Tokomon and Biyomon mounted ExVeemon to escape from the vortex along with the other digimon.

"What happened back there?" Joe asked.

"I suspect the computer blew." Izzy suggested.

Once they were far enough away, the group dismounted and then stared off at the pyramid as black and green lights shot out of its sides.

"Look at the pyramid." Sora gasped.

"It's disintegrating." Tai said.

The pyramid crumbled to the ground while an orb made out of black cables floated from out of the debris; Etemon's lower half being buried inside the wires.

It looked as though he had fused together with his own power network.

"Alright now, let me see a show of hands. How many of you actually missed me, huh?" Etemon laughed.

Everyone stared in horror when they saw how much more powerful Etemon had gotten after he became one with the network.

"What's with this guy?" Tai asked as everyone gasped.

"He just can't take a hint." Daisuke commented with narrowed eyes.

"I told you I'd come back and take my revenge on you. You didn't believe me, did ya?" Etemon asked.

The digimon then attacked; ExVeemon using his V Laser and Kabuterimon used his Electro Shocker, but the two attacks were absorbed by the cables.

"Hey, that was pretty good. I give it a 9.6. Now then, you ready for a fastball?" Etemon then trhew a green energyball at the two digimon, but they dodged and the ball hit the mountains behind them.

It created a vortex and it started to warp the area as the dessert was sucked inside of it.

"That one's heading straigth towards the sphinx!" Joe gasped as an energyball hit the sphinx.

"The sphinx melted!" Mimi cried.

"Melted doesn't even describe it." Izzy frowned.

"We've tried everything. Nothing can stop him. I guess this is the end." Sora said.

"I was hoping to skip algebra class, but not like this." Joe commented.

"You can't be serious. There has to be something we can do." Daisuke insisted.

"Like what? There's no way we can fight that thing." Matt said.

"It's over." Mimi sobbed as she buried her face in her hands.

"No! I'm not ready to surrender to Etemon just yet." Tai declared as he held his Crest.

"Coming, Greymon?" he asked as he then ran off.

"I'm right behind ya." Greymon said as he followed his human.

Looking over at ExVeemon, Daisuke and her dragon both nodded in agreement.

"They might need some back-up." Daisuke told him.

"I'm with you all the way." ExVeemon told her.

They then stepped forward, intending to be close by so that they could join in if the duo of Courage needed any help in their battle.

"What have we got here, sports fans? A new batter stepping to the plate." Etemon sneered.

"I'm not afraid of you, you big blow hard. Come down here and fight me like a mon!" Tai called as he lifted his Tag and Crest into the air.

"Tai, what are you doing? You don't stand a chance." Mimi cried.

"Hey, you are brave. I like that." The monkey said as he tossed another orb at the duo of Courage.

The orb hit Greymon, knocking him down.

"Don't worry Greymon, I'm staying with you." Tai said.

"Tai, you need to make your Crest glow!" Daisuke called as she and ExVeemon ran over to them.

Lifting his head in her direction, Tai was stunned to see she had run after him, but also felt a bit encouraged to see she had come after him.

Unknown to him, the boy's Crest started to glow orange which caught everyone's attention making them stare in awe at the sight.

"Tai, your Courage is giving me even greater strength. I can digivolve!" Greymon cried.

"Greymon digivolve too…METALGREYMON!"

MetalGreymon had a metal helmet with red hair showing out of it, metal chest plate, blade like wings, a metal arm and his red eyes were now blue.

"Now that is cool!" Daisuke grinned.

"This is gonna be a party." ExVeemon said.

"Lookie here. A fully evolved digimon. Well, I can handle him too, just watch me kids." Etemon taunted.

"MetalGreymon?" Joe asked.

"It was the power from the Crest." Matt said.

"MetalGreymon uses his own body as a weapon during battle. His most lethal instrument is the Giga Destroyer." Tentomon reported.

"Etemon is everybody's enemy. Use the power of the Crest!" Tai yelled.

"I'll be right with ya. Is there no end to your stupidity? I can put an end to it for ya." Etemon said as he tossed another orb, but MetalGreymon used his metal claws to tear through it.

"But it was just a joke!" the monkey said as the Ultimate charged over to him.

"Finish him now while we have the power!" Tai called.

"No, back off, baby!" Etemon yelled as MetalGreymon charged into the black cable ball, sending the monkey off a few feet.

"Ow! What's the matter with you? Don't cha know the rules? There's no head butting allowed." Etemon whined.

MetalGreymon was covered in a gold light as the Digidestineds and their partners dived to the ground as the wind picked up.

"He's glowing. I wish my hair could do that." Mimi stared in awe.

"It's the Crest's power." TK said.

"Oh no! Don't destroy me! I've got too much talent!" Etemon yelled.

MetalGreymon's chest plate opened up and two rockets blasted out and hit the cables causing a great big explosion, destroying Etemon.

A tear had opened up in the sky and a great gale blew around, pulling the duos of Courage and Miracles towards it.

"MetalGreymon, hang onto to me!" Tai called up to his partner.

"Don't worry, Daisuke, I've got you!" ExVeemon cried as he held onto his human.

"I think that vortex thingie has us!" She called back.

Unable to fight against the power of the vortex, the two tanned humand and the digimon were pulled inside before the tear closed behind them.

It was then silent as everyone stared forward in horror at what had happened right before their eyes.

"Tai!" Matt, Joe and Izzy yelled.

"Daisuke!" Sora and Mimi called.

"What happened to them?" TK asked.

"Come back!" Sora yelled.

To be continued...
