Jess took a deep breath and stood up tall, he was strong he was smart, he was formidable and he wasn't going to chicken out because he was scared of what Lorelai had to say to him. He mentally shook off the words of his mother that she told him all his life calling him exactly the opposite, even in the most recent letter she sent him. She somehow blamed him for all her problems and told him it was his fault she was running, that she'd do much better not having to deal with him, and that she felt sorry that she had to pawn him off on the nicest human in the world but that it was worth it to get a fresh start. He mentally shook off those thoughts, he knew what his mother thought of him, and even if he happened to agree with her the people of this town didn't so he was going to do what he could to prove them right.
With that last thought, he started walking up the steps of the Gilmore girl's porch and to the front door. With one more deep breath he knocked on the door, it didn't take more than a few moments before he heard feet bounding towards its. He couldn't stop the smile that came over his face, he'd know that walk anywhere, he thought she had some school stuff to deal with and didn't think he'd see her today.
The front door opened and there she was, looking beautiful as always. He threw a CD at her as soon as he was sure she was paying attention. She looked at it a little confused, "The Shags?"
"Trust me."
"Okay," She said as she took a few steps outside and closed the door behind her, she wanted to get a kiss from her boyfriend without her mother saying anything.
"Hello, Rory."
He kind of hated himself for how much of a sap he sounded like but it didn't matter when her smile widened, "Well hello there, Tom Paris."
"Tom Paris?"
"You know, Star Trek: Voyager."
"Yeah, I know the person you're talking about, I just don't know what he has to do with me." He smirked.
She stammered a little, "Well you know, he was sent to the brig but took his punishment without any fight."
"So I'm getting punished now?"
"What? No, it was a bad joke, I just had a feeling you were nervous about whatever my mom wanted to talk to you about… which you shouldn't be! My mom isn't scary or mean, she won't drag it out or make you cry."
Rory…"
"She just wants to talk, you know, since you're dating her daughter and all. I'm sure it will be quick, super quick, no, quicker than that, speedy even."
"Rory…"
"All I'm trying to say is you don't have to worry, she's not mad about the whole New York thing, maybe a little scared, she wants us to be safe. So yeah, that's probably what it'll be, a safety talk. So like I was saying, there's no need to wo—"
She was cut off by her lips being kissed by his. He wanted to kiss her hello anyway but it seemed like she was starting to spiral and if she wasn't going to listen to his words he thought it was as good a way as any to stop her babbling. She immediately sunk into the kiss and wrapped her arms around his neck. She got a shiver down her spine and butterflies flapping in her stomach at just the touch of his lips against hers and his fingers on her hips even if her clothes were seperating them. She let herself be pulled closer and returned it by wrapping her arms tighter around his neck. She eventually turned her head away from his, breaking the kiss because she needed a breath.
She felt a little wobbly, it wasn't as if it was a particularly passionate kiss, not compared to the one from yesterday anyway, but still, she needed a moment to get her head on straight. After she did she turned her head towards Jess and smiled shyly at him, she was happy to see him return the smile, reluctant as it may have been.
"I wish I could stay."
"It's fine, don't tell her I told you this but I'm a little worried about Lane anyway. I don't think she and Henry are working out."
"What? Why do you think that?"
"She told me he hasn't been returning her calls. Plus during the basket thing, he seemed pretty annoyed that they had to sneak around."
"Oh, that makes a lot more sense, she's been upset and mopey but I didn't know why," Rory said, feeling like a terrible friend. Had she been too lost in her own romantic life to the point she'd been neglecting her best friend?
Jess saw she was sad and though he wasn't sure why he had a good idea. He wasn't too fond of his girl being upset but he wasn't used to being in situations where he had to cheer someone up, so he did the only thing he could think of, he leaned in and kissed her again. They got lost in the kiss for a while before Rory again reluctantly pulled away.
"I have to go." She almost whispered into his mouth, barely an inch away.
"I know," He answered just as quietly.
Rory pulled back looking seriously at Jess, "Just, don't get too upset at my mom, I know you aren't too used to getting lectured but she doesn't mean anything by it. She cares about us and doesn't want us getting hurt."
He looked at Rory long and hard before dubiously replying, "If you say so."
"I do." With one more quick peck to his lips, she pulled out of his embrace and walked back to her front door. She opened it and yelled into the house, "Hey Mom, Jess is here, I'm going to Lane's."
"Okay hon, have fun!" Jess heard from somewhere in the distance.
He looked over at Rory and she gave him a big smile, "I won't be all day, I promise I'll be back before you're done for the day, okay?"
"Okay."
Rory waved at him and then she was on her way down her driveway and out of sight. He watched her go until he couldn't see her anymore before turning around to make his way inside.
"Jesus!" He yelled, frightened. Somehow Lorelai walked up to the door and was standing right behind him without him even knowing and she was just watching him for God knew how long.
"No, it's Lorelai, how do you not know that by now?" She quipped.
He wasn't fond of the fact that she saw him scared like that but there was nothing he could do. Normally he was more on his game and paid better attention. He'd been snuck up on enough in his life, whether it'd be from people on the street jumping him or his mom's boyfriends trying to take their anger out on him. He learned to always be paying attention, always be ready but somehow he missed her coming. He was wondering if he was starting to get too comfortable because he was around here too long.
He was too caught off guard to quip back like he'd normally do so instead he quirked his lips, gave her an awkward wave, and greeted, "Lorelai."
"See, there you go, that's better." She said with a laugh, she could tell by Jess' countenance that something about this interaction upset him, maybe even frightened him so she decided to take it easy on him for now, she could save the talk for a lunch break or something. "Hey Jess, come on in."
He nodded and stepped into the house, though he didn't go much further than the entryway, he wanted to get to work as soon as possible so he could go home, he had too much on his mind and Lorelai scaring him a few moments ago brought back too many bad memories, it made him feel on edge. "So the gutters?"
"Oh yeah," She held her still bandaged hand up, "Just make sure to not make the same mistake as I did."
"And what mistake would that be?"
"Oh, you know, a mistake that anyone would make." In a quieter, almost sheepish voice she continued, "I tried to do it while balancing one footed on the latter, paying more attention to the bird that was a few feet away. I'm sure he was tweeting the tune to 'Goodbye Yellow Brick Road'. What kind of Elton fan would I be if I didn't sing and dance along?"
"But why were you only on one foot?" He asked, trying not to laugh at picturing the scenario.
"Well, there might have been a stubbing of my big toe on the way up. Now I understand why they say flip flops are not proper shoe wear for ladder climbing."
Jess lost the battle he was having with himself and couldn't help but chuckle. "Ahh. Well, don't worry, we've all been there."
"That's what I told Rory but she just rolled her eyes at me." She said with a laugh and after a few moments of quiet she changed the subject, "So why don't I take you outside and show you where everything is then you can get started?"
Instead of verbally responding Jess simply nodded his head. So Lorelai took the lead, opened the front door, and led him over to the side of the house. When she made it to the bucket gloves and everything else she opened her mouth to explain then promptly shut it again, she had no idea what she was doing, if she did she wouldn't have needed the help in the first place. So she had no idea what directions to give. Jess saw her confusion and gave her an out.
"Okay, uh, thanks, I think this is everything I'll need."
"Cool, no problem. Just call me if you need anything, I'll be in the house." She said a little awkwardly.
Jess nodded his head absently as he put on the work gloves. He picked up what he needed and walked over to the ladder.
Lorelai stood there for another awkward moment before giving up and making her way into the house. She didn't like that things were uncomfortable between her and Jess. She wanted to be on good terms with Rory's boyfriend, she wanted to be able to hang out with him and have movie nights, like they used to do with Dean and how they'd done a few times before with Jess but something was just off now. She hoped it'd get better after they got through with the nasty business of talking, and not only because he was Rory's new boyfriend but because she liked the kid, also because she promised herself and Luke she'd do what she could to help the boy that clearly needed more support and people to trust. She sighed, there was nothing she could do right now, it wasn't as if she could just skip talking to him, he had to know she wasn't cool with what they did, and she had a few more things she wanted to let him know.
She stood in the middle of her living room for a while just thinking before she eventually sighed again and plopped on the couch. There was no use fretting, she might as well watch some TV while she waited for him to finish.
Jess liked the manual labor, it was easy, didn't take a lot of concentration, didn't take a lot of thought, and it gave him a workout. It also helped keep his mind occupied and not wandering into dark areas and thoughts, he didn't have to consciously not think about his mom or the upcoming talk, he could just focus on making sure these gutters were cleaner than a baby's ass.
Rory walked into Kim's Antiques and looked around, from somewhere deep in the shop she heard Mrs. Kim yell, "Everything that's made of wood is ten percent off for the rest of the week!"
"Hey Mrs. Kim, it's Rory. Can I go upstairs? Is Lane there?"
Mrs. Kim popped up next to her from seemingly nowhere while using a towel to dry her hands, she had to work hard not to flinch or yell in fright. "Yes, you may. She's been upset, maybe you can get her out of her funk."
Mrs. Kim's words reminded Rory of what Jess was saying and Rory became worried he was right. She nodded her head and started walking up the stairs. She knocked twice on her best friend's door and the only response she got was a depressed groan from the other side. 'Uh oh, this might be worse than I thought.'
She opened the door sticking her head in first before walking all the way in. She smiled brightly, hoping to pep Lane up, "Hey, Lane."
"Ughhhh." Lane groaned again from under her blanket and her pillow.
Rory rushed over to the bed, plopped on it, and leaned over so that her face was on top of Lane's even if her friend didn't know it yet. She quickly pulled the pillow away, "What's wrong?"
Lane jumped, surprised, not expecting to see Rory so close. As she sat up Rory pulled back to give her room, Lane sat cross-legged and let out a depressed sigh, "Henry broke up with me."
"What? Why?"
"It's terrible, I thought things were going great but then whenever I called his mom kept telling me he was busy. I knew something was wrong but no one told me anything. So you know what I did?" She asked but didn't give Rory time to respond before continuing, "I risked Mama Kim's rath by hopping on a bus and going all the way to Hartford and right up to his house. I knocked right on that door and waited for him to answer. If I was being dumped it was damn well going to happen to my face, not just him ignoring enough calls till I gave up, right?" She asked, sounding less sad and more angry now.
"Right!" Rory said, trying to be the supportive friend.
"Wrong, I kind of wish I just kept it with phone calls because I was right. There was something wrong and he wanted to break up with me."
"Why?"
"He just did it! Like it was no big deal like he wasn't tearing my heart out and shredding it into a thousand tiny pieces!" Lane said, officially sad again.
Rory lunged forward and wrapped her in a tight hug, Lane sunk into it gratefully. "Oh Lane, I'm so sorry!" After her sniffles calmed down Rory asked gently, "Did he give you a reason why?"
"He said he didn't want to hide, he said he understood why I felt like I had to do it but he didn't and he didn't want to anymore. He said he liked me but we never even got a real chance to get to know each other without phone calls being cut short by me hanging up when I thought that Mama was listening through the door. And the one time we actually did get to hang out somewhere safe and private I spent the whole time paranoid and looking out the windows every five minutes. Which, granted, that's true but that doesn't mean it's fair!"
"He's a jerk! The jerkiest of all the jerks, I officially hate him and will give him the death stare anytime I see him from now until forever!" Rory declared.
"Really?"
"Really." She promised.
"No, you don't have to do that, but I love you for offering. He was right, I wasn't being fair to him."
"Then what are you going to do?"
"I don't know, lots of healing, I guess. Then after that, I guess the next person I date should be someone in my school." She made a gross face, "But they all suck and I've known them all since kindergarten. Well, except for your boyfriend, he was new last year, and Jess."
That's when Rory realized she had been a terrible friend to Lane over the last few days, she didn't know Rory had broken up with Dean, let alone that she had a new boyfriend already. She felt a blush come over her cheeks at the memories of all the kisses over the last two days. She also wasn't fond of the look of interest Lane had when she mentioned Jess. She felt like she should tell her best friend about the happenings in her life but she also felt like she'd be a jerk if she told Lane about her amazing love life while she was in the middle of a breakup. She eventually decided to just spit it out, knowing Lane as well as she did, she knew her friend would be super mad if Rory didn't tell her and she found out from someone else around town.
"About that…"
"About what? You're boyfriend or Jess?" Lane asked.
"Well actually, as of two days ago, they're one and the same."
It took Lane a moment to understand what Rory was getting at but when she did her eyes opened wide and she smiled brightly, "What? Since when? What happened? You're finally ready to admit you like him? He's been pining over you for months now!"
Her blush grew at Lane's words but she ignored it in favor of answering the questions, "Yeah, we're dating, he asked me out about an hour after I broke up with Dean, it was Friday that it happened, so about two days, and yes, I was finally ready to admit it, although it seems as if everyone knew anyway." She huffed.
"Well duh! It's been as clear as day, you two making moon eyes at each other whenever you didn't think anyone was watching. And you should see from the outside how you two look when you're having a conversation or debate, especially when it has to do with books. It's clear as day that you two love each other, it's like it was meant to be!"
"Lane, we just started dating at the beginning of this weekend, it's a little too early to be throwing love around."
"Okay, okay, fine. Now, tell me everything."
So Rory did, starting back at the first time they sat on the bridge together all the way to this Friday with them skipping school, and ending with him kissing her goodbye. They talked, laughed, cried, and wallowed for the rest of the afternoon.
Jess wasn't sure how long he'd been working, he was in the zone just focusing on the job. That's why he was surprised by Lorelai again when she called his name from the ground though he felt like he did a much better job at hiding it this time.
"Sorry, am I too loud?"
"Oh no, it's just that I got a ton of leftover Chinese food and I thought you might like some lunch."
"No thanks," Jess said because he knew what would happen if he said yes.
"Okay," Lorelai said, turning to go back inside.
Jess sighed, he was acting like a chicken, it was just a stupid talk, it was no big deal. It wasn't as if he actually cared if Lorelai liked him or approved of him. He rolled his eyes because he knew he was lying to himself. Still, though, he wasn't one to hide when there was something that had to be handled so he stopped her as she was almost back to the back door. "Chinese sounds great."
"Really?"
"If you're sure you have enough."
Lorelai laughed, "Oh, there's plenty. Rory and I decided to take on the entire chicken column last night after we got home."
"Ambitious." Jess nodded, especially because when they left his apartment they were going down to the diner to eat.
"Well, it's all out on the table so come in when you're ready."
"I'm ready now."
"Okay." Lorelai made her way inside and waited for Jess to come in. She went to the cabinet to grab both of them plates and then the utensils. Jess came in and Lorelai was talking as soon as he neared the table.
"So uh basically everything here is chicken, we got garlic chicken, Kung pow chicken, Szechuan chicken, chicken in brown sauce which looks and tastes remarkably like the Szechuan chicken except that it's got these red peppers in it, and if you eat them, you die. Plate?" She asked offering it to him.
"I thought I'd…" He trailed off holding his hands up in the air.
"Oh, sure, you know where everything is.
He walked over to the sink and started to wash his hands, "So when was the last time you had those gutters cleaned?"
"It's been a while."
He chuckled, "Yeah, I found an 'I like Ike' bumper sticker up there."
She laughed, "Is it really bad?"
"It won't be by tomorrow." He said as he dried his hands.
"Oh, well I like hearing that." She said as she handed him the plate and fork.
"Oh right, I almost forgot about you two's aversion to vegetables."
"What are you talking about? There's green pepper in the Kung Pow." She said as she started making a plate for herself.
He held up one hand, that was holding his fork, in surrender, "My mistake."
"Oh yeah, I forgot, you're a healthy eater like Luke. You couldn't even attempt to keep up with us junk food wise last movie night."
He scoffed, "I am not a healthy eater like Luke, no one is a healthy eater like Luke. Euell Gibbons wasn't a healthy eater like Luke."
"Wow, it's been ages since I heard a good Euell Gibbons reference."
"Many parts of a pine tree are edible."
"That's right. God, I wonder what the research process was like to get that kind of information."
"I'd say fairly painful."
"Here," Lorelai said as she took his plate and put it in the microwave and Jess went to sit down. It was getting a little awkward again so Lorelai offered, "Cold eggroll?"
"Why not?" Jess took it from the container she was holding and then took a bite. He chewed once and wasn't able to keep the look off his face
"Bad?"
"Oh yeah." Lorelai laughed and handed him a napkin and Jess spit it out as nicely as possible.
"Uh-oh," She said while picking up the container of eggrolls.
"What?" He asked cautiously, he didn't like the way she was looking at the container.
"I'm pretty sure this was from the last time we had Chinese."
"Oh yeah? And when was that?"
She looked up into the sky, thinking. "Uh, what was it? Two weeks ago maybe more." She finished sheepishly.
"Yeah, that sounds about right." He said remembering the taste.
The microwave dinged so she switched the plates and gave him his. When they both had their food they ate in semi-comfortable silence for most of their plates before Lorelai sighed and put down her fork.
"Jess…"
Jess followed suit and put down his fork before giving her his attention, "Yeah?"
"I like you, you know that, right?"
He shrugged, "I guess."
"I do, and not just because my kid does, You're fun to hang out with and you fit in well with us during movie night, we've told you some horror stories already of movie night guests gone wrong, remember?" He nodded so she continued, "So you get that it's not often we have someone who meshes with our style and sense of humor."
"Yeah…" He responded, not sure where this was going.
"Good, then you get that I'd rather not have to lose that. Especially because you get Rory on another level, I've never met anyone who reads as much as she does and understands all her literary references."
"Yeah, you know, I'm uh, I like it too." He admitted though he didn't really want to, he felt compelled.
"Right, so I don't want to lose it but I have no problem doing so if you drag my kid into a bad situation again."
"Lorelai. I didn't…"
She held her hand up in a stop motion so he stopped talking, "I know, you two didn't think you were in danger, and it wasn't all your idea but you could have been in danger or one of you could have gotten hurt and that's enough for me to shut it down. I understand you know New York better than I do and because of that she would probably be safer there with you than she would be with me but that's not the point. I need to know where she is, if something were to happen to you two, accident or not, I have to know how to get to her. Do you understand that?"
He stayed quiet for a long while, his first instinct was to rebel, to yell, say something scathing, to storm out. He didn't like being told what to do and he definitely didn't like being lectured, especially by someone who wasn't even his mom or even family. For what felt like the hundredth time, he reminded himself that this was Rory's mother, that this was Lorelai and he liked Lorelai. He also reminded himself that flipping out on her wouldn't do him any good, plus, he had to admit she had a point, even though he had a shitty mother that couldn't care less where he was, Lorelai was not that type of mother. Rory was lucky that she had someone who cared so much about her, truthfully, it made him a little jealous, not that he'd ever say that out loud.
So after thinking all that through he took a deep breath, "Yeah I get it." He said, then after Lorelai kept staring at him, he added as an afterthought, "Uh, sorry, it won't happen again."
"You should know by now I'm not strict with Rory, and I might not even be against you two taking a trip like that again but I have to know beforehand and there'd have to be check-ins or I'd worry the whole time."
"Okay."
"And I will not stand for her skipping school or her grades falling because you guys think it will be more fun to hang out behind the gas station and make out."
"What?"
"No more skipping school with my kid, got it?"
"Got it."
"Good, now that that's settled, there is one more thing…"
"Great," He sighed out sarcastically. He already thought he deserved a treat from Rory for how well he was handling this whole situation but now there was more? He wasn't sure how much more he could take before his mouth got away from him.
Granted, Lorelai seemed just as awkward as he felt but that was only a small reprieve. "So, uh, I get the feeling you're more experienced than Rory, you know in that way."
"Jesus Christ…"
"No, I know," she said with her hands up placatingly, "This is none of my business, and I want to talk about this probably less than you do."
"I'm not sure about that."
"Fine, neither of us wants to have this conversation at all."
"Then let's not and say we did," Jess said as he started to stand up, he'd lost his appetite anyway.
"No, no, Jess we have to."
"Do we though? I'm not sure how what I've done with my body in the past is any of your business."
"It's not! Though if you keep dating my daughter, what happens with it in the future is."
"I disagree."
"Well then we'll agree to disagree but this conversation is happening either way."
Jess' eyes flick to the back door, he was sure he could make it out before Lorelai could stop him, he was fast if he needed to be. "Listen, you don't have to worry about anything like that, nothing happened and I'm sure you and Rory would have a nice long awkward invasive talk about it before anything did."
Lorelai was a little insulted by his words and his tone but she admitted to herself that their conversations might seem a little invasive to people on the outside, especially if you were the topic of one of those conversations. "I know nothing has happened yet because you're right, Rory would tell me."
"Good, then we can be done with… whatever this is."
"No, we haven't even talked about it yet."
"We haven't?" He asked incredulously.
"No, as I was sa— Jess, sit back down." After thinking over his options for a few moments he reluctantly complied. "Thank you, now, as I was saying, it's clear you're more experienced than her."
He scoffed, it wasn't like he was the one who had just gotten out of a year-long relationship, though he took her point. She ignored his interruption, "I need you to swear to me, right here, right now, that you won't push her. You won't pressure her to move faster than she's ready to go."
Jess became offended, he'd never do something like that. He had no intentions of moving faster than Rory wanted, he planned to let her take the lead. He thought Lorelai understood him, knew he was more than just what people saw when they looked at him but he guessed he was wrong. If she knew him at all she'd know she wouldn't have had to say that. So he quickly stood up and started walking to the door.
"Jess…"
"You've got nothing to worry about, I'm going to finish the gutters, it's getting late."
She opened her mouth to say something but she didn't have the chance because he already slammed the door shut. She wasn't sure how but she had a feeling she just messed up.
It was about an hour later that Rory came up the driveway and her already small smile grew in size when she saw Jess raking up what she assumed was the remanence of the gross stuff from the gutter. The smile fell off her face the closer she got when she noticed he was frowning and raking angrily, she was pretty sure if he used just a little more pressure he would break their rake, it made her worry about what happened while she was away.
"Hey, Jess." She felt a little better when she noticed that the tenseness in his shoulders and the frown on his face disappeared when he heard her.
A small smile was gracing his face when he looked up at her, "Rory."
"Can you take a break?"
"I'm actually finishing up now." He quickly grabbed up all the tools that he used while cleaning the horror scene that was meant to be gutters, at least they looked good now. He scooped the last bit of old waterlogged leaves into a trash bag before tying it up and walking to the road, Rory walked alongside him.
"How was your day?" She ventured after a few moments of silence.
He shrugged, "It was work. Not how I'd choose to spend my Sunday if there wasn't money involved. Especially since I made this ridiculous promise to a cute girl that I'd no longer skip school. I can't even use tomorrow to relax."
"Cute, huh? Should I be worried?"
He put a finger on his chin, pretending to ponder the question. "I don't know, she is really cute, and a great kisser." He added almost as an afterthought.
She blushed at his words, no one had ever called her that before, and she decided she liked it. "Oh yeah? Well, you're not too bad yourself." She said boldly, she forced herself to ignore the darkening of her blush.
Jess didn't though, he thought it was cute and smirked when he noticed it. They stopped at the trash can and he threw the bag in before closing the lid, turning, and giving all his attention to her. He leaned in slowly for a kiss, giving her time to turn away but his smirk widened when she leaned in too to get to his lips faster. Jess placed his hands on her hips while she wrapped hers around his neck. They stayed that way for a while before eventually Jess pulled back and rested his forehead against hers.
"I guess I should get going home soon."
"What? No! I just got here, did my mom even pay you yet? Come inside, we'll have dinner."
"Nah, Luke is expecting me," He lied, he just really didn't want to go back in there and talk to Lorelai. "I'll get the money from your mom tomorrow or something."
"Oh, okay," Rory said, trying to hide her disappointment.
"What are you doing after you get home tomorrow?"
"Uh, studying, probably, why?"
"Do it at the diner, we can keep each other company." He was supposed to cover for someone at Walmart tomorrow but he got a call saying they didn't need him so his Monday was wide open and he hoped to spend it with Rory.
"Oh, well, I don't know."
"Come on, Ror. I promise, I won't distract you, you'll get all your studying done you just won't be alone while you do it." He cajoled.
"Um, okay but there will be actually studying, mister. It's not just some code for hanging out."
"Scout's honor," Jess said making the sign with his fingers.
She laughed, "Yeah right, like you were ever a scout."
He shrugged, "I'll have you know," He started in a voice that portrayed he was about to prove her wrong, "You're completely right."
She laughed before looking back at her front door, she really was getting hungry so she was going to have to get inside soon. Jess took her hint, "So, I'll see you tomorrow?"
"Yeah, we're going to come by for breakfast too, we haven't gone shopping so we're out of Pop Tarts. Maybe you can walk me to the bus again?" She asked a little shyly.
"Sure." His smirk was softer this time, almost a smile.
"But no getting on the bus with me this time, strictly keeping my company while I wait."
"Scout's honor," he repeated with the sign again.
Rory rolled her eyes and scoffed, "Good. Alright, goodnight Dodger," She said taking a step closer to him.
"Night Rory," Jess said closing the distance between them again for a goodnight kiss. She was the one to pull away this time and with a quick wave, she walked to the door.
As she was walking to the door she remembered how angry he was when she walked up, add that to him rushing to get out of here she had a feeling something happened while she was at Lane's and she was sure she was going to get to the bottom of it. She had some questions she had for her mom.
