"The Truth Comes Out"
Here is a chapter I'm sure some people have been eager to read. Please enjoy and review!
Bright light faded away from Daisuke and Demiveemon's eyes as they then found themselves standing in the middle of a very familiar looking park that had very few humans wandering around.
"What is going on here?" The girl breathed out in surprise.
"Um, I don't know. I'm still a little fuzzy from being sucked into the portal." Demiveemon said as he pouted curiously.
"Yeah, you'd think we'd be used to that by now." Daisuke commented.
Bending down, she scooped up Demiveemon and then glanced around the park in confusion and wondered how they could have gotten here.
"I think we're back in Odaiba. But the question is, when are we?" She asked.
"When? You mean you don't know if we're still in the past or back in our time?" Demiveemon questioned her.
"It's hard to tell." Daisuke answered as she glanced around trying to find a clue to give her some answers.
Wandering around the park, the girl took in the sight of the area that she had requently come to as a child and had been at before Azulongmon took her into the past.
She was trying to see if she could find anyone familiar to her so that she could determine which time they were in.
Demiveemon's tiny head was also moving around as he kept his eyes open and noticed the sever lack of digimon wandering around.
Then, a familiar sweet scent was carried on the winds and his eyes grew wide as he searched around for it.
"What is it, Demiveemon?" Daisuke asked when she felt the dragon turning in her arms, sniffing at the air.
"Daisuke, I can smell two of you!" He revealed.
"Two of me? What are you going on about now?" The girl asked in confusion.
Thinking this over; Daisuke's eyes then grew wide in shock when she realized what that meant.
"Two of me. We're still in the past. Mini me must be in the park right now!" She exclaimed.
"Really? I'm gonna get to see you as a little kid?" Demiveemon asked in excitement.
For a while now, ever since they had been thrust back into the past and saw the younger versions of the first generation of Digidestineds, Demiveemon had wanted to see what his partner looked like as a child.
Everyone else seemed to be so different and he wanted to see if the younger versious of his human was different from her older self.
"Yeah, I guess so." Daisuke whispered.
Sighing, the girl started walking again as she made her way down to a very familiar area of the park that had been destroyed when she was a child.
There had been a cherry blossom tree that she had used to sit under with a sketch book, drawing pictures when she was lonely which was quite often.
Her parents were always busy with their jobs, her sister was at the age where she was only interested with her friends and the Kamiya siblings were either playing soccer or sick in bed.
Making her way to the tree; there she was!
Sitting under the tree filled with pink flowers was a girl of 8 years old with tanned skin, large chocolate brown eyes and mahogany hair that was tied up in the back with a white ribbon that was in a bow.
The girl was dressed in a pair of jean shorts with a bubble gum pink tank top and blue sneakers; on her lap was a sketch book and she was drawing in it.
"There I am." Daisuke smiled softly at the sight of her younger self.
"That's you?" Demiveemon asked in amazement.
Demiveemon stared in awe at the sight of the little girl and couldn't get over how sweet and innocent she looked sitting under the tree with a small smile on her face as she drew in her sketch book.
"You're so cute!" Demiveemon exclaimed with a large grin.
Tanned cheeks then became tinted pink when Daisuke heard what Demiveemon had said.
"Yeah, I guess I was pretty adorable when I was a kid." Daisuke relented as she watched her younger self.
"Why are you under that tree all by yourself?" Demiveemon asked.
"Well, whenever everyone was too busy, I'd come out here and sit under that tree and just draw. I used to do it all the time before I started middle school. After Yolei, Cody and I became Digidestineds, I didn't have enough time for that." Daisuke explained.
"Oh. Let's go talk to her!" Demiveemon said excitely as he tried to jump out of his human's arms which caused her to panic.
"No! You can't talk to her!" Daisuke gasped as she quickly tightened her hold on the dragon as she squished him to her chest.
"Aw, but why not? I wanna talk to the mini you!" Demiveemon whined.
He wanted to see how the little girl would reacte to seeing him.
He was certain that she would find him adorable and pick him up to hug him like he was her favourite teddy bear.
"It's bad enough that we're hanging out around the past versions of Tai and the others, but there's no way we can talk to mini me. Haven't you ever watched Back To The Future? We could cause a time paradox!" Daisuke snapped.
"Haven't we already been doing that?" Demiveemon deadpanned.
"What?" A familiar voice asked.
Freezing, the time traveling duo turned around and were nervous to find a stunned Tai and confused Koromon standing about ten feet away from them.
Tai's coffee colored eyes had grown wide as he stared at Daisuke, taking in her appearance as he then glanced over to the little girl sitting under the tree, blissfully unaware of what was happening.
When he had found himself back in Odaiba, Tai had started looking for proof to prove that he was back home and cut across the park on his way home.
While he was walking, Koromon had stopped him when he pointed out Daisuke and Demiveemon standing by a tree, so the child of Courage made his way over to them.
As he got closer, he could hear them talking about Daisuke's younger self and when he glanced over to the cherry blossom tree, he was shocked to see Daisuke Motomiya.
"Tai!" Daisuke gasped.
"Koromon, you guys are here too?" Demiveemon asked.
"Yeah, we didn't think anyone else got sucked into that vortex." Koromon smiled.
"Daisuke..." Tai spoke making the nervous girl look over at him.
"Um, hi Tai. How much did you hear?" She asked nervously.
"I heard enough. Daisuke? Ar-Are you..." Tai trailed off.
Realizing that she was caught, Daisuke sighed as she knew she had no choice but to tell Tai about herself.
"Yeah. I'm Daisuke Motomiya." She confirmed.
This revelation made things much more clear to Tai, but he was still confused over how any of this was possible.
Rushing forward, Tai grabbed Daisuke by her shoulders making her jump in surprise by the sudden act.
"But how? How can you be her when the Daisuke I've known for years is over there?" Tai asked.
Thankfully, the little girl was more interested in her drawing to even notice what was going on around her.
"Keep it down, goggle brain! We don't want her to hear us!" Daisuke whispered harshly as she held a finger to her lips to silent him.
"Answer the question!" Tai demanded.
Sighing in defeat, Daisuke nodded as she pushed Tai a few steps away from her to give herself some breathing space.
"In four years from now I find a gate to the Digital World and become a new Digidestined along with some other kids." She began.
"What? There are more of you?" Koromon asked in amazement.
"Yep and they all have rare digimon like me." Demiveemon said.
"After we beat the enemies of our time, there's peace between the two worlds. Humans and digimon are living together now." Daisuke continued.
"They are?" Tai asked in amazement.
"Yeah, but then... Azulongmon, the ruler of the Digital World, came to us and told us that an old enemy of yours would come back to destroy everyone and everything in sight." Daisuke said with a grave look.
Horror filled Tai's eyes as he heard this.
They were all going to be destroyed in the future?
"Who could do that? Was it Devimon?" Tai demanded.
"No, someone more powerful than him. You guys haven't met him yet." Daisuke shook her head.
"This guy is pretty dangerous. You guys didn't destroy him, you only managed to seal him away with your Crests. He found a way to break free and was going to kill us all." Demiveemon said.
"That's awful!" Koromon commented.
Tai bit his lip as these words flitted through his mind.
Worry, horror and anger filled him to the core when he thought of this dangerous beast that would be the death of them all.
He certainly didn't want to die at the age of fifteen and what about the other Digidestineds and people in the world?
They were all going to be destroyed by some evil beast because they weren't able to defeat him.
"But then, if that's true, how are you guys here? How did you come back in time?" Tai asked.
"Azulongmon sent us back to make sure we destroy him." Daisuke said.
A determined light shined in her eyes as she shook off her sadness and worry for her friends and family members.
"I'm not going to let anything happen to you guys. We've been through so much to just let it all end. So, I'm going to do whatever I can to defeat Apocalymon. The fate of the universe depends on it and I'm not going to give up until he's gone for good." She declared.
Staring at the girl in a sense of awe, Tai was amazed by how much the child he had once known had grown.
She wasn't the same cheerful, yet shy little kid he had known since she was four years old; she was now a Digidestined and a powerful young lady.
Giving a sad, yet proud smile; Tai shook his head as he then looked at Daisuke in a new light.
"You sure have grown, Dais." He commented using the old nickname he had bestowed upon the girl when she was a child.
"Being a leader does that to you." She smiled.
"Huh? You're the leader of the new Digidestineds?" Koromon asked.
"Tai apointed her as the new leader after she showed courage on her first day and made me digivolve." Demiveemon explained.
"That's pretty cool." Koromon grinned.
"Yeah." Tai nodded.
There were going to be more Digidestineds in the future and the two worlds were going to live together in harmony?
He couldn't wait until that day came!
"Tai, you know you can't tell the others." Daisuke told him as she grew serious and lost the smile on her face.
"Why not? Sora's been wondering about you and some of the others have a lot of questions about who you are and where you came from!" Tai exclaimed.
"I know, but I don't want everyone to worry about the stuff that'll happen in the future. Knowing too much about your own fate isn't exactly a good thing. It could change things in a bad way or good way. You never know. You guys need to focuss on what's going on now. I wouldn't even be telling you this if you hadn't overheard Demiveemon and I talking." Daisuke said.
"I guess I see your point. Fine, I'll keep your secret. But you have to promise that when this Apocalymon guy is defeated that you'll tell everyone the truth." The brunette said seriously.
Knowing he wouldn't drop the matter, the girl nodded in agreement since it was only fair and she also hated keeping secrets from everyone.
"Okay, I'll do it. Now that that's done, what do we do now?" Daisuke asked as she glanced around.
She felt a bit lighter now that she was able to tell someone the truth, but didn't know how everyone else would take the news when she told them.
"Well, before this I was on my way home. I guess we should both go there now." Tai said.
"Yeah, that might be a good idea. We'll figure out what's going on when we get there." Daisuke agreed.
They needed to find out how they had gotten pulled into the human world and how they were going to get back into the Digital World.
Hopefully the others were safe since Etemon had been defeated and Datamon was destroyed by the dark network.
"Daisuke!" Someone called.
Tensing, the girl then whirled around and saw a girl her age with wild magenta colored hair, fair skin and chocolate brown eyes dressed in a purple tank top, jean skirt and white tennis shoes jogging over to the mini Motomiya.
Head picking up, the little girl watched as her older sister stopped in front of her and panted slightly from the run.
"Jun, what are you doing here?" Mini Daisuke asked.
"What am I doing here? When I got back home, you were gone! I was worried sick! I thought something bad had happened to you." Jun glared as she scolded her sister.
The little girl seemed to shrink back as she looked down with a sad look on her cherubic face.
"I-I'm sorry. It's just... Everyone was busy and being in the apartment alone isn't fun. It's so lonely in there." Mini Daisuke explained as tears gathered in her doe eyes.
Jun melted at the sight of her upset sister and the girl sighed in defeat as she knelt down and placed a hand on her sister's head.
"I'm sorry. I know how lonely you get and I should probably spend more time with you. I haven't exactly been acting like the world's best big sister, huh? But, Dai, when I came home and found you gone I was so scared that something terrible had happened. I almost called the cops." Jun said.
"I'm sorry, too. I shouldn't have just left the apartment like that without leaving a note or something. It wasn't very smart." Daisuke said as she sniffled and gave her sister a small grin.
"Tell ya what? How about we go get some ice cream and we forget this ever happened?" Jun offered as she ruffled her sister's bangs.
"Okay!" Mini Daisuke giggled.
Closing her sketch book and consealing the drawing of a timber wolf, her favourite animal, the girl stood up and grabbed her sister's hand.
The two Motomiya girls then walked off, leaving the park happily while the duos of Courage and Miracles watched them off with fond looks.
"Wow, that was a really nice moment." Koromon said.
"It's was sweet." Demiveemon grinned.
Looking over at Daisuke, Tai saw that the girl was watching the scene from her past play out right in front of her with a look of longing.
This was one of those special moments that the Motomiya sisters had together when they weren't arguing and got along.
It was then that Tai realized that Daisuke must really be lonely in this time and missed her friends and family dearly.
She made a huge sacrifice to come back in time and fix the mess that he and the others had made.
"Come on, guys, let's get going." Tai said.
Snapping out of her musings, Daisuke nodded as she followed after Tai as they carried their digimon with them out of the park and headed off to the apartment the Kamiya and Motomiya families lived in.
To be continued...
