Chapter 2
Night had already fallen and I was resting on the furniture. My daughter slept peacefully on my chest, her soft, rhythmic breathing filling me with peace. Although the sounds outside disturbed that peace.
One, two, three, four, five, six...
In my mind I counted the zombies I could hear walking near the house.
Thirty...
It kept adding to every second.
I sighed. "I think I'll go relax my muscles."
Before I got up, I gently removed my daughter and arranged her on the furniture so that she would continue to sleep while I left the house.
Leaving I jumped hard to go over the bars and start walking to the other end of the street where I saw a group of zombies, in total there were 20 zombies that were there without moving.
As I approached, I found a 50 cm steel bar near an abandoned car.
It will serve me.
He hadn't come out with the wooden bat.
The zombies began to approach me. It seems that I was in his field of vision.
But no matter that, with the steel bar it was enough to fight them.
Two zombies approached on my right.
Crack!
With the steel bar I destroyed their heads easily.
Two less, there are 18 left.
Huh, it seems that the sound got the situation out of control.
The zombies began to move fast for what he had seen previously.
Are they evolving little by little?
If the situation is like this, then zombies will be a great danger in the future if they evolve on their own.
Crack!
Crack!
I stopped worrying about it and started with what I came this for.
Kill zombies.
Crack!
With the steel bar I attacked the zombies that came behind me.
More arrived.
Thirty more zombies joined the party.
Jumping on top of a zombie and using it as a support, where my left hand would grab the zombie's head and then use my right hand that had the steel bar where I ended up using the steel bar as a sword.
Swing!
In this way, several heads were surpassed from their bodies.
Now the zombie where I was leaning, I destroyed its head with a strong kick in order to propel myself and reach the wall of a house that was behind me.
There are 15 left.
That's what I thought.
More zombies were approaching this location, the sounds sure caught his attention.
7… 14… 9…
In different streets the zombies arrived with unequal numbers.
There are now 45 zombies.
But look at the farther away more zombies were approaching.
I have turned this place into a dangerous area for anyone.
Look at the steel bar and meditate on the situation.
Crash!
With what little superhuman strength I have, I destroyed the steel bar in half.
I have to clean this place.
Crossing my arms where I had a small steel bar, I ended up turning them into another type of weapon.
Now they are blades to quickly eliminate this multitude of zombies.
I stiffened the muscles in my legs, preparing myself to run at a better speed and quickly finish what I caused.
The zombies didn't stand a chance.
One, two, three, four...
The zombies' heads cut in half were witnessed on the ground with their gruesome blood staining the ground.
Twenty-two, twenty-three, twenty-four...
It easily eliminated ten zombies per second. By the time I realized it, I was out of danger. I glanced sideways at the ground, where seventy zombies lay on the ground with their heads cut in half.
dum-dum
Because...
I brought my right hand to my chest, where I felt the beating of my heart.
Old memories of me flooded into my mind. It was a memory of yesteryear where I enjoyed murdering people regardless of who I murdered.
The blood splattering my face and dirtying my suit, was as it always was when the genocide began for mere enjoyment and fun cheering up my empty life.
Right now I'm doing the same thing.
Although zombies ceased to be human and became a walking plague causing terror to other people.
Jumping around several times, I decided to stay on the roof of the nearest house to see farther away from my location.
The lights shining on the bridge that we had decided to abandon due to the dead traffic of vehicles, the policemen were observed having a strong conversation with another group of civilians.
It seems that they are complaining about something.
It is the safest thing to do when you see that they are doing a march with signs that you can see in their hands.
"What stupidity are they complaining about in a situation like this..."
» ━━━━━━ « » ━━━━━━« «
"We are the people! This is the fault of our government and the American! This is the fault of the development of their new weapons! They are responsible for the spread of the killer disease! We are going to tear down this system!"
A man in a black jacket shouted with a star embroidery on his back, on his head he had an orange scarf covering his hair. She was shouting in front of the crowd implying that she is the ringleader of this march.
"They are going to pay for it! Say it!"
Near that man, there was an adult woman with short hair with a microphone held in her hand talking to the cameraman who was transmitting everything that happened on the Onbetsu bridge.
"We are back on the air. The police continue to jump on the bridge. A group of people have begun to protest against the actions of the police!"
"We still don't know which organization they belong to..."
"Killer disease..." Komuro watched in amazement at how people on television talked nonsense about the current state of the world.
"I guess it wasn't 'them'." Hirano had assumed that the problem on the bridge was due to zombies, but upon turning on the television, they discovered that the commotion on the Onbetsu bridge had been caused by something else.
"Is he saying that 'they' are the result of a collaboration between the American and Japanese governments, for the development of a new weapon...?!"
Komuro complained indignantly about how the person he saw on television thought.
"That's crazy! The dead rise up and start attacking the living, there is no scientific explanation for that!"
"They're just trying to cause hysteria." Hirano decided to take it easy as he responded to Komuro. "Or is this one of the effects of the disease? They're left-wing radicals, aren't they?"
"They are definitely left-wing radicals trying to drive everyone crazy because of the disease. They are not very different from right-wing fascists. This is such a horrible disease."
"That means you're going to be the same, Komuro." A big smile showed on Hirano listening to Komuro's words.
"My mom's classmates must be doing something similar." Komuro sighed. "It's a shit. They do nothing to stop the abusers at their school, but they take the time to go protest against the war... my mom... She's an elementary school teacher! She teaches first grade at Onbetsu Primary School, across the river. His students probably couldn't escape... they're kids after all."
"Is your mom leftist? Is he in the Communist Party or something like that?"
"Of course not! My mom is still very young!"
BANG!
"Wait, don't shoot at us! This girl and I are still alive! We are alive!"
At that moment the girl she was carrying in her hands looked up to bite the woman's neck.
"HAH!"
Tears flowed from his eyes.
The girl who had fallen to the ground got up to go for other humans.
The people who saw this began to get scared.
"This is the fault of the damn system!" The leader of the protest raised her voice seeing this as an opportunity that she was right in what she said. "And we as citizens rebelled against them!"
"Please stop this unnecessary savagery!"
A policeman, seeing this, grabbed his partner's megaphone and then went to the protesting group.
"Hey, he is filming that guy out there."
The reporter spoke to her cameraman.
"Please leave immediately. You are all in danger here."
The policeman spoke calmly.
"They just want to deceive us!" The ringleader shouted. "They are only trying to hide the conspiracy from the government and the Americans!"
"I'm going to give you one more chance." The policeman's face darkened.
"Fight the system! Fight the system!"
"In order to fulfill my last obligation to my government and headquarters to maintain public order, you left me no choice." He took his right hand where he had the pistol stored. "The legality of this is questionable, but orders are orders."
"Huh?"
BANG!
On television it was seen how the policeman shot a civilian. The reporter looked surprised at the scene behind her.
Static appeared on the channel and then gave another scene.
"They changed the transmission to something else." Hirano said.
"This looks bad. They will not be able to do anything against 'them' until the sun rises." Komuro said.
"EE!" Hirano was frightened by arms that suddenly appeared behind Komuro.
"Ah, eh." Komuro blushed because he saw Marikawa's large, almost naked breasts.
"Kooomuuroo-kuun." Marikawa lunged at Komuro and kissed him on the cheek.
"S-Sensei? Is she drunk?!" Komuro exclaimed blushing.
"Just a little chishquiiitito, fufuuu ah." Marikawa slipped her words at Hirano. "Kohta-chaan."
"Chan? Err, um. Haha." He didn't care about the suffix, as he looked at and appreciated Marikawa's slender body approaching him.
"Mmm!" Marikawa gave another kiss on the cheek while drunk, this action caused Hirano to bleed from the nose.
"Don't speak so loudly. Lower your voice a little." Komuro with a serious face trying not to blush, warned Marikawa.
"Queeé?! No! It's so quiet outside it's scary, so I'm going to talk like that."
"Hirano goes watch." Komuro ignored Marika's complaint and lifted her on his shoulder to carry her. "Here we go..."
"Ah. Well, good." Hirano was stunned by Marikawa's kiss on the cheek and he began to walk bumping into the wall.
Meanwhile, Komuro carried a drunken Marikawa on his back.
"Hyan!" Marikawa felt Komuro's cold hands on her buttocks. "You're touching my ass! Komuro-kun, you're a pervert. We can't do that..."
Marikawa flirtatiously fiddled with Komuro's hair.
"It's so soft..." Komuro felt Marikawa's soft breasts on his back. I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy it..."
"What are you enjoying?!" Komuro saw Rei's angry face in front of him.
"N-nothing." Komuro, with a blushing face, denied what he said.
"Aahh, Takashi and I are three people."
"Huuh?" Komuro was confused by Rei's reaction.
He saw that he then fell to the ground.
"Were you drinking too?"
"Well, I was tired. And today so many things happened. And Hisahi is dead..." Rei began to cry.
Komuro's bitter face showed.
» ━━━━━━ « » ━━━━━━« «
Komuro arrived in a room and left Marikawa sleeping on the floor on top of a futon and covering her body with a soft sheet.
She glanced sideways at the slender and sexy body of her childhood friend Takagi who was sleeping on the furniture, she blushed after seeing her incredible body.
At that he clicked in his mind.
"Where are Alicia-san and Muramasa-san."
Before going to look for what Marikawa's friend was hiding with Hirano, he knew that Alicia was in this room where she invaded her father's personal space sleeping on his chest.
He decided to go to the balcony to look from there.
Where he noticed that there were many zombies on the ground with half of their heads cut off. He could only see that in the dark and as far as his vision allowed him, he could not see anything else on the street.
He decided to go for binoculars.
» ━━━━━━ « » ━━━━━━« «
I began to hear the screams of terror from the people on the Onbetsu bridge.
"The situation got too dangerous."
Zombies attacked and bit civilians who were not infected while others were lucky to escape the scene.
A man got on a tractor with tracked tires and using the steel blade advanced forward where several people jumped to the side to avoid the tractor.
Now people were fleeing for another situation.
"That's right, if they get to the middle of the bridge, it will spread! If they get this far, we'll start shooting at them without warning! Do we have your approval? What do they answer?"
Bang!
The action of that policeman was surprising. What he was looking for before he died was fulfilled, people began to obey without complaining and to grind about stupid things.
I started to jump away from the rooftops, I already saw a brave action of a human.
"So more zombies are coming around this place."
I'm having a problem now.
My heart has not stopped beating.
My uncontrolled heartbeat is a problem.
The only thing that can calm him down is kill people, and zombies only fulfill a small part of that need.
I'd have to kill hundreds of zombies to calm down completely.
And I barely see about 76 zombies in the vicinity.
I sighed. "How I wish I could fight someone."
Swing!
I started back to cutting off half of the zombies' heads hoping that would calm my heart.
Thanks to my agility I didn't get dirty with the blood of zombies, I can't trust that nothing will happen to me if a drop falls on my skin.
"AAAAHHH!"
Um... I heard someone screaming on this side.
Jumping back to the roof of a house I managed to see a brown man who was escaping from several zombies following him where he had no luck escaping, the zombies pounced and began to devour him.
Huh...
A father and daughter were also escaping on this side.
If it weren't for the girl's scream, I wouldn't have noticed.
I got a little closer to them, I wanted to see what could happen.
Passing through the rooftops without making much noise, I arrived on top of the house they entered.
"Daddy, where's Mommy?"
"We're going to meet mom later. Come on, come here."
The man calmed his daughter.
Toc! Toc!
"Let us in! Please! I can't run away and abandon my daughter!"
"Go away! Find another place to stay!"
"I beg you! They don't have to take care of us! Just let us in, for my daughter!"
"…."
They did not answer him again. In addition, his face is dyed dark.
"Daddy..." The girl's sadness does not allow me to sit idly by.
"I recommend you don't try to do that."
"Hey!"
They were surprised. But he had to act quickly, the man had held the Stillson key tighter in his right hand, surely he was going to destroy the door to force his way into this house.
"For now, hold fast to me."
Grabbing them tightly by each arm, I jumped back into the chopping block, as I had gone down into the wall with bars where they entered.
Look at the Lord. "I understand your desperation, but I don't think anything good would have come out if I forced myself into that house."
"But I must protect my daughter no matter what, I can't abandon her and leave her to her fate!"
"I told you that I can understand you, since I also have a daughter to protect. But desperately looking for options like yours would only harm your daughter's life, don't make that same mistake again."
It's the first time I've been having a conversation like this, I never talked to anyone about being a parent.
"Even if you say that, right now I can only see choices that I wouldn't want to make." He looked at the key he was holding tightly. "I wouldn't want to become a..." Sadness and vulnerability showed in him.
A murderer, hm.
"Someday you will be. As you can see, people are desperate to live. They will do heinous things to accomplish that goal... something you were going to do yourself."
It seems that was a stab in his heart.
"Thank you. If that had happened, I would be tormented for the rest of my life."
I sighed.
Distant memories flooded me again. Of a small "me" that committed suicide every time it got out of control and wanted to kill its own family.
"You don't need to thank me. For now we should leave this roof, I don't think you'd like to sleep in this place, right?"
"Return, thank you for the help."
The man bowed where the daughter repeated the same action.
I sighed. "Haah... good."
I told him he shouldn't thank me, but he did.
"The only good thing is that this house is connected to others. Follow. And by the way, my name is Senji Muramasa."
"My name is Akio Maresato. And this is my daughter, Alice Maresato."
After introducing ourselves, we left.
» ━━━━━━ « » ━━━━━━« «
"Mr. Muramasa, I have rescued the father and his daughter."
Hirano had watched Senji's actions by looking through his sniper's gaze.
Bang!
He began to shoot, clearing the path Senji was coming from.
Although the shot falling at a zombie alerted Senji, he was able to observe where it was coming from and who had fired it.
"Komuro, go help Senji-san!"
Several zombies approached the house in which he was taking refuge.
A smile appeared on Komuro.
"What are you doing?! At least take the shotgun with you!"
"I have no idea how to use it!"
Komuro hurried over.
"Takashi?" Rei, who was scantily clad, asked confused in the middle of the stairs.
"I'm going to help Senji-san. He's rescuing a father with his daughter."
"I'm going to go with you."
"No, you take care of the entrance. I'm going to go across the street on the bike."
"But..."
"So you're going out." Saeko observed everything, she was dressed in an apron and in her underwear. "The man has made his decision." Smiling at the end of his words.
"I'm sorry, Busuji... Saeko-san. I couldn't live with myself, if I didn't."
Komuro had first seen the father and his daughter escaping. He had a serious conversation with Saeko, where she said some crude words that she didn't agree with. However, seeing Senji's actions now, he understood that he was not wrong in his decision.
Komuro decided to go help because he understood that, despite the brutality of the world they lived in, there were times when compassion and humanity had to prevail. Rescuing that father and daughter was a way to keep that spark of hope alive in the midst of the chaos.
"I already knew that, of course." Saeko smiled proudly at Komuro. "We will take care of things here. Do not worry. And I got out at once."
"Takashi."
"Hm?" Komuro, who had crushed the switch to pay for the lights in the room, looked at Rei in confusion.
"At least take this." Rei handed him a revolver.
I grab the revolver with determination.
"Don't use the gun too much. If you shoot you're going to attract more of 'them'."
"The bike alone is already making a lot of noise."
But I would use the revolver in case of emergency.
"It's true, but... To be able to use the bike you're going to have to make noise."
"But even so, the gunfire will attract them more, and you won't be able to escape."
Komuro, momentarily worried, advanced towards the bike.
"Takashi?"
Rei noticed Komuro's concern.
Komuro taking a breath of air, grabbed the fingerless leather gloves. Putting aside his concern now, his face was tinged with determination.
Several zombies approached the gate door where Rei and Saeko opened the door.
"Augh."
The zombies began to advance towards the house.
Brrrum!
Komuro advanced above the zombies. The sound of the motorbike attracted the zombies chasing Komuro where it continued along the street.
Rei and Saeko closed the gate door so that the zombies would not enter.
"What the fuck was that noise?"
Takagi left the house, as the noise of the motorcycle interrupted his sleep.
"A good thing." Rei had a pleasant smile.
"What?" That confused Takagi.
Komuro, thanks to the bike, quickly arrived where Senji was. But first he had to dodge several zombies to get to this place.
"Senji-san!"
» ━━━━━━ « » ━━━━━━« «
This guy is amazing.
Komuro had easily arrived with his motorbike dodging the zombies.
"Senji-san!"
The moment I heard that scream, I began to move too.
Taking the man and his daughter by surprise, I climbed down from the roof carefully.
Releasing him on the ground afterwards, I did what I had to do.
"You escape with the boy. I'll take care of 'them'."
"Good."
"Lord, thank you very much!"
"Don't worry. For now, they must escape."
Komuro did a drift to brake.
"Get on, we are going to go where we took refuge. Senji-san don't try to cope with it to an exaggerated level, you must return quickly."
Heh, it looks like this guy is starting to understand me.
"Well, I'll be following you. So hurry up your bike."
Brrrum!
Thanks to my speed, I was close to Komuro's bike.
"Wow! The Lord is very fast!"
Alice looked on in wonder. While Lord Akio looked dumbfounded.
"Mr. Muramasa, you are surely not an ordinary human."
"You're not the first person to think that about me, haha."
"Senji-san, I'd like to ask where your daughter is," Komuro said, almost stumbling me along the way.
"What do you mean? My daughter was sleeping on the furniture." I replied by raising an eyebrow.
"It wasn't there. I didn't have enough time to look for her... but I don't think he's still in the house," Komuro explained, worried.
Tsk... What is he doing now?
"Keep going, I'll search the surroundings. If he's not home, he must be doing something," I said, making a quick decision.
"Good."
Ending our conversation I jumped back to the rooftops to get a better view of the surroundings.
Staying in this place will not help either, I must advance quickly in other places.
I jumped onto several rooftops while straining my eyes so as not to miss any detail of anything I observed.
There's none.
I continued to advance elsewhere.
There's none.
I tried again.
There is no trace of Alice in this part.
My footsteps on the rooftops became blobs to the eye of an ordinary human.
I wasn't lucky, I can't find a trace of Alicia.
"Where have you gone, Alice."
» ━━━━━━ « » ━━━━━━« «
"W-Who are you?!" was the woman's muffled cry, her voice trembling and weak.
I looked at her with cold, empty eyes as she lay on the ground, a pitiful state. His breathing was irregular, and his face was covered in dirt and blood.
"I have no idea how anyone from Little Garden could get to this place." I muttered, more to myself than to her.
The wind was rustling through the trees, and the silence of the night was heavy. Despite the darkness, I could tell that this woman was not normal and did not belong in this world, a sight that made my heart pound and an unsettling sense of danger ran through my spine.
Someone must have found a way to get to this place where I was having fun with my father.
If that's so... the Gift Game became dangerous for my father, surely enemies of him looked for a way to enter this place only with the desire to kill him...
The decision was clear: I had to kill this woman so that she would never return the way she came.
"E-wait! Let me live, I have nothing to do with you or what you are doing in this world! AAAHHHH-!"
Crack!
I smashed his neck, it wasn't my fault. It was her fault and her bad luck for having come into this world where I was having fun with my father.
For now, I will continue with the Gift Game. However, if I notice that it becomes dangerous for my father, I will have no choice but to cancel it. I can't let my fun and happiness hurt my father.
